Sound from internal and external speakers - Acer Iconia A500

I plugged some logitech speakers into my A500 32gb model tablet and the sound is coming out of both the tablet speakers and the logitech speakers at the same time :S its extremely annoying as I dont want to hear the tinny crap coming from the tablet. I couldnt find any option to turn that sh*t off and the problem does not persist with headphones :S
Am I missing something here?
Does this happen to you??

[Q] Headphone jack

So as most of us know the mic on the TF sucks completely for video chatting. Has anyone figured out how to just hook up a mic to the TF without it turning off the TF speakers?
Right now I have a removable mic from my Razor headset that I can plug into any mic jack and use it on, but since the jack on the TF is for headphones and mic, it disables the sound from playing on the internal speakers.
I'm going to try and dig around on the back end to see if I can find the code that disables the speakers, but I was just wondering if anyone has come across this yet?

My mic is detected as headphones, even worse off than you. You need to get those 1-to-2 splitter for iPad/iPhones, no way of not turning the speakers off (unless you modify the kernel source and compile your own)

[Q] Headphones problem

Has anyone noticed a problem with using headphones? I have tried 4 different pairs and only managed to get 1 pair working properly. The problem is that when you plug the headphones in the small headphones icon appears in the lower right hand side but when you play the music it comes through both the headphones and also the speaker. It seems to be the headphones are not seating properly.
same problem!!
yess i have the same problemm!!!
i realised that to fix this problem, you have to plug in the headphones while firstly playing any songs through the tablet speakers, then it detects there's headphone plugged in.
This is issue is really pissing me off!! i hope they fix it asap!
yes i had that problem and felt like an idiot when i finally realised that i was sharing my music with everyone on the bus!
very weird problem which has stopped me from listening to music on my a500 even though the audio quality is superior to my Sony Ericsson X10 and my HTC Sensation.
Thanks for the tip - I'll try it out tonight!

this trick works for me too, but only while the audio is playing through the specific app. if i stop music while doing this trick and change to video it out puts the video out of both speakers and headphones again.
It really has nothing to do with the jack seating, it has to do with the audio mixer and the jack detection.
it should be fixed eventually (hoping with ICS) but for now I have to take my headphones off and check the output like a weirdo anytime I want to switch apps using headphones.
Hi, I have also this problem but I noticed another strange thing : when you listen to a track using headphones the stereo image looks moved slightly to the right, it's not well centered. Is it only a problem of my A500 or is it general ?
Thanks
Ramp
Are you guys using non-stock ROM or something? I am on stock 3.1 and I am not having any kinds of issues with it, headphones work just fine and the stereo image is as centered as it should. Or maybe it's your headphones, have you tried with other devices?
I'm on Taboonay 2.1 and i can't remember noticing it when i was using stock rom. I only noticed it because i felt the slight vibration coming from the speakers. I have got 1 Set of headphones that work really well with it and it only happens with my other headphones which weren't exactly cheap (typical) but they all work on everything else i plug them into, so i think it's more to do with the seating of the headphones rather than the rom because i've got a pair that work fine, although i now have some doubt so i'm going to try them all out again to make sure
Same problem here, with Taboney 2.1 and different head phones.
Hi, just upgraded to 3.2 original and now everything comes out in mono. No stereo from headphones. Anyone having the same prob? Wow, things are getting even worse....

I had this same problem too on stock HC 3.1
The trick works for me; but is rather annoying trying to drive and play music at the same time
I have recently changed to Lightspeed ROM with Thor 3.7 (the rest) kernel and have not experienced any sound issue yet =]
I have some problems with the last Tabooney 3.2 ROM and headphones too.
Sound goes through headphone and tab speakers.
I noticed that if I unplug and plug headphones twice or three times I could only have sound into headphones and works well.
I never used OTA ROM so, can't say if it works well with it, but there is a prob with Taboonay's ROM.
I can't post in DEV thread (regard to my posts count).

[Q] Less volume in one earphone speaker

Iv'e got a 16 gig N7 with me about 7 months old with a peculiar problem
When listening to music/playing games/pretty much doing anything with sound if I use a earphone with the 3.5 mm jack I get low volumes in the left ear than in the right ear.
I've tried the same earphone with an iPod, my cell phone, and another mp3 player but the volumes are equal so it's neither the headphones nor my ears.
Any help will be appreciated.
Make sure the headphone connector is inserted fully into the jack. It may take more force than you think. Also, try different headphones or earbuds in the jack to see if it duplicates the problem.
If it's in-ear 'phones (not earbuds) try adjusting the fit and how far in your ear you insert them. I have to do that sometimes for my left ear.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium

I have this issue too, and it has started about 2 months ago (had the device about 10months now). Tested with multiple headphones, and other devices (galaxy S4) works fine.
I'm not sure if it's specific headphones, software, or a full out headphone jack issue.
Less volumne in one ear
I have had the same problem develop after owning the Nexus 7 32 gb for two months.
Could get earphones to work if I did not completely insert into phone jack but that was a PIA.
Tried many types with same results.
Almost sent it back but everything else was perfect with the tablet.
My solution was to purchase a:
GOgroove BlueGate Bluetooth Adapter Wireless Receiver
It paired right up. Used it on a recent flight to watch movies on the Nexus 7. You can use any standard earphone and they are not tethered to the Nexus 7.
It also solved the volume problem with earphones. Sound is now loud and clear.
I also use the adapter to stream internet radio from the tablet to a little used bookshelf stereo with great results.
Also use a G-Grip Portable Wireless Speaker to listen to music and audio books. Nice little speaker.
My one year warranty will be coming up soon and I must decided to send it back or live with what I have.
Seems like a mechanical/connection problem.

[Q] Earbud Output

Hi. I recently got the Griffin Wood Tones headphones to use and they work really well with the Lg G2, but there is one minor problem. I am not sure that it is just for this pair of earbuds, but whenever i get a notification sound with my earbuds plugged in, it comes out through the speaker. I first noticed this in class when we were doing work and I was listening to music. It was really embarrassing having your phone go off in class. I was wondering if this is normal and i can change it somehow or if it is the earbuds that make it do that. Thank you!

Poor microphone volume while talking through BT earphones [Lineage OS 16.0]

When I have bluetooth earphones connected (Creative Outlier Air) and I'm talking to someone by using the microphone in the earphones I can hear the person I am talking to very well but the person I am talking to can barely hear me. Is it possible to somehow improve the quality of the microphone? I checked the headphones on another phone and everything works fine so i guess it's a software problem. I'd like to avoid going back to stock rom.
I don't know if it matters but I had to turn off the HD sound in the bluetooth options of the headphones, becuase when it's turned on the sound is stuttering.
