It can even be changed in the settings to include arrows
It doesn't show up in market for the tablet, but I downloaded it on the phone, and isolated it.

phone keyboard
That is a phone verson of there new keyboard. Its available on application brain they say the tab verson of it will be available soon.and is in testing now.

yeah the tablet version is in beta, i got it but didnt like it as much as thumb keyboard. If you are interested, i think that you can go to the swiftkey site and sign up to be on the beta tester list. Thats how I got it, but i clicked a link in one of the forums here and signed up that way. So i'm not real sure where to go, but I'm sure a search of the forums here would probably provide the link.

Here is the Tablet version

The best input method.
Thanks for the heads up on this - I'm a registered user, but I never seem to get the email updates. Do they actually send them?
I'm liking this version so far. It looks nicer and has handy little features. The "More" button on word suggestions was badly needed.

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the hint
Nah, don't use this one, it makes my device run slow (I have an Axim at 600Mhz and with touchpal runs like 200MHz).
Better try FTPRO from www.fingertouchpro.com , it's fast , cool and has more options. For me it's the best software keyboard.
LOVE TOUCHPAL - but when i type "its" my Orbit soft resets !!!!!!
Have no problem using TouchPal on my Cruise, which runs on 400Mhz chipset.
The 'Its' bug has been fixed. Redownload the latest installation file from Cootek website.

is that so? did you download the official release? or something someone else posted? because I've been using TouchPal since version 2 and all the bugs have been ironed out. I have caught 3 of the bugs myself and they were fixed within 24hours.
TouchPal is my main sip, I use it at least once every 30mins while I'm awake. 3 times I've used it to write 5 page essays on my mobile. it's capable and fast once you get the hang of it. yes, there is a learning curve but it shouldn't take too long to get it.
to get the hang of it I'd say the best way is to open notes/word/textmaker or whichever is your favorite and type random words that comes to mind. it's the same layout as on a computer keyboard. so it shouldn't be too hard to understand where each key is located, plus you don't have to press the actual letters of the word you're trying to write, pressing the ones beside it will work just fine. its text prediction is really good, you can turn off the text prediction if you don't want it.
however, the text prediction is pretty good at saving typing the time it takes to type words.
eg: typing the word "circumstance", all I have to type is "circu" and it shows up in the word candidates.
lol, it's word association is good too, if it type word "nasty" it will show "masturbation" in the word candidates, lol. it sure saves me typing time when searching for these kind of videos in WVD lol.
get the file from www.CooTek.com and remember to select the download for the os you're using.
have fun
This looks pretty sweet. I will try it out in a few minutes.

Sweet, will upgrade now!!
Thanks for the continued development efrost
Edit: I login to the new site (nice look by the way) and try to upgrade the version but am encountered with this error
Code:
The type initializer for 'FTouchSL.Order.Common.Versions' threw an exception.
BTW the new version installs ok and runs great
nice update, great job thank you
First thanks for the great update. It works very much better on my device and I can use it now.
But I think the new slide actions don't work. I tried to use the brightness plugin(that it doesn't work on my device) and I assigned to down-left, but I cannot make it work. I tried with other plugins and the visual enabled but it seems that doesn't work(or I do something wrong). Same actions work if I assign them to slide up, left, right or down. Any help for that will be appreciate.
And last I made a greek translation for 2.7 version and I can update to this version too, but I need the recourse files(hope that doesn't need to do from the begining again)
loved the FTouchFlo looks like I may need to upgrade now.
Alright! I think you've got me sold now! Great work, as always!
eFrost, just wanted to say first off, great product but will you ever change FTouchSL to a time-based product instead of locking out additional gestures until you buy it? That way more people be reassured that it will work completely (by trying out all of features) on their phone. It might increase your sales also. Just my opinion though. Thanks for all previous works on XDA-Dev!

I believe so. Here are the current limitations for the free trial (link from FTouchSL web site) : http://www.ftouchsl.com/default.aspx?page=info&section=other&subsection=trial
Awww, I'm so disappointed right now . I just purchased 2.7 at full price without the 15% XDA members discount...and I've been a member on here for a long time :[ And I'll probably have to pay more for 3.0 too right? Sigh :[ Now I remember why I used to use pirated software before :[
Also I'm having trouble getting a new license key for 2.8 off your website, says 'Internal error, please try later'...so I'll try later.
EDIT: I would also like to share the 'visual notification' picture I use too (to match my black/white theme), I just replaced the default ones :]
Haha, you haven't been a member for that long, my friend. Heck, compared to some people here, I've just barely joined. Anyway, just email them and ask if maybe you can get the discount retroactively, they're really really nice, they might understand.
Great upgrade....
Gonna to buy newest vericson (3) after buy Raphael...
BTW:
I've 2.7 buyed and installed at my Kaiser....
One question: Where I download 2.8 and upgrade : Need to reactivate from you or I need to have still activation file (dat or something like this...) from 2.7 vericson???
Thanks.....
BTW: You are czech developers?

You need to visit www.ftouchsl.com to get the latest version (under "Get FTouchSL" or "Download").
You need to generate a new userkey for v.2.80 which you can do so at the "Client Area". You need the existing Device ID (found in the "About" page of FTouchSL Configuration) and the email you used for registeration to login.
Select "Userkey for v.2.8" (or something like that) and a new dat file will be emailed to you.
Official web-site: http://www.ftouchsl.com
Efrost the site is down.
It looks like that the site is repaired. At least, I've just received new key
Site is up!
Hello!
We had some problems with the site, so it was down for a one hour today morning. Now it works fine.
For those who wasn't able to upgrade from 2.7 to 2.8: problem solved, so you can easily upgrade and free of change, as usual!
Best regards,
efrost
Hi efrost.
I have upgraded to 2.8 but now find that active corners only work on the left hand side of my device. In 2.7 all 4 corners work. I have upgraded my user key to 2.8 also. Is this already being looked into as it seems a few others are having problems with active corners.
Edit:My bad I hadn't soft reset my device so was infact using the trial version! Having now soft reset all active corners are working fine.
Help no active corner or gesta hermes device.
hi im using the new 2.8 on a trial i was going to buy this app but all active corners dont work but the top left works and all gestas dont work im using a hermes300 with crc13.0 normal wm6.1 i know it isent the windows thats the problem becous the last version 2.7 works fine can any body shed some light i now the triel version removes some things but not all plz help!!!!.
I have an xv6800 and version 2.5 seemed to work ok. I recently updated my rom with Verizon's MR1 update (WM 6.1) and decided to try out version 2.8. Now I am having a terrible time getting it to get it to consitantly scroll and most of the time just selects the text as I drag my finger (testing within PIE). I have installed it twice resetting after each install/uninstall with no luck (and yes I did enable it in setup).
Not sure if it is the ROM update or version 2.8 causing my problems. If I could locate version 2.5 I would install it to see if it still works. Any ideas what the problem might be?
is there any way to disable scrolling on the today screen? Some plugins like ultimatelaunch or touchflo2d don't seem to scroll right. You have to delay your press before you can begin scrolling.

Swype erratic and unpredictable?

Hey guys/gals,
I've been using swype for going on three weeks now but it's being a right pain more and more often now.
It just seems to pick words that have nothing like the letters being selected -due to the swype the trail jumping in different directions sometimes I suspect-
I also can't select the second function (punctuation, brackets etc) without a right fuss. when I hold a letter to get the number sitting above it I'll get something like "bbb b" or "xxx" even though my finger's perfectly still. and when I try and hold delete to delete whole words I might get something like "mmm l m lmm"
It just goes mental some times.
Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix the nutty behaviour before Swype and I have a showdown at dawn?
Sounds like your phone and not swype.
I had huge problems with the light grey colored swype (don't know what versions there are, the one extracted from the tmo rom I think) just wouldn't let me get 2nd function, and really jittery.
I went back to the original one I found weeks ago (again, sorry no idea if version, kinda dark grey and grey/blue, ) and that one, along with the screen sensitivity tweak in bsb tweaks makes it a joy to use (admittedly after a few weeks practice/annoyances)
I'll attach the cab of the one I user to this thread when I get home in an hour or so.
Not the phone it seems as I've tried the same one on two different HD2s.
Screen sensitivity might play a part in this but it's definitely an issue with swype. If I use swype, it's very troublesome and very erratic but if I use the standard keyboard, doing something like second function is spot-on 100% of the time.
Also, in notes and drawing apps, although lines that I draw aren't perfectly to my traced line, they aren't anything like swype's crazy lightning like bolts, however, I understand this might be like comparing apples to oranges
Samsamuel, that would be perfect mate, hopefully it can get myself and anyone with similar issues back on track with swype. It is a blue version I use too, but could hopefully be a different release you have.

i have the same issue. i'm not able to type in a number by second function and holding down the button. that's why i guess it's a touchscreen fault.
like you, swype draws more bolds than straight lines. but i have the same problem when playing games like flight commander, where the drawn lines are shown all time. this "zick-zack" lines happen only every few seconds. most time i can draw lines perfectly. this is the part which i cannot understand...
if the screen is faulty, why does it work most time correct?

It's interesting that it happens in games too but I still believe it's Swype at fault in this case and not the touchscreen.
Open up notes and start a drawing, draw really slowly or really quickly, press light and press heavy and the outcome is a far straighter trail (nearly perfect). This could be down to programming but I don't think Swype is programmed to be over sensitive or everyone would have the same problem, there must be another reason.
I have been having the same problem, wasn't all the time but it was like it was spiking a lot when swyping across the keyboard. Installed Keyboard tweak 3.3 with reduced sensitivity and working better than it ever did before but have only been testing for a couple of hours.

Ok, heres the swype i've used successfully on a few different roms. I don't remember where i got it(i got it from xda dev), and i cant find how to see a version number. The lighter coloured, slightly chunkier version is the one i had trouble with.
Version is important because if you read about, it seems there's a bug in one of the swype versions where it can affect passwords if you have a lock on your phone, and i think you have to hard reset to get back in, so i'd hate for that to happen! (I dont use a lock, so i wouldn't know if this is the affected version or not) so please back up your stuff.

That one you're using (and posted) is version 2 (from Omnia), the nasty one is Swype 3.9. I also had nightmares with 3.9, don't recommend installing if you find it. Or you could just register for Beta release on the Swype website.

Found this thread via a google search, I've also heard to stay away from Swype 3.9 b/c of the way it checks for device ID first.
Anyway, 2.0 works great and thanks for the link for new skins...

Sick of the 'stock' keyboards.

I find the button to close together, even the android keyboard. What do yall think of them? What do yall recommend for big fingered dudes? Also, how hard is it to install a new keyboard?
I agree the Android keyboard is 'meh'. While I do wish the Standard keyboard had a larger space bar, otherwise I love it, I like Betterkeyboard with the Glass Orb skin. I know it doesn't affect the actual key size but I find that I'm a lot more accurate with that skin than others. Plus they have the Compact keyboard mode which may help. It was worth cost to me.
The HTC_IME mod is great...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
And IF it still is too small, you can set it to show up as an old-style phone keyboard with the 12 keys, and then it will use t9 spelling for you...
I cant recommend shapewriter highly enough. Once you have used it (or similar, swype for eg) you will not want to go back to the normal "tapping" method.
PM me if you want the apk.
Yeah, HTC touch input is very cool. Smart keyboard pro is also nice, but if your fingers are THAT big, I'd suggest Blindtype

lol shapewriter can be found in the market
been trying a lot of different keypads. Swiftkey is pretty good for the language and predictive options but not much space between the keys like all the others. No matter what keypad i try i still seem to be going back to the htc one.
They really should release it onto the market officially.
I use smart keyboard and just recently gone pro with it .

What about ultra keyboard? I love it, everything is configurable!
I have the same problem that I don't like any of the keyboards out there.
Swype is slow for me - I only speed up if I swipe the same word over and over again, which rarely happens in real life.
T9 and Ultra requires too many corrections and having to double or triple tap to get the exact letter you want is annoying when the prediction doesn't get it right.
Other keyboards the keys are too small especially if you have to type anything a bit unusual. Blindtype would have the same problem though it's not available yet.
Anything else out there?
i have tried a whole dozen before someone here recommend shapewriter, it's really that good, once i got used to it, i don't even want to use 'keyboard' on my phone anymore
Shapewriter 3.0.9 (Non-expiring) : http://www.mediafire.com/?qwffb21f0804twk
Try Swift Key.........i prefer it over Skype and Stock
SlideIT for the best "exotic language support" gets my vote. Has about 18 languages supported - including the Nordics, including different keyboard layouts (so you'll see the national keys, too). Current version (2.x) looks professional enough, too. A nice bonus is the single-key language switcher.
Shapewriter has a nicer key-spacing, so less error-prone, but lacks advance language support feats. If they get the Nordics fixed, it'd be a good choice too.
Swype looks good but seems lag-ridden, at least enough for me not to trounce SlideIT at present (let's see, if Nordic languages come by).
Bottom line: since I found Shapewriter, and later SlideIT, I haven't looked back to the traditional tap-tap-tap-keyboards - no matter how polished, no matter how good their prediction is. Speed, and even a reduced error rate (at times, only!) - two top reasons to start using a sliding keyboard.
Give them a try. A good try. Once you get beyond that initial WT... barrier, writing on your phone will never be the same.
Just tried shapewriter on the evo and I have to second that so far it is better than swype. I just like the fact that is it real easy to add words to the dictionary.
I have now swiftkey, its new and so far it's working well
Sent from my rooted X10i using tapatalk
I had a few problems with the latest update of Swype.. UNTIL... I changed some of the settings (found the problem on there website, can't recall what the changes were now..) but now it's fantastic again.. and the sliding from the swype key to the Sym key to get the navigation keys is just genious..)..
Needless to say, I love it.. it is the proverbial dogs cogs.

homie I REALLY appreciate the fact that you took the time to hook up up with some seriously detailed knowledge; your post is far more useful than the "I like ____ more than ___."
Per your rec's, I actually will try both alternatives, because I ran out of Swype beta time and I couldn't find a lasting apk
Time for a new keyboard [again]!

Get it while its FREE - predictive WORD beta keyboard!!!

Hey try this out! I think you will like it, looks good and skin colour can be changed.
It is predictive word and predictive next word!!!
Free at the moment because it is beta, but I have tried it an works 100%
It can even be changed in the settings to include arrows
It doesn't show up in market for the tablet, but I downloaded it on the phone, and isolated it.
Enjoy
