hello
after I updated my arc to 2.3.3 "officially", I did phone reset with memory card reset, now the music player widget and photo viewer widget don't show any thing after 10 mins of shooting or taking a picture or even after a reboot, music player shows nothing, and i have like 10 albums in the memory card. does anyone faced the same problem?

I did a factory reset after the update for the phone and Micro sd.
UPDATE FOR THE PROBLEM: pics and vids disappear from Gallery it self too.
Me too everything gone in gallery and music >>>> WTF ??????????????
Have you formatted your memory card? If not, try rebooting!
Sent from the Arc.
Look for any .nomedia file created in SD card. It's hidden file.
I had the same problem BEFORE the update on both my arc and play.
Took it to the service centre and they took some data for research.
Apparently, it has been solved adter this update on my arc.
If you reset (formatted?) your SD Card then there won't be anything on it to show in gallery.

So YOU erase everything...
Maybe you need to load your sd card from setting
After i formatted the memory, i took some pics & vids and they didn't appear <<<< that's obvious guys i'm not stupid.
P.s: Some people need to use their brain more often.
Did you press your battery cover firm after the update? Cz there is a small lock which will automatically remove the card for hot swapping. And if we choose the 2nd option in SEUS it will format the card anyway.

So I have searched the forums multiple times and didn't find a solution to this problem. Whenever I take a picture with the camera and have it set save to card it saves it to card then 2 seconds later the picture cannot be found on the card at all. Everything else on the card can be found on the card like music, ect. I have used the SD fix but am still having this issue. Please help. Thanks.
What card are you using? The original or one bought on ie. ebay?
I am using a new 8gb one and everytime a take a picture the photo only stays on the card for a moment then dissapears.

Apply sdcard fix.
Small tips
Use the filemanager and delete the DCIM folder. The camera recreates the folder and you'll be able to save photos to card again.

Hi I'm using SDSL 3.0 by miroslav_mm. I've 256 MB. of swap memory.
Everytime i'm trying to attach a picture (also trying to view a picture) in a Whatsapp chat it keeps saying "Failed Out of memory. Please, try again later" and it recommends to restart the phone. It's happening now when i've 50 MB of free internal memory.
Any help?
Thanks in advance,

SOLUTIONS
It is common to get the error “failed out of memory please try again later” when trying to send pictures on Whatsapp or when you are trying to change your Whatsapp profile picture. This is basically a memory problem. It’s not as a result of not having enough memory, this error can happen even when you have Gigabytes worth of memory on your smartphone and SD card.
I have come across a lot of forums where this problem was discussed and people were wrongly advised to reset their phones and format their SD cards. This may quite solve your problem but you may end up losing a lot of other important data in the process.
The truth is that you don’t have to reset your phone or format your SD card to solve the Whatsapp failed out of memory please try again later error. I will advise you on several methods you could use to solve the Whatsapp failed out of memory please try again later error without having to reset your smartphone or format your SD card
Method 1: Restart your phone
Sometimes this error occurs as a result of your phone not being able to synchronize data with the SD card. When your phone has been on for a long while, there is a possibility some processes may have become idle or even dead, some other programs may have taken over the memory space for such idle or dead processes making it difficult for them to pick up memory when you try to use their applications.
So restarting your phone will simply refresh all the running processes on your device, kill those you don’t need on startup and free memory for any application you want to run. So the first method to solving the Whatsapp failed out of memory please try again later error is to restart your phone.
Method 2: Unmount your SD card:
Since the Whatsapp program folder is usually in the SD card (path: /mnt/sdcard), it will be wise to unmount the SD card, waiting for some few seconds or minutes and reinserting it into the device. That way you would’ve stopped all the processes that depends on the SD card such as the Whatsapp giving you the error.
When you mount the SD card again, the processes will be refreshed and memory will become available again for your apps such as the Whatsapp and you can be able to send images or change display images without encountering the “failed out of memory please try again later error”.
Method 3: Reduce Picture Resolutions
Another way to avoid the Whatsapp failed out of memory please try again later error is to reduce the picture resolution. Most smartphones these days come with very high picture resolutions which make the pictures very clear and nice when taken but it also make the picture sizes quite high.
A 5MP camera with a 1952 x 2592 resolution can take pictures of almost 1MB each. Reducing the image resolution will reduce the image quality and size as well. You can reduce the camera resolution by going to your camera settings under resolutions and change it to a lower resolution.
Method 4: Delete Pictures from the Whatsapp folder
As you send and receive images on Whatsapp, and even when you view your friend’s profile pictures, they are automatically stored on your Whatsapp media and profile pictures folders. Use a file explorer such as ES File Explorer to navigate to /mnt/sdcard/Whatsapp/Media/Whatsapp Images and delete the images in that folder. You should also do same for the Whatsapp video, Whatsapp Voice Notes, Whatsapp Audio folders.
Clearing these folders will free up memory for your Whatsapp app to run smoothly without failed out of memory please try again later errors.
I hope I have been able to give you a working solution to solving the Whatsapp failed out of memory please try again later error. If one method does not work for you try the other, one will most definitely work for you.
If you have tried all the methods here and no one worked for you please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions using the comment form below. Remember to also leave a comment on the method that worked for you for others to try.

I have always used "gallery" to view pictures that I have stored on my external micro SD card. This new ATT galaxyS4 doesn't allow it. It only displays pictures that are stored on the internal SD card.
I got root and use an app called "root explorer" is the only way to view the pictures I have stored, which is ok but there is no slide show function in root explorer.
I postponed the update that came in over the airwaves, but it processed last night while asleep. I don't see any difference except it's not rooted anymore. Gallery is still limited to viewing only the onboard chip that's full of bloatware.
Does anyone else notice gallery not seeing the external SD?

Storage and reading of the external SD card for pictures works great for me.
One thing to note if you are having problems with the gallery, is to reformat the SDCard in the phone.
I was getting laggy gallery images, and a high battery drain from the Gallery.
Reformatting the SD card cleared up all my problems!
When you open gallery, hit menu and content to display. Make sure all is selected.

Is there anyway to save all downloaded pictures/screenshots to the SD card? I wiped my phone the other day and my downloaded pictures got deleted because it was in Internal Storage

If you use stock browser anything downloaded will go to external sd. Camera also asks you to save pictures on external sd when inserted, if not it can be changed in camera settings.

I stuck a different 32 gb class 10 microSD chip in the external memory slot and gallery started working finally.
So I assume the chip I've always used needs formatting sounds like.
Thank you for the feedback.
I have a similar issue as OP. I have a 64gb Sandisk SDXC, and it came straight over from the S3 and the S4 gallery didn't see my pix from the card either nor the music player see all my music. I have to format the card in the phone then copy everything over from pc to phone via usb for the gallery and music player to see what's on my ext card. Then the phone restarted by itself, and it says the sd card is damaged, then the OTA update came just in time, updated, amd magically the Sd card was fixed, now it only see select videos and images and still none of my music. If it's in the inter sd then it's fine.
Do you guys think my sd card is shot?

It sure sounds like it. My chip still works, all I did was use the computer to format it.
The only way to tell is get another chip and put some files on it for a test.
It ticks me off they don't even populate the external SD slot with a cheap chip like they used to. ATT phones used to come with a one or two gigabyte capacity bottom dollar chip for free but alas they got even more greedy!

I used foldermount and moved the DCIM folder to the external sd, so all the setting have it looking at the mounted folder on the internal card, even the burst shots are stored right onto the external. the longer I've had foldermount, the happier i am with it. endless possibilities!
i'm using android version 5.0.1 , I don't know what app caused this but :
- My Music is no more shown in the Music Player (only those on my external SD Card are shown).
- Same thing for my Photos, they're no more shown in the Gallery (only those on my external SD Card are shown).
is there a way to re-scan the SD card, I've used a lot of SD card scanners but either they crash or with no positive result.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance.

No there's no .nomedia file in both folders.
I suggest the feature on Device Control > More > Scan Media
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.namelessrom.devicecontrol
Clear the data for Media Storage and reboot. It'll rebuild on startup, wait a minute or so for it to do its work.

Media scan is triggered but it takes a bit long to be done. Did you wait?
But, indeed, I have waited 1h and not a different message appear (although the media scan seems to be ok...).

Sorry, I don't have a better solution...
Flashed a new ROM, problem solved.
For everyone who might be reading this post later, if you're on lollipop, don't bother those Scanners apps, you'll waste your time, if you're on Kitkat yeah, one might work, just look for "Media Scanner" or "SD card scanner", that will crawl the whole SD Card and re-index the files (pics & sounds).
if you're on Lollipop 5.0.1 and untill this day, no app has worked for me.
Thanks guys

Your photos and videos should be under Camera if taken with it, there is a little icon on the folder if it's external. Otherwise in their respective folders. The Gallery has both your internal and external medias per default (not even sure it can be changed, unless you manually hide them). I'm thinking your SD card might be bad, which would also explain the high memory notification you get on reboot. Backup what's on it to your pc or other device, format it and copy the stuff that you need/want back on it.

Do you still get the high memory notification after formatting? If so, test something: Format the sd card, put it in your phone with nothing on it and reboot to see if you get the notification. If you don't, the issue is one or a few of your files on it. If you do tho, the sd card is faulty or simply doesn't play well with the S7.

Sounds like you had a faulty device. The issue you've experienced are quite isolated. Sucks though cause it's a great device
