Camera can't focus on close object like QR code - Xperia Arc General

Hi, has anyone tried to scan QR code with Google Goggles from their Arc?
It works for big QR code on web sites but I find that the camera can't get a sharp focus on closer and smaller QR code (like those printed on business cards).
Anyone else? Any work around?
Thanks
waanz

How small are we talking about here? I just scanned several 2cm x 2cm QR codes fine.

Maybe you're holding the QR code too close/too far. Try adjusting the distance and see. I've had many issues if the subject is too close to the camera. Also, try manually focusing with the camera button if you haven't been doing so already (it's a two-step one like most digital cameras)

QR code 2 or 3 cm wide. Have tried to hold camera at all possible distance, no luck.

neoTouch camera function in software

hi i just noticed when i downloaded i-nigma (a barcode scanner) into my neotouch s200 today
and i found that when the software uses the camera function, the camera screen is rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise for some reason.
i tried using other software such as neoreader and the same thing happens.
when i access the normal camera function the screen is the way its supposed to be though.
is this a bug? im using the 3.003b EN firmware by the way.
skip inigma
uses mobiletag the new version and use the htc HD2 settings. When you tap screen to open camera, make sure you are relatively close to whatever barcode and then half push the camera button to focus. I say mobiletag and not inigma b/c inigma doesn't focus for crap. E.g. on chrome i have an extension that creates a barcode for any webpage i'm on. I can't use inigma b/c I can't focus on it. Plus mobiletag does the whole online price check like the iphone and android apps do. Skip inigma... its junk.

camera app with voice recognition

i got a camera app that has voice recognition in it...here is ome data i copy
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Say Cheese is a camera application with innovative voice recognition and response features. This camera app is heavy on useful photographic tools and includes onboard help.
Snap your photos four ways: 1) Normal Click that responds with voice according to settings 2) Long press for a quick snapshot 3) Ask the camera to take a picture 4) Stealth Mode.
Voice recognition does not clutter your camera with the big dialog visible in most voice recognition apps. Say Cheese Camera is loaded with cool features like the voice countdown timer and the stealth mode for taking secret photos. Uploading to Facebook is a breeze with the unique batch uploader and you can even generate a Facebook rainSlide automatically from the upload screen.
Other features include a zoom anywhere preview, support for content handlers like Google Goggles and photo editing apps. Immediate feedback forms make it easy to contact the developer right from your phone.
With Say Cheese, you will be surprised by the responses you will attract from a talking camera. Even customize your own responses for insults or compliments. Have fun!
Live Frames support for framing and adding special effects to your photos. Live Frames packages are available as separate installs.

[Q] Front camera and Barcode Scanner, etc.

About the only thing I could see myself missing a rear camera for would be scanning things like QR codes, bar codes, etc. Is it safe to assume that Barcode Scanner, Google Shopper, et al, would be able to scan using the front camera? I realize it might be a bit tricky at first because you wouldn't be able to see the screen well, if at all. With practice, though, I think you'd be able to figure it out.
"My impression" is that a front camera is addressed differently than a back camera.
Barcode scanners and camera apps might not work with the Nexus 7 without software modification.
For now, it remains to be seen how useful the front camera will be for other than video chatting.
Anyone verified Skype works with this yet?

Hi, I'm an author of Barcode Scanner. It doesn't use the front camera since only rear cameras are treated as 'real' cameras by Android, and the API for using second cameras appeared later than the API leve the app supports (2.3), which makes it tricker.
We made a 'premium' version that does, among other things, support front-camera-only devices like the Nexus 7.
Search for "barcode scanner plus" on Google Play -- sorry I can't posts links yet

Inverted Camera

Anybody having an issue when running AOKP and presumably CM10 or any rom based off these, where the camera when accessed inside other applications such as amazon (for barcode scanner), chase (for quick deposit), and parking applications; that the camera is flipped 90 degrees no matter what orientation the actual device is. Does not effect the camera app itself only when camera is accessed through other applications. Any fixes for this?

Anybody have this happening?

3T with Google Cardboard.

Got the phone today, and after setting everything up I did some google cardboard viewing. Not sure if it was bad settings from the QRcode of that particular cardboard, but I kept getting double vision.
After searching on google I came across a post on oneplus one forums, on the oneplus.net website, and scanning that QRcode fixed it for me.
Link is: forums.oneplus.net/threads/fix-oneplus-one-google-cardboard-no-more-double-images
Thanks for sharing. What do you mean double images?
The way google cardboard (and all other aftermarket vr headsets) works, is by splitting your screen in half and then rounding each half into circular shapes to appear like you have full view.
Unfortunately each screen is a different width. Our eyes are at different distances apart and the glass in the headsets are all at different fields of view. This means that if you have the wrong setup, then the vr apps can place the images on the phone too far apart, too close together, or at the wrong angle (circular shape) to match your eyes and headset glass. So, for example, if the two images are too far apart or close together, your eyes can't twist enough and your brain can't combine the images into one. Think of it like crossing your eyes while still seeing distant objects as one. So thus you get double vision.
The provided qr code is nice to have. But depending on your headset, may not work. The best option is to use the link to the vr setup utility and use a computer to adjust the view until you have perfect vision with no eye strain (muscle tension)
Has anyone tried disabling NFC and using a Daydream as Cardboard?
I tried with a cheap eBay vr glasses and it works just fine. No problem at all
