Something different between rom and OTA Froyo.

Marketplace just notified me that there was an update for Google Sky available. I currently have it installed and it works fine with the leaked Rom but in won't install the update. Funny since the reason for the update is because its been optimized for Froyo. I wonder if there's something in the OTA to prevent Rom users from ever updating Google apps.
This is my first Android phone, first rooted phone, and first time using a Rom so this may be normal but I wasn't sure. Thought I'd pass on the info..

Unmounted your Sdcard and try again.

Tried, still comes up unsuccessful.

Do you have the market fix installed?
If that still doesn't work I would completely remove it and install it again.

Yeah I haven't completely removed it and tried again, but Market works fine. I've bought a game since going to the leaked rom and gooten updates for other apps. This is the only one that doesn't want to update successfully for me.
EDIT: I even reinstalled Google Earth right after going to Froyo without a problem.

I know you said you unmounted the sd card, but did you do it by going menu>settings>sd & phone storage>unmount sd card? Then downloading sky map?
If that doesn't work, go menu>settings>applications>manage applications>all>market & clear data & cache. Then install.

[HELP] 2.1 app2sd problem ><

Hi everybody
I decided to go back to 2.1 from 2.2.1 cm beta1
Everything was ok then I decided to install root xrecovery and app2sd (i have had already a partition of apps) with autoinstall update.zip
But I cannot download angry birds!!! Download started but it doesn t continue
However if you tell me that it is only angry birds problem it doesn t matter (could you link me this apk?)
Another problem is market doesn t recognize my apps installed on as but only these installed via phone or updated so I don t know if there is any updated app but if I upgrade it manually market will recognize it!!!
Ps: installing apps these ones goes to sd so it could be ok
Any suggestion???

Had the same problem a while ago. When my installation location was set to external a good few apps would not install, however once I changed it back to internal it was ok. I'm using 2.3 and most if not all apps can be moved without problem hope this helped

in 2.1 i can't choose where to put apps, installing app2sd every app will go to external memory, but i can install everything apart from angry birds >.<

phone thinking its memory is full???

Im redownloading all my apps because i cant restore a back up and the market is telling me "Installation error: Insufficient storage available." even though i have like 340mbs of storage left on my phone... running syndicate rom 1.1.1 with their 1.1.1 Twilight kernel
EDIT: i deleted google earth which is a 23mb file and then tried to redownload poweramp and still says error, then i redownloaded google earth with no problems

I had that problem with taptap. I downloaded SD Maid from the market and searched my sd for corpses - turns out there was parts of the app still on the sd card. Try it

Thanks for the info. I don't think I have any SD issues but I'm going to run SD Maid anyway just to see how it improves things.

So I've been using SD Android for a while now and I noticed something that started yesterday. I can download nothing from browser or through apps. For example, I couldn't download the swype installer or (after moving the apk to my sd card) I couldn't log in. But I can go online just fine. I tried changing to about 2 or 3 different versions but all have the same issue. Can someone PLEASE help me

I think you should try format your sd card then test again

I formatted it. Same thing happens I can download through market, but not through any browsers or any other apps.

Device working perfectly until.....

Sorry for posting in galaxy y thread but there is no galaxy pocket (or if there it's,I couldn't find it) and this model is the closest I could think of..so anyways my phone, it works fine unless I insert the memory card.then after a few minutes it freezes and reboots without powering off. Then it restarts, freezes and again shuts down.removing the card fixes it but then I can't use my apps songs and videos on my memory card. That card worked fine for almost a year (I didn't test it on some other Android device but it works on non Android devices)
My Recent Activity
a few days ago I decided to deodex my phone using a flashable I found somewhere...it all was working fine except for a few FCs and sometimes it froze but after some time it would get back to normal.then I installed a few apps like undelete and ROM toolbox pro.I changed the boot animation too. So once I was using opera mini web browser and my phone froze and turned off in the same way I mentioned earlier... I tried clearing dalvik cache and the cache partition in recovery mode but to no avail.I also removed a few apps I suspected may have been the cause but that too didn't work.
I hope the experts here help me out with the issue soon.
And btw that 'you are a noob on xda' was genus:beer::beer:

Backup & Format
Use a pc and a card reader to make a backup of ur sdcard and then format it (to fat32).. and restore the data to sdcard from pc and try..
