[Q] Juice defender tablet mode - Acer Iconia A500

Has anyone used juice defender's tablet mode? Its grayed out in my version (ultimate) and I can't select it to turn it on. Is this worth pursuing or should I just forget it?

I tried it for a few days. I did not notice any significant improvement.

Missing icons from bottom of screen

I seem to have lost the ability to rotate the screen and also to switch input modes (keyboard/pen) on my XDA IIi... The respective icons are both missing.... Does anyone have any ideas?
Oh, on a related note, the device seems to guzzle power - I get about 12hrs from a fresh battery (and I've tried three). Any suggestions?
On the power front, I presume you're on an XDA2i? Is your turbo mode on? Is Bluetooth on constantly or wi-fi? What are your power save settings? You'll need to be more specific.
Cheers

Turbo mode is off. Power save settings are default, or more conservative (lower brightness on battery, for example). Yes, it's a 2i.
I've recently rebuilt my 2i (with all the same software as before) yet this time it also seems to guzzle the juice. Turbo mode is off, and I can't think of anything that could be causing it as last night the wireless was off and yet when I woke up it was 23% battery!!

Wifi Settings?

Hey guys,
been using my X10 for a while now (2 weeks) and the battery life is one thing that tilts me a lot... I tried all the tas killer, adv task killer, task panel lite etc, and none really worked
also, juice defender just somehow seems to screw up my wifi settings. I use no 3g/ data at all so i just keep that disabled.
However from reading this forum I downloaded an app called Spare Parts. It is really good in that it tells me what is using my battery in a detailed manner. so it tells me that my battery is being drained from
Running 12%
Wifi running 12%
wifi on 99.9%!!!
Now i made sure of all my wifi settings, I have it turned to "Sleep when screen turns off" in the android menu, and "android default" under spare parts.
I uninstalled juice defender bc i found that it was just screwing up my settings, it kept changing the "Sleep when screen turns off" to "Never" which resulted in more battery drain
I dont know why my wifi is running 99.9% but i gotta think that is killing my battery.. The really annoying thing is if I goto the battery use under normal android settings and it is telling me wifi only used up 6% of my battery since last charge?
sorry for the mega long first post but any help is really appreciated
bumppppp! Im sure this must be a problem for other people too who don't know their wifi is running 100%?
Not sure what advice i can offer you mate.
Although WIFI is definately a large drain on the battery i found the source of my battery problems were down to having the "Location source and & Data use settings" enabled.
Put simply it will try to use either your wifi or data connection to determine your current location. If this is left running in the background it will seriously affect your battery.
Its better to only enable them when required.
Hi - The answer is in your question...
Wifi running 12%
wifi on 99.9%!!!
This means that your wifi is switched on for 99.9% of the time which you phone has been on, but it has only been "active" or "not sleeping" for 12% of the time.. This is fine..
I removed Ulitmate juice a while ago, but reinstalled only the Juicedefender element last week and it's definitely making a difference to my battery life - especially when I'm out and about..
Have a good look through the power usage thread - there's loads of stuff the phone does in the background that you can switch off to save juice.
Yea definately know what you mean, the only thing thats bugging me is that i am 100% sure my wifi settings were... sleep when screen turns off... so for wifi to be on 99.9%??? Shouldnt that setting ensure the widi is not on when the screen is off?

[Q] A few questions.

First of all, I'm doing this guide (wiki[dot]cyanogenmod[dot]com/wiki/Troubleshooting#Battery_recalibration) since I recently rooted and flashed CyanogenMod 7.0.3. One of my questions was this: What's the quickest way to drain my battery? Currently, I have airplane mode off, wifi on, sync on, GPS/Navigation on, and I'm watching a Netflix movie with the screen at the brightest setting. It's been like this for maybe ten minutes and it's still at 100%. Since I'm going to sleep soon, I was hoping it would be quicker to eat up the battery.
Secondly: 'Cell Standby' keeps eating up all my battery. Seeing as how I don't have a cell coverage plan and I always use my phone with airplane mode (with wifi on), why does 'Cell Standby' use so much power?
Anyways, does anyone have any more battery saving options? I wouldn't like to turn off wifi or sync.

Have you tried different radios? also you can overclock and undervolt, those all can make a huge difference in your battery life.
Set you brightness to a low level and turn off auto brightness.
Use a darker colored background, this will normally use less lcd power.
Also GPS can eat up alot of battery.
You may want to change your sync/ push options to update less often.
Not too familiar with the cell standby eating up battery life, normally with airplane mode this should stop the phone from searching for service. also try battery calibration after you install any rom. you can find this in the market.
Hope this was somewhat helpful.
good luck!

[Q] Weird battery behavior on MG5 (I9500)

Hey guys..
I am on Rooted MG5 with Persues Alpha 9. I have been facing this issue since ever I flashed MG1 and then MG5... Battery consumption on ideal mode is ridiculous..
When I go to sleep (12AM), I keep my phone's Wifi On... When I wake up (7.30AM) almost 20% of juice is consumed.. Even when Power Saving Mode is enabled.
Couple of days back, I tried turning off Wifi and Mobile Data connection.. Even then around 10-15% of battery was consumed. I don't really understand why does it take that much battery..
Yesterday I tried different experiment. I put my phone on Airplane mode, disabled Wifi, Enabled Power Saving mode.. Battery consumption was like 4-5%.. I still feel for phone in ideal mode this is too much..
Anyone else is having the same issue? or is it just me? shall I try flashing another firmware? I am not at all happy with battery life
Use BetterBatteryStats to see what's using your battery or maybe wakelocks
I will try using BetterBatteryStats.. Hope It will show the culprit service.

[Q] Dell Venue Pro 8 - Set "Sleep" to Never?

Hi All,
I recently purchased a DVP8 and I love this thing. Problem is, it suffers from wifi issues in that once it goes to sleep, the wifi automatically goes to "limited" and I need to retoggle the wifi setting to get it connected. I've tried all kinds of fixes - uninstall windows updates and reinstalling drivers, but to no avail.
So I basically said screw it, and set "sleep mode" to never on the power management option, and no more wifi issues. Seems like the wifi doesn't reactive properly when coming out to sleep mode. My question is - will this damage the tablet in the long run? In terms of battery life, I would think the main factor is the screen on time. I can just turn the screen off with a tap of the power button. Is there really that big of a difference?
Thanks!
Pretty sure on tablets like the DVP8, tapping Power is the same as letting it go into Sleep through inactivity (called "Connected Standby"). Most Atom tablets don't have a different sleep mode than that, not even just turning the screen off. I haven't checked on the DVP8 specifically, though; maybe it's different from the others...
It won't damage the tablet to stay on all the time, so long as you aren't running the battery all the way down. That does damage it, a bit.
