I have this sudden problem where my top flashlight LED is shining very weak, does anyone else have the problem? What could I do to fix it? I am currently running MrGarak's MIUI 1.4.29.
Kind regards,
Cbxu
Swyped from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
Mine has always shined weakly, and so has every other DHD I've seen. Almost useless in daylight. This is particularly true for the flashing green LED, the orange charge light is a bit brighter. Also when viewing the phone at a slight angle, the LED is hidden by the earpiece bezel.
I'm using Revolution HD 5.1.4 and here the led isn't that bright...
We just need to accept this i quess
maybe i wasn't clear enough, but I meant from the flashlight on the back from the camera ...

I don't think it's ROM related. I'm on ARHD 5.1.4 too and both LEDs are bright.
Different ROM
Try flashing a different ROM. If that doesn't work, it might be hardware related.
It's not a rom problem it's just the default light brightness.
so one led always was brighter than the other one? i thought they used to shine at equal brightness

Just half-blinded myself checking for you; mine both shine at equal brightness (ARHD 5.1.4 with 5.1.5 speed/battery patch). Tried using flashlight app and Google Goggles with light on.
Maybe try a different ROM to check (if it's causing you problems having one brighter), otherwise may be a hardware issue.
//sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk; all errors entirely intentional.
can you try to use torch app and see if this problem also appears there??
I used the torch and it did appear there too, i switched roms and there too. I guess it is a hardware failure.
sorry dude, now restore your backups and send it to htc.
dont believe its an user fault.

Hi there...
I am searching for hours now...
I want a Flashlight-App that uses the "ultra bright" mode..
all apps I found only were "medium bright"...
if you ever used a Flashlight-App on HD2 on Windows-Mobile, you should know, what I am talking about.
Only App I found was nexus-one-torch.
I think it "takes photos" to make the dual-LEDs go maximum brightness, but the disadvantage is: it flickeres alot..
Anyone knows a Flashlight-App that uses maximum brightness of the dual-LED-Flash on the HD2 with Android?
Thank you!!
Greetings from Germany!
I like Tesla led. it seems pretty good...
But Tesla LED is not as bright as Windows-Mobile or "Nexus One Torch".
It does not utilize the maximum led-brightness. :/
Why would you need the Max LED flashlight?
Are you gonna setup a party xD!
I think that.. its useless.. the "one" (referred to the settings/drivers) we got now is awesome.. i can clearly see everything in my room when the lights are off.
Because the device is capable of such a brightness..
aaaand...
BECAUSE ITS COOL!
and you risk damaging your led lights...

You risk destroying the LED's, they will burn out.
It doesn't matter what your own personal experiences are, they will break. Think of it like staring into a laser and not seeing instant visual disruption. It'll happen, just give it time and it'll mess things up.

Everything breaks eventually my friend. I admit it may shorten the leds life span but some might not care because they wont use their phone for years and years. I personally have been using high mode on my nexus one for over a year and its still going
If you need something brighter than tesla, wouldn't it make sense to just use a maglite? Phones are great for minor conveniences, but just like the cameras, if i wanted top quality photos, i'd buy a digital camera not try to squeeze quality out of an inferior cel phone cam. Same with the flashlight, great if u drop ur keys at night, not so much if you're trying to light up your whole backyard or something.
-HD2 Android-
i dont think the torch app really uses the brightest setting.
i think its a matter of being properly programmed/optimized for hd2.
You could try Mag Flashlight, it has two brightness levels, but I'm not sure if it can use dual LED
yeah i remember the stock Hd2 flashight was WAY brighter, it puts the ones on android to shame, i want it back!
Yes, I've downloaded all available flashlight apps on the android market for my htc hd2, and NONE of them have matched to the htc hd2's windows mobile version. That particular version had 3 settings, low medium and high. All of the android flashlight apps seem to match the MEDIUM setting that the windowsmobile version was able to output.
Can someone port or write an android app that's nearly identical to the stock htc hd2's flashlight app that had 3 settings, without the annoying 5 second demo animation at the beginning on how to use it? That third setting (high) was KILLER, and impressed all of my friends as to the htc hd2's dual led true potential!
Same here, anyone have found any program with full bright?
HERE IT IS! (well i think its it. IDK)
okay so i pulled this off my typhoon CM7. its the "Torch" app. it has a high brightness setting as well as a strobe feature. (i have my mini raves XD)
its in apk format.
put it in sdcard, use a file explorer to locate it and install it. it should work.
btw i forgot. if it works hit the thanks button have a good day.
Unfortunately, like everyone is saying even the one that you pulled from the typhoon (althought it says it is the highest possible setting) is not the brightest setting that WM was able to achieve. Anyone else still looking for this like me? If someone who knows what they are doing could do this, it would be awesome!
For those that don't understand why we want this, you haven't used the WM LED flashlight long enought. I actually have great stories that goes along with the brightness of HD2 flashlight in WM (from everyone envying me at concerts to saving a bunch of us in the middle of the woods after the sun went down in the middle of a hike that went wrong =P).
Hey, ever since i moved from winmo to android, and now from android to wp7, i've always missed something from wm. That is, the flashlight. It seems the flashlights on both Android and WP7, don't use the full capacity of the leds. What i'm saying is that they're very, very weak compared to the WM one. I don't know if it could be possible to make an application that takes more advantage of the dual leds' capacity. If someone can, please do, cuz' that was one of the amazing things of the hd2.

Thank you, but:
It's the same as the one I've got, the purpose of this thread is seeing if anyone can make a flashlight that uses the full capacity of the leds, like on winmo, because, if you compare, winmo's flashlight is much much brighter.
hmmm i never experienced this.. Torch and TeslaLED both use the LED at an insane level of brightness. when you turn on super light in Torch it gets ridiculous! and i think the WP7 HTC Flashlight app from the HTC HUB is identical to the brightness of the WM6.5 one. i haven't done extensive testing, but i have never experienced any real differences. one click is still nice and illuminated where as the three clicks on and that sucker is bright

I don't like the way you have to click through all the levels of brightness to get back to off with the wp7 flashlight. It would be better if you could set which brightness, then just push once for on and push again for off... not having to push to turn on, then push 3 more times to get it off, going through every level of brightness. What were they thinking when they designed that app? Am I missing some way to operate it differently?
dunno old boy but i only get 1 and bit of the LEDs light up, the bottom one comes on but barely.
Camera flash works fine however
Yeah exactly, its as if it used only one of the leds instead of the two
On winmo it was SO bright it was blinding.
On Android its brighter than WP7 but less than winmo.

yes it is avaiable and free one one of the threads in HD2 running Windows 7, I have it working great. If I find the thread Ill post it.
Not sure if anyone has had this happen before (I searched, but maybe didn't use the right terms).
Every so often (sometimes less than once a month, sometimes every week), the phone wakes to this sort of display where all the colours are inverted, and washed out. Requires me to reboot or wear sunglasses. See pic below, I also inverted the colours on the version on the right, showing the phone is really inverting and messing the colours up.
I have observed it with both ROMs: Gauner Desire HD, and imilka Incredible Sense 1.1 (currently running).
Any clues as to what is causing this?
A few times i had it when my phone sees intense light.dont worry its not a real problem.

I also hast ethisch Problem on some ROMs. But not all. Don't know what causes this issue...

Hi,
Imilka said that this was just a glitch.
Reboot,and it will go away.
It is not serious.
If it happens a lot, change ROMS.
Now with the 7740 mango update out could there be any hope for the camera drivers to work better with the HD2 since the Titan is from HTC? Or has this been a lost cause since most people are satisfied with the Candlelight no flash settings. J.W.

the problem is that the camera in the HD2 is kinda old now, unless a new device is released which uses the same camera we're out of luck with newer drivers.
The irony is that the actual CCD in the HD2 is more than capable of taking really good photos, even by todays standards, but the optics on the HD2 suck big time, which is why we have never had decent poor light photos.
All I want is for the green tinge to be gone. I found photos and videos of fairly decent quality otherwise, just would love to have an opportunity to take party pics and not look like a mermaid. The only solution for me at the moment is to use Android when taking pics, but Mango has better sharing facilities.

See i only get that green tint when the flash is on, i sware its to do with the timing, it seems like the flash turns off ever so slightly too quick,
Now light its self travels at a constant, but when that light interacts with different things, ie glass, different colours end up slowing down more than others, think of it like this, the harder something hits it, the easier it is to pass through, light has more or less energy depending on the frequency, which basically means some light ends up going faster than others as it passes throgh objects.
I think that the flash is turning off too quick meaning some of the light isnt actually making it to the CCD in time giving us a funny tint.
Id hazzard a guess that if you took off the screen protected to the camera or its IR filter it would actually be ok

YukiXDA fixed the green tint issue, and then unfixed it (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14473423&postcount=438). It seems that the flash is not in synch with the shutter opening, and at the moment of the shutter opening the LEDs are warming up(or cooling down) and are not giving the correct colour.
I think xbmod's hardware solution of removing the IR filter is fine if you only use WP7.5 on your HD2. But for those of us dual-booting, with a perfectly good camera on android, it seems a drastic measure, especially as the effect on the android camera are unknown as yet (no reply from xbmod to my question, maybe he does not dual boot).

Aye, thats what i said
Same cause same effect, just a different why!
Hadnt realised xboxmod had already done that, seems quite an extreme method!
you know, we're assuming its to do with the camera, there is every chance its actually the LED drivers thats buggered.

True, of course a simple solution is to set white balance to fluorescent or incandescent when taking photos under low light conditions (options not available to HD2 until SP1 I think), but it would be better to have a permanent solution.
hd2的相机驱动何时能有进展啊~~
I'm on my second N4. The first I didn't have long...stolen... but I remember how non existent the LED notifications were and that the volume just wasn't high enough for in car voice navigation. The rest of the phone was fab so I figured I had a faulty LED light and accepted the poor sound volume. Alas I didn't refer to this website because if I had have done so, having read the same complaints in many postings, I'm not sure I would have re-ordered. On the basis my new N4 would at least have a working LED I re-ordered and you guessed it....the same issues are present. Yes, I can install Light Flow but that is still a fix for a problem that I should not have to fix. Secondly the LED is so poor anyway that it may as well not be on the phone. The wife's iPhone 5 LED is positively like an aircraft strobe light by comparison. The N4 sound also is still not loud enough. Many people overcoming these issues by installing apps is a sign that LG need to address them properly either via a software update or on the next phone. One last whinge....even with Light Flow, I still don't get notification of emails. These two issues for me, LED & low sound, really let down what otherwise is a first class phone. Now I'm wiser if I need to replace again, I'm afraid it won't be a N4.
The iPhone 5 or any iPhone for that matter does not have a led notification light.
It does have a option to use the camera's led flash as a notification light though. Which is what you are seeing. And its not the same thing.
You might want to check out the thread on LightFlow in the apps forum, the Feb for the app hangs out there. LightFlow works perfect for me, though I don't use it for email notifications.
