[Q] Bookmarks - Focus General

Could have sworn the other day I skimmed over some threads on importing your bookmarks into a wp7 device. Now I can't find anything. Maybe I dreamed it up. Can someone point me in the right direction? I've got a bunch of links synced with myphone and then I got them into IE, but not sure how to get them actually on my phone.
Thanks!

I have tried searching the forum for this answer but either I am a horrible searcher or I was right and this is a unique problem.
I recently played with the Rogers rom but realized it wasn’t that amazing and went back to CyanogenMod 3.3.4(switched a couple builds in between, I will post those if you would like me to)
Ever since I went from Rogers to Cyanogen's mod I cannot send email or I cannot archive it. It looks like I have archived it on the phone but when I open my computer and see gmail, it shows all of those emails as unread. Also when I get a new email on my phone if I have tried archiving previous emails, I cannot see the archived emails but the number of emails changes as if all the archived emails were unread. It is like I can get email but it is a one way sync. Let me know if you need anymore info.
I hope I posted this in the right forum, I know that the dev forum is being flooded with questions.
Thank you!

A peculiar problem indeed.
Assuming you've already tried wiping (you have, right?), is this only happening on Cyanogens? Or all the other ROM's you tried as well? If you're not sure, try another ROM and see if the problem persists.
If this is persisting through other ROM's then go back to stock and see if it will work from there. Then, get back to us...
I have tried wiping(numerous times) and I have tried just standard JF builds. Still not working. I guess I may go back to T-Mobile Cupcake and Root from RC29(I hope I have the number right)
I'd really rather not have to do this but anyone else have any other idea?
Thanks!

Manila 2.1 Facebook Integration

surely there must be a quicker way of synchronising all your contacts, you have to go to the contact then press the updates button then press link profile....
wait 2 minutes for the list to load then select the person.
is there not a way i can connect it to activesync somehow? i have over 50 peoples profiles to link up to! any advice is much appreciated
what i did is i changed all of my contacts who have a facebooks names to how they exactly apear on their face book, this way when you link link all of their profiles their automatically linked right away. Since i flash alot this makes the process a whole lot easier
Does anybody have a problem with some contacts not syncing the pictures properly? Most of them work but some do not. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.
I'm on a Touch Pro CDMA. NFSFAN's ROM.

yepper..its happened on lots of roms lately, but only the last week maybe two weeks..dunno whats goin on with it. it used to work flawless for me.
Damn wrangler, only you and I seem to have this problem. Hopefully somebody can shed some light on it.
Hey, try something for me. If you use Outlook to sync contacts as well, try using the program Outsync. I get the same problem with the SAME contacts using that program. This would indicate to me that it's a privacy settings issue...or something wrong with facebook's server? It keeps getting weirder.

Grabbing contacts from nandroid backup, different rom

i was running modaco 2.2 for a few days, then i installed aosp 1.6 which i like a LOT better. I did a nandroid backup before the 1.6 install, and then did a wipe.
now, is there any way to get my contacts that were backed up with nandroid onto my current rom? i have a backup of modaco and an aosp backup, i need to get JUST the contacts out of my modaco backup...
:/
Try mounting the SD to your computer, going into the nandroid folder, and see what you can find.
- restore your Nandroid backup
- back up your contacts with a known working app (e.g., WaveSecure)
- zap back to the AOSP ROM
In the future, I recommend syncing your contacts with Google... MUCH easier to manage. Pay attention to the "sync groups" option to avoid syncing contacts you don't want.

i was thinking about restoring the backup, then syncing all contacts with google, restoring the 1.6 backup, and importing...
another question real quick; in aosp1.6 how can i get the contacts app that i am used to, that syncs with facebook? is it possible?

I thought syncing with google is one-way. That is, the phone pulls contacts from your google contacts but does not update your google contacts with new numbers/contacts you add on your phone. If I am incorrect, I'd like to know how to keep the contacts both on my phone and google in sync.

I can add as a google contact on my phone when I log in later online its their...its how several of my contacts have been put into Gmail. Also, when I need to add a new one with lots of contact info I type it on at the gmail website, then it appears on my phone shortly after.
I think that appointments are only one way.

Appointments sync both ways.
Syncing contacts with google is your friend, even if you don't like the idea of backing up contacts in the clouds. I'd suggest making backups online and on your desktop. A little overkill, but you never know if you'll lose one or the other

On your phone open up your contacts app and using the trackball scroll to the right until you highlight "groups". From there, you can press Menu and be given the options to sync whichever contacts you want. Now, since your contact list is already establish you'll have to do some re-arranging so everything is organized both on the phone and online.

A new answer to an old question...
If I should just leave this thread alone and make a tutorial, let me know. I was searching for the answer to the question in the OP, and when I couldn't find an answer, I just messed with it for a while. This is for anyone else who ever is looking for this and does a search that pulls this up like I did...
1) Be rooted, have a root file explorer on your phone, and have 7zip on your computer,
2) Put your SD with the Nandroid backup in your computer. Open the backup with 7zip.
3) In 7zip open the data.ext4.tar file.
4) Navigate to ~/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/
5) Pull the databases folder out of the Nandroid backup
Now that you have the databases folder out of the backup, you need to push that to your phone. There are several ways to do this, (adb etc...) but here is one way.
1) Plug your phone in to your computer and enable USB Mass Storage.
2) Drag the folder into your phone somewhere where you will be able to find it.
3) Use your root file explorer to copy the databases folder from your backup, and replace the current databases folder located at ~/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/
VIOLA!
When you open your contacts, all your old contacts from the Nandroid backup will be there.
*** Please let me know if I should put this somewhere else. I know resurrecting an old thread isn't usually good, as it doesn't help the OP. I can post a tutorial if needed, just let me know what forum to put it in, I am new around here. Hopefully this will help someone in the future who has this question. I wasn't able to find it anywhere.
wow your an idiot thx for bumping a thread thats over a year and this shouldnt even matter u can back up all your contacs on your sd card or through your google acount so epic fail for u
Wow man, I already said sorry in advance for pulling up an old thread. There are times where your fancy little backup idea doesn't work out, especially if it isn't your phone, or its too late... I searched for a long time for a way to do this and didn't find anything.
If my post didn't help you, that's your loss, but don't flame me for trying to help guys in the future...
And your fail comment doesn't quite account for all situations. Chill out and be a little more receptive. I'm new to the forums, and that right there makes we want to say "screw helping people" --- I don't think this is the message you would like to send to new members of a forum that you might ask questions on some day.
I'll take my advice elsewhere... As for you, go read a forum that helps you and quit flaming me.
Can we have a moderator delete my original post? Clearly it wasn't appreciated.

Dude, I needed this exact procedure tonight. Way faster than a backup/restore/restore, even if your backup works. So we can both be idiots together, I guess. Thanks!!

sync calendars form icalx.com with my HD2

Hello Guys!
First of all: Excuse my English, I'll try my best
Well, since yesterday I'm a proud owner of a HD2 and I'm slowly trying to get
everything fitted to my needs
I installed CHT, SecureW2 for WPA2-Enterpise access and so on, also my e-mail stuff works fine.
But I'm not able to find out if its possible to make my phone use my ical calendar file which I've stored on icalx.com.
This file is used by my laptop and desktop PC as well, but i do not really want to synchronize with Thunderbird Lightning all the time, I just want my HD2 to use the published file as well so that it is always up to date, so that i do not need to synchronize it every day.
Anyone knows if there a way to do that?
(I'm really sorry if I missed something similar using the search fuction, I only found problems related to syncing with thunderbird)
Oo falling off the first page goes pretty quick here!
Anyways...another question i have is: Is HTC Calender an application itself or is it just a graphical interface for the outlook calendar? I mean Outlook should be able to ready .ics or am I wrong here?
as theer are more users online now...I'll give it a last try.
Is there really nobody who has tried this before? I always had the impression that this is a common way to sync ones calendars

First of all: Your English is excellent!
And concerning your question: Have your read this thread? I'm not sure if it is what you are looking for. Also, I found this, which looks promising as well.
EDIT: LOL - this is a featured article on the xda-developers front page today: http://www.xda-developers.com/windows-mobile/icalendar-appointmentstasks-icalparse/ What a coincidence?
this is really LOL!
But thanks a lot, I'm already trying it out and despite a minor bug it seems to work quiet well!

T-mobile contact sync

Can someone let me know what/where t-mobile's contact sync .apk can be found in a rom (like ice), or maybe post it if it is handy? Loaded up evil's z rom the other day, went into contacts and unchecked sim card contacts from view and only 4 contacts showed up, one of them being myself. Haven't ever gotten around to loading contacts into google yet, this is an obvious reason to do so...would just like to get my contacts back on my phone. Tried to search in the market for it, but the only one I found apparently only works for 1 type of phone. Thanks in advance

I am not sure that will even work as it may rely on Sense and most rom don't have Sense framework only those that has Sense supported so if you even pull the .apk it may not work. But I see you don't trust google I use to be like that and at this point honestly I don't care if they want you they will find you so make your life easy and import it to Google. Now I know TMobile does not have export if you logon line and access it so what you need to do is have rom like stock rom or IG which has it and export it to CSV file and then import it to Google contact under Android.
Yeah, been meaning to clean up my contacts and import it all just hate getting caught with my pants down...so are you talking about the my sense framework or just sense in general? Do you think this is worth posting under evils rom since he ported it and would know the ins and outs and to see what he thinks or do I just need to bite the bullet? Thanks again...
why didnt you just do a contact sync with your gmail? thats what i always do. and it loads on every rom i link my gmail to super quick.

I did have it set up but believe that it only pulls contacts to your phone and doesn't push new ones back-correct me of I am wrong-just wouldn't be syncing my contacts to 2 different places if they both did the same thing...and haven't fully set up contacts in google yet other than emails...it is definitely the way to go...
So after a lot of searching on-line, bt syncing with my old phone, etc., etc.,...finally came upon this
http://yincrash.livejournal.com/188605.html
and it worked as far as Name, Home Mobile Phone, Home Phone, Home Email, Work Mobile Phone, Work Phone...just saved as a csv file and imported to my gmail...am now official thanks for the help
I've been using Ubuntu One Mobile as a back up plan. It has a small monthly fee though.
