All,
Given that AT&T has made this update to 1.8.3 about as confusing as humanly possible I was curious whether we yet had any confirmation on whether the 1.8.3 SBF files that are floating around the forums (ending in "_Service1FF" rather than the usual "_1FF") are in fact bit-for-bit or otherwise identical to what is going out OTA.
Fundamentally I suppose my question is whether the SBF that users have been using to date is a beta or a final (despite it being signed).
Yeah I want to know that too. I noticed that on the update message from att is saying that the update is somethin like 26 MB. And the sbf is 1.4 gb.

Update is just that......an update. SBF is full system flash. OTA update is released to public today and is final.
BTW, AT&T never made anything confusing. All they did was release the update. The community started all the other files flying around.

1.4GB files is the full sbf of Atrix.
update.zip or OTA update is about 29MB. just contain update file.
wouldn't applying update.zip over the already 'updated through sbf' devices solve the issue?

Did a little digging, but can't find my exact problem.
I'm on the leaked 2.3.340 using the update to 2.3.320 update, followed by the SBF to 2.3.340. I would like to update to the OTA, but need to know if it's necessary. I've seen posts about updating the kernel, radio, and stuff. Did the SBFs not update these files?
I attempted to use the 2.2 OTA SBF to go back and update, but that failed. My old nandroid of the 2.2 OTA is failing to update (it downloads, but reboots saying failed update). What should I do?
Is it just the patches that you want?
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...ystem-baseband-2-3-340-kernel-bootloader.html
Awesome, thanks. I'll scan that thread to figure out what and how to update.
I used the 2.3.320 SBF and then used the system updater in that link I provided for. 340. I don't know if it makes a difference since we both got to 340 in a different way.

Well, because of my upgrade method all I had to upgrade was my kernel. Working like a dream now.
Perfect. Glad you got it working.

DO NOT FLASH THESE OVER ROOTED DEVICES, UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
I will be adding more reliable download links as I can.

This thing is one big confusion
I'm not flashing it... but I have a question
Why would anyone want to flash it, if they flashed the leaked one weeks ago
What are these random reboots people are having?
Random reboots on my end. Flashed the .exe version. Rebooted more often when I had foursquare installed. Still Rebooted once uninstalled, but less frequent.

My Atrix 4g is rooted on 4.1.57 and I am not seeing the latest 1.8.3 update. help!
Me either. I'm pretty sure its not because of root though since others with root have gotten the update
Thats what I was wondering. I was able to update with the root last time, I don't see why this would be different
So we need to unroot and then update ?
And then root 1.8.3 with Gingerbreak?
Nothing should effect your ability to see it. If you have one of the pseudo roms installed, that will prevent you from installing it, however.
I don't think we need to un-root to see the update - that really shouldn't effect anything. Once we get to 1.8.3 GingerBreak will root it fine, the issue is just getting to that point via OTA Update which we aren't seeing
no root here and I'm still not seeing it yet.
1.8.3 isn't live yet FFS. So much damn misinformation floating around.

I would guess they're still in the process of "rolling out" the update. Just give it a little time.
My mom's Atrix is NOT rooted and isn't able to find the update. I have to flash the SBF through RSD Lite.

Rolling out doesn't mean live for everyone. Also, this update isn't official until ken releases Gingerblur 3.0 anyway, since the stock experience is pretty much a joke.
Is GingerBlur the best rom? // easy to install/update?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Just flash the sbf it doesn't wipe any data of course im not running any mods or "roms" other than root. It did get rid of root though and running gingerRoot wiped my internal storage (like it said it would), but i backed that up no harm ;-)
So my area in NC is not "live" yet it seems.
Not live in Philadelphia either

The patch isn't live yet folks! It's still being pushed out in testing.
I believe it's not root, but deodexed files which cause issues with updating. People with root have managed to update, but people like me who had GreyBlur had to flash back to 4.1.26, update to 4.1.57, update to 4.1.83, then root and sideload again. Also, before rooting, it's adviseable to use Kennethpenn's deodex flash for 4.1.83 first.
rooted, running gingerblur 2.5.. no update available yet here in south Florida. not too concerned about it though.. i did the HUSPA mod & i'm content for now
I am currently running a leaked version of 2.2.
Does anyone know if I will be able to get the ota update to 2.3 that's rumored to be coming out soon?
Thanks
From what I read, no, you cannot go directly from a leaked version to OTA. You will need to sbf back to stock froyo (will all bloatware intact) before you can get the OTA update. There is a link somewhere in the forums to the sbf files.

Wow. To be honest, I have never seen that system version. Anyway just go to the site I mentioned above and look for the droid x. You also could probably use a file called madderstock.zip which will accomplish the same the but I do not currently remember where to find it
U can find maderstock file here... Its a flashable .zip ... Same as sbfing your phone just apply using dxbootstrap

Google search sbf droid x 30.01. Lol that was my bootloader when I permanently bricked my first DX. But thats a different story.
You could try the newest sbf file as mentioned above. I actually am not sure if it will update your bootloader, but I haven't tried it so I would trust the person who posted it
Here is the info you need:
http://1kds.net/SBF-Page.php
You will have to get to system 2.3.340 to get the official update. You will need to be stock (you can have root). You have to have all bloat replaced, no bootstrap, and odexed. An sbf will do all this for you.
Sent from my DROIDX
The new update downloads, but after rebooting the phone, it decompressed the update, then flashes an exclamation point and sends me back into my regular Android, saying the system update failed.
I am rooted, but thawed all the bloatware (Amazon Kindle, Blockbuster, City ID, NFS, Skype, Swype, and VZ Navigator).
Would my best bet be to do a factory reset, or is the update even worth getting?
Thank you.
