Getting HD2 back to stock - HD2 General

Ok, so I've got quite a bit of a problem here. Please keep in mind that I'm relatively new to this. I've only flashed my 3G Slide before to CM7 using Clockwork so this whole Windows thing is new for me.
I recently purchased a used HD2. The previous owner had some custom Windows ROM on there, and I wanted to put Android on it being a fan of the platform. More specifically, CM7. So I managed to get Magldr on it, Clockwork on it, and CM7 on it. Here's where the trouble starts. When I boot CM7 the touch screen no longer works. It doesn't respond at all. After some searching, it appears that this is a hardware problem, so I have to send it to HTC.
I have been looking everywhere for stock stuff, but every thread tells me something different. I "think" I got this right, but when I boot the phone with the Vol Down, I get -
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
I found a thread where someone said this was correct and it was in fact stock. Then, 30 seconds later I found a thread where someone said THIS was stock -
PB81100HX-BC
SPL-1.42.000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x30
And the 20 seconds later, I find ANOTHER post saying that THIS is stock -
pb8 ss-b3
spl-2.10.0000 8g xe
microP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x40
So, what the hell is the deal? Does it depend on the ROM? Can someone point me in the right direction please? I'm completely lost.

It doesn't make any difference what the various places say. Go to the HTC site and download the correct ROM based on you serial number. Extract the .nbh file from the executable you download, put it in the root directory of an SD card with the name LEOIMG.nbh. Put your phone into bootloader and it should ask you to install the OS. Then you will have the correct ROM, SPL, and Radio for your device.
EDIT: You need to update your profile to say where you live and who is providing your phone service; that way you will receive more specific guidance to your questions.

That's much more specific, thanks. So the serial will be the S/N under the battery on the phone I'm assuming?
Edit: I cannot find the official list of ROMS on HTC's site. When my phone is selected, under downloads, all it lists is the user manual. I'll keep looking in the meantime, but if someone could give me a specific link that would be great.
Edit2: After looking some more, all I can find are ROMs for other countries. All of them say "Not for use with T-Mobile(US)." I go to the US site, and it doesn't give me ANYTHING for ROMs.
Edit3: I decided to search the T-Mobile site instead, and there it was. So now I'm going to take your advice from above. Wish me luck.

Bumping with an update.
So I found it and got it on there. I still have one question though. What's the red text in the bottom left corner during boot? Is that supposed to be there on a stock phone? It doesn't seem like it.
Picture: http://i54.tinypic.com/107p3t3.jpg
Edit: One more question. When I flashed the official HTC .nbh to my phone, it erases everything right? What is this Task 29 program I keep hearing about?

any spl that ends 0000 is a stock spl. (not necessarily YOUr stock spl, but stock none the less.)
tmous stock spls are 2.08.0000, 2.10.0000 and 3.03.0000 (and possibly 3.05.0000 i think ive seen mentioned)
you can only get tmous roms from the t-mobile.com website,(or from various mirrors, but only officially from t-mobile.com) they arent on the htc website.
the red text is known as the RGD info, R for radio version G for protocol (dont ask me) and D for rom version, yes they should be there, they are always there on a working winmo rom, stock or cooked.
when you flash the flashing process performs a task 28, which only formats certain areas of the nand. task29 formats all of it, (well all the rom area anyway, not radio or splashscreen)
the reason its done is when you flash a new rom, if its smaller than teh original, some old data can be left sticking out at the end, which can occasionally cause instability,
Thats the theory, in practice its very rare, however it can be usefull to reset the rom area when issues have occured, especially after playing with android nand roms, which build multiple partitions. Personally i havent task29'd in about a year.
Many people offer it as step 1 in solving any problem, regardless of the problem, which i think is a bit extreme, and nearly always only works because you have to reinstall everything, and not really solving anything itself.

Thank you so much for clearing all of that up. I am going to take it down to T-Mobile tomorrow to see what they can do about it. Is there anything I should tell them? Because certainly they'll ask me why the phone is still at the tutorial portion as if it's the first time it has booted up. I'm assuming I'll just tell them I did a factory reset? I just don't want to get turned away because I "tampered with the phone."
Thanks again, this has been a huge learning experience for me. I'm more of a computer guy, and I've been trying to get into working more with phones.

enter bootloader, and so long as it says one of the stock spl's i mentioned above, and it is running a stock rom from tmobile, then it will be fine. Playing dumb is always a good idea, too. Yes say you tried a hard reset.

I've not had to take mine back to stock, but now that you mention it I believe it may use IMEI rather than S/N.

I list the page that includes several devices.
EDIT: It is indeed IMEI.

Hello friends..
My HTC HD2 is Hang on startup screen...

what to do now?? help me...
if u suggest me to do flash to phone...than please tell me all steps in details..

Thank you in advance....
if you didn't do any flash on the phone before, and it's still locking at startup screen, even after hard-reset, and you're not comfortable in flashing it, you would probably be better off asking for warranty servicing.
If on the other side the phone has been tampared with before (for example HSPL'ed, flashed with custom rom/radio, ecc) then you should NOT send it for warranty and instead read a good deal of threads in the rom development HD2 forum here on xda, all the things you need to knw are in there.

thank you
here is a guide for flashing a rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
you do not need to do the hardspl stuff since your phone already has it.
please work out whether your phone is a TMOUS(t-mobile USA, 1024MB/1GB phone) as opposed to a EURO/AUS (Any carrier, 512MB phone). Once you know this choose a rom for your phone, the TMOUS roms are clearly labelled.
once you have done that, if you want to flash a custom rom, choose one you like the look of from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534
I really cant advise you on this its your own choice take a look at the pictures and the add/removed software lists and see if you like what they have done with it.
please note that many rom chefs(developers) have produced roms under the same name with different subnames, such as this energy rom:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784 it has 7 different versions, with different stuff removed/added.
As for going back to a official HTC rom, I am told(I am not 100% positive about this, if someone could confirm?) it is as simple as just getting the latest rom from the HTC website and installing it, HTC will guide you into downloading the right rom.
I have also seen that this removes your hardspl, so if you ever want to install a new custom rom again you will need to redo hardspl as per the instructions in that tutorial thread I linked.

[Q] My phone is not booting LEOIMG.nbh

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SOLVED
Thanks to all the helpers; it turned out that this was the problem
Finally!
I did a complete format (not a quick one) in windows on my 2 GB card, and now it is working. Think the quick format thing was to blame for this.... As we've all been warned from before.
It's flashin' now, so I'll give you a holler if something else is up ;-))

Hello,
I've tried to search around for a solution to this problem for a few hours, so I'll dare to ask my question in a new thread
To make things short! I'm trying to reset absolutely everything to the way it was when I got the phone; radio, stock ROM, bootloader etc because I experience trouble with the phone. The problems started after I used the HTC program from the HTC website to reinstall windows mobile (for the interested, more on that in the next section). I am now trying to flash LEOIMG.nbh to the phone via the bootloader - but nothing just plain happens. I am 120 % certain that I've done everything correctly - formatting SD card to FAT32, load LEOIMG.nbh to it (and not LEOIMG.nbh.nbh, or something else) - it just won't start, and displays the tri - color screen. Says something about 2.08 HSPL, so I think the bootloader version is correct.
So, for the interested - after using Android for a few days I decided I wanted to use WM because it's better for me. So as stated above, I used the HTC installer from the HTC website to install windows mobile over some custom ROM. But having trouble with the wifi, I think it didn't install the correct radio version - do you think I am correct? In any case, I decided I wanted to do it the correct way this time, and extract the RUU_signed file to SD card and go.
Some extra info...
When starting bootloader, it says
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
Numbers on HTC logo
R 2.15.50.14
G 15.42.50.11u

The stock ROM I am trying to flash, I got from the HTC support website
*I was not alloved to post links to external website, but it was supposed to be here ;-))*
So I've downloaded the latest ROM upgrade (in Norwegian, "ROM oppgradering" on the site) using a norwegian serial number I found in another thread. I've opened it with winrar, and extracted the RUU_signed.nbh file.. Does this answer you question? In one of the tutorials to reset the phone said for me to "download a RUU_signed.nbh file from *here*", but there were so many different files in there... So I just downloaded the official newest ROM upgrade from the HTC website.
My SD card is of size 16 GB, but right now I just tried with another one of 2 GB size. No change........
Why do you used a serial number which is not yours? The phone is stollen? (just kidding)... As an advice, if you want to be sure to flash the correct ROM use your own serial number on the HTC website.
If you bought your phone in another country (I've done this... from a country I can't even read a word) then put back in the original language.
When back to "original" you can always flash again the hardspl then the ROM you like in Norvegian.
Anyway with the info provided the radio has not been flashed.
info: when you say the radio flash through WiFI... nothing will never be flashed via Internet (cable or WiFi). It's downloaded on your computer then (and only then) flashed to your device.
Question: could your phone can access the SD when in your actual OS?
Idea: flash back to WM6 via USB then try again. It seems you're doing all good but that the SD is not recognized.
To be honest, I used the serial number on the forum because I couldn't be arsed to remove the battery.... )
I think you've misunderstood me a bit; I've not tried to flash the phone over wifi...
So, any suggestions as to what could be the reason for the bootloader not starting LEOIMG.nbh?

That's a good reason!!!
No make sure your phone access the SD. You're actually under Anrdoid or WinMo? Honnestly I don't understand your problem (I mean I understand your problem but can't understand why... very usefull post so)
euh... by the way. The only way to go out of the bootloader if you don't flash is to remove the battery no?
I'm trying not to get into reasons to make the post short and consise; suffice to say I got some troubles (memory leak, wifi) under winmo 6.5 after I've been doing some flashin. So I want everything back the way it was - radio, bootloader, winmo 6.5. Just as if I got it for the first time! I think after all the posts I've been reading this can be done by flashing that LEOIMG.nbh from som official stock rom with the bootloader.
BUT ---- the bootloader doesn't load LEOIMG.nbh!
You think 100% right.
I'll do the test on mine and post if it works or not (I'll only flash a radio, sorry but don't want to erase all my data).
Ok, I download radio 50.14 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787&highlight=radio
Rename exactly as you write in the post LEOIMG.nbh
Put on the root of my SD
Power the phone while holding vol down.
My phone asked directly if I want to update (so I pressed vol down to cancel).
You can try with the same file to see if the file you have is corrupted.
If it's the same... SD access problem??? So HW problem... not good.
You can try to reflash the HSPL just in case.
Don't know if it will help but my HSPL gives a different info:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x30
So all is the same except I have 0X30 and you 0x40
My HD2 is a European on (non-TMOUS).
Tried reflashing the HSPL. I noticed something interesting actually..
The screen flashes grey for about 100 ms! So when I enter bootloader with <vol down>, it shows tricolor screen, then flashes grey, then comes back into tricolor... Think I read something similar in another post...
Thanks for trying so hard to help mister! I don't know if it is my english or anything, but I'm trying to flash the entire stock ROM as described in another tutorial here (still can't post links...), not just the radio..
If I knew which radio was the correct one for me, I'd just flash that one instead, but I have not found any info on this anywhere..
I'll see if I can format the SDcard to FAT32 once more and try again..
Finally!
I did a complete format (not a quick one) in windows on my 2 GB card, and now it is working. Think the quick format thing was to blame for this.... As we've all been warned from before.

Good to hear that!
You learned me something with your format.

Touch screen not working after CM7 install on HD2

I just bought an HD2 from my friend and he had it running with some custom Windows Mobile ROM (dont remember which) and I wanted to put CM7 on it (like I did with my MyTouch 3G Slide). I got Magldr, Clockwork and CM7 with Gapps on it all fine but when I booted it for the first time (and several times after) the touch screen no longer worked. It's not responding at all. It just shows the little Android with "Press here to begin" or whatever. All of the buttons work fine, but the touch screen doesn't do anything.
This hadn't happened before I flashed it. Any ideas?
This just happened to my HD2 as well. It is completely un-related to software. If you do some digging you'll discover the numerous issues with the HD2 touchscreen. I supposed you just got unlucky.
I re-flashed the latest stock ROM and SPL (touchscreen didn't work on the stock ROM either), sent it back to HTC, and got it back in 3 days. Talk about service!!

Will they repair it even if I didn't buy it from them? I'm unfamiliar with how these places handle repairs. And if you could link me a guide on how to reflash stock everything it would be greatly appreciated.

Flash Original SPL (search)
Download Original ROM from HTC website
Or
Just give it to your friend, he will know what to do and ask him to send it for repair.
Ok, I'm new to this whole Windows thing so bear with me.
I did a lot of searching and whatnot on this kind of thing and I "think" I got it back to stock. When I hold Power now with Vol Down to the Red/Green/Blue/White screen I get this.
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
However, I found another post claiming that THIS was stock.
PB81100HX-BC
SPL-1.42.000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x30
So which one is it? I found a useful post to use the Windows Mobile Device Center to get it all back to stock, but I can't get the phone to connect as I'm now stuck at the "How-to" portion (because I just reloaded the stock ROM) and can't really enable anything without the touch screen.
Edit: I just read that this "might" be stock depending on what ROM I'm running. I don't have access to the Settings function since my touch screen doesn't work so how can I tell? I renamed the image to LEOIMG.nbh and flashed using RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.
And will I have to worry about uninstalling anything after flashing this? Like Clockwork?
And I'd rather not give it back to him. I have another phone to use in the meantime, I'd like to use this as an opportunity to learn

[Q] Back to stock ROM/OS from NAND Android for warranty exchange....for newbs.

Please forgive me if this has been answered in another thread already. I have 1-month old twins and don't have a lot of time to search for the exact answers I need. Plus, I'm a long time lurker and follower of dev instructions, but could not do anything like I do with my phones without the help of this forum. I need help!
I'm one of the HD2 owners with the ribbon cable/screen hardware issue. I did figure that part out on my own. See the links below if you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm under warranty, but I've NAND flashed Android onto my phone. I never paid attention to how to undo this because I have total replacement insurance on my phone. If a non-warranty issue ever came up, I had planned on just smashing my phone with a hammer and paying the deductible to get a new one. My current issue should be fixed for free under warranty, so I need to flash the stock OS/ROM and hard SPL.
1. I need to backup my phone, so I can easily reinstall all the programs, libraries, and databases that aren't on the SD card.
2. Then, I need to flash the USA T-Mobile shipped WM OS, and I'm told I need to change the SLP back too.
I can follow instructions and i'm quasi tech savvy, but if you start speaking in code, it's all Greek to me.
If there is anything I'm forgetting, please LET ME KNOW! Do I need to flash a different radio too?
I would appreciate any help, preferably in detailed instructions, you have on getting me back to warranty coverage status, so I can send my phone in for repair. I hope someone stickies this for the other novices out there. There seem to be a lot of others with this same issue right now.

Go to part 4) for a guide on uninstallation. Note however, since you said you have a t-mobile HD2, download a t-mobile rom. Look for it in the t-mobile site or here. Doing this will make everything a-ok.
THANK YOU
Thanks. I think I should be good now. I'm just hoping there isn't something I'm forgetting or don't know about. I'm always paranoid when I send a phone in. I posted the following in the link you sent me.
I'm sending my device in for warranty repair, so I'm going back to the stock ROM from NAND flashed Android.
I downloaded the US T-Mobile ROM from their site, extracted and renamed the RUU_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh, put that file on the card, and reset while holding the volume down button.
Now I'm stuck on the tricolor screen that reads:
PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x05
Serial
I'm stuck on this screen, and afraid to try to do anything else out of fear of bricking my phone.
What should I do next?
EDIT: Found out what I was doing wrong. I was holding the volume down button too long, so it was skipping the boot loader. Pressing shorter got me into the menu, and I was able to reflash with no problem.
I can't believe it's this easy!
My only question is, did this change everything back to when it was shipped to me? I have the T-Mobile WM USA ROM running now. This changed back my SPL too, right? Also, do I need to change the radio, or did the stock ROM take care of that for me too? I don't want to hear that I voided the warranty over some little thing I forgot to do.
you might need to check the spl version fromthe boot loader
thanks for the tip

it reads:
PB1120 SS-B3
SPL-2.10.000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x05
i'm pretty sure that's correct. i'll look it up.
new phone, no internet
so the new phone arrived today. i installed HSPL and the android build i had on the previous phone. the only problem is i don't have cell internet, only wifi. i can make and receive calls though. i just can't use the cell data connection. i've tried turning it on and off in the settings, but that doesn't help.
is there something i'm forgetting? do i need to flash a different radio?
solution found

[Q] Help with flashing NAND rom to HD2

Need help with flashing NAND ROM to my HD2. And before anyone starts screaming about me not looking at other threads or my question has already been answered please take a look and read everything I am about to post. I have been throught almost 30 different threads and have not found anything to help me with my current situation. To start off I will give a little bit of history ...I had my first HD2 for a few days before I decided to try and run android on it. I first started out with running android off of the micro sd card. Then I went into flashing an NAND rom to my phone. Everything was good with the phone until a few days ago the screen was completely black. Picked up a new HD2 and flashed another NAND rom on it and I did not like the way it ran so I went to flash another. Here's where my troubles started. I was using CWM to install the NAND roms and instead of going to update rom and choosing the zip there like the guide here "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044830" says, I cleared the cache formated my sd card and then tried to install the new rom. It went through to say the it was finished but when restarted my hd2 it says theres no Z image......so I figured I did do something wrong and I decided to flash the original Windows 6.5 rom back on and start over completely. I was able to get to the windows rom but now I can not flash or install anything like mgldr or an updated radio. I am hoping that someone here can help me figure this out. So i guess my question is what did I do wrong and where do I go from here?
1. Ensure you have HSPL 2.08 installed. Power off the phone, hold the volume down and press the power button to find out.
2. Flash Magldr and a partition layout/ ClockWorkMod or cLK and CWM
3. Find a ROM for the boot loader you flashed, flash and enjoy.
If you are not already using it, use ksubedi's tool (sticky in NAND forum)...
Swyped from my HTC HD2 running CM7 (Gingerbread 2.3.5)
When I boot into the screen heres all that I see.
PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x05
and at the bottem it says serial which changes to usb when I connect it to my computer. The problem I have is when I attempt to flash MGLDR onto the phone it connects and the phone changes to the splash screen where it says HTC and gives the percentage of the operation. But it stays at 0% and never moves forward. If i could figure out how to include images in my post I would send screenshots of everything that I am trying.
Also I did attempt to use the HD2 Toolkit and I end up with the same result when I attempt to flash everything myself.
ph03n!x thank you very much sir I believe you have helped me with my issue. I was stupid and fustrated and did not pay attention enough. I did not install HSPL 2.08.....it was SPL 2.08 that was on there. I did not pay attention that the H was missing all I saw was that the 2.08 was right so I figured something else was wrong. I successfully installed the HSPL 2.08 so I believe that I should be good to now.

FORGET ABOUT IT. i didnt see your last post.
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
this line means you dont have hspl.instead of 8g xe there must be HSPL. so you should change it to hspl 2.08 using hspl4 or hspl3. or else you cannot flash mgldr.
Everything is good to go now..only issue I am having is now that I am trying to download another rom the zip file that I get is not coming with all the required files. Unfortunately I am unable to post on that particular developers thread to ask about it. "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028693" I am attempting to flash this particular rom using MGLDR but the zip file is not coming with the DAF.exe file or any other executable files. If someone has any ideas on what I am doing wrong I would greatly appreciate any assistance. I do apologize if I changed the topic of this thread but I cannot post on the particular thread because I do not have more then 10 posts.

Most of the recent ROMs need to be flashed via Clockwork Mod. You have to follow this tutorial to flash a ROM via clockwork mod. It isn't hard, there is no need to be worried.
I have to apologize I was just a little to hasty in asking for help again. I had originally used CWM to flash the roms when I first did it on my original hd2, but because of the messup I caused with my second hd2 I figured I would follow a guide just to make sure I was doing everything correctly. I followed the guide here "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948" and in the process of downloading the rom the rom details said to flash with MGDLR or CLK so I figured I wasnt going to have to use CWM anymore. But after a bit of playing around I figured out that what I was doing wrong was trying to flash a CLK version with CWM instead of flashing the MGLDR version. I appreciate everyones help.
