I just bought an HD2 from my friend and he had it running with some custom Windows Mobile ROM (dont remember which) and I wanted to put CM7 on it (like I did with my MyTouch 3G Slide). I got Magldr, Clockwork and CM7 with Gapps on it all fine but when I booted it for the first time (and several times after) the touch screen no longer worked. It's not responding at all. It just shows the little Android with "Press here to begin" or whatever. All of the buttons work fine, but the touch screen doesn't do anything.
This hadn't happened before I flashed it. Any ideas?
This just happened to my HD2 as well. It is completely un-related to software. If you do some digging you'll discover the numerous issues with the HD2 touchscreen. I supposed you just got unlucky.
I re-flashed the latest stock ROM and SPL (touchscreen didn't work on the stock ROM either), sent it back to HTC, and got it back in 3 days. Talk about service!!

Will they repair it even if I didn't buy it from them? I'm unfamiliar with how these places handle repairs. And if you could link me a guide on how to reflash stock everything it would be greatly appreciated.

Flash Original SPL (search)
Download Original ROM from HTC website
Or
Just give it to your friend, he will know what to do and ask him to send it for repair.
Ok, I'm new to this whole Windows thing so bear with me.
I did a lot of searching and whatnot on this kind of thing and I "think" I got it back to stock. When I hold Power now with Vol Down to the Red/Green/Blue/White screen I get this.
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
However, I found another post claiming that THIS was stock.
PB81100HX-BC
SPL-1.42.000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x30
So which one is it? I found a useful post to use the Windows Mobile Device Center to get it all back to stock, but I can't get the phone to connect as I'm now stuck at the "How-to" portion (because I just reloaded the stock ROM) and can't really enable anything without the touch screen.
Edit: I just read that this "might" be stock depending on what ROM I'm running. I don't have access to the Settings function since my touch screen doesn't work so how can I tell? I renamed the image to LEOIMG.nbh and flashed using RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.
And will I have to worry about uninstalling anything after flashing this? Like Clockwork?
And I'd rather not give it back to him. I have another phone to use in the meantime, I'd like to use this as an opportunity to learn

[SOLVED] Help, installed wrong ROM (european), now stuck with "Stick Together" screen
I bought a T mobile USA HTC HD2 phone in the U.S. and tried to install Artemis ROM which is for european phones only.
So now I'm stuck with the pink welcome logo ("stick together").
If I press the volume button and soft reset, I can see the screen with my HSPL.
I tried to do hard reset, but it didn't work.
Please help me how to roll back to original rom, or to install any eligible for T mobile usa rom.
Thank you!
Sweet, so that means you are able to get into bootloader?
Just flash task29 then flash a tmous rom
Thanks for the reply.
Could you please exlpain what task29 is and how to do this? Or where I can find the info.
I am a complete noob in this stuff (obviously).
Thank you
Remove SD Card, and Sim Card....
First get into bootloader by holding down the volume down button and power on the device.
next down load this file and run it as administrator: Follow the prompts and instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19
When it hits 100% get ready to hold down the volume button again.... the HD2 will reboot and holding down the volume button will get you back into the bootloader.
Now get a US compatible rom and flash it the same way you just did the Task29. This time when its done flashing remove the battery and re insert your SD card and Sim.... let the phone boot up and you will be good to go.
Hope that Makes sense lol.
illconn, thank you for detailed answer!
I'll try it when I'm home. The only thing though is where can I find the US compatible ROM?
update
I got, I thought I'd need official T Mobile's ROM from their web site, but I'll be able to use any of the ROMs available in XDA. Right?
to be safe i would use the any of the ones in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653114
Once you read up a little more on here, and understand how some of the things work you can see there are a few more roms that you can use.
But before you can do any of that you need to make sure your phone has the right HSPL... there is a SSPL but just do the HSPL its easy.... now if you have already done this then great. If not start by reading here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
GL and welcome to the world of custimization!!
Yeah, I decided to try to understand the process of changin the ROM.
Now I understand that SPL boots the device. And HSPL allows to boot custom ROMs.
So what is task29 for?
Task29 pretty much formats the internal memory.... although putting a new rom on the device erases, it sometimes leave bits and pieces of the old roms.... so its recomended you Task29 before a new rom so that you dont have any complications later. For example some people will have a lot of freezing, or programs crash, once they task29 and reflash problem solved.

Thank you!
And last thing, just want to make sure everything is ok, not to repeat the same mistake. When I go to the bootloader, I get Red-Green -Blue-White screen with this data:
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
Serial
That's okay to do the custom ROM, right?

Yes that is correct; by it showing "CotullaHSPL" that means you HSPL'd your phone and can download any compatable ROM onto your device, but just as posted above use task29. I was afraid to use it myself but after flashing my phone now about 30 times I've gotten over it.
Here is the link to the stock ROM's :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655653
if you use the 2.10.0 it will be back to stock. (but you can still burn ROM's onto your phone) because it won't erase you HSPL, if you run it from your computer.
Make sense?

installed the wrong ROM for ATOM
i was looking for a WM 6.5 rom for atom and little did i realized that ive downloaded the ROM for exec. it did installed fine in my ATOM but it always bugs me when it is booting up. it only shows the boot screen with ATOM exec LOGO and suddenly shuts down. i was trying to install back the old rom but it says "The ROM that i am trying to install is not designed to work for this device...". is there any way i could remove the atom exec rom in my device and install my old ROM? i badly need help and this is the last place i could get them. thanks very much! any help will greatly be appreciated. Wow. Number one, triple posting THE SAME QUESTION. Uhm, no. Number two, this is the HD2 or LEO section, NOT THE ATOM ONE. You won' t get any help here, you need to go post in the atom section.
Gotta say....I did the same thing as |OP|....this thread is making me very comfortable to fix my problem. Kudos to you guys for being patient with |OP|...it helped another newbiew
I talked to the number on #1 post and all I got is that I must ship the old one first. I told him about my location that shipment would be problem (from me to them, I can arrange shipment to US address and resend to me). Damn, now I must get it on my own for $50 or how much they cost (no ebay, they are mostly scams). Plus I got no Transformers, the card broke down and I had to format it (didn't help for fixing the freezing issue).
I talked to them over Skype though, because.. well I live in Europe. I'm not sure he understood me well, I have a sore throat and I'm having obstacles talking .
Hello friends..
My HTC HD2 is Hang on startup screen...

what to do now?? help me...
if u suggest me to do flash to phone...than please tell me all steps in details..

Thank you in advance....
if you didn't do any flash on the phone before, and it's still locking at startup screen, even after hard-reset, and you're not comfortable in flashing it, you would probably be better off asking for warranty servicing.
If on the other side the phone has been tampared with before (for example HSPL'ed, flashed with custom rom/radio, ecc) then you should NOT send it for warranty and instead read a good deal of threads in the rom development HD2 forum here on xda, all the things you need to knw are in there.

here is a guide for flashing a rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
you do not need to do the hardspl stuff since your phone already has it.
please work out whether your phone is a TMOUS(t-mobile USA, 1024MB/1GB phone) as opposed to a EURO/AUS (Any carrier, 512MB phone). Once you know this choose a rom for your phone, the TMOUS roms are clearly labelled.
once you have done that, if you want to flash a custom rom, choose one you like the look of from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534
I really cant advise you on this its your own choice take a look at the pictures and the add/removed software lists and see if you like what they have done with it.
please note that many rom chefs(developers) have produced roms under the same name with different subnames, such as this energy rom:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784 it has 7 different versions, with different stuff removed/added.
As for going back to a official HTC rom, I am told(I am not 100% positive about this, if someone could confirm?) it is as simple as just getting the latest rom from the HTC website and installing it, HTC will guide you into downloading the right rom.
I have also seen that this removes your hardspl, so if you ever want to install a new custom rom again you will need to redo hardspl as per the instructions in that tutorial thread I linked.

Ok, so I've got quite a bit of a problem here. Please keep in mind that I'm relatively new to this. I've only flashed my 3G Slide before to CM7 using Clockwork so this whole Windows thing is new for me.
I recently purchased a used HD2. The previous owner had some custom Windows ROM on there, and I wanted to put Android on it being a fan of the platform. More specifically, CM7. So I managed to get Magldr on it, Clockwork on it, and CM7 on it. Here's where the trouble starts. When I boot CM7 the touch screen no longer works. It doesn't respond at all. After some searching, it appears that this is a hardware problem, so I have to send it to HTC.
I have been looking everywhere for stock stuff, but every thread tells me something different. I "think" I got this right, but when I boot the phone with the Vol Down, I get -
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
I found a thread where someone said this was correct and it was in fact stock. Then, 30 seconds later I found a thread where someone said THIS was stock -
PB81100HX-BC
SPL-1.42.000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x30
And the 20 seconds later, I find ANOTHER post saying that THIS is stock -
pb8 ss-b3
spl-2.10.0000 8g xe
microP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x40
So, what the hell is the deal? Does it depend on the ROM? Can someone point me in the right direction please? I'm completely lost.

It doesn't make any difference what the various places say. Go to the HTC site and download the correct ROM based on you serial number. Extract the .nbh file from the executable you download, put it in the root directory of an SD card with the name LEOIMG.nbh. Put your phone into bootloader and it should ask you to install the OS. Then you will have the correct ROM, SPL, and Radio for your device.
EDIT: You need to update your profile to say where you live and who is providing your phone service; that way you will receive more specific guidance to your questions.

That's much more specific, thanks. So the serial will be the S/N under the battery on the phone I'm assuming?
Edit: I cannot find the official list of ROMS on HTC's site. When my phone is selected, under downloads, all it lists is the user manual. I'll keep looking in the meantime, but if someone could give me a specific link that would be great.
Edit2: After looking some more, all I can find are ROMs for other countries. All of them say "Not for use with T-Mobile(US)." I go to the US site, and it doesn't give me ANYTHING for ROMs.
Edit3: I decided to search the T-Mobile site instead, and there it was. So now I'm going to take your advice from above. Wish me luck.
Bumping with an update.
So I found it and got it on there. I still have one question though. What's the red text in the bottom left corner during boot? Is that supposed to be there on a stock phone? It doesn't seem like it.
Picture: http://i54.tinypic.com/107p3t3.jpg
Edit: One more question. When I flashed the official HTC .nbh to my phone, it erases everything right? What is this Task 29 program I keep hearing about?
any spl that ends 0000 is a stock spl. (not necessarily YOUr stock spl, but stock none the less.)
tmous stock spls are 2.08.0000, 2.10.0000 and 3.03.0000 (and possibly 3.05.0000 i think ive seen mentioned)
you can only get tmous roms from the t-mobile.com website,(or from various mirrors, but only officially from t-mobile.com) they arent on the htc website.
the red text is known as the RGD info, R for radio version G for protocol (dont ask me) and D for rom version, yes they should be there, they are always there on a working winmo rom, stock or cooked.
when you flash the flashing process performs a task 28, which only formats certain areas of the nand. task29 formats all of it, (well all the rom area anyway, not radio or splashscreen)
the reason its done is when you flash a new rom, if its smaller than teh original, some old data can be left sticking out at the end, which can occasionally cause instability,
Thats the theory, in practice its very rare, however it can be usefull to reset the rom area when issues have occured, especially after playing with android nand roms, which build multiple partitions. Personally i havent task29'd in about a year.
Many people offer it as step 1 in solving any problem, regardless of the problem, which i think is a bit extreme, and nearly always only works because you have to reinstall everything, and not really solving anything itself.

Thank you so much for clearing all of that up. I am going to take it down to T-Mobile tomorrow to see what they can do about it. Is there anything I should tell them? Because certainly they'll ask me why the phone is still at the tutorial portion as if it's the first time it has booted up. I'm assuming I'll just tell them I did a factory reset? I just don't want to get turned away because I "tampered with the phone."
Thanks again, this has been a huge learning experience for me. I'm more of a computer guy, and I've been trying to get into working more with phones.
enter bootloader, and so long as it says one of the stock spl's i mentioned above, and it is running a stock rom from tmobile, then it will be fine. Playing dumb is always a good idea, too. Yes say you tried a hard reset.

I've not had to take mine back to stock, but now that you mention it I believe it may use IMEI rather than S/N.
http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
I list the page that includes several devices.
EDIT: It is indeed IMEI.
Please forgive me if this has been answered in another thread already. I have 1-month old twins and don't have a lot of time to search for the exact answers I need. Plus, I'm a long time lurker and follower of dev instructions, but could not do anything like I do with my phones without the help of this forum. I need help!
I'm one of the HD2 owners with the ribbon cable/screen hardware issue. I did figure that part out on my own. See the links below if you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm under warranty, but I've NAND flashed Android onto my phone. I never paid attention to how to undo this because I have total replacement insurance on my phone. If a non-warranty issue ever came up, I had planned on just smashing my phone with a hammer and paying the deductible to get a new one. My current issue should be fixed for free under warranty, so I need to flash the stock OS/ROM and hard SPL.
1. I need to backup my phone, so I can easily reinstall all the programs, libraries, and databases that aren't on the SD card.
2. Then, I need to flash the USA T-Mobile shipped WM OS, and I'm told I need to change the SLP back too.
I can follow instructions and i'm quasi tech savvy, but if you start speaking in code, it's all Greek to me.
If there is anything I'm forgetting, please LET ME KNOW! Do I need to flash a different radio too?
I would appreciate any help, preferably in detailed instructions, you have on getting me back to warranty coverage status, so I can send my phone in for repair. I hope someone stickies this for the other novices out there. There seem to be a lot of others with this same issue right now.

Go to part 4) for a guide on uninstallation. Note however, since you said you have a t-mobile HD2, download a t-mobile rom. Look for it in the t-mobile site or here. Doing this will make everything a-ok.
THANK YOU
Thanks. I think I should be good now. I'm just hoping there isn't something I'm forgetting or don't know about. I'm always paranoid when I send a phone in. I posted the following in the link you sent me.
I'm sending my device in for warranty repair, so I'm going back to the stock ROM from NAND flashed Android.
I downloaded the US T-Mobile ROM from their site, extracted and renamed the RUU_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh, put that file on the card, and reset while holding the volume down button.
Now I'm stuck on the tricolor screen that reads:
PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x05
Serial
I'm stuck on this screen, and afraid to try to do anything else out of fear of bricking my phone.
What should I do next?
EDIT: Found out what I was doing wrong. I was holding the volume down button too long, so it was skipping the boot loader. Pressing shorter got me into the menu, and I was able to reflash with no problem.
I can't believe it's this easy!
My only question is, did this change everything back to when it was shipped to me? I have the T-Mobile WM USA ROM running now. This changed back my SPL too, right? Also, do I need to change the radio, or did the stock ROM take care of that for me too? I don't want to hear that I voided the warranty over some little thing I forgot to do.
you might need to check the spl version fromthe boot loader
thanks for the tip

Hello experts,
I've got big problems with htc HD2 warranty support.
A couple of weeks ago, my HD2 hanged up. So I tried to reboot the device, but it won't boot. Also a hardreset could not solve the problem.
After some tries it boots into WM, but it always shows me the message "Low system memory ...".
Also it crashed again, while using. Booting back to WM again was more then luck.
I called the support and they advised me to flash the new firmware 3.14. I was not able to flash the the phone via PC, after using google I flashed it via SD-Card. The flash was successful, but the problems I mentioned where still the same. I called the support again and I was invite to sent the phone for repair to htc repair Center.
1 1/2 Weeks ago, I received the answer of Arvato (german repair center). They won't repair the phone, because it was manipulated. Flashing from FW 1.66 to 3,14 was the only flash I ever made. No using of custom ROM or sth. like that, never.
So I called Arvato and they told me, that there is an wrong SPL version installed.
At this moment SPL 3.03 is the current version on my phone. After reading a lot, I figuered out, that FW version 3.14 installs the SPL 3.03. Arvato won't believe this, I have to call htc, to get an new repair ticket.
I called htc support again, the supporter told me I have to use the contact formular on htc website, and I do so.
Yesterday, after more then a week of delaying, they send me an email with the argumentation there is a wrong microP(LED) and microP(Touch) version on my Phone, wich are evidence for manipulating the phones software. No Explaination, No Data, just this statement. I never heard somthing about it and I didn't find enough informations about these both things.
No mention about the pretended wrong SPL.
Can someone please explain me, what microP(LED) and microP(Touch) data are.
How could they change?
Is it possible that I changed these Data because I flashed the Phone via SD-card?
Is there a difference between FW 1.66 to 3.14 or is maybe something simular in these Data?
Currently on my phone:
microP(LED) 0x05
microP(Touch) 0x50
I really get crazy with the htc people and the barefacedness of them.
This won't let me sleep, as you can see
I'm afraid that htc will never give me an explaination about that and they just don't want to repair, because of economical reasons.
So thank you for everything, that can help me.
lg zoombi.
Hi zoombi, first of all a warm welcome on the XDA board!
If you have flashed via the sd-card there is no way that they can ever see if it has been flashed with a non HTC rom. And you have never ever done that it seems.
Where did you get the flash rom you put on the card? Did you get it from the HTC website via your serial number?
And actually why couldn't you flash via pc?
I and many other people are also having issues with the HTC warranty. Plenty of stories if you read around.
Call HTC and talk to the support person. If they do not understand your story or don't want to do anything go to the next step.
After that call they will send you a form you need to fill in to ask you if you are pleased with the service. Fill it in like you had *** support on the phone and an 'escalation' person will call you back.
Do yourself a favour and read the EU law about warranty and your rights as a consumer.
You can select German on the page.
