Hello my phone HTC TyTN I has a problem with screen display -damage of connection tape. I bought a new phone but now I would like to synchronise my outlook with TyTN.
How to do that without screen functions?
When I connect the phon to PC Windows Mobile Device Center shows me an error during synchronisation. I belive that I should choose some button on LCD screen of my phone..

Use application like "My Mobiler" to "see" your mobile screen on your desktop/laptop & then synchronise....
OOOPS ...I did'nt see that you resolved already.
Good luck with the contacts sync...

Hi Guys!
I've got a secondary XDA Executive that I keep as a fall-back if the main one breaks down. Here is my question.
I've copied everything from the MAIN XDA to the secondary one (using SPB Backup) and they function identically. The only problem is that if I try and connect the SECONDARY device to my PC to sync it with Outlook it thinks it's the MAIN device (maybe that's no surprise) and it really screws up the sync process. I just wondered where the settings are held for the 'partnership' for ActiveSync on the PDA???
I tried changing the device name but it still thinks it's the MAIN device.
I guess what I'm trying to do is get the SECONDARYdevice to NOT have any partnership at all so I can set it up as a second partnership on my PC
Any thoughts?
Thanks
S
In ActiveSync:
Menu->Options click on the computer which you have the partnership with and then click "Delete".
That should delete the partnership that your phone has stored on it and the next time you connect it to your computer it will prompt you to create a new partnership.
ActiveSync
Thanks for the quick reply!
Doh! It's always the simple solutions that get me! ))
Brilliant!
PS Do you happen to know where that info is stored (that gets deleted) is it a single file or an entry in the registry?

No idea sorry, just had to do it myself recently and only figured it out after trying for about 2 hours...
Hi!
Is syncing 2 WM devices easy?
For example, if I already have TyTn II syncing, and get a Touch HD, will Microsoft ActiveSync just recognise Touch HD?
Will it then synch with Outlook smoothly?
I guess if I run other installers for software, the 'installer' will pick up both WM devices and ask which one to install to.
Off to do some searchng !

I have a tytn and a diamond. I've never connected them at the same time (that way lies madness), but there is no problem connecting them both tp the same computer at different times. I use that to copy/sync contacts (etc.) from one to the other. If you are installing software it just installs it to the phone currently connected. This works.
Actually what I prefer to do is connect my phones only as guests (I don't like syncing with outlook) and I actually use funambol (via http://my.funambol.com/ ) to sync both phones over-the-air. In this mode I just use the pc in guest mode to install software. That's what I do, but it's not what you asked.
Hi trentend !
thanks for your quick reply ! I understand and would never connect them at the same time.
I do not know about funambol, but I will search and read up about it. I sync with the university exchange server and sometimes use the usb cable, sometimes via the WiFi connection.
My Touch HD should arrive tomorrow am so I am preparing myself for what to do. First, charge it up, then..........

If you're happy syncing with outlook there is little to be gained by using Funambol. I like the fact that I can sync (and that ties in with my google mail, and my contacts and calendars are kept up to date irrespective of which phone I use) wherever I am (using 3G or whatever data connection that I have), and I don't have to use Outlook. I'm not an outlook fan.
You're welcome. It's not often I can help, but when I can I'm happy to. I also have a touch HD on its way (when Orange have it in stock) to replace my tytn. So we may shortly be in a very similar boat.....
thanks again trentend!
I think I am synching directly with the Exchange Server. In Microsoft ActiveSync, contacts, calendar and email are all show as residing on the exchange server.
I am preparing a folder now ready to copy ringtones, music etc to the memory card, then I will install Tom Tom and other programmes.
I also need Japanese on my Touch HD and hope that is easy to do. When I got the TyTn II, it was a fiddly process! Use CE-Star these days.

I have a brand new Vista PC with Outlook, but no contacts. I also have HTC HD with a bunch of contacts on it. I am trying to synchronize those two in such a way that HTC contacts are imported onto PC. It seems it only works one way - PC to HTC. At least Vista is telling me contacts are successfully synched, but I see nothing in outlook. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Hmmm....I came acrosss this option somewhere...have a look in ActiveSync (when your device is connected, otherwise everything will be greyed out), tools->options. See if you can't find 'synchronise' instead of 'overwrite' (or something similar) in a drop down box somewhere.
Or try rightclicking on 'contacts' in the lower part of the ActiveSync panel.
Activsync doesn't work with Vista. Download Windows Mobile Device Center from here....http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx

That is what I am using.
Have you tried clicking on 'more' in mobile device center and going to 'manage a partnership'?
do you have outlook installed??
i had to install it to pass the contacts from nokia to blackstone
pc sync works on vista. it actualy comes with it so no instalation is required

There is an optional setting for this. When syncing either you replace on the desktop, or on the device. I think you have to change from PC>>DEVICE to DEVICE>>PC.
How to change that option??

The screen of the phone is only cracked physically as it is still there for the operating system. Therefore just install a program on your computer called MyMobiler which emulates de phone on your pc. Just plug the phone via usb and it should instal automatically.
Anoter Solution could be Jeyo Mobile Companion, if Active Sync still works.
With that Program you can import and export all important Data from your mobile. Just connect it via USB or a cradle and you are ready.
Same way for restoring the contacts, etc. to your working TYTN
