Hi, I have noticed that when someone leaves me a voicemail I get a notification that ###-#### left a message in your voicemail. After few minutes it goes away
Is there a way too keep track of it, like a Voicemail Log? I know about Google voice, but right now its only by invitation
I have already searched for an app like that in market place but no luck.
EDIT: Just learned that I have visual mail in my plan from rogers and also learned that I DO NOT see the number ppl are leaving message from, its just my voicemail number. And found one cool thing, IF YOU ARE TIRED OF TYPING YOUR PASSWORD EVERYTIME YOU CALL YOUR VOICEMAIL. Goto call setting> Voicemail> In the number box after your voicemail # put ,xxxx (xxx is your password for voicemail).
If you do this correctly you dont need to type in your password again and again.
Hey everyone!
I'm in meed for some help! I am running CM7 and the sprint VCMC does not work with it so now I'm trying to get Google voice set up. I have gone through the set up numerous times and it still will not work. I am selecting do not use Google voice to make calls. I only want it for voice mail. So it prompts me to dial the *28 number, I get 3 beeps and then it hangs up. (I believe that is normal) . So after the set up is finished, when I call my phone it does not forward the calls the my Google voicemail, it simply says the call can not be completed please try again. I have gone online and checked the settings still won't work! I have deletes the account and tried again and still the same error. I know it works, since there are many people around here that use it. I'm sure this is a user error thing. So if anyone has any insight please let me know! I could use all the help I can get!
Thanks!
I know how to fix this!
I've had this problem before and it's incredibly annoying to experience, and almost impossible to find out yourself unless someone tells you.
It's simple really. You NEED a "google voice" number. I know you THINK you have one, but you don't.
Go into your gvoice account, and then voice settings. Right at the top there is a icon that says "get google number". It's free and quick. Once you have a google voice number, you can then get voicemail to work properly.
Hope that helps.
If you already have a Voice number, then did you set up your Evo to use Google Voicemail? I believe the option is in Settings>Call.
Trying to set up Google Voice on my S3 as the voicemail provider. When I click the "configure" button, the screen blacks out and the I get an error message "Unfortunately the process.android.phone has stopped."
Anyone get theirs to work?
Voicemail in Google Voice
I've been having the exact same problem. I haven't found a workaround for the GV app but there are other ways to get your VM to forward to GV. If your VM is already forwarding to GV then it really doesn't matter. You don't need to do anything and can skip that section of the GV setup on your phone. If you're setting up GV to handle your VM for the first time then you're gonna have to set it up manually. I would post a link to the GV forums but XDA won't let me. I just did a search for "samsung galaxy s3 google voice" and the answer is at productforums.google.com
I hope that this helps...

Thanks. For forum reference, the answer is: log into google voice from your computer -- go to settings and then the part where it lists your mobile numbers added to your account. Click deactivate voicemail -- it'll give you a code to punch into your dialer on your phone. Then click activate -- and it will give you a code to punch in to change the call forwarding settings.
My SMS will not receive messages at all. I use in conjunction with google voice, and then I receive them fine, but if I elect to receive via messaging app, I can send SMS's all the time, but nothing will show as received in the SMS app - they will still appear in my google voice though when I check voice online. I am on latest stock version of rom and still nothing works to receive SMS via messaging app. Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to fix it? I tried other SMS apps from the market but they do not receive messages either.
I have tried the short codes to turn Google voice on (*71) but the short code to turn Voice off (*73) doesn't work - just get a prompt stating this short code is not valid. Any help?

*28areacodephonenumber is the Sprint code for conditional call forwarding. *38 is the Sprint code to disconnect conditional call forwarding from Google voice. There is a setting in Google voice to have Google voice texts go to Google voice app or stock texting app. You must sign out of Google voice if you want your phone to go back to normal and/or dial *38 to disengage Google voice for voicemail. If you don't, you won't get your messages and voicemail normally. It's this what you're asking?
I go into Google Voice app and select the option to only receive SMS via the stock messaging app. It saves the option, but then I do not receive any SMS on the stock app - but if I log into my google voice account the messages do arrive there. I've deactivated Google Voice completely, I've uninstalled the app, I've done everything - still can't receive messages on my stock app. I'd read before that there's a short code (*71 and *73) to manually turn on/off Voice, but only the *71 talk works, *73 is disconnected. Need some help!
Those codes don't work for Google voice. The codes you're interested in are *28yourareacodeandphonenumber to activate conditional call forwarding our *38 to deactivate. As far as I know, no other codes, even land line call forwarding codes, work. Have you tried updating your prl and profile? Try sending yourself a text from the stock app to your Sprint number. If you're not receiving it then perhaps you need to call customer service to get the issue straightened out. I suggest the updating first then reboot and see what happens. I set my phone up so that my Sprint number isn't integrated into Google voice. I want to see which number someone is coming in from. I don't know anything about integration, so u couldn't help you there. There might be a setting in the stock app that it's turned off by mistake that is keeping the stock app from working as it should be.
Edit: Maybe customer service needs to reprovision your account. It's basically resetting the account settings to their proper place in case something got fudged up.
Hello all,
I have a Verizon Galaxy S5 on TING on the GSM network. It's rooted with Safe Strap installed.
My one and only problem right now is that I cannot edit the button #1 speed dial from *86 to anything else. It is interfering with my voicemail notifications.
I can add my own number to #2 and speed dial into and access voicemail just fine. I can go into the settings, edit #1 speed dial, change the *86 to whatever, and it says the change has been saved...but it isn't. It remains *86.
Any ideas on how I can edit this sucker? lol I have root, so I could crawl deep into a system file and edit it if need be.
Thanks in advance
I've been trying to figure this out too
i have an unlocked verizon s5 with simple mobile service
if i put in a verizon or tmobile sim card in, im able to edit the voicemail number and it saves, but when i stick my simple mobile sim in the phone it goes back to *86 (which is not simple mobiles vm number), it says it changed and saves but doesnt as the OP described
I tried looking through some files to see if its hard coded somewhere but was unable to find it
any help on this topic would be much appreciated
No one has any ideas or suggestions?
There must be some hack that can be done?
Update
I got my vmail number changed. I'm not sure how but it saved. All I really did was install Google voice then saved that as my voicemail service. I then dialed I think it was *72 for call forwarding then disabled it with *73 I then tried to switch back to my carrier vmail and it just hung on some loading icon. I forced closed opened settings again and my carrier vmail was selected. I tried going back to Google voice and if said failed forwarding. I then tried again. Same error. I then went and tried to change the voicemail number to a contact named voicemail with my number and sure enough it stuck even after a reboot and holding 1 on the dial pad now calls my voicemail instead of *86
I have the same problem. I tried to change it to T-Mobile's 123 to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Interesting. Congrats on getting lucky. I'll have to try this and mess around a bit this weekend if I have time.
I have the same issue.... I read somewhere you have to update to 5.1, it's just bug of the system. Maybe I am wrong, but anyway somewhere in files it should keep this *86 number.....
BUT when I put inactive sim-card from T-Mobile, I COULD change the number and COULD saved it, when switch again to Simple Mobile(my carrier), the problem came back... again *86
You will need to change in the Phone menu settings for Voicemail, not the voicemail contact. Go to the Phone screen, select menu and then Settings, go to Voicemail settings and update the Voicemail number to be *86,XXXXX# where XXXXX represents your VM password and Save.
