[Q] Functionality...what else? - A7 General

Hi
I love the A7 but really am having trouble using it for only a few things, which is disappointing.
I can't video chat, can't access the andriod market and the other apps out there really aren't of any interest to me.
Any thoughts?
Do we know if this will ever be accepted by the android market?? Thanks everyone.

Discussed already
Google denied Market at a lot of tablets which have Android 2.X
So it's not Elocity problem
Videochat works in ooVoo and Fring apps. Skype did not develop videochat for Android yet.
Not Elocity problem again.

I have the market, both factory and Dexter mod has the ability to get the market, my market version is 2.3.6. Thanks to the Elocity family here(Dexter & Bestialbub) we have less issue with 2.2 ..

yup...
but just to make this interesting, i am assuming you are on verizon considering you are in this forum section?
droid 2 if you want a hard keyboard.
the new htc phone coming out with the slideout keyboard looks interesting.
Samsung fascinate has a bright future but i would wait till froyo hits it cause they are having serious lag issues. Plus froyo might allow the user to use google as their search engine. (all assuming you don't root)

tbolt phone video skype from droid-life.. anyone get it working?

Droid-life.com says they have a video skype apk for android. I have tried it on the xoom and the captivate without success. Anyone get it working on any android device?
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/04/11/download-skype-with-video-on-android/
I realize the person writing the post said they couldn't get it to work on the xoom or their phone, but just wondering what the Thunderbolt would have that would allow it to work......
Sorry if this should go in the Apps forum, but since it isn't really a legitimate app from the app market, I listed it in General. Mods, please move if you so desire.

It shows up on my market with an install button, strange.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.move.realtor&feature=search_result
Same here just downloaded and installed with no problems.
Google it and says it works on android 2.1 and higher so as long as your not on 1.5 you should be fine.
apk
Wth?! It won't come up in my market or with the link(not compatible ), could it be my rom? I'm using an aospMod rom 0.9.9.1 froyo . Never had this issue. Anyone mind attaching the file so I can install.
Bump for apk
I'm not sure what the rules are here so if I disappear after sharing this I expect everyone to petition on my behalf
It is free on the market, so I don't see much of an issue.

Android market silent OTA

Hi!
Since gingerbread update on my DHD I never got the 2.3.6 version of Android Market.
I'm still stuck on 2.3.4.
Is it the same for you?
I'm wondering if there is an OTA bug on DHD, and if we'll be able to get the new market (3.0.27)...
I know that I could just install the APK, but previous "silent" OTA used to work before the gingerbread update, so I wonder why it didn't with v2.3.6...
Thanks for your info!
Thats whats happened to all of us. The reason really is- The Gingerbread FOTA update was released before the new market was announced.
According to sources like engadget and pocketnow , most high end phones should expect the upgrade within the next couple of weeks. If that's too long for you (as is for most of us) you can simply take the .apk which can be found on the forums here.
indeed, manually installing the apk works just fine, i did it myself

Yes, but it doesn't explain why we never got the 2.3.6 after, while the other devices were receiving it with silent OTA.
Does anyone know whether the new Market available on xda is the same as the expected final release?
I really like the interface of the new Market but it feels a little slow at times.
Duncan
I'm still in 2.3.4, whereas everyone is reporting getting the new 3.1.3 version...
Why don't we get any of the latest 3 market OTA?!? Did htc broke the ability of our phones to upgrade themselves?
It seems that the Desire Z has the same issue...
Heard it was only release in the US.
It has been release in the UK only last week and it was only to Samsung devices...

Like was already said, not till we have ICS. To add to that though, even if it is possible to make it run on Honeycomb, it would probably run crappy. Chrome for Android relies on the hardware acceleration in ICS for page rendering, without that, page rendering will probably be horribly slow.
