Agree with netstat_EVO. The only way is using BackLightKiller
It turns backlight off to 0.01 value (if value = 0 then tablet will go sleep)
It's not a best method, but something...

Could someone help and let me know how can i keep the Backlight ON continueously when i'm on Battery or External Power, for some reason i can get the PPC to stay on but the backlight "Dimms" after about 2 minutes. Do i need a special program?? (I have SPB Pocket Plus 4 installed but it doesn't help).
Start - Settings - System - Backlight - External power -> Uncheck "turn off backlight if device is not used for"

Thanks, but off-course this is what i tried first, be aware that this keeps the PPC ON but after a few minutes the Backlight is "Dimmed".
If you have more ideas i'd love to hear them.

erm... did you actually try it?
There's 2 menus: Power and Backlight.
If you go to the Power page, yes, light will dim while ppc stays on
But if you change it in the backlight page, the light will not dim at all.

Yes i tried it, but on my Backlight control page the ONLY thing you can do is change the BRIGHTNESS of the Backlight (for both Battery & Extenal Power),
there is no other control possibility there.

There is another tab at the bottom of that page which says 'Battery Power' click this and then you can alter the setting for allowing the backlight to stay on.

Unfortunatly my DoPod-810D WM5 doesn't have such a Tab, so i'm looking for a small program that controls the Backlight Dimmer?
You could edit the registry with the following
Change the keyboard backlight duration
To change the duration of the keyboard backlight, you can set (example is 30 seconds):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\QKeyLedTimeout = 30 (DWORD decimal)
Please note that this may not work on some devices. One such notable exception is the HTC Wizard.

Just go to Settings/Personal/Buttons and set it to what you want... I have mine set to screen rotation (its near-instantaneous when you rotate that way!).

That's easy yes. But mine keeps switching to "today" after restarts and changing panels.
Any clue?

So i have noticed after a while my screen gets a little dim. I use max brightness and have adaptive display & automatic adjust of tone unchecked. No clue why that happens? Anyone else?

Thanks. Hopefully that resolves it.
I've got a dell venue 8 pro and am trying to use its alarm app.
Unfortunately, for some strange reason, when the alarm goes off, the volume of the alarm is very low. I have gone through all the sound settings and volume is maximized for them all. When i play the alarm sound separately, it is loud enough, but whenever the alarm goes off, it is very low.
Anyone have any idea on how to go about fixing it?

Yes. The alarm behavior is same for all alarm apps. A system alarm notification toast is displayed with a system sound looping. The loop lasts for 5 minutes only.

But there's still the 5 minute alarm sound duration problem though.
I've two rooted NSTs ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-touch/general/nookmanager-updated-1-2-2-t3973967 ), one has been working fine. The other, however, seems to have its screensaver malfunctioning: it turns itself on from time to time, regardless of what the timeout value is. I even tried to set timeout value to be -1 as in (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29113425#post29113425 ).
So I guess there must be something wrong in the screensaver program itself. My plan is to copy the correct screensaver program from the working NST to the malfunctioning one. But I cannot find which program manages screensaver. I tried to look in /system/bin, yet screenshot doesn't seem to be the one.
Any ideas on which program to look for?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, there's "Daydream" and then there is sleep.
What happens when you just normally hit the power button when you lay your Nook down to go to bed?
Code:
# pm disable com.nook.partner/.daydream.DayDream
All that stuff is (like too much stuff) shoveled into /system/priv-app/partner.apk
Also /system/framework/android.policy.jar is involved.
I don't have a timeout, I just turn my Nook off.
There are various modifications in GlowHacks45 that you can use to make a regular cycling of sleep images.

Disabling daydream seems to fix the problem. But will daydream come back after rebooting? I will see what happens after rebooting.

Seems so. No problem so far ( for 5 hours now ).
Not sure why DayDream was there at the 1st place. Doesn't seem to have value.
