It's rooted with CM 4.2.8
Includes an 8G microSDHC class-6 card
And recently switched to using RA-dream-v1.5.2 for recovery.
No case/holster.
Does have a screen protector.
It has the tiniest 1/8 inch long hairline scratch on the screen itself. It does not distort any viewing. Otherwise, has no other scratches on it.
What do you think I can sell it for?
I'm planning on getting the Nexus One when released.
My wife doesn't want my G1 - so I may sell it. Am just curious.
they usually go for between 100 and 220(max, usually 200) but i would check craigslist and ebay if i were you...
I was hoping for $100, as it's a year old.
Im glad to hear $200 is possible.
Thanks oshizzle!
160 is cheap for a decent one. If it had a cracked screen I could see 100 being a possibility, but 150 at least if that's the only scratch.
It's insane what the freaking G1 will sell for on ebay.
If you choose to sell it do yourself a favor first, get it unlocked.
Unlocked phones seem to add $75 to the going rate.
If its clean, rooted with a current mod, and unlocked....$140-$175
I fail to understand why a phone that, I can get for $129.99 with tmobile, will sell for $129 on ebay ... broken.
I watched an auction for one that had OBVIOUSLY been run over by a car.
The guy even said, all the plastic parts are cracked or broken. The screen is broken, it does not work, the thing is falling apart. It's junk!
The freaking thing sold for $92.
Personally I think the Chinese are buying them all up and refabing them into operational units or selling them for parts. I mean I can buy every part I need to make a G1 except the mother board and the daughter board off of ebay. (and pay about $129)
Thought about going and extending my contract so I could get a new G1 and then selling my old one one ebay. I figure I'd break even at least.
wow, G1's are being sold for more money than I bought it for. When I purchased my G1 at release w/ a tmobile contract, i paid 125 dollars for my g1, i nabbed it a day early from release . but still, are you telling me that g1's are going for that much out there?

That's what I'm sayin' ... WOWZA!!!
If that's the going rate, I may just buy some functional GeeWons and root them and unlock them and flash them with the latest CM and throw on a $0.99 screen protector and get DOUBLE-DOUBLE!!!
I feel I did a terrible thing when I bought my G1 judging by this thread. I paid almost 700 CAD and ended up signing onto a 2 year contract after the fact because I needed data as well....
There should be an icon for getting pounded in the bum.
Remember everyone,
These are the "current" prices.
3 months ago G1's were going for about $50 broken, and $120 used.
After the phone first released, they were like $450 for an unlocked phone and even more if it was one of the first rooted phones.
To many people are buying the G1 because it is the new Super toy. My friend with an Iphone, another friend with a Nokia 900 and I are constantly playing the, 'Oh yeh my phone does..." game.
The more people who buy them, the more the market floods and the faster prices can drop.
A large handful of these people you have met...we often see them with posts like "HELP! I just bricked my phone!"
Prices will go down when the Nexus One gets released because it will become the new HOT item.
Then we can all buy super cheap replacement parts for our G1's that are also running the Nexus software thanks to people like Cyanogen, Dwang, and all the other great Devs who have been working on these phones.
As far as paying to much...can't help you there. Research is always your best friend.
$125 that seems good
G1's in the US in perfect condition are about $200-$250 on ebay... I got mine a couple months ago for $190, and felt lucky at that price. Perfect condition, only 2 hours of talk time, guy got the phone to test for a magazine, used it for 2 weeks, then sold it. I did plenty of research and spend a month waiting for one in the right condition at the right price to come my way.
Anyone that thinks they only paid "$125" for it are ignoring the fact that was the 2yr contract price, the actual price of the phone new is more like $400.
If all it has is that one little scratch, it will go for up to $200 if unlocked and in an auction. If you do a buy it now posting, $150-$175 will sell quickly and is more than fair.
I push them to $400 AUD ,,, if someone wants their rooted phone they can pay the price
I will buy them for $300 unlocked if I have someone wanting a phone rooted
they are $460 New
If someone Brings me their phone I will root for Free ...

Thanks for your valuable input on this.
If I should post it on ebay (most likely there than Craigslist), do you recommend I mention the technical details?
ie: it is rooted, has installed Cyanogen ROM 4.2.9.1 + RA-dream-v1.5.2 recovery
I know for sure I will definately take some high resolution pics of it to clearly show its fine condition.
Yes, realize what you pay for.
When you say that you are paying someone on ebay or craigslist the same price what you can get one from Tmob for, you are not. You pay that price at Tmob because you are signing a contract. On ebay and craigslist you are just getting the phone. That's why you get these phones for so cheap from any cell carrier. Because you are signing a contract. If you buy the phone without the contract, you will pay $300 plus for the phone.
Some people buy online for different reasons. To root the phone or use on another network.
And lately, people are not going to want to pay that much for a phone they are going to experiment on anyway. You can get a good used mytouch for about $150. When I had my G1, I bought it a year ago from someone for $175. But, if yours is in decent condition, you should still get a good price for it though.
Anybody want to buy an evo? Excellent condition clear esn..cimes with original box and accessories plus some really good earphones.
No thank you.
All spelling errors thanks to xt9 on my Evo!
i just bought my brothers from sprint for 325.. new line.. im assuming a person with an existing line would want it .. for maybe 40-60 bucks less..
Not that I have any problem with this thread, but you'd probably have better luck trying to sell an evo somewhere other than a forum full of evo users.. unless you get lucky and someone was dense enough not to get insurance and broke theirs.
My wife is looking to get an Evo (from Hero), but seriously bro... The phone is $480 (after taxes in NY) when it's NEW in a box. I don't see anyone buying a used Evo for any more than $360 or so.
Gazelle.com is paying $294.00 for it now.
Ian B
he can get the price for it, evos are still sold out and lots want to buy a rooted evo ( not sure the OP's is) if it aint root it lol
I just sold my evo for 440.00 with 7.00 shipping on ebay. I know ebay fees suck, but still a good price. I bought a new in box epic for 554.99 that came with a case, extra battery and screen protector. Overall, I am happy. hope the epic is truly epic because I am going to miss my evo, but need a keyboard.
You can buy this direct from sprint for 449 plus tax (no contract). I just did it the other day to get my wife one. Need to lower the price some if you want to sell it. Also as far as being sold out my store has evo's all the time. The store is Midland, MI if you guys want to check it out.
So I just got the phone and I was wondering if there was a way for me to still get te dock for the lower price?
The store didn't have them in stock; think I could call and convince them to sell one cheap?
Rooted/ROM Captivate
Rooted Atrix
Well I won't say it's not cool in theory but all the reviews have said it's not worth it.
If you take it at a discount then you are forced into the additional $25/month tethering plan. An extra $600 over 2 years. I see no value in it.
It's a bit cheaper to get it full price and see if it can't just be hacked to work without a tethering plan.
At any rate. Good luck either way.

May not be an option, but if you can return it and get the phone at Radio Shack they offer you a $150 Gift card if they don't have one in stock. They also sell it for $479 non-bundle price.
Even if they don't have it in stock they can have it shipped to your house though.
I have a Nexus one (Rooted, CM7 RC4) and I am looking to trade for an Evo 4g.
My job offers a sprint discount and I want to switch over however I can't use my N1 on it. Would hate to give it up but I need to save some money. I will throw in all accessories I have for it which includes desktop and car docks (made specifically for N1).
The phone is in an excellent condition, not a scratch on it. I am looking for a Evo 4G in a similar condition with a clean ESN.
I will only trade locally, pretty much anywhere in MD.
Best Buy is getting ready to do a trade in deal for the Evo. Not sure when it will start, but they are going to give you a $50 credit and a $50 BB Gift card.
Like I said, I don't know when it starts, but I do know it ends on June 2nd, which is probably right before the launch of the Evo One.
Thought you guys might like to know!

You can but if you just want the cash an easy $100 bucks isnt bad! thanks for the info bro!
thanks i will be checking this out
Doubtful I could sell my dinged up Evo on ebay for much more than $100. This will likely be the most lucrative way to upgrade for me, thanks for the heads up!
Question. Could i pair that deal up with my upgrade? I.E. i get my new phone for the new-user price, minus the $100 from best buy? (assuming i get the phone at best buy)
No, you cannot. I tried it today... ;-)
How can they prevent you from combining the discount with a new phone. Trade in your phone, then use the BB gift card to pay for the new one. Or you can just buy a Visa gift card at BB.
Only $100, really? I feel like I could sell mine for closer to $150. I've kept mine in excellent condition and would include lots of extras. (I hate having extra stuff after departing with my phone).
Plus I'm think you HAVE to be eligible for an upgrade for this promo - or pay full price.

I have sold several Evo's none for less than $135 and that one was banged up. Your phone is valuable especially with the new price increase for Metro... $40 or less a month for service on Boost, Virgin, Metro, Cricket, etc... You better craigslist and sell before everyone else starts to and then that will bring the prices down...
In the immortal words of Notorious B.I.G. "Get Money"
Here's some info and link about getting that $50 BB gift card:

If this is the same deal you're mentioning, unfortunately the deadline has past.

EVO 4G Trade in
That Best Buy Mobile promotion started on Sunday.
If you trade in your EVO you will get $50 off any Sprint phone as well as a $50 gift card you can use towards the purchase of your new phone.

You should be able to take the $100 off your upgrade price. For instance you should be able to take $100 off the iPhone price of $199.
So tempting but I refuse to depart with my Evo!!!

I only see this as useful if I can use it to get the EVO 4G LTE. No current phones are worthy to upgrade from the OG, imo.

My evo is dying in a bad way. Definitely going to take advantage of this to upgrade when GNex rolls out.
Happened to be in BB today and was informed of the buy back. Definitely can be stacked with upgrade discount and they don't care what condition it's in either.
I was told the buy back is on until June 1. Depending on the actual release date for Evo LTE, it may be too late to use the buy back credit to get it.
Well if the $50 can be applied to the pre-order then I will just trade it in at the end of May and just use my 2nd phone I won. I have no need for my OG Evo once I get the new one and $100 off would be great.
