Anyone else had issues in which the Verizon 3G is connected and shows good signal (2-3 bars), but the signal bars are grey (instead of blue) and data doesn't work? I have to reboot it to resolve this problem.
I am also having this problem with WiFi in which it shows great signal strength, but the bars are grey instead of blue and no data flows. This one normally resolves itself after about 1-3 minutes.
I've seen people report issues with a WiFi memory leak issue, but nothing about the 3G doing the same.
Guess I am the only one having this issue. But I am tired of it now and it's going back to Verizon.
I have attached images of what it looks like when it loses the data flow, and one right after rebooting showing it working after reboot.

Hey there people.
Hoping I've not missed an existing thread.
I'm having problems with X10 dropping its signal seemingly through its own free will. Had phone since mid april and not had any problems with. But the other week me and the missus noticed occasionally i wasn't receiving texts she had sent me. This happened every now and again for a few days. I then noticed when i picked up phone it'd show signal on 3G as maybe 2 or 3 bars then suddenly drop too nothing, showing the little x indicating no signal. After a few seconds up to a min it'd pick signal back up and work again. I no for a fact its not me been in an area without 3G coverage because it happens at work and until this started happening i got a strong 3G signal there. It doesn't seem too switch too edge either any more. Its set too GSM/WCDMA prefered. I'm on 02.
Anyone else have similar problems or any clues on what the problem it.
Cheers
I've been having issues for the last few days. At work i have low signal, but in the areas where the signal is good, data and voice have been good. But lately, even in good areas, my data just kicks in and out. The phone has 4/5 bars lit up, but it doesn't say 3G or "H" next to it. What does that mean? Data suddenly starts working sometimes even in areas where 2 mins earlier it wasn't. I did a factory reset , but still same issue. Any ideas why my internet has been wonky lately? Thanks
Cross posted to the Development board. That's one way to get banned from the board.
I've had my phone for over a year now, and I love it except one strange quirk. I'm with T-Mobile in the midwest, and whenever my phone says 3G, no data works. Everything is fine when it says 'H'. When I'm browsing the internet, I see the status shifting from H to 3G every 30 seconds or so for a duration of about a couple seconds. When the phone is on 3G, the website stops loading, and no data works (even syncing with mail stops). The second it switches back to H, everything works 100% again. Anyone know what's going on with 3G?
Another example is Youtube buffering. When the phone is on H, I see the buffer bar fill up. When it switches to 3G, the bar stops. When it switches back to H, the bar moves again.
I love the HSPA speed, but having it cut out completely fairly often has become a huge annoyance.
Found another thread that had the same issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069844&highlight=3g+hspa
But the people there weren't noticing any lag at all while on my phone, there is clearly no data transfer occurring when the phone displays 3G. Also, if this is indeed some sort of power save feature, shouldn't there be no flopping if you're actively browsing? I see it switching fairly regularly while browsing/downloading, and data completely stops when the phone switches to 3G.
Found a few other threads suggesting to set hsxpa=0 in the build.prop.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911728
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=963780
However, once I did this, I still get the H/3G flipping which is odd since I thought the hsxpa=0 would disable H? What's going on here?
Played around with the numbers, and setting it to 1 forces 3G mode only. Hope this helps anyone else!
I have an intermittent issue that happens in multiple locations and on both WiFi and 3G. Occasionally, when I have good signal strength (3-4 bars) and have a blue "connected to Google services" status, I cannot connect to the web with any app. The status will sometimes show as connected to Google services for 30+ seconds before the network status goes to grey and shows no data. After that, it can take another 30+ seconds for the network status to reset and then I have network access again.
This isn't always the case, and I sometimes unlock it to find it on the grey "no data" part of the cycle and have to wait for it to reset before I can do anything useful. I am on CM 10.1-M1, and have seen this with stock kernel and franco nightly. My network is T-mobile, though this happens with WiFi too, so I doubt that has anything to do with it.
Are there any radio updates or other fixes that might stop this behavior?
I get this problem too. It stopped since I moved to my new apartment. Dunno what was going on cause I had full h+ signal and out of no where, data would drop. Happened multiple times a day.

[TROUBLESHOOT] T-Mobile Loss of Signal & No data OR data drop (grey bars)
[LG NEXUSâ´] [AOKP B6] [MATR1X]
I need help this is driving me insane!
I've been running Dynamic Kat Rom for about 6 months or so now. Everything was working fine then all of a sudden a week or two ago I noticed my mobile data is not enabling at all.
I can only connect on Wifi and only receive SMS.
I've tried
- Messing will all the data/network settings
- Turning Mobile Data on and off -- no effect
- Toggling Airplane Mode on and off as suggested in some places
- Wiping everything but Data and reflashing latest ROM
- Reseating the SIM card
- several other things I forgot..
I do see the carrier information in the top left (AT&T) and I am getting signal bars.. but not indicator for 4G/LTE/etc
I've been messing with this for a week now and it's driving me insane.. I can't get a connection anywhere unless I'm on Wifi.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not super phone savvy, but willing to try any suggestions anyone may have.
Hmmm.. weird.
So I called AT&T and asked them about it.. figuring it could possibly be a carrier issue.
They told me to try things I had already done 100 times.. turn the phone off and on.. turn wifi off... etc.
I turned Wifi off... (which I had done 50,000 times before) and 4G popped up.
I guess they did something. So.. guess it's resolved.
Problem has returned.. same issue. I will have 4G signal for hours and then all of a sudden it will drop completely and I can't get a data signal no matter what I do.
I see AT&T in the corner and have signal bars, so I AM getting some kind of signal.. but no data connection whatsoever.
It seems completely random and intermittent.. I can have data signal for days with no issues then I will lose it for days.
Restarting the phone 5-20 times sometimes fixes it.. but that's about it. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
Bad signal / carrier issue?
Call them and report a fault in your area?
I have called them multiple times, they will reset the signal.. sometimes it will come back right away, sometimes it wont.
And this happens regardless of where I am. I know for a fact where I am right now has a great signal strength. I get 4-5 bars on average. But this also happens at home as well about 20 miles away, which also has a good signal, or anywhere I go really it can happen. This isn't in the middle of nowhere either, it's smack in the middle of SoCal (LA/OC)
I'm beginning to think it may be a SIM card issue or a hardware issue with the phone. I'm going to try asking them to send me a new SIM card.
Another thing I will notice is when I have a working 4G LTE connection, and I'm on Wifi... it will sometimes CONSTANTLY switch back and forth between wifi and 4G like every 10 seconds, even when I have full signal strength on Wifi and 4G.
Disable Smart Network Switching in WiFi settings
it's nothing but a buggy headache, disabling might fix most of your problems, almost certainly the constant switching back and forth
Yeah forgot to mention I have disabled that. It's disabled now. It solves the constant switching back and forth (when I actually have a data connection), but that's kind of a separate issue as the losing data connection.
