Tube TV lock effect? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi guys, I'am looking for a gingerbread SD rom that has the old Tube TV lock effect like the AmeriCanAndroid cm7 rom without having everything shrunken down like the phone app. or is there a way in include this effect in my current gingerbread rom?
Thanx!

Currently using tytung's NEXUSHD2 Gingerbread v2.3... and it does it. Great build. Highly recommend if your looking for a NAND build.

I believe all the Cyanogen 7.0 ROMs have them. It's an option under CyanogenMod Settings

Alternatively, for Sense and all builds, you can download "screen off and lock" app from the market and select the old tv animation. Only down side is it can't be assigned to power button, I use it as a shortcut on my home screen.

you can set it to lock you by downloading button reamper asuming you have root

HD2 Image Backup

I want to install and play around with the Android ROMs that are available for HD2. I was wondering if there is a way I can make an image of my ROM as it is right now, and later on flash it back if I don't like the Android ROM on my HD2.
Save time and read the 1st and 2nd sticky posts on this page. Everything you need to know is all there. Also, I know rules are a b*tch, also explained there, make sure you follow them and avoid any incoming angry posts about not using the "search" function. To answer your question, Android runs off the memory card so windows is shut down prior to booting android, they're isolated for the most part. Hope that helps.

I know that Android runs off the SD card, but that was not my question. They recommend that a very light version of WM be installed prior to running Android and I can understand why. However, if I install the light version of WM I will loose whatever I currently have. That is why I am wondering if there a way I can create an image backup of my current ROM.
Are you running a stock rom? There's a sticky in the tmousa rom section with links to all the stock roms. It's easier to just grab a copy, you'll just need to back up your data.
Yes... I am runing a stock ROM. Any good backup apps to recomand that can backup my programs, settings and data?

I didn't change my WM ROM, it's shut down by haret. So unless you're having specific problems like that awful robovoice then you shouldn't worry about changing your rom. As for backup, I use SPB or Sprite backup, the latter my preference.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I use SPB...works the best IMO. I've actually had to use it a few times after changing the zimage...it seems to kill my sense every time I load a new zimage.
I get that bad robot voice, what to doo you recommend I switch to? I have a stock Rom right now with the latest radio.

I flashed my HD2 to the radio suggested but I still get that high pitched Robot Voice..Maybe a custom ROM is required?

G1 froyo

Ok guys I just updated my g1 to 2.2 and I have a few problems. 1. My phone crashes every few days and I have to wipe and flash the rom to get it to work again. 2. Every time I go back to my home screen using the home key, everything loads up 1 by 1 (meaning widgets and apps) 3. Sometimes when I open an app it just goes back to the homescreen. Please help me with these problems.

for 2nd point in CM settings -> Perfomance Settings check "Keep launcher in memory"
I had 3rd issue too, don't know why it is happening.
I dont have the option "Keep Launcher in Memory" The only options I have are "use compache", "use jit", "enable surface dithering " (which is already checked) and "vm heap size

Actually the option name is "Lock home in memory".
I don't have that option either. The only options I have for cyanogenmod settings are the ones I listed on my previous post

You may want to wipe and reflash. Your'e missing it then. should be between dithering and vm heap
Maybe you are using old RC or nightly, lock home in memory option was added long after RC1 and 2, if not 3.
Yes I have rc1 but after all the problems I was having I'm thinking of updating it. How would I update it to rc3 nd wud I first have 2 delete rc1 from my sd card and wipe ?

The CM6 final is alreay out. Is there any reason to keep using the RCs?
I didn't know that cm6 final was out already, is it any better than the RCs?

Yes it's more stable and has more features, there is no reason to use old nightlies or rc's AFAIK.

ROM Manager downloads for HD2

Will all us HD2 users ever be able to download .zip ROMs straight from ROM Manager? And possibly even have Cyanogen nightly support for HD2?
I was just wondering as this would make installing new ROMs so much easier, instead of having to connect to my PC etc.
Replies welcome.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
isnt that what CWM does? you download the zip to your phone and flash fromthe phone, no need to hook to a pc
Yes but so far there is no support for HD2
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
Just come on here through mobile and download that way, how easier could it get?
Yes but it would be much more practical, and we wouldn't be able to receive nightlies, and not all Roms are on here! If you look in rom manager in the desire sections there are lots of roms I have never seen mentioned on xda before

I can't download hyperdroid from rom manager it says file is corrupt
Also cyanogen 7.0 does download but. When its done it ask me to clear data and it then reboots
To my old Rom.

Youre right.
I use desire z, and has Rom Manager installed.
If I want to flash new rom, I just open the ROM Manager and let it download and run it. And it will reboot to the new rom (custom Rom, actually)
But, I usually cannot stay long, I always go back to stock rom because I really miss sense UI
Cheers

[Q] Gingerbread kernals for SD builds?

Hi, where can i download gingerbread kernals for any gingerbread build? I am using nexushd2 gingerbread build on sd but the problem is that in this build bluetooth is not working... so i want to change it's kernal... so can any one provide me the links for the same?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Same problem here, would like to have an answer too, the curious thing it's that I'm using Isaiah's cm7 rom that has the same kernel and Bluetooth works ..

I don't know if this method will work for you or make your device unbootable (Use at your own risk)
First, Turn off your phone and then mount your sd card from your phone to a card reader connected to your PC.
Then go the Android folder in your sd card memory and back it up to your computer (to revert back to it if things went wrong)
Finally, replace the files called (zImage, initrd.gz) In the Android folder in your sdcard with same files names and types from any other Gingerbread SD build (my suggestion is that you try first with AmeriCanAndroid AOSP gingerbread build by downloading the whole build and get those files from it and use it on your build that you want to use on your phone).
Place the sdcard back to your phone and turn it on, and hopefully this method will fix your problem...
This method might work in theory but because the build and the kernel are not optimized for each other, Some functions will not work as they were used to be (Bluetooth, Wifi, Network signal, etc...) or Android go into boot loop or even not boot at all! so if you don't know how to do this or don't know how to revert back to your original build/kernel after a failed boot, then please don't risk it!.
Hey yugoport, can you now try the kernel from isaiah build in nexus hd2 and post the results?

_SD.Magldr__isaiah12345_v3.1_160 build is nice, everything is HD/zoomed out, would look nice on a tablet, hd2's screen just about makes it usuable, any smaller screen on the hd2 i would stick to _240 builds, i like fitting more things on one screen, i dislike the scrolling about crap all the time, if anyone loves scrolling and tabs all the time then get a iphone, WP7, blackberry or symbian that everything done is a screen/page change whilst blocking out the status/notifications bar, i prefer old versions of WM aka WM2003se all the way up to 6.5

ROM's with option: Bottom Status Bar + Softkeys?

Hi
So far only Hyperdroid CM7 has the option to move the status bar to the bottom plus add Softkeys (hardware buttons) to the status.
Some ROM's move the status bar to the bottom, but missing the Sofkeys option.
I have tried the following ROM's..
NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V2.7_NAND_(Android-2.3.4)
TyphooN_CM7_v3.2.1-MAGLDR
HyperDroid-GBX-v12-signed
I don't want to go crazy flashing too many ROM's to find this feature.
If you know any ROM's that have both options please add to this thread.

I'd hyperdroid has it why not use it?

then you mustve had a bad flash
ive been using hyperdroid cm7 for 4 or 5 days and have had
no problems at all
What do you mean by a bad flash?

Put "cm7 tablet tweaks" into Google and install them yourself.
Thanks for the tip Sam, I'll figure it out..
After I do "wipe data/factory reset" I would install the ROM without rebooting.. could this cause a bad flash?
I did a fresh install with a reboot before flashing. Hope this makes a difference.

Dorimanx has both and more
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166948
ive been using hyperdroid for a while for same reason.....
the dorimanx rom has both and built in voltage tweaks
(hyperdroid does too but u have to copy the file to the int.rc folder)
other than that it has android 2.3.5and some data
tweaks in the build.prop file that help (me) with faster data
speed and battery consumption because of the
phone trying to find 3g+ signal all the time
hope this helps ......im on 2.7.1 but there is newer versions
i think i like it more than hyperdroid
TMOUS
2-10mA average standby
200-250mb free ram average
245mhz=850 voltage (too low for most but it works for me)

Thank you Jason! Thank you P107!
Thank you so much guys!!!...
I wasn't able to depart from hyperdroid for this reason, installing the buttons myself seemed a bit complicated.
I'm so happy now..
