Searched before, never did found a good tut for partitioning a SD Card with Success.
Like to partition a SD card to ext/swap/fat32 properly.
Also always wonder, can I install apps on to SD card fat32 partition or ext? rather than the Cell build in memory?(myTouch 3G 1.2)
Can some one point me to a good tutorial to do this?
Or a video tutorial?
Cheer!

Use the option in your recovery image. I think AmonRA's should work just fine.
The ROM your using will decide whether you can install apps to FAT or to EXT partitions. Honestly I would use the EXT partition out of the two because if loaded to FAT you'll lose your Alps when you unmount your SD card. Honestly you've got plenty of internel storage so you shouldn't need it.

I currently follow this thead to install custom 2.3.3 CM-Hackdroid.

After i have installed it, the phone cannot detect my sd card. What is the problem there? Can anyone help?
Do you have only a Fat 32 partition or do you have ext2 or ext3 partition?
I have the same problem, I have 2 partition (fat32 + ext2)
how can I solve this problem??
there is no need to use ext, i have only fat partition and it works very vell, format is with the pc to fat, and i think is will work
When you use this rom, you have to only use a Fat32 partition.
format the SD card with other cell phone (this work for me when i have this problem), with 2.3 and 2.2 you don't need have a ext 2 or ext 3, my card is formated on fat16, in fat32 don't work
grettings, sorry for the english jaj
I formatted it with fat and fat32 with ext3...it doesnt work at all...hmm...format the ext part?
had the same issue , a full wipe and deleting the ext3 partition worked.
happy hackdroid 2.3.3 user now , i hope te fix the camera to take some pics as well now cause thats the only thing i can care a lil bit more

Hey guys,
hope someone could help me. I flashed the newest version of BoyPPC-Shift PDA. I partitioned my SD Card (8Gb) to Fat and EXT3. Now I have the problem with the internal memory. I also put the Data2SD folder and the .config to the SD Card before flashing the ROM with CWM.
Unfortunately it doesn't work. Do i have to partition the SD Card to EXT4 and put then the Data2SD folder and the .config to the SD Card? I don't have any experience with EXT4. Before i used Rafroid and everything worked fine with EXT3.
Thanks a lot for your help
i got the same problem exactly and apparently no one knows a solution i iwsh it was like DHD where it works automatically also note that this issue has been always there with all BOYPPC Builds if u go to to the Memory settings it reads the EXT3 size but all the apps are installed on the internal memory so i do not know whether it is a bad script or what exactly
Hello, i´m from germany and my english is not good...
but i try to help..
I use the BoyPPCShiftPDA DHD Rom with 1GB app2sd and my SD Card is completely formatet to FAT32 (8GB).
To use the app2sd feature i extract the files from the attachment and put the folder and the config file to my sdcard.
This works perfectly for me.
Hi i had the SD Partitioned and when i tried backup sd-ext it gives an error: No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
So i wiped my SD Card using Android format, and all Partitions was deleted.
So when i try to Partition SD Card using CWM (Cyanogenmod Recovery) it says that is formatting but only pass 2 seconds and it says is all done, but is not my sd stays the same.
I'm using KitKat 4.4 for Galaxy Y (CyanoCream 4) and Whitexp last Kernel with 16GB Class 10 MicroSD.
Can anybody help me?
use minitool partition wizard for windows . u can download it
use it to deleted any partition on sd card and recreated new partition of FAT32 format . then if u want 2nd partition created new partition too (when u make 1st partition save space for 2nd partition) with ext2/3/4 it u choice . after finish apply it and done
note - backup all u sdcard data/files/etc before u started

Thanks but that i'll not solve the CWM Error: No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
The issue i'm trying to solve is to make CWM Work with SD-Ext, Partition SD and Backup SD-Ext inside CWM.

to start off with you are not using kitkat 4.4 - you are using gingerbread 2.3.6 that is themed to look like kitkat
secondly you are using a banned rom so no support here from xda
thirdly you can only backup sd ext with kernels that support backing up of sd ext - whites kernel does so unless you formatted your sd card in an unsupported way - best to create the 2nd partition in cwm
is that a banned rom i not know it . maybe it me never searching for rom .

no it wont - as you havent created a 2nd ext sd card partition if you have just formatted as fat32 without creating the 2nd sd card partition in cwm
Mod Edit
As has been mentioned , Cyanocream ROM is banned on XDA.
Therefore , there can be no discussion on the subject.

Hello
I have rooted J5 (2015) with stock marshmallow 6.0.1 (rom installed manually via odin) and i want to use link2sd app. I make 2 partitions FAT32 and ext2 both are primary and FAT32 is a first partition. But link 2 sd dont see second partition. When i make script via link2sd i get message No such file or directory. I try format card and use ext 2 ext3 ext4 formats always that same error. I think that maybye sd card is broken (i have old 2gb card) it can be it?
You need to separate partitions on your SD card, you can do this either by PC (if you have microsd slot) or using an app, i don't remember the name. Those are the ways to make sd card second partition for cache and etc.
But doing that you will just slow your phone down
What do you mean separate? I have two partitions fat32 and ext2
I buy new sd card and wipe my phone, still get error no such file or directory. Can anybody help?
ok i sovle my problem by using other app. Apps2SD create aplications link with sd card
