How much internal memory does the Elocity A7 have?
I was told that the internal memory was 4 GB. Is that correct?
Mine reads:
Total space = 1.84 GB
Available = 1.77 GB
Why would it state "1.84 GB" if it is supposed to have 4 GB?
Please advise and thank you.
Alice
Your grandson is very inquisitive)))))
Our tablet has 4GB eMMC memory chip
Exact value: 1933312 sectors * 2048 bytes / 1024 / 1024 = 3776 MB = ~4GB
This memory has following allocation:
- data (~1235 MB)
- storage (~1616 MB)
- system (~500 MB)
- cache (~400 MB)
- other partitions like recovery, boot and etc... (they are small)
There are wrong values in settings /sd card & device storage settings / section "Internal device storage"
Actual values you should get with terminal emulator and command "df"
Values in section "SD Card" are right. It is external sd card what you inserted in device. And it doesn't apply to internal memory.
Thank you.
The 1.84GB Total Space and 1.77GB Available was for the 2GB SD card.
The Internal Memory shows:
Internal Space 1.53GB
Available 1.52GB, which is not so much since there are no games, (added stuff) on the A7.
Does that 1.52GB sound right?
That is why we wanted to delete the Aldiiko and Appke, which we couldn't delete (see separate post).

It's incorrect. Idk what does it mean. Maybe data + cache.
You can not install apps more than 1.2 GB. But it's enough too
Some games have own "cache' (sprites, music, videos) - but this "cache" would installed to /sdcard partition.
Apps... you should install 300+ apps to fill internal memory. But avoid from it: more apps = more apps in RAM memory. Yes, they are not working at this moment, but they are in memory instead of others and siitting in autostart

You can use the terminal emulator under dev tools to get a dump.
Bring up Terminal, & then press & hold the 'Menu' button to bring up the keybd.
Type in df and Enter/Return.
This should show you something close to what's shown below.
Press the 'Menu' again and select 'Email to' & send it to yourself.
You can then pasted it into here for explanation.

We are, by no means, computer experts and we know very little about the A7.
We just wanted to know what internal memory the A7 was listed as when first purchased and how much Free memory there is now on our A7.
As I said, when I go into Storage I see:
Internal Space 1.53GB
Available 1.52GB
#1- And wanted to make sure that the 1.52GB sounded right?
#2- How we could delete/uninstall e the Aldiiko and Appke, because neither one of us would ever use them and they are just taking up space.
Isn't there any way to remove e the Aldiiko and Appke?
Sorry for all the questions but we just are a bit confused with the memory and wanted to get some advice.
Thank you middle_road, but your procedure seems a bit frightening for us to attempt and possibly 'screw-up' something on this A7.

Where is "systemApp remover?"
Is it a program I have to download and pay for?
Can I get it from Getjar Apps (which was already pre-loaded on this A7.
I have Titanium Backup, but tried the Uninstall and it did not work for either of the two- Aldiko or Appoke (and that is why I thought they were not able to be removed).

From the normal market. Its either free or one dollar, I forget.
I'd stay away from knock off markets like getjar and appoke, I've heard bad things about the content being altered versions of actual apps, never know what your really getting.

#2- I searched Google for 'systemapp remover,' but see quite a few sites offering the download, but I don't know which one to download from? Is there a correct/safe download site?

#4- How would it be installed?
Sorry for all the questions.

There is nice app named Super Manager. It's free. You can remove internal apps by dint of the file manager.

alicez,
Did you delete the two movie trailers off of the 'sdcard' partition/sub-directory?
they're named
Expendables_Trailer_v2_H264-AAC.mov
Drive_Angry_Trailer_v2_H264-AAC.mov
That'll free up ~360MB...

I have the "Titanium Backup." Isn't that more-or-less the same thing? I removed a few other apps with this Titanium Backup but just cannot seem to delete the Aldiko or Appoke. Maybe it has to be done a few time and so I will just keep trying with the Titanium Backup.
I removed Aldido and Appke with Titanium Backup and there don't appear after opening/closing the A7, but after awhile, they are back again. I don't know how they appear to be deleted (using Titanium Backup) and then after few power off/power on, they are back again. What is going on? Does anyone know?
I just don't want to keep installing other "app removal" apps, if they are just going to use up more of the free space.

That's where I thought they were. Maybe someone with a stock install can jump in here
And verify or correct the actual location.
Next time I flash I'm going to do a listing for future reference.
You should have a couple of icons in the upper left,

internal /sdcard question
I have an Android phone, and of course /sdcard is the micro sd card. It took me a while to figure out that tablets are a little different. In the Elocity A7, I find the micro sdcard almost useless. So if somebody could help me out ...
I want the media files and databases and books, etc to go to the micro sdcard. However, since /sdcard points to internal storage they all go there by default, and most programs look for them there without any option to specify otherwise.
I tried creating a symbolic link in the /sdcard directory to a folder in the /sdcard/sdcard-disk directory, but that won't work. The internal /sdcard partition is formatted FAT32. Ka-razy.
So, is there a way to format the internal /sdcard partition as ext3, so I can create some symbolic links, so I can direct large files to be stored on my nice big [empty] micro sdcard?
Thanks for any help. If this needs to go in another thread, please, let me know. Or if it's covered elsewhere, just give me a link. I've been searching for a couple of days.
Thanks.

Due to the fact that I can't directly reply to the thread that was created because I don't have enough posts, I'm posting here looking for an answer.
I followed the advice in this post. The only difference is that I used Super Manager instead of Root Explorer to delete the files from /system/app/.
Here is the odd part, after finishing I rebooted and when I powered back up and checked my available memory, it didn't change at all. Naturally I went back in with Super Manager and checked for the files and they are not there. I also looked with Astro File Manager and the files were not in /system/app/. I don't understand that if I deleted the files, why didn't my available memory increase? That is the whole reason I removed.
Thanks,
Why do you need more space in system folder?...
Go in data folder and check dalvick and data folders for leftovers.

Removing the so-called "bloatware" won't free up app storage space.
The tablet uses different partitions to store different things. System applications are stored on a different partition than user-installed apps. They each have their own space, indepentantly of each other.
When I started this exercise in removing the "bloatware" from my S7, I had a little over 85 MB free from the 175 MB available. After removing the "bloatware" I didn't see a change. Over the weekend, I removed the battery from my S7 to check the version number. After starting the S7 again, I check the memory and I now have 101 MB free. The only change was to remove the "bloatware". After installing two more apps on the tablet and moving the .apk file to my Link2SD partition on the internal SD card, I now have 98.97 MB of available space.
For the other post about removing the cache, I just ran cachemate and now I have 105 MB of available space.
Removing the "bloatware" does have an effect on the available memory.
While I did restart my S7 after removing the "bloatware", I didn't remove the battery. I don't know what I had the difference, but by completely removing the battery I saw that I had more space available after removing the "bloatware".
Couldn't have been. All of the apps you deleted reside in /system/app. That's on a completely separate partition from /data.
/data is where apps you install from Market go. It's also the space listed under "Internal Tablet Storage".
/system is where the system core files (and any pre-bundled apps) reside. There is no way to see the space free/used without going into a root terminal and running "df -h"
There is no way deleting system applications freed any sort of space on your /data partition.
It would be like if you had two hard drives in your computer, labled C:\ and D:\. Why would deleting files from C:\ free space on D:\? It's the same concept.
Ok. I understand what you are saying. However, I'm just reporting what I see when I look under:
Internal Tablet Storage
Total Space = 175 MB
Available Space = 100 MB
After removing the .apk "bloatware" files from /system/apps the available space increased.

he's just being hostile and doesn't understand...
the bloatware resides in /system... now some of those files are Maps.apk which is an outdated version, and when you update it to the newest version from the market it installs to /data...
now...
it says it is updated, but we still have the outdated version which is still in /system taking up INTERNAL space. removing that apk from within /system and rebooting will add that much more space to your internal and the maps will still be installed because they are updated and installed to /data.
if you want to be so high and mighty, think before you talk.
also... data is installed internally, hence why we have the a2sd or links2sd method.

I think you need to think before you talk.
Space on /system is not (normally) accessible to the user to use for storage of any kind. It's reserved solely for the OS' system files to be stored.
I think this is where you all are getting confused. Yes, the entire storage (including the internal storage) is all on the same flash ROM chip. But, it's not all contiguous space. It's broken up into partitions, and changes you make to a single partition does not affect any of the other partitions.
I'm not TRYING to be hostile, and I understand more than you think I do. I understand the underlying Android OS' mounts, whereas it seems you do not.
If you had said "removing these apps keeps them from running and using up CPU cycles and ram" I wouldn't have an issue with it. But, saying they free up space for the user to install apps to is just plain wrong.
I am using a lot of room on my main storage and only have 50MB of storage left on the ROM.
I've used what is mentioned in the title, but I still have about 120 apps that I'd like on the SD. I actually counted and have 140 in total, lol.
How would I go about achieving this?
(Help out a guy who is addicted to apps/games ^>^)

back up your app and partition your SD card to ext2/3/4 to use app2sd+
Use a modded CWM Flash.cfg , but be careful, setting it too low won't allow your rom to install, also what the guy above me said.
I always used "Spare Parts" (not the one in the Marketplace) which allows you to manually choose which folder new apps will be installed to.
Unfortunately, this only works for newly installed apps, so you'll have to delete the ones you have and reinstall.
I don't use Spare Parts anymore, since I am using dandiest's new init that puts the data directory on the SD card. I made a 2GB ext4 partition on my SD card and Android boots from there, through NAND

Make a partition of SD card and link apps to SD
Just Google how to link to SD
U will get hundreds of results
Prefer xda ones

jonny789 I would love to know how you managed that if you are properly using Link2SD - just how many apps have you got installed?!
If you partition the SD using CWM recovery and choose 1024mb and 0mb at the two options (after backing up all data to the pc of course!) then reboot the phone when you open Link2SD it should ask you to confirm the type (EXT2/3/4 or FAT etc) - I pick EXT3 or 4 cos sometimes one won't work and I get an error so just use the other.
You will now have a second (hidden) partition and if you set your default save location to "External" all the apps you install will go to the main partition on the SD card. From there you can move them to internal storage (widgets, system apps like keyboards etc) or (preferably) link files to SD which will move a good chunk of the data to that hidden partition.
I have never come even close to using that 1gb of extra app storage and my internal memory is currently 61% free (73.04mb used, 117mb free). Of course lots of games and apps work just fine from the external storage anyway so you can just leave them there instead of linking them - really it is up to you.
The other way to use link2SD to free up internal memory is the system apps - you can uninstall a fair few of these to free up system memory which you can then use by converting non-system apps to system ones - this moves them from the "internal memory" to the "system memory" and hey presto you have more internal available. NOTE: Uninstalling system apps can bugger up your phone - search and read about it before you do this!
If you have already tried all of this then I apologise and humbly ask you to post a list of your installed apps so that we may all wonder at just how you managed to use all that internal memory lol
Cheers
Stokey
disclaimer: not responsible for any data loss or whatever issues you might do to yourself and no, this will not increase the total size of your sdcard space (which on the 32gb model LG G2 is 25gb)
I've just had an issue where my storage space just wouldnt add up and it bothered me
situation:
"SD card" size: 25GB
actual data on sdcard "16GB" (check with x-plore or any prefered file manager
free space: in my example it was just 2.8Gb
i checked my /data size and it was about 3gb.
so i was missing about 3-4GB of space.
solution for my situation:
check /data/media/obb
here i had large files from 1 current game and games i've allready uninstalled.
these files were obsolete in my case. I dont know how this happens, maybe it happens when switching roms. but if you feel you got some space missing its definetly worth a check.
On my nexus7 the /data/media/obb and /sdcard/Android/obb are linked and show the same content.. dont know why it is not so on the g2.
note: this files presist also when doing full wipes (if you dont wipe internal storage) because recoveries like TWRP skip /data/media folder because it has references to the sdcard.

no you wont get any more than 25gb, because the rest is mounted on /system which doesnt change size when you install diferent rom.
in my example i had 1.5Gb file from fifa14 in /data/media/obb and also in /sdcard/android/obb i deleted the one in /data/media/obb and fifa still runs fine. the other files 2GB in size, were from games i've uninstalled or didnt install on the new rom. maybe its left overs from swiitching roms... anyway.. i got my space back.

Follow the RABBIT
So ES File explorer says my internal storage is 22.8 GB / 23.3 GB (98% full) I have disabled the recycle bin, and estrongs folder is only 12 MB. I try going through all the folders and checking their size, and I can't add up to more than a few hundred MB.
I plug my phone in to my computer to see if it will be faster for me to look around, and sure enough, Windows says there are 517 MB free out of 23.2 GB. I look around, and once again, I can't find any large folders.
Going to Applications > Settings > System > Storage on the phone shows 31.5 GB used out of 32.0 GB.
Samsungs "My Files" app also shows the same as above.
Both My Files and ES File Explorer show 98-99% of the internal storage is taken up by "other" files. What could this be? How do I get rid of it?
+1 Interested as well. My others is 500mb but I'd like to be proactive, since I can't find the "other" files.
Thanks in advance.
I was having the same issue a while back. I suddenly got a notification that my device storage was almost full. What confused me was that I barely download much and most of what I save is on my SD card. Tried deleting apps and stuff but the storage seems to fill up on its own somehow.
Though I eventually found it to be cache saved on the phone. I used CCleaner from the PlayStore and I cleared up around 17 GB of cache... which is a lot. Try using a cache/file cleaning app like CCleaner or similar and see if it works for you as well. I haven't noticed any changes on my phone either so I still wonder what stacked up so much cache!

Doing a factory reset is not only rediculous but counter intuative - I shdould be able see WTF this data is and bloody well nuke it.
