Hi,
Is the nexus one rooted? or just unlocked?
Thanks,
Rames.P.
Hopefully its already rooted, but probably just unlocked.
Its already been rooted, and a custom rom is already out.
It was hacked by Paul from Modaco.
Yes, ordered one!.. cannot wait!..
Andfreek!..
Any Sense UI roms availiable yet?
Come on man... still we have not started breathing with Nexus...
hey guys ive been out of the loop for a while now, just been running on a rooted droid 2 and i heard something about a gingerbread update but didnt research it so i unrooted to see if i got an ota update but of course nope its not out......my question is, does anyone have an idea if we will get the update or should i just root again and install one of the new gingerbread roms??
thanks!
please post only one thread!
According to this article, Verizon confirmed that the Droid 2 will be getting the 2.3 upgrade, possibly in Q3.
Ok a little help here guys, My DX is currently running ApeX1.4.0 Froyo and earlier today the Gingerbread update got pushed to my phone, now with my knowledge about rooted phones tells me that rooted phones DONT get official updates OTA and Im kinda freaked out that it will ruin my root or brick my phone at this point its downloaded to my phone and keeps asking me to install it, help me out here people!
If you want to stay rooted than do not install the ota! There hasn't been any method found to root the official version yet

What? No.
Op, it will just try to install, and then fail. Then you're all set. Nothing bad will happen
Thanks Jmoney47,hanone I was getting worried for a second there
Even if you did get it, you can still get back to froyo, but you don't have to worry
So, i recently purchased and rooted my atrix. im running greyblur 2.1, on version 1.57. here is the thing though, i keep getting prompts to install version 1.83....but this shouldnt be happening because i have root access and have installed a custom rom right? im not an android noob, ive owned and modded 6 devices, and i KNOW that once you root a phone, you SHOULD NOT be getting OTA's. does this have anything to do with the bootloader still being signed? because this prompt is hella annoying. thanks for answering guys!
It does happen just try to install the update since you are running a custom rom it will fail and no longer prompt you to update

I use AntTek App Manager to Freeze the Updater system app (com.motorola.blur.updater)
FYI... you aren't running a custom rom... you are running a custom Framework with several tweaked settings along with no bloatware. AKA Psuedo ROM (P-ROM).
Greyblur does work with 1.83 and you get the radio update as well. Bit of a hassle depending on how you jailbroke it to retain it, but the 1.83 sbf that's available doesn't wipe user data. You might want to just install it.

hm. odd. i did see a thread about what p-roms were, i just never bothered to read it lol. like i said, im pretty experienced when it comes to rooting android phones, this is the first "rom" ive ran that isnt actually a rom lol. and yeah i just let it try to install and it failed so now i dont get any more notifications! so problem solved

No, you're wrong. I ran a rooted/sideloaded 1.26 version and i got the update notifications all the time. Just because its rooted, it doesnt mean anything. You are still tethered to motorola updates unless you have disabled it.
Now im on GingerBlur 4.5 on 1.83. No popups (obviously)
I'm running ken's 4.5 beta on 2.3.4 but im having a few issues so i'm considering heading to stock but i just want to know if its safe. I have an unlocked bootloader and kens 2.3.4, question #1 if i fruitcake back to 1.8.3 will i get the ota update. Question #2 will i still be able to unlock the bootloader after i update? Any help on these 2 questions will be appreciated
I got the OTA notification this morning and thought nothing else of it, downloaded it and installed it. It starting installing the file, it got to like 60% on the bar(with the android guy jumping out of the box) then it stopped. Now it shows an android guy and an explanation point... My phone was rooted, otherwise stock from AT&T any suggestions?
it's because you are rooted, unroot and it should install fine

K I haven't done anything to it yet. Should I pull the battery?
Sorry I just rooted it like 3 days ago so I'm still learning.
yea if you want to be completely safe flash black to a clean version of 1.83 and install the ota. After you install the ota do not use rsd to downgrade ever again or your phone will be bricked permanently. ONLY FLASH BACK IF YOU HAVE NOT UNLOCKED YOUR BOOTLOADER. If you unlocked your bootloader do not use any rsd or sbf file, You can use ken's 4.5 beta which is the same exact update that has been leaked for weeks
