I hope devs will figure out something.
Thumbs up

I would love it too. i believe trip's said he was working on it as a "personal project" along time ago. who knows.

[Q] Question about android 2.3 for desire hd

android 2.3 sdks have already been ported to quite a few number of devices. I understand they aren't fully functional yet but still they have it. Was just wondering if anybody here thinks that it's time that we started porting them to DHD as well.
Thanks

No, SDK ports tend not to run very well, wait until the source code drops and the dev's get there teeth into it. TBH there doesn't appear to be that much revolutionary stuff in 2.3 that we can't wait for
wait until HTC give us a release date. if they say its gonna be ages then someone will port it, but otherwise i think i'l wait for the official version.

Android Tutorial: How to Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on HTC Desire HD, HTC EVO 4G, HTC Wildfire, and Droid Eris
anything for Desire Z in the works?
i'm very interested in this
guys, I have said this many times but cyan won't release 2.3 until the hardware is flawless. But he said we can build it ourselves!!!
Just use cyan vision vendor files to build STOCK aosp gingerbread. I can't coz I don't have a desire z.
Cyanogen is an open source guy, we have access to what he has access to.
Look we know we all really want 2.3, none more than me
Team Villain and CM are both working on builds and probably others but at the moment there is simply too many bugs and things just not working for a release to be out.
Team Villain have always had the policy to only release things that work, and CM is the same, no respecting dev wants to release a buggy build, even if everyone knows it will be buggy.
We will just have to wait.

well I am a lawyer so I would hope it does fit
The reason I posted this is not to get "we all want" and "we need to wait" responses.
I posted because this seem to work to some extent on HD so someone skilled could port to Z. Then some brave users could try and we would know what works what doesn't. And when Cyanogen works on it we could already have fixes to be given to him for it to work on Z. Saving time, getting it done quicker. Contribute, not wait.

When? When it's done. We'll just have to wait, or contribute ourselves!

Thats nice that you have these thoughts, but to be honest... we don't need to "port" it to the Z since all the files to build it are readily available. And bombarding cyan with our "fixes" will only make it harder for them as they are 3 steps ahead of us already. They have GB on their test devices and are working on fixing the issues. Just follow them on twitter and see their progress. And if you want GB as soon as possible, check the teamdouche buildbot for the Z
Ok then, I will keep killing time with daily BF BC2 sessions ;-)

[16.NOV][CLK/MAGLDR] maryno-ICS 4.0 with Sense 3.0 v1.0 RELEASE! [Tytung R14.0]

ICS BUILD WITH SENSE 3.0
I have made a ICS build with SENSE 3.0.
I am still very busy working on it and im expecting a release tomorrow

ICS with Sense 3.0 ? I need more explanation to be convinced...especially from a 12 posts profile.
Keep on Treckin!
WTF ? ICS with Sense 3.0 ?
If it's true, it will be really laggy, i think.
Hmmmm... Let's all wait to be amazed!
I smell ................
Yeah right!.......
If anyone were that far on with don't you think it would be one of our 'well known' devs??.
Let's stick to the facts. This thread/announcement stinks badly.
First, i could almost swear that Tytung was AOSP kernel, and not a Sense kernel.
Second, ICS, with Sense 3.0... so soon? So fast? No incompat problems ? No framework issues?
I don't like posts like this, to doubt before evidence, but this smells baddly of vaporware.
Unless its cotulla in a mask I don't believe it. Seeing as nobody has a perfected gingerbread sense, it doubt there is a an ICS sense.
Lock please...
As much as I agree with the above posts, the XDA environment allows anyone to make a thread as long as it is relevant.
Before calling a 'lock' or anything on this thread, the guy has the opportunity to come forth with something relevant. Give him a chance (until tomorrow, as he says) to release or at least give feedback on the criticism.
MrP.
You're right. We should not start spreading FUD... but recently... i've seen so many threads promising world (not just in HD2) and after 30/40 pages of posts... nothing.
Still.... lets us wait... and bleed.
This could be another great developer making a dramatic entrance, or a very bad joke. Tomorrow can not come soon enough.
BTW, tytung does have two R14 kernel for sense rom. Check it out here and here.
Have alook to his 11 previous posts... and cry...
Bad joke methink.

Share the news CM10 is out!!!

Hi all,
Wanted to share this exciting news and hope that our devs will start working on this.

Jelly Bean source is expected to be released by the end of the month.
Anyone hungry for more desert?

yes! cant wait!
And the code is out. Cranck up your machines and let the fun begin....
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/android-4-1-jelly-bean-source-code-released-to-aosp/
I read elsewhere the differences between JB and ICS weren't really large, so it should be "easy" (as easy as something as complex can be ) to port ICS working devices to JB.
I would love that, the longer my phone last, the happyer i am.
Looks like CM already started working on JB
http://androidcommunity.com/cyanogenmod-updates-their-status-on-cm10-jelly-bean-20120710/
which is a good new, I hope, one of our devs will take an interest on porting one to MS2, although it's a little premature for that.

Yeah it's a bit "premature", but we will probably get it in time.
If i'm not mistaken, we had ICS on our phones before the official version was available for MS4.... it speaks a lot of the "proficiency" and understanding of products of Motorola devs...

I'm always "reassured" by people BUILDING/CREATING AND SELLING PRODUCTS when they explain to you they can "try" to do something that is super easy, and haven't made the slightest progress in 1 year and a half on it.
It makes you want to believe they are able to do more complex things on their products without botching it... not.

Or not.
It's not like we don't have our hands full finding new bugs on the CM9 port already... (yeah i know, there is not much, and most of them are known already ).
And there is still quite some functionality of CM9 to be merged too, like themes support and so on.
But yeah, it's a good thing people already started working on JB/CM/10 port (makes you wonder what the overpaid devs working for constructors/operators are doing in their days, since having access to far more than us, and not having to work with the locked bootloader restrictions, they still haven't ported most of their december 2011 devices to ICS... ).
Hell at that rythm, MS2 will have JB before the official ICS hits the MS4...

Gotta love your optimism, buddy
But I think, Alex is doing an amazing job of taking ownership of CM9 and tiding things up. I read on his tweet that he has resloved the flash conflict issue, so we may be getting an update this weekend. (hopefully)
Regarding HW keypad, read your post on CM9 thread, I'll have a look into that when I'll be home and have all my tools. I use qwerty, so I fixed the file for my own convenience to be able to have caps lock on double press of shift button.
But, you're most certainly right, it's not like we will have JB working from day one and it's gonna take a lot of effort by our devs to make MS2 stand tall in front of the big boys lol afterall this is probably the best hw keypad device in the market.
And for now we just can watch closely how thing are developing for Defy

Being optimistic is nice sometimes, and it's quite easy when people like Alex works so fast AND pretty much everything unlock around the same time (in a short time we had the camera, the 720p decoding (and encoding i think) and hwa unlocked for our phones ), but yeah, i know it'll take time, but i'm not in a hurry anyway, my phone is more than usable on a daily basis for what i do, everything else is "added benefits".
For the keyboard, if you can find how to change that, and explain to me how to do it, i would be glad.
do you think there will be ever some release for ms2?

The code is very similar to ICS so the cyanogen team think any phone that can run CM9 will probably be able to run CM10, which is promising

Quarx on Defy front is on fire!!! He managed to make audio work with some help from other devs and also video recording.
I am saying by Friday he will have complete pre-alpha version of CM10 for Defy.
Hard to explain but I am kinda excited, although I get an impression that Defy sees more love from devs than our MS2 and can't find a reason why

That's good news.
Quite some reasons actually for the far more active Defy :
- there is far less versions of it (he don't have like 3/4 versions just for the countries outside the US ), and from what i've read, the Defy is roughly the same everywhere, unlike the Droid2/Droid 2 Global/MS2
- there wasn't the "oops, you can't downgrade anymore" update on it i think
- it's a more "mainstream" phone than the Droid lines (strangely, the phones with hardware keyboards are "niche" phones, wonder why when they are similar in price, size and perfs to non hw ones )
But hey, good thing the MS lines of phones share so much hardware and similarities with other more active phones like Defy/Atrix, makes it easier for us having something working.

Looks like the Nexus 6 might get an Ubuntu touch port

I have been looking forward to this for so long. anyone else exited to have touch on the N6?
it is currently at 0%
https://devices.ubports.com/#/
I am excited to see it. They def got all the donations they need for nexus 6 at 310.00 since you can get a nexus 6 for 200 but have to wait for a dev to handle it. Hope its soon but I have a One plus and it looks like that ones almost done Thanks for the link tho
http://www.androidjoint.com/2016/02/27/nexus-devices-bought-by-ubuntu-are-now-slotted
According to this source they already own a Nexus 6.
It's been like that for awhile (month+). I'm the person who made the reddit post linked in the article and also was in contact with the donator who made the large donation needed to get the Nexus 6 into 'waiting' status.
Hopefully the UBPorts team is working on it. I had the Oneplus One back when mariogrip first got the Oneplus devices started off for Ubuntu ports. Kind of sad to switch to the Nexus 6 only to find it may not have a port because it didn't launch with Kitkat :l
Please for the love of god let this happen.
Definitely excited about this. Fingers crossed

I, um, was actually working on this at one point a few months back. I kind of got frustrated with the then state of Halium/UBPorts and took a rage-break but I might give it another shot now that things are a little more stabilized. I did get shamu running SFOS (mostly, I kept running into audio and modem issues), Plasma Mobile, and a couple generic rootfs' for Halium.
Is It worth porting though? As far as I am aware, the project was completely abandoned.

To the contrary, Ubuntu Touch/ubports are very much alive and well.
https://ubports.com/
They're currently working on getting the system updated to an Ubuntu 16.04 LTS base (as this was already half-done by canonical and will lessen a lot of future work for 18.04/beyond) as well as a new base for porting, derived from the Sailfish HADK and libhybris, called Halium to lessen the workload of porting non-Android OSes.
As far as the Shamu port - I guess Marius just lost interest. I already have some hybris ready device trees for shamu from when I was working on it late last year.
I plan to put some work in on it this week and see if I can't get ubports booting.
Not like I use my Nexus 6 for anything else right now. ^^;
probably never going to happen. i was so excited to try this. there was a dev preview on the galaxy s3 i booted up with no functionality. it looked so cool.

It'll happen if I can get the time to work with the porters to get it going.
Like I said, I already got shamu to boot SailfishOS and Plasma Mobile - both hybris based. UBports is just a matter of getting Unity8 to play nice.
