I saw that. Was hoping we had a work around or something. Oh well. Thanks.
I don't have my Xoom yet but some people over on reddit were saying this program might do the trick for syncing facebook contact photos
com.nloko.android.syncmypix
sorry can't post outside links yet.
That worked. Awesome thanks.

Confusing, I know

friendcaster
If a facebook account cannot be created, try using Friendcaster available for the Xoom on the Android Market. After installing the app, a friendcaster account can be added in the android contacts app (as you would a google account). All facebook contacts will sync.

There is currently not a Facebook app in the market. They haven't optimized it for Honeycomb yet, but you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143913&highlight=kanged and that should work. The only issue I have with it, is that the friends list part force closes.
They must have recently taken it down, thanx for the link tho

Use Friend Me
I use Friendcaster. Lots more options and when you say No Notifications..... it stops polling and giving you notifications. I notices a lift in battery when I uninstalled it. Friendcaster just seems nicer and smoother to me.

Now it will no longer install. It will download, but will never proceed to install.

I've had that happen with the market a few times too. I normally just back out and go back in until it finally works.

There is actually a Honeycomb/Tablet edition, though in beta...
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handmark.friendstream&feature=search_result
Works well for me, and definately less crashes than the native Facebook for Android app...
I've actually gone so far as to uninstall the official Facebook on my Vibrant running CM 7. With the last update on July 18th, for some reason, even if you set it to never poll for notifications, never refresh, and not to sync, it still keeps the news feed open in the background and constantly refreshes it. I noticed huge battery drain one day when I took my phone off of the charger, barely used it all day, and later that night around 11 I had 14 percent battery warning. When I looked into the battery history, Facebook took up a whopping 81 percent of the battery drain on that particular charge.
Will stick to using the 3rd party options.

There are a lot of apps that you won't find in the market because they haven't been optimized for Honeycomb. I normally just install them on my phone, pull the apk, then transfer it to my tab. So far every app I tried worked just fine including fb and google voice.
Friendcaster for Tab seems great to me, but it loads continuously when I select the messages tab, not showing anything... if that'll be solved, and chat will be added, it will be the perfect FB app for me!
PS: anyone solved the messages issue?

Mine does that with messages too, and yes, chat is a must. At least chat works on the Facebook app though. That's about the only good thing about it. While we're on the subject of honeycomb apps and notifications not working; how hard is it for Words With Friends to get notifications to work?! Is it really that difficult? I play a word and THEN it tells me it's my turn.
This Facebook app works just fine in Honeycomb.

My Messages tab does that too, as does the Events tab. Very annoying. I really hope a new beta's released soon. I sent the dev a PM about it but haven't heard anything back yet.
Strangely enough, I've seen a walkthrough video of the app (on Android Central I think) which showed them using the Messages and Events tab both working fine.
EDIT: New beta just released fixes the Messages issue, but I still have problems with Events.
I have been able to get every google app to sync with the KF except the calendar. Has anyone had any luck? I have it working on my NT:S
I guess i should clarify...I am rooted

I had my gootle calendar sync'd along with my exchange yesterday. Only problem, I have no idea how I did it. Also, it really messed up my Gmail though. I was getting really old gmails showing up as new messages.
I ended up wiping and starting over. Now my gmail is working fine, but I cant see my google calendar!
It looks like there is hope, it's just going to take someone much smarter than me to figure it out.
I actually found a great guide on getting this up and running. Syncing with business calendar perfectly now.

You installed the calendar after you moved the files, not before? You need to install after moving it. Let me know one way or another if you have been able to fix it.

Finally fixed it!
First I updated the "GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk" from sl0ttedpig (30th November 2011, 07:35 AM):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369781&highlight=calendar+sync
then I copied to /system/app the "GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk" from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19422233&postcount=24
Now I FINALLY have the checkbox under Sync Settings, and after checking it, the Google Calendar syncs!
Hi guys,
Ive got a nexus s running ICS. The problem I have is that as I keep my contacts sync with gmail, the display picture of the contacts is very poor! some of them are so bad that its difficult to tell who he/she is.
Can anyone please help me fix this problem? I have read some forums and people have commented that this is fixed in ICS but clearly it isnt as I still have the same issue.
Thank you
Saud
There is an app called haxsync on the market. It syncs your Facebook photos to the contacts, and they look great

It's caused by syncing with Google contacts. There's nothing you can do aside from syncing with Facebook (which AFAIK, suffers the same problem).

Only way is to add them in manually on a contact by contact basis via gallery.

or you can back-up them by Titanium backup, and then restore. Quality will be the same.

This is true. If you manually assign contact pictures AFTER your contacts have been synced, they will stay hi res. A PITA, but it works.
an alternative is Friendcaster that has an option that allows the use of high resolution images, it is also best of the original facebook app.
Is there any alternative app for non-facebook users?
I would hope so, but afaik there isn't any.

i think it's because of the sync with your google contacts.. google resizes your contact pics

We have to wait for google to update their contact. If your friends are using Facebook or Google+, you can use its picture. This is not the problem with the phone, it's the problem with the server handle the sync.

Is it even possible to have a Google+ account without my contacts knowing that I have one? I want the high res pics, but I hate social networks. There are also people that I don't want to have any contact with.

and even if i add Google+ most of my contacts with gmail havent signed on to get a plus ac ...
wish some dev would help us and find a fix for this (plsss) .. or google does so instead .. wasnt it better resolution in GB or Froyo ?
