My volume slider is defective and seems to be always pushed tot he left, turning all volume of completely and leaving the volume control on the screen. This means I can't use the screen as the volume control is "always on top". How can I disable the slider?
I don't know if there's something you could alter in the registry to fix it but you could always try the Blue Peter approach!
Put the switch in the middle and glue, sellotope or bluetack the switch in place.

Thanks! I'm already doing that with Blutack - but it's a bit of a pain when it falls off in my pocket.
Does anyone know a reg key I could use?
Just an idea:
Try to remap that button to some other control with AE Button plus.

is there any way to mute the incoming calls? if my slide volume button is not working anymore?
a program or something that adds a MUTE button near the answer or something. please help
what ROM are you using? There should be a volume control on the screen somewhere.
Been looking through my Nexus for some options on this. I would like to have it switch between Vibrate and Loud instead of Silent or Loud. I for one have no use for silent mode. Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing? Couldn't find anything on this. Thanks!
There sorta is.
Prese and release the power button to bring up the lock inscreen, then if you hold down volume down + top power buttom for a second or two, it'll go to silent mode. The volume rocker is then active until the screen shuts off. So for those five secs you can adjust the ringer volume. Tape volume up once and it'll take you to vibrate mode.
Same thing to bring back to loudest ringer. Hit the power button to bring up the lock screen then holdVolume up + power for a second or two and it'll go up to highest ringer volume.
Alternatively, just hold down the power buttong to bring up the "Airplane/Silent/Shut down" menu. From there you can hit volume up/down to adjust your ringer. Vibrate is one click up from silent.
Ah. Well that's a shortcut i didnt know. Not exactly what I was hoping for but thanks for the tip!
I hope that this gets changed in an update. I'd like to have the option to switch the phone to vibrate. Kind of like the hardware switch on the Moto Cliq.
Check out the apps from kaa on the market. They work for me to lock the volume keys to my liking.
For some reason when I play music through my HTC the green volume slider doesnt display anymore when I turn the volume up/down using the buttons on the side of the handset...I simply get a black bar that spans the length of the screen.
Anyone else got/had this? Any ideas how to bring the green volume slider back??! Its doing my head in.
Use the search function This has been asked many times before. This goes together with the set of taskbaricons u have installed which is not compatible with your Manila-/Sense-Version. In every Taskbar-Mod there is a HTCVolume.dll which has to match your Manila-Version. Just read what the developer of the taskbar writes about compatibility.
Cheers
People just wondering if theres a way to adjust the volume settings from the lockscreen or a way to make the phone silent or loud just from thr lockscreen like on an iphone with the button on the side.
As i found this to be very easy to switch between loud and silent modes before going into meetings etc...
Cheers
Simply pull down the notification center and click twice on the volume toggle
