mobile data enabled when wifi turned off - HTC Aria General

Liberty Cm7 2/25 Nightly - issue when turning off wifi mobile data (edge in my case) icon appears and is active automatically even with mobile data turned off. Power control widget option is not set to turn anything on automatically when turning off wifi.
This behavior was not present in Liberty CM7 RC1
Mods please move this to the android development forum. I can't post there.

you are using an experimental nightly build. I would check the cyanogen mod forums and see if its a common issue. otherwise, wait for the next nightly and see if it persists or flash back to cm7rc1.

I flashed back to rc1. Just thought I would report the issue.
Thanks and great work!

I cought that too and it is a common issue also listed on the cyanogen mod forums.
I just changed my APN Name so my data wouldnt transmit

This issue affects CM7 nightlies 6 - 8. A change to fix this has been merged into the repository, so I expect that the next nightly ( 9 ) release will fix it.

[Q] Wifi Connectivity Issues

I picked up a NC over the weekend and followed the steps to get CWM on SD and ran manualnooter to root then I installed CM7. everything seemed fine except after connecting to WiFi it never seems to actually connect very long and when it does connect its very slow. The most success I have had is when I connect to my hotspot running on my Inspire 4G. Is there a fix for WiFi or should I just start the process over and format the system, data and cache under mounts and storage. When it works its great but the fact is it does not work a lot more than it does. I have not even successfully opened twitter or facebook but I have gotten my gmail 2 times but the rest of the time it times out loading conversations.
I'm having an issue with recent CM7 nightlies in that redirecting hotspots (hotels, restaurants, trains) don't work anymore. On first access, I used to get the "Don't misbehave" click-through, but now I don't get anything, just the "web page is unavailable".
Anybody else seeing this?
Try going into wifi settings and click "never" sleep. Go to wifi settings, hit the menu button then sleep policies and click never. Worked for me.

I will give this a shot once I get home this evening, Thanks.
Just a thought, are you connecting to a real router or an adhoc network?? if its to an ad hoc network there is some patches you need to look for
There is a know issue with CM7 stable and nightly builds ( based on 2.6.29 kernel) where using WPA2 AES encryption causes drops. The obvious workaround is to switch to WPA TKIP encryption if possible. The bug is said to be fixed in the CM7 beta 3.1 with the 2.6.32 kernel.

Both WiFi and data icons in statusbar

Hey,
After update to Gingerbread (no root, stock HTC) both of icons remain in the statusbar: WiFi and data. And data shows traffic (white arrows). Haven't had this before so: is this normal?

Sorry dude. Never met anyone on stock....
Sent from Hucknall via Pigeon...
Mine occasionally would do this on 1.72 but hasn't happened (yet) on 2.3.
A restart or turning mobile data off and on normally sorted it though. Never figured out why but it would usually happen when coming into range of a remembered WiFi link and mobile data simply wouldn't go away. Either that or when an MMS was involved whilst on WiFi, that invokes mobile data whilst WiFi is connected, if the APN's are set up right.
Hey there.
I have an Inspire, so I realize there are some differences between that and DHD, other than the fact that I was on stock Froyo before moving to Inspired Ace, but I am quite familiar with this behavior. The mobile data connection will show traffic when connected to WiFi when using Market or other apps that require location or cell data info, AFAIK. I spent several days trying to track this problem down then learned that the connection disables if you force stop Market. There are some other apps that cause this connection, but they were all user-installed.
Hope that helps!

wifi acts strange on every aokp rom

as the title says, my wifi acts weird on both AOKP roms that i've tried (stephen spear's AOKP pub, and the official AOKP mr1 build 2). wifi will stay connected, but the internet will just drop. i could be in the middle of downloading something and it will just stop downloading and i'll lose internet connection even though i'll still be connected to the wifi network. i can't recall if it did this on stock 4.2.1, but it's definitely done it on stephen spear's AOKP pub build and the official AOKP mr1 build 2. i even tried franco's latest kernel and it still does it.
does this happen to anyone else, where it stays connected to the network but loses internet connectivity?
Massive 4.2 problem. There's a Google bug report thread with about 1, 000, 000 people moaning.
Reboot is only thing that works for me.

This happens to me on one public Wi-Fi router I use. What I see is that android does not handle long breaks in data transmission caused by congestion, network delays, etc. Of course I see it the most on big downloads. The download will stall and will not resume even though other apps can access online content. This happens with this access point across multiple devices I have.

well shoot, guess i'll have to read some more on 4.2 problems! that makes sense then, i've only used 4.2 on my n7 and the problem only exists on my n7 since my two sgs3's have 4.1.2. thanks for replies guys, i'm glad to know i'm not the only person that experiences this!
I hope this information I posted will be useful:

I have a N7 32G and an ASUS RT-N66U and had been having disconnection of my Wifi during use. Sometimes, turning on and off Wifi works but at spots in my house that's a bit further from the router, it will not connect. A few weeks back, rebooting my router helped for a few days and same problem occurred again. Then I tried static IP, and that helped for a few days. The latest test I did was to increase the "Network Key Rotation Interval" on the N66U from the default of 3600 to 7200. Crossing my fingers and hoping that this will finally solve my disconnection problem. My Wifi is set to 2.4GHz band, Wpa2-personal AES.

Temporary fix:
I have the same problem and the temporary fix is wifi advanced settings - advanced - and turn wifi "always on" to "nerver", reboot your device in recovery and clear cache , reboot and go back to advanced on wifi and switch back to always on. It will work fine untill you shut down or reboot your device, in that case you'll have to repeat the steps.
Hope it helps. We should see an update from Google soon.

If you are talking about the CM10.1 that just had the wifi fixed then this issue needs to be reported to the developer. The developer needs to fix this issue.

but how to report? I can't able to post any comment on Android development
I just read your first post more carefully.
The wifi was fixed by dzo. He fixed the wifi the same way he fixed wifi in Aurora ICS. Your wifi problem is also in Aurora.
The best you can do is to flash the ROM (v5 with wifi) again (do a clean install). If it still doesn't fix that problem, then tell me and I will report the problem to developer.
Thanks.

Okay, I went back to Aurora V5U21 and flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24412002&postcount=3379
the patched WLAN configuration. Everything seems work great except I set the WiFi always on but when screen off still WiFi will off, but everytime it off it will autoconnect itself without reopen the WiFi.
And also I installed a clean CM10.1 V5, and used like 1 or 2hour then the WiFi icon remain blue but without updown arrow then awhile become grey and won't auto reconnect anymore, just stay grey there until I reopen WiFi. Is not a big problem but sometimes I open WiFi wait for Whatsapp or other social apps. I don't know when it disconnect.

OK, I will report that for you to the developer.
Same here
I too experience wifi not comnnecting after sleep mode... and When connected to USB mode.. the transfer rate is around 170 kbps... Anyone hav this problem??
I have sent a message to the developer. Now, I am not sure if he will fix this problem or not. I think he will fix it because a lot of people on the development thread are talking about this issue as well.
Since we are talking about CM10.1 wifi issues, I'll state mine too.
I installed CM10.1 v7 on my U8800, everything looked ok, apart from the wifi. I could see all networks around me but the phone couldn't connect to anyone.
The same issue was present in aurora 5v20 but flashing the alt wpa supplicant fixes the problem.
I tried using the same file in CM10.1, the wifi connected but only my home's router was visible ( I should be able to see at least 5 more routers) I could not see nor connect to any other network.
Anyone know why does this happen?

I am currently on CM10.1 v9 and found out that if I enable wifi modes b + g on my router the phone connects. With g mode only no luck. I don't know if that helps you, but it is something.

[Q] Data Connection to wifi

I'm using a Galaxy S4 from USC (SCH-R970).
4.3.1
Loaded PAC-MAN nightly build dated 11/16/13
All seems to work very well and I'm quite happy with the ROM. There is one glitch I'm having which I can only assume is from the ROM. Whenever I leave my wifi connection and the phone needs to switch to data, it doesn't. It takes a reboot and then all is well. This is what happens when I leave home to go to work. I don't have a wifi connection at work. Going back home doesn't cause any problems. It happily picks up the wifi again.
Other forums have had some suggestions such as toggling wifi on/off (as in airplane mode) etc., none of which seems to work for me. I need to do a reboot to get back to enabling data connection.
Has anyone else noted this? Is this a known issue? Are there any suggestions?
Thx
I have almost the same issue, for me, I randomly lose data connection, and have to reboot to fix it. I DL an app called 3g reconnect and haven't had the problem since. I don't know a real fix but hope that helps
