Anyone else trying the goole labs beta bowser? I think the concept is cool. Don't know if I will used to it though.
Turn it on in browser settings.

What web browser do you use?

Hey guys, I use Opera mobile web browser and I love how simple it is and how it looks. However, I noticed how several websites are cramped to only one side making it almost impossible to browse normally.
I have tried Dolphine browser but there is just too much in and and when I swipe side to side instead of the page, the side bars pop up. It gets really annoying.
I wanted to see what you guys general use for web browsing.

Stock browser is perfect for me. Nice and simple. I love it.

I use Dolphin Browser, though I know what you mean about the sidebar. I've found that if you scroll up/down first, then to the side, the sidebar doesn't show up as often.
I was using firefox but I switched back to the stock browser.the stock one runs much smoother.
Used Dolphin for the longest but just went back to stock. Like the simple clean interface and the side to side scrolling on dolphin just started to drive me nuts.
Stock. Tried Opera and Dolphin but went back to stock.

If you never use the side bars in Dolphin, you can disable the swiping side to side action in the settings. It helps make Dolphin more usable.
I'm using Dolphin HD, although I do find navigating around a page to be buggy sometimes.

Using Oprah mobile, You have a chance to receive free gifts, Oprah just gave out xbox kinet to her viewers.
Haha, didn't even see that spelling mistake! Silly me.
Funny thing, I never truely used the stock web browser. And the dolphin sidebars are the biggest pain in the butt!

I also use dolphin and have disabled the side bars because they drive me nuts. I'm a fan of the tabs which I find a great feature that isn't on stock.
Yeah, I love the tabs but I prefer the way it is on opera mini, plus opera is really nice and simple.

i do. skyfire rocks, and can watch most flash content with it.
Skyfire. So far it's my favorite but I'll be interested in trying firefox once it's a bit further along.
I have tried out several with the notification bar hide feature because of the screen burn in issues. For me dolphin hd can be really slow. Anybody that's using it without issues change any of the settings to get it to run properly?

Touch sensitivity and lag

Anyone having any issues with with their screens sensitivity such as the keyboards typing being very laggy and scrolling being very laggy as well. Tried doing a factory reset and no difference so I'm guessing defective product. Probably going to exchange tomorrow. Anyone else?

I only experienced that so far when typing a response on XDA. Some other forums I tried with the browser work great. Gmail works great. Scrolling is also slower on XDA but fine on other sites. There are other threads on this already.
A calibration.ini text file on root of memory worked for gtabs. Put it in the root directory nothing in it. Just a txt file called calibration.ini reboot the tablet but dont touch the screen during reboot. Try that

same here only lag when typing in forums
Quick update. I had my xoom plugged into the dock which was plugged into my 200w inverter which is pretty beefy and after unplugging the lag ceased. So obviously they dont play well together. And a little fyi for anyone else who might be experiencing similar problems.
I had sensitivity issues while I had their screen protector on. And then again for like 10 minutes after my fiancee spit on it.

Why don't you guys use the offical xda app? I can't get anything to lag on my xoom. I know that it'll lag if you are in the browser. But just download the app and use it as it seems easier to me.

The official XDA app fails to load half of the time and is slow the rest of the time on my XOOM. It used to be the same on my Nexus One, but after putting Gingerbread on last night it flies faster than I could imagine.

I don't use the XDA app because, if I recall correctly, it requires my device's ID. I don't download any application which requests permissions that it doesn't actually need to function.
It also lags horribly when typing comments on Slashdot (worse than on XDA). But here, scrolling lags as well whereas on Slashdot it's only typing.

Xda app

Shame the XDA app forces closed on Xoom... does anyone have a workaround?

this is a known issue and hopefully someone is working on it.
Tapatalk is basically the same app and works fine
i have the same and I paid for the app.......is anybody actively fixing this?
I have been using the XDA app since day 1. The only thing I have found I have to do is exit fully when done. I.e. I hit the back button till the app closes. If I leave it open for any significant time in the background it either gets stuck on the splash or whatever page I was on last. At that stage I force close and reopen it.

for some unknown reason the app works fine on the verizon xoom, but FCs for wifi-only; someone reported the same problem on the wifi-only transformer, so its got something to do with honeycomb without mobile data (some kind of id# or something?)

Wow. Really? So THAT'S why it crashes on tablets? I had always assumed it had something to do with the resolution being much higher than on a phone, but since you say the Verizon XOOM works, that blows that theory out of the water... I am going to see if my superiors have any idea why this is happening or if they can contact Tapatalk to fix the problem.
Fyi this problem does not exist on tapatalk.. has to do with something xda does differently

Also goes along with what I've heard in the past... From what I've read, Tapatalk's standard client used to have this issue, but then it was fixed. Perhaps the XDA app can be rebased to the newer Tapatalk.
I have had no FC's on my WiFi only Canadian MZ604.
What I do have, though, is a weird scrolling issue on certain threads where the text will copy itself onto every pixel it crosses until I stop scrolling and the screen refreshes.
I did note that it seems to happen mostly with hyperlinked text. Another possibility is text that has had it's color changed. Will have to play around with it some more to confirm this.
i just use the browser now. Its no big deal with the bigger screen.
It would FC on my Nook Color as well, which is wifi only. I was hoping for a better experience once I got my Xoom wifi (I also got the paid app) but it behaves exactly the same: as soon as I log in it FCs.

Always a Opera Mobile fan!!
I'll try maxthon though just for experience..
I tried it the other day, don't remember why I didn't like it... but dropped it for Boat-mini (for flash only).. I use Chrome 95% of the time, it seems to render/pinch-zoom, better than others. Only one I found that pinch-zooms (or double tap) on most mobile pages flawlessly.
I'm always a bit weary when applications begin or become to offer all kinds of bundles and addons - I felt that way with maxthon.
Apart from stock browser, I've been somewhat partial to Boat Browser and still like Opera on occasion (as my desktop user agent go to on mobile). I used Dolphin HD for a while, but I really didn't need the extra features (sonar and gestures) and addons growing from them.
I'm not sure however if Boat browser had advertisements - I've always used AdAway from Google Play (requires root) and never noticed anything blatantly obvious.

I use AOSP right now because it feels quicker than Chrome, but I miss my bookmarks.
Boat browser, because it has flash support!

Next browser. It feels a tiny bit faster than the Chrome browser + I like it's Icon
Chrome Beta because it's gestures to change tabs is good and sync to chrome on desktop function is useful!

I recently read that in the AOSP browser, all the saved data is in plaintext. Switched to chrome after that.
Maybe im a bit paranoid, but thats ok
A. Chrome because of the syncing.
B. Can I install the old stock browser on unrooted android? I don't use it much but Id like it back for the, even if limited, flash support.

I have chrome of course, opera, Firefox, and Dolphin. I like to use all of them. I have to say I really like the gesture bookmarks in Dolphin. That one may be the one I use most currently. But I am testing a lot of them.

I don't follow what you are saying. Any app that stores passwords locally even encrypted with a key is not secure on rooted devices since all they need is the encryption key. My guess is Google does this on purpose since obfuscation would just make people think it is secure without it actually being secure.

(logic dictates that) An app that stores passwords with an encryption key would not make that key easily available to other apps. Maybe im wrong and even encryption stored passwords are easily accessed. Makes me all the more thankful for PDroid.
Chrome of course! Simple and fast. I like stock browser too. Tried next browser and I really liked it. For simplicity, speed, and just everyday surfing chrome for me hands down!
