Last night I picked up a wireless ethernet bridge and hooked it up to my bluray player and xbox. Performance wise I'm actually pretty impressed. On 3g it streamed movies to my bluray flawlessly, and xbox live runs pretty well too. (Other than being disconnected every time I get a text or a phone call). On 4g xbox live runs damn near perfect, constant 3 bars with no lag on COD Black Ops.
Streaming movies to my bluray ate up a LOT of data. I burned through 750 megs in a few short hours. But xbox live barely uses any. A full game of Black Ops used maybe 1.5 megs at most, peaking at like 30-40 kbps.
I wouldn't mind using this fairly consistently, but there are some people out there claiming that Sprint will surely catch you and cancel your plan. Some people even claim that it could end up costing you thousands of dollars! I understand that this is against Sprints contract agreement, but this seems pretty ridiculous to me..
All I've read is speculation, but has anyone actually been caught? If so, what happened? Ive read that they can charge you for all the extra data you use, add the $30 hotspot to your plan without telling you, and even cancel you. I'm also curious about the unlimited data caps. Does Sprint do this? I read in a forum somewhere that some dude uses 30 gb a month playing on xbox live and has never been caught or charged anything extra!
Also, does it make any difference whether I'm on 3g or 4g? I know 4g uses Clear's network. How much control/access does Sprint have over your usage with them? If there is a real risk of getting caught, would it be safer to stick with 4g?
peeps got caught using too much roaming, canceled their acct, no etf. if your on sprint network or 4g your in the clear

I don't know personally anyone that has gotten caught. I am sure it has happened if you go over the 5gb mark monthly. As for the fellow saying that he does 30gb a month playing xbox I would say he is full of BS. Sprint gets wise once you start blowing through your internet use and if they didn't say you were teathering they would contact you letting you know to either cut down your use or get booted off their network.

As others have said it has been removed now. If you listen to the latest commercial it even says, "unlimited is truly unlimited we don't have a cap like other networks"
Yea. Unlimited is unlimited. I stream movies and download ROMs on my phone. I use a ton of data on just my phone. Not tethering. I use well over 5 gigs. And have for 2 years. Sprint won't do anything. Unlimited is unlimited. And we pay 10 bucks more for our already unlimited data. So, yea, I am using what I pay for. Twice.

I use 30+ GB of 3G a month through tethering to my laptop and watching Netflix on Xbox Live. Haven't heard a peep from Sprint. I'm sure they know I'm tethering, but unlimited means unlimited. If they don't like it, they can terminate my contract.
Quick question... Anyone know the thread that shows us how to force roaming data on our EVOs?

At the beginning of the post, he said he picked up an Ethernet bridge. This basically is a device that you attach Ethernet devices to and it then connects those devices to a wireless signal (i.e. from a wireless access point or router, or in this case the EVO in HotSpot mode). There are also some Blu-ray players that have wireless built in and there are, of course, wifi adapters for XBox as well.

To be specific, I bought a Tenda W150M Portable Wireless AP/Router.
$30 at MicroCenter. I didn't mind buying it because its a 5-in-1 device (AP, Client/AP, Wireless Router, WDS+AP, WISP), so when and if I decide to reactivate my Qwest DSL, I can use it as a range extender so I can pick up my WiFi out in the garage. It's usb powered and even has a mode button on the side so I can quickly switch between modes without having to adjust it via ethernet. $30 investment that does the job of both the $80 Sony BluRay wireless adapter and $100 xbox wireless adapter.

Currently, I have 2 iphones, and the 2 separate data plans that I have to get from AT&T for those. In addition, I also have a Verizon MIFI that I plug into my Cradlepoint router, to use as my home network for internet. Since I am capped at 5gb per month on my mifi, I really have to watch what I do each month on the internet (no streaming, etc).
I am seriously considering getting 2 EVOs instead, and ditching the iphones, and the mifi, but I would only do this, if I could truly use one of the EVOs as the main internet connection for my home. It makes sense to just have one of them with the $30 unlimited data plan, so I would only do the high volume of internet stuff when that phone was physically located in my house.
Is anyone using their EVO as their primary internet for their home?
i don't as i like my 12mpbs + comcast internet connection at home as the best i can get from my evo is 2-3mbps. you would not be in a good position if you have to rely on your evo to have internet connection. mainly, either phone has to be setup the same either either one of you leaves while the other needs internet access (and what would happen when you need leave and the other is using the internet?). secondly, what will you do for internet access while on the phone as sprint does not allow/voice & data at the same time. that is where you would benefit from the mifi as your internet is not dependent on your phone.
you would more than likely be saving money over the longterm by switching to sprint but you would not save money upfront. 2 x evo's @ $200 each = $400 + activation fee $36 = $436, cheapeast data and voice plan = $69 + $10 premium data usage = $79 + insurance/tax = $90 X 2 = $180/m for both phones
or family share plan
cheapest family plan $109 + (2x$10 premium data) = $129/m
you will save money overall in the end, but definately not upfront by switching to sprint. Does the $436 cost of paying for 2 evo's out weigh the cost of mifi for verizon? you could also look into getting a sprint mifi/hotspot instead....
Yes!!! I cancelled my stupid Comcast internet. I was paying $60 / month for a garbage connection that went down all the time. Sprint internet at least doesn't disconnect for periods of days at a time. Maybe it's not 6 mb/s YET but at least it's stable.
Basically it looks like this for me:
Before: Sprint SERO $30 + Comcast $60 = $90
Now: Sprint EPRP Family plan $45 + $30 Hotspot = $75
Cancelling Comcast: PRICELESS I despise this company so badly, that I think I would have paid more than double the price just so that I wouldn't be forced to use them. (My apt is covered by the Comcast monopoly unfortunately)
Seriously, try it out. Worst case you change your mind. I have nothing but good things to say, and I'm running only over 3G. I can't wait til 4G, it will be amazing. The only problem is, as you know, the phone must be there and not on a call. Also streaming netflix you get lower quality (not HD) video so that stinks but I am guessing on 4G it will be better.
This probably doesn't matter to you, but just so you know the pings are very decent for me at least: I range from as low as 70 ms to 150 ms if signal is bad. I've been playing games like Halo 3 and Warcraft 3 with no issues whatsoever ( and winning )
A disclaimer: I am single, living alone, so my flexibility is better. Still, if you are not in the best financial position, you have to ask yourself where the value lies in internet for $60 / month. Obviously a dedicated cable / dsl / T1 line is preferable, but is it really worth it?
Any questions feel free to ask.
After just my first post, i get 2 great contrasting posts, with useful information in both. That's awesome.
The biggest issue I see now, is the fact that you can't hotspot & send/rcv calls at the same time. That almost defeats the purpose, if I have to use my connection to work, and am either on the net, or on the cal
Is that true for tethering and the hotspot? Perhaps that is the same interface on the phone?
The cost savings would be about $50 per month, based on the config. Based on the months left in my contract, that would mean the sooner I want to switch, the better off I would be, from a monthly expense. The costs of early termination for both iphones, and my mifi, are not really that bad, and it actualloy appears that the sooner I do it, the better it gets.
Im surprised no1 has said this yet but are u aware that you can root ur phone and have free unlimited wifi tendering.
I use my evo as my main connection in my dorm. My college uses a wack internet connection in the dorms, that doesnt go above 1mb/s on wifi and 1.5 mb/s when using a landline. N on top of that they moniter ur connection, make sure u dont do illegal stuff.
So for me a evo is a gift from god
If you are not in a 4g area you could pick up an old sero plan for 30/mo and a cheapo winmo phone and tether exclusively from that, and use the evo for your main phone. When/if you get 4g, cancel or sell the sero line and use the 4g off the evo (4g is data and voice at the same time).
Was reading thru the threads and decided to try something out.Am running a rooted Evo with wireless tethering on 3g and just made a call to see if both will work at the same time and they doWe have Road Runner from Time Warner and it doesn't seem to run all that much quicker thru a wirless router than Sprint's 3g,If my wife and I tether both laptops to the Evo at the same time,it slows down a little but not too bad considering its free.
To the people talking about that Sprint does not allow Call and Data at the same time never considered 4G. You CAN do Call and 4G Data at the same time.
I ditched my Road Runner bill of about $40. Almost completed a month as my phone as my sole internet provider. I play on Xbox Live, stream from Netflix, and internet on my desktop and laptop. So far so good.. I live by my self so I don't need the internet at home all day. What I am running below:
Evo 4G (1.47.651.1 and 25% discount/month) + Root + Wireless Tether 2.0.2
I wanted to know if I can hard wire my phone to a router. One because my download speeds when I wire tether to my PC are about 1.5 to 2.0 mbs faster than when I wireless tether. And second I want to amplify my wireless signal.. make sense? lol

How is netflix over 4G? what quality do you get? HD? On 3g the picture is very standard def.
What if you try a kernel with wireless N? Not sure if it would be reflected in speeds, but in theory it should help.
having wifi N wont make anything faster except inter-network transfer, the bottleneck is the 4g, its slower than N, so anything between the phone and your laptop should be fast, but not to the outside world.

Netflix (wire tether) on PC looks the same, HD content does not look that great, maybe a hair better, but not by much. Netflix over Xbox Live is almost the same. HD content doesn't look like HD lol... but it is viewable
On a second note, trying Windows Internet Connect Sharing now. Not no expert in network by all means and first time I tried this..
But this is what I am trying to do. Wire tether to PC, ICS to Xbox 360 via eathernet cable.
Only reason I am looking for a wired solution is because it is faster. Wireless Tether 2.0.5-2 is slower than 2.0.2. On Xbox Live trying to play Modern Warfare 2 with Wireless Tether 2.0.5-2 is sloooooooow. Searching seems to take forever. Went to 2.0.2 and noticed connection speeds a lot faster. Can't play Red Dead Redemption multiplayer with any of the two. Hoping that wire tether + ICS will work.

You are correct but you need 2 things to make that work. First is 4g in your area and secondly a good/reliable 4g signal. I can't wait until sprint does evora so we dont have to have 4g
Has anyone considered this?
I have AT&T and was wondering if it would be better to get a 2 year 4g hotspot from like Sprint (is it unlimited) and I could use it at home and take it with me to use on my xoom etc?
It's unlimited, but 4G on sprint doesn't do so hot indoors. Walls block 2.5ghz spectrum.
Also, it looks pretty likely that sprint will start to tier data levels soon.
I keep seeing the Mifi 4g hotspots available for like $300 with no contract. How does service work? Do you still need to activate it and pay the $50 a month with Verizon?
I guess it may be cheaper to pay the $$ and get a thunderbolt out of contract and use the 4G on that instead rather than the $300 for the mifi wifi hotspot huh
Why not wait till the Xoom has 4G and use it as a hotspot, unless you got the WIFI because you thought 4G would be useless!

I bought the 4g version and saved $200 by getting a $20 a month data plan (which I use about 750MB of). I will not have to upgrade my phone to 4g for tethering and spend another $200. I can also talk and surf the web/navigate at the same time, that statement sounds familiar!
It's about a wash depending on your needs.

It's all about speed not volume for me. I would not necessarily use more data because it's faster I would just get those tasks done quicker.
Now if I used as a hotspot I would needs a bigger plan.
As others have said, the Sprint 4G MiFi doesn't do well inside. The high mhz spectrum doesn't do well to penetrate walls. You very rarely get full bars inside in my experience.
It sounds good to try and use a 4G hotspot for your home internet, but once you start spreading out a single WiMax signal (less than 10mbps down, capped 1mbps up) to several people and/or devices, you're not going to be as comfortable as you would be with home cable internet.
Now, LTE might be another situation because the speeds are much higher than WiMax and it penetrates buildings better, but still you're relying on a wireless signal to come down and then be spread back out to the devices.
For people like me who play games, I don't see myself cutting the cable internet any time soon. Not to mention that I regularly use 75gb+ of internet every month. Don't think theres a single carrier (even Sprint) that would be okay with this.
Verizon is a big bag of irony when it comes to LTE and pricing.
They're promising fast speeds, which for most people means streaming video and audio, but their pricing is too expensive to do much media streaming.
If I had deep pockets, Verizon LTE as a mobile hotspot would be great. Sadly, I don't have deep pockets. I think Clear/Sprint are currently the best options at the moment.
I'm not sure if I'm even going to upgrade to LTE. 3G seems to do alright, and I'm worried that LTE will be a battery suck. Battery is more important to me than speed.

LTE (and other 4G tech) is very much so a battery hog. There's no way that you can have that big jump in bandwidth and connection without affecting battery life until they expand the technology more (remember, the move from 2G to 3G was met with the same concerns).
I think anyone using an Evo 4G or Thunderbolt will quickly tell you how much WiMax or LTE is killing their battery.
ive got the mifi 3g/4g gadget and 4G and 3G work wonderfully inside the house in my experience. also ive tried it inside the company building and 4G works well.. it does help im in a major 4G city.. but the 4G works quite well indoors. it has about a 28-32 foot range so you could sit it near an external wall facing 4g coverage and be set.
i have used the novatel with a laptop, xoom, first gen ipod touch. definitely a good option. there is also the overdrive pro which has 4G verizon and att have the same mifi box also..
the key here is to make sure your primary location has ample supply of 4G and your set for unlimited. again the spees ive seen are quite nice.

Specifically Sprints 4G WiMax doesn't do well indoors, because of the specific spectrum it uses. Verizon, ATT, and Tmo use different tech and spectrum that has better building penetration...haha...i said penetration. But if you got it to work, cool.
yes mr. carpenter i understand your post and i do understand the cons of wimax inside buildings, hence why i said it works for me as im in a dense 4G area, so the two main places i frequent has 4G abundantly. it surely does fall off rather quickly inside structures however the results ive had are just superb, especially when its unlimited. sprints coming out with a 10gb plan this sunday and releasing new bundled plans so i should be able to get 10gb of 3G for 70 bux.
I've been using the Sprint Overdrive since last summer. Although I wouldn't recommend this particular device the 4G service itself is excellent. The Overdrive is plagued with well documented problems. When it actually connects and stays connected the service is fast and solid, as with the 4G service on my Epic. As for using WiMax 4G inside, I've found it needs to be positioned for optimal signal, I set mine on top of the refrigerator. I may eventually switch to the new MiFi unit, but I'm waiting to see how the reviewers feel about it first.
Better off rooting verizon's thunderbolt...

The best answer any of us can give you is, "When you wake up one day and the service if better, mark that date - that's when it will get better."
Also, when will Sprint customers and XDA members become clairvoyant?

October 7 is when they are announcing their plans for the network. After that, we'll have a much better idea of what will be happening with network improvements, the LightSquared LTE build-out, and hopefully WiMax.

How about first half of 2012?
http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/27/sprints-lte-build-out-already-underway-new-4g-network-to-launc/
Very excited that they may re-purpose the Nextel spectrum for LTE, since it will have much better building penetration.
I just did speed test when I am on downtown Greenville.
I cant do anything on 3g right now
the network vision will take a while to complete nationwide, however as they update the towers, 800 frequency will help with calls in your home, possibly evdo rev b could be announced in addition to lte (l-band) from lightsquared. It will not be pretty over the next year or so, hopefully with all the cuts they have made and service costs they've increased the money and deals that have been made will make for a truly different cellphone company.
Today's result... I going to try verizon PRL tomorrow

I disagree and I will tell you why that is. If I am at home and using my phone to download from the market, I am lucky if I can download a 1MB app within a 3 to 4 MINUTE time frame. Completely unacceptable when I pay $140 a month for service.
**EDIT** Here is the difference between 3g where I live in Phoenix, and the 1 tiny square block of 4g that's several miles from me. Keep in mind that according to Sprint I "live in an excellent coverage area"

What's your point to that I'm referring to land based internet dsl, cable, fiber optic. I listen to pandora everywhere I go with no issues. my wireless in my house is only for phone and laptop. I have 3 pc's and a ps3 all wired. When I stream blu ray movies I don't let my $800 cisco wifi access point do it. I get one gigabit of bandwidth wired so that's why I do it wired.
Its gonna be a time when you don't need wires. phones are getting faster and faster

I don't think the current problem with Sprint is their backbone, I think they lost tower sharing in many places due to an expired agreement with someone around March. I've had Sprint for nearly 10 years, my phones just don't have signal in many places that it used to and it hasn't gotten better 7 months later. If you have full bars, then the backbone upgrade will likely make things fly, if you have 1 bar or none, it isn't going to help you very much. I would love to know the percentage of complaints that are lack of signal based vs full bars and still slow throughput.
I'd also like to know when the new frequencies that Lightsquared has will begin to be added to the chipsets and implemented into the next gen phones 2012, 2013? Finally is anyone else curious to see what happens when I get a call and my Garmin GPS is on?

Where's this block of 4g at?
Sent from my SPH-D700
So I've had my SGS III on tmobile about two weeks (Bought 6/28) And I've already hit my data cap at 5.2gb with 2gb from Play Music alone.
I just got off the phone with retentions and they told me 2 things:
1. ETF is $200 (so I could theoretically sell the phone here or on ebay for $300-600, or I still have 3 days to return the phone to walmart.)
2. There's nothing they can do for me, aside from charge me full price for the $65/mo 10gb "unlimited" data. I could not get the $10 off for 24 months either. I pay $108/mo after fees for unltd. everything. (Ha ha!)
So, Sprint users, how is your data? I'm seriously considering dumping tmobile this week for sprint, I can't do this throttling BS for two years.
And Tmo users, have *you* hit your cap yet? how quickly?
I've only hit my cap once with my 5 gig data plan since I switched over to T-Mobile from Sprint last year. I had Sprint for 4 years and boy does their data speeds suck. Yeah their data speed may be unlimited but you'll be stuck with dial up connections compared to to T-Mobiles hspa

I haven't hit my cap yet but I don't stream much, I have used 2 gb in almost 2 weeks that's for sure, also new YouTube app held since it downloads the videos in wifi, sprint if is good where you live is great but if is not you will definitely prefer to pay more for tmobile, I used to have sprint but loading YouTube videos sucks now, compare to two years ago, if you are in one of the cities that is getting sprint soon I would definitely recommend it to

So please explain to us all how it's T-Mobiles fault? You obviously know what your usage habits are. You should know if 5GB a month won't be enough for you. I download apps, play online games, watch YouTube, surf the net, etc.. 2GB a month works well for me. So obviously if you use that much data it's on you and not on them. Upgrade to the highest plan and quit complaining.
No one's fault but your own, sorry.

Seriously, it's like you think you're entitled to unlimited. You chose T-Mobile over anyone else, and chose their 5GB plan. Why are you so surprised that you'd have to pay more for more unthrottled data?
Cool story bro!
Powered by the SGSIII
How can you even use 2 gigs from Play Music in two weeks?!? Are you using it 24/7?
Hahaha!!!!!!!! Go to verizon lol they will sell you all the high speed you need. I just switched from Verizon to tmobile. Verizon charges $60/ month for 1gb and tmobile charges $25/month for 5gb.
I couldn't be happier. If you need to stream that much use fm radio or wifi or.. Pay more money.

OP,
Why aren't you using wifi for large items?
I averaged 2GB data & 5GB wifi /mo on TMO....and that 2GB was surfing whenever I wanted and streaming pandora/google music for hours everyday..
Okay, then switch to sprint.. there's nothing we can do here..

I'd say switch to sprint and hop on their unlimited. Lots of people complain about slow speeds (which compared to other carriers they are) but I 've never had a problem streaming Netflix and other videos while tethering and hopefully their quick with the lte rollout. I've been with sprint 11yrs and never had a problem
You may want to consider a bigger microsd card if you are streaming so much data. As far as speeds go, it all depends on market. Ask around at work and see if anyone has sprint, if they do, see if they will do a speed test for you. I know for a fact that in my area, sprint has the worst 3g out of any of the big 4. When i had them i averaged less than 100kb down. I've also seen people hit 1.5 mbps in other areas on a regular basis. YMMV.

Yeah, after I realized that I'd lose the "4G" with the one on t-mobile waiting for sprint to roll out LTE in orlando, I think the best way to do this is trim down my music library and keep it on an SD, and just use play music to push new songs
I'm just frustrated that t-mobile calls it unlimited at all. It's a lie in itself because the service is limited in one way or another, it's not fair to still call it unlimited just because it's not limited in the way it usually is.
sprint................suckkkksssssss! Had the service for 4 days and it was painful with roaming, pathetic speeds. Tmobile is insane in my area with their 3g+ I get consistent 15mbs down and 3mbs up. learn to find wifi and use it. wifi is our friend.

But they don't call it unlimited 4G access anywhere I've seen. They call it, quite clearly, unlimited data with xGB of high speed data. And they deliver exactly on that promise.

++++1 On this. I consider myself an average to moderate user when it comes to data. I use the WIFI only at my house, and I have a 5 GB data plan. I have yet to pass 2GB of usage since switching from Sprint 3 months ago. On another note, I average 17MB down and 3MB up in my area, which is faster than my own internet service provider, and on Sprint I would average around 700KB down and 300KB up. Good luck switching to Sprint.

Your frustrated...uh huh..sorry but I'm frustrated reading this post...They call it unlimited 2 gb, 5 gb.. there's a reason for the number after the unlimited, also read the fine print it says they throttle your speeds... In the future you should really try to read the fine print and ask questions like why is the unlimited 2gb cheaper then the unlimited 5 gb... Make sure YOU don't make the same mistake again in when you actually buy something important with financing like a car or house...
Op I say check in your area and see if sprint has good coverage and good network speed in your area before making any moves. I live in Miami and still have my e4gt since I rely on wimax and it isn't a big upgrade difference with the s3, here's some speed test I took a few days ago using wimax

I rather get an average of 9-11mbps and highs 13-14mbps on a good day and have unlimited then to have 20-60mbps and have a data cap but that's just me lol, the speeds I get now is good enough to browse, play hd YouTube videos with no problem, and tether with good speeds too.

Not sure if anyone noticed but Verizon announced yesterday it was bringing back unlimited data! I was on the 24 GB plan with 10 devices. The VZ web site is basically down when you try and upgrade so I spent 2 hours on hold. When I finally got someone they compared what I pay now with what it would cost to go to unlimited. My cost went DOWN 30 bucks a month to go to unlimited. They can throttle you after 22 GB but only if there is heavy network congestion. I think this is the same thing T-Mobile and AT&T too. This new plan also provides 10 GB of hotspot use. I signed up just now.

Just read up on this. Not a huge fan of Verizon but some things seem a little off to me about this plan.
"Everything included in Verizon Unlimited:
Unlimited talk, text and data.
If a line uses 22GB of data in a billing cycle, Verizon can throttle that line within the rest of the cycle should it attach to a congested network location.
10GB per month per line of 4G LTE tethering; drops to 3G after first 10GB.
Unlimited calls and text to Mexico and Canada.
Unlimited talk, text, and data in Mexico and Canada. Only first 500MB of data at 4G LTE speeds; 2G afterwards.
“Full-quality HD video,” which Verizon says comes at you the way the partner sends it. It’s not throttled to 480p like T-Mobile and Sprint do. Technically, that should mean you get 4K streams, 1080p streams, and whatever else is sent to you from a partner (the app you are streaming from). There isn’t a toggle on or off – you just get HD and above streams if the partner is sending that level of stream."

I've highlighted two bullets there for a very specific reason. In my experience, the unlimited plans are great for people that are constantly scrolling their way through Facebook and Instagram and can't stay off Snapchat. Additionally (and perhaps more importantly), these plans are useful for people that like to stream videos and shows when WiFi isn't available to them. The fact that these videos are streamed to your device in the highest quality the connection can achieve is actually a problem. This is because you only get 10GB of 4G LTE data a month, afterwards it's throttled to 3G. This means that watching videos will use up your 10GB in a flash and then you'll be stuck with mediocre speeds.
For comparison, the equivalent T-Mobile plan gives you 26 GBs of unthrottled data for $10 less, after which you have the chance of being throttled. The only drawback being that all of the video content you watch is in 460p or less. Either way, it's kind of cool to see Verizon bringing this plan back. Competition is usually good for consumers.
EDIT: jk, this is wrong lol

The only thing that is getting throttled is your tethering (hotspot) after 10gigs ..
As far as streaming movies and TV shows from your phone, you can do that as much as you want. And you won't notice and slowdown unless there is heavy network congestion AND you've used over 22gig already.
Nothing off or weird about this at all.

Inapplicable corporate discount is what's keeping me from upgrading to this plan. I get 21% off. That's a significant amount.
I wonder what the core differences are between the old Unlimited data plan that costs $50 now vs this new one. I know they both will have the 22GB "soft cap" as that has been a thing for quite some time now. Since I'm sure quite a few of us tether without the extra monthly charge I wonder if we were to switch over and they provision our line, Verizon would be able to detect this? If that is the case 10GB being tethered will go fast especially when you're watching videos. I tether my devices a lot at work to listen music and watch YouTube and I can exceed that quite quickly. I'm wondering with the new plan with custom software on our devices if they would be able to detect the tethering activity or not. Looking forward to seeing people's thoughts on this . I'd save $8/month switching to the new plan even w/ my 21% discount not applying.
I get veterans discount so I'm really debating about doing this. I wonder since I have the bypass that the tethering would still get bypassed so instead of the 10gb it would be on the mobile side data.

I guess it would be a messy bill if you did make the change to go into effect immediately. Verizon and their prorations and month in advance billing.
Yup it would have been 213 or some crap
I switched immediately. Dropped my bill by about 20 or so.
won't save me any money with them taking away the corporate discount. It would cost me 45 more. I rarely use more than 2 GB a month, always on wifi (at work, home, wherever xfinity has a hotspot). I am on the 12GB plan and have 2 GB of bonus data from getting my pixel xl.

The old plan doesn't have a throttle cap at all.
I lost my 20% Corporate discount but I kept running out of data with a week left in my cycle and I had the 30 GB plan. I have 6 phones and one tablet on my account. This new plan winds up costing about the same as the old plan with the 20% discount but I'll get more data as one phone rarely uses the bulk of our data. It's 4 of the 6. Even if they do throttle at 22 GB per line, that would be 88 GB in total on the 4 lines that use a lot of data.
It's not perfect, but it suits my needs better.
I have the old UDP with no cap use 200gb monthly never throttled and there's a loophole for the $29.99 pricing for UDP
