Hey I recently got a vibrant and have been trying tonged it unlocked. I sent the phone into samsung for a factory restore. When I got the phone back and tried to use the galaxy s unluckier and it would not give me a code. The application would return with "are you sure this is a galaxy s phone?". I rooted the phone and tried again with same result. I went on ebay and paid for an unlock code and it didn't work. I had the guy recheck the code and when he tried again the same code came back so it must be the correct code for my phone. I tried doing the i9000 hack that requires changing the data inside nv_data.bin to make the unlock code all0's. That didn't work either. Is there any reason the paid unlock code would not work if it was the correct code for my iemi? Is there anything I can do?

Omg, dude you have me freaking out over here. My Vibrant comes back from Samsung (where they restored it) on Monday! I don't even live in the US so I don't have many options. Please let me know if you get it figured out.
Edit: Wait a second, I think of heard about this problem before. If memory serves me, you have to flash it to another firmware (downgrade) for you to be able to unlock it. Can't recall which one though... run a search on here.

I'm having errors also like yours, but you have already tried a code but i haven't cause i can't obtain my code. i'll just tell t mobile to give me the code.

Sorry to worry you. I dont know what they did, but the codes are no longer stored in the nv_data.bin file and where the unlock code should be its all F's. From what I read that happens when you update to froyo, but I never did and I verified the phone was not on froyo. So I went ahead and paid for the unlock code and when I got it and tried it, it sadly did not work. I thought it was maybe the incorrect code so I had the guy check it again and he got the same code back. He is going to credit me back what I paid, but I am affraid to try from someone else and get the same code. I am hoping someone can shed some light on a possible fix, I have tried flashing to various 2.1 releases and trying the code but it didnt work.

Yes I tried that method already. In fact I spent an entire day trying to get it to work. Every time it says network lock unsuccessful and doesnt unlock my phone.
Is that method suppose to work because I could never get it to. I followed the directions perfectly with no errors so i dont know. maybe I am using the wrong firmware, but since its posted in the i9000 forum I am guessing most of them use firmware for that phone. I have tried the original firmware, the one that came after that, and the very newest one. I think there were a couple in between.
Could anyone send me a good nv_data.bin, maybe I can inject my code into it and get it to work.

Did you manage to get it working? I would have sent you the nv_data.bin but I haven't received my phone as yet.
Just so I understand, did you ever have this phone unlocked? I mean before you sent it to Samsung, was it unlocked?

same thing for me except I never sent mine into Samsung, still on JI6 firmware and never flashed it with another rom...but the application says, no codes found
I recovered and there's a nv file there but after using 0xHex, I get FFFFFFFF and a bunch of numbers

i am having the same exact problems as u with my vibrant...i`ve tried everything the last 3 days and nothing...my nv_data.bin shows 0kb so if anyone could send me a good nv_data.bin also i would appreciate that....if it still doesnt work i will have to sell my phone because i have att thats why i am needing to unlock it

I don't think I'm gonna have any problems as my phone was unlocked before. And I have the unlock code for it. In my haste, I misread and thought Laaf's phone was unlocked then came back from Samsung locked. Then he couldn't re-unlock it. My bad...
I had the same problem with my phone. I used this method:
Step 1
Punch this code into the dialer
*7465625*638*#
Step 2
Lock it to the MCC of the carrier you want to use.

I think you need to flash to stock use to use this dialer code, I'm on Froyo and I can't use that code.

I don't think a nv_data.bin from someone else will do you any good, I am sure it would be their code , but I may be wrong ...
The problem is, way back , before you ever flashed any new rom or update, many threads stated, make a backup copy of your nv_data.bin, and you can restore it whenever you need it ...
I have flashed many many many custom roms and always restoring my phones original nv_data.bin allowed me to generate codes(I have unlocked it but did it just for testing purposes), and no matter what rom I flashed after restoring it always generates my same code.
soooo that being said, if you do not have your nv_data.bin, there are some hex edits you can do to the one with the F's in it, or you call tmo for the unlock code.

Are you running JI6? Ive heard the sgs unlocker app will not work once youve updated. At least not so far.

I bought my phone with no contract so I just requested my unlock code from TMO.
Is a non-TMO sim card required for the unlock?
I got it unlocked but now the imei is wrong. Gotta figure out how to fix it. No backup of nv_data.bin so may be out of luck.

Just because...
no real reason since it works now, but maybe in the future i might need my original imei on the phone.
June 2011 RE-EDIT... Use the instructions here or here to unlock.
EDIT: SIM-Lock on JI6 has been solved for me with helroz's repair_nv_data.zip, read further along...

Can someone who has had Tmobile US for at least 40 days put a request in for an unlock code for my Vibrant? I only have ATT and no friends with Tmo. The Tmobile unlock team already refused my request. You would just need to call Customer Service, ask for the unlock team. I tried all the solutions in the forums - I have a messed up nv_data (bought it on craigslist). Shoot me a PM if your willing to help. Thanks in advance.

There is an apk you can get called sgs unlock and it will give you the unlock code
the sgs unlocker doesn't work if the vibrant's had the JI6 update flashed or any other custom ROMs in it.
I'm also trying to unlock my JI6 updated vibrant. I was a dumbass and didn't unlock it when it was on JFD.
I paid cellunlocker.net for a code, but apparently it takes up to 3 days to get the code.

wow can't believe you can do that in JI6 update, cuz i know about one unlock method that erases your phone's IMEI number and unlocks it permanently but thats questionable to be.
he sent me a repair_nv_data.zip and it fixed my nv_data and maintained the imei thats listed under my battery

I am actually in the same situation. I cant get mine unlocked using the app because it doesnt give me an unlock code and just says 'are you sure this is a galaxy s phone?'. I also tried paying for a code and the code did not work, the guy who did it also retried a second time and the code was the same, so I dont know whats up with that. My IMEI is the same as whats on my original box. I tried hacking the nv_data.bin myself using the guide posted somewhere in the i9000 thread. If someone could send me that fix I would be very grateful.

why don't you try calling t-mobile and get your code?
the sgs unlocker won't work to me too. my only chance left is the code from t-mobile.

Dont have tmobile, thats why i want to unlock it to begin with. otherwise, i cant use the phone. i have at&t.

I would rather try this method. I'm not paying again for a code that may not work. I already paid $20 to swiftunlocks and the code didn't work. I got this phone 2 weeks ago and I still haven't been abke to use it.

I am a T-Mobile customer and I am using a Samsung Vibrant.
Before I contact T-Mobile customer service for an unlock code for the Vibrant I wanted to verify some stuff.
The Vibrant was on stock 2.1 then it was updated to stock 2.2 (KA6) via Kies Mini, at some point it was rooted and a voodoo injected stock kernel was flashed using Odin, after that I flashed back to stock JFD using Odin and updated to stock 2.2 (KA6) via kies mini, and now I am on stock 2.2, no root, no lagfix, nothing...
If I get the unlock code from T-Mobile and I manage to unlock the device, what would happen if I flash back to stock JFD for whatever reason or flash some custom ROM ?!
Would the unlock remain intact? If no would I be able to use the same unlock code to unlock it again?

My unlock has remained through flashing several ROMs and using Odin to go back to stock.

I would go for this method.
For some reason when I asked for the unlock code when I still had my nexus they refused to give it to me. Probably didn't know what in the bloody hell I was talking about.
hate that about customer service reps.
If you had the phone for more thn 3 months they will give you the code without any issues...
Just go into the Market and search for the SGS Unlock App. It gets your unlock code automatically for you. With the GSM Galaxy S devices the unlock codes were loaded onto the devices, and somebody created an app to exploit it so there ya go.

There are multiple threads right now about unlocking. You can do it yourself and there are several methods, just search.
To be honest I read several times that the market application only worked for those who used it on JFD, once upgraded to JI6 it would not work. Right now I am on KA6.
I am a T-Mobile customer and have been for a while and in the past I requested the unlock code for other phones at least 3-4 times and always got it within a day or two... so I see no reason why I would fiddle with any other method if I can get it from the source...

Yesterday I placed a call to T-Mobile and requested an unlock code. Today within 20 hrs. from the request I received an email with the unlock code.
I requested codes before for other phones and I gotta say this was the fastest response by far for me.
Yeah its an easy process to just get it from tmobile.. did it a couple times with no problems. Just used the bs "im going abroad blah blah blah" story

Type *#7465625# into the dialer. This will tell you if the network lock is on or off.
I only need people with unlockable Bootloaders to respond
Process
1.)Download Omnius and Backup Full TA
2.)Open TA with text editor
3.)Look for code listed
Code:
RCK_H=
4.)copy the code and save it somewhere
5.)Get unlock code from SE Bootloader website
6.)Post both codes here or PM them to me
The Idea behind this is that the RCK_H code is the Unlock code after a hashing algorithm.
once that is determined us CDMA guys might have a shot at getting the bootloader unlocked.
That was what I was talking about in R800x root thread.
I already have some on my PC, but I have no idea how to crack it fast.

For the record the unlock code is an Unsalted SHA-256
now OclHashcat can take this no problem.
we just have to wait out the unlock code to be bruteforced.

are u running a bruteforce now atm?
the specs of the software OCLhashcat-lite says it is capable of up to 55 character passwords, I am having trouble setting up the software properly since it is all command line.
but I have noticed that the unlock code is fed in as a hex string not as a not just as a string of characters. it does make a difference in the hashing.

I failed two times trying to unlock my note 3 n900w8 (bell) that has been flashed to cyanogenmod. Does anyone know if flashed firmwares have problems unlocking? The guy at the second shop told me that I needed to go back to stock. Is anyone familiar with this?

You cannot unlock by just flashing another firmware.
No...what I mean is I try to unlock AFTER flashing... I currently fail to unlock on cyanogenmod

The same. You need unlock code for it.
Nevermind, I got it to work.
PSA and to all future readers: If you're using a note 3 from CANADA (n900w8), and you flash a hlte/cm based custom rom on it, you will NOT be able to unlock your phone using the unlock code from your original carrier while you're on the custom rom (as it's carrier is 'general'; see below) -- you need to revert back to stock (I had bell) and then throw in the unlock code for the original carrier for it to unlock.
What I theorize is that you'll be able to use a general unlock code rather than a carrier specific unlock code to work when on a general (ie. cm) based rom however.
