Allows you to manage APP installed via the website and have them pushed to your Android devices. Not sure if anyone has looked at it yet.
Im on Bonsai ROM with Market version 2.2.11 and its not working for me. The website finds my Epic but apps don't get pushed to my phone when I click install. Is there a newer version I need?
I havent I'm not by a computer but I'm interested though....
Is it like the app store on itunes?
I'm tired of updating my phone and not having acess to certain apps
This would take all the pain away!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Worked for me, but I'm on stock.
Wasn't that one of the features of Gingerbread? It thought they mentioned that at the Froyo push last year.
They actually first showed this off last year at the Froyo event.
Getting SERVER NOT FOUND error?
I was able to use this today successfully. I remotely installed 3 apps, with absolutely no problems. It recognized all the programs already on my phone.
I'm on Nebula 1.0.7, so stock is not required
I'm on ViperROM 4.0.2c and am able to use it. The thing I like the most about it is that it has kept track of all the applications I've installed (which isn't the case when I flash my ROM). So I can reinstall the APPs throught he market. (yes the market keeps track of my purchased APPs, just not the rest of them via the phone.
It also makes installing the same APPs to multiple devices at the same time via the same Google account very easy.
I am on Quantom 2.7 and the website just doesn't see my phone at all. Wonderful.
are you guys just going to market.google.com??? I can't get to it from my computers.

Google the term "market"
Thank you.
And for anyone else reading this, the correct website is:
https://market.android.com/
I'm running Nebula and when I go to the web market, all of my apps that I've downloaded are there, but it won't recognize my epic. Anyone else found a fix for this?
Works on the current nightly of Cyanogenmod 6.
Shows the list of currently installed applications, and the instant I told it to add Angry Birds (not that I'm interested) my phone began the download.
Awesome.
Combined with the way all apps reinstall after a new flash, I should not need to use the crappy on-phone application again!

Well, I just flashed to a new ROM and am now once again having trouble with the sync.
My market.android.com list shows like 20+ applications, but Bonsai ROM downloaded 2 and acts like it is done. I'm going to have to go down the list and search for each of them now. Or maybe I'll try the same from market.android.com
EDIT it's working, but the list of installed apps on the phone's Market won't even update...
Time to say "goodbye" to appbrain. Finally.
Oh nice
Thanks for the tip. I was able to use my computer to browse the market and it was able to see my installed apps ok. I am running stock DI18.
Darkk
Says no phone associated with my account even though I can see my market history. I'll chalk it up ito being a new service and not fully up and running yet.
Hello all,
The FULL Market is now online! Just open up your browser on your tablet and go to https://market.android.com/ (don't forget the s in https) Then sign in and you'll be able to download and install any app from the Market! (I have done several searches for apps that usually don't show up and they were all there!)
While on a PC, you can't download to the PC, but you can browse the Market on the PC and click install and some how Google finds your tablet and installs it.
Tesla
Edit: I just noticed it does a compatibility check, so maybe not all apps. I believe you have to have the Market installed on your tablet.
yeah its pretty good. although it has a rather striking simularity to Appbrain. I hope that google bought into their product and integrated it rather than pretty much rip it off.

But what is nice about Google's is that almost all the apps are downloadable.. even the ones that don't show up in the Market app. With AppBrain and AndroidZoom, if the app didn't show up in the Market app, then it wouldn't download.
It looks the same as the Google Market App.. I don't think they ripped it off.. unless the new Market was based on AppBrain??
Where does it download the apk to? I tried installing an app via the web Market in Dolphin HD. The downloading symbol appeared in the notification bar for a few seconds, then disappeared, and that's it. Nothing else, and can't find a downloaded apk anywhere... It did a compatibility check before downloading, and my archos came up in the list of devices I could install to...
@fisha21
After you have found downloading symbol then open Market app. It will install app for you.

D'OH! And thank you
has anyone else noticed that the google market website has suddenly stopped listing their archos even though it listed it previously?
It still shows my HTC Desire when I go to my market account in the top right and click on the settings tab, but no longer lists my archos 101? (I am logged into the archos using the same google account).
it used to list it but with some details missing from certain fields.
I have gappsforarchos v4 Market installed, and the archos is rooted with archangel v2, (I have tried 'market enabler' but it made no difference.)
I dont know if its relevant, but I re-did the market fix (where you delete the market cache etc) the other day, maybe this effected it?
My Archos 101 showed up last night and I just checked now and its still there.
Don't know what you did!

It showed after the market did an automatic update. But when I fixed the market again that was needed after the upgrade it disappeared again.
I managed to get it back when I did an uninstall upgraded version in the apps management.
Anyway I hate the market website it can't even show what apps are installed it will show apps that where installed even when they where removed afterwards. I rather use appsbrain that site seems to be stable and you can manage your own devices/lists.
My online market was able to see my A70 up until this morning when i installed the new firmware. I did the market fix 5 times, but it doesn't seem to be working. And now I can't even install from the web market.
Anyone know a solution. Is there a new market fix that works better?
Umm I know it's recommended to actually go to the new market site (including the "s") but is there a .apk for it instead?? I'm just asking if anyone knows of a new .apk for it cuz for me it would be simpler.
Side question: Is this "new" Full Google Market site the newly updated gApps V5 or is it more like a new V6? I have aApps V5 and all of a sudden I noticed a few days ago the whole look of the Google Market when I click on my Market Apps icon was a little different. The area near the search bar at the top changed from all green and white-to all gray with a different font. This new look of the Google Marketplace is what I see when I click on my Market App icon, not the website.
I bought a motorola xoom wifi and even on a factory reset, the google books app has a dead icon on the main screen and clicking on it says that the application is not installed.
It also dosen't show up on the apps list but if i go to manage applications, it's there but showing 0 kb in size.
Anyone has the apk so that i can reinstall it?
I think it's available in the market if you live in the US.
If your not however, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863124
In the event the link I posted doesnt show up because I am not allowed to post them, google search "google books .apk xoom" The 6th link down will bring you right to it, it's actually a link to a post from these forums.
You need to be signed into your google account before you attempt to launch it.
I had the same problem after I rooted. You need to sync your google account and reboot a few times, then it starts working.

same exact thing happened to me...
I have discovered how to fix it.
The problem is because wherever you are, your google account is not getting 'google books' synced down to it. Probably because you're outside of the US but also happens to people in the US at times.
To get this to happen, download and install the MOBILE version of Google Books. This will prompt you that it's going to overwrite the version on your xoom. Select yes and it will.
Once done, launch the app. This will create the 'Google Book's syncing to your account under accounts and sync. Let it sync finish. Now uninstall the app, by clicking on uninstall updates under manage applications for the google books app. This will prompt you saying that you now have reverted back to the factory install of google books. Now launch google books again and you will be able to. And it will be the xoom version of the google books along with all the books you have in your account. You just need to make them offline readable. This can be done outside of the States too.
Meh, I still can't install Google books nor Earth for that matter. The above instructions do not work for me.
I'm not from the US, and when I tried to go to the mobile Google Books app, it only says that item cannot be found...
mobile version....?
Ok I finally got it working.
I had to install Google Books on my Nexus One (with Market Enabler), create a backup apk using Astro File Manager, sideload that apk to my Xoom, install it and start it up to activate syncing to my Google Account. Then I go to Manage Applications, uninstall the updates to the Google Books so that it will reset to factory application.
Finally I can use Google Books as it was intended on the Xoom.
This method should work for those outside US and who can't install the mobile version through m.google.com/books
Thats exactly what i said above.

No... the mobile version of Google books does not work for me at all. I can't download the mobile version with my Xoom because I'm not from the States. It will just say that my device is not compatible or there's no such application found.
I had to use my rooted smartphone to install the non-tablet Google Books by emulating a US carrier with Market Enabler. Then I have to back up the apk and sideload it to my Xoom before your instructions worked.
So no it is not exactly what you described
The mobile version's apk is downloadable all over the internet. Just a simple google search will net you the apk.

Hmm... Didn't work for me. I'm in Canada. Downloaded mobile apk from other xda thread. Let it complete sync. But under Manage Applications there was not an option to "uninstall updates". Just "uninstall" which it does, then Google Books is gone, Sync is gone.
Ideas? Not a fan of the mobile version and would like to try to find a way to load xoom version.

Is google books still listed in your application list? At least does it say 0.00kb?
If there isn't, you might have uninstalled it for good and a factory reset may bring you at least back to square one, though I'm not sure about that.
And what version of google books mobile was the apk that you downloaded? I believe you have to install the latest version of mobile google books in order to uninstall updates. If that apk you downloaded is an early version of google books, maybe it won't have the option to "downgrade" to an earlier version.
I think you can check the latest version number in the web browser market. Should be 1.2.2. That was the version of Google books I installed over the stock Xoom one. It allowed me to uninstall updates.
Another way out is to ask someone to extract the xoom's google books apk and send it to you. My xoom's at home so I can't do anything. Also I'm not sure if astro file manager can back it up, especially if it turns out to be a private app. Then you need to find someone with a rooted xoom and root explorer.

It's not there in applications. I can't see it in android market from Canada so don't know the latest version available. I had loaded 1.0.16. I will look for an apk of 1.2.2. That's the latest version you can see?

Hmm I meant looking at the android market on your pc browser, not on your android device. I thought anyone can at least search for apps on the web browser?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.apps.books&feature=search_result
But anyway, yeah version 1.2.2 was the apk I sideloaded to my xoom. Try that and see if it works with the methods explained in the previous posts. If there's still no option to uninstall updates, you may have to do a factory reset to at least get back the original non-working google books.
Edit: Wait, this only works if your Xoom is a US one and at least had the google books preinstalled on startup and is not working. I'm not sure if that's the case with your Xoom. Especially if your Xoom is bought in Canada, they may have already removed google books. But I'm not sure.
Everything worked for me. Now got the tablet version of books with the 3 free books installed. Just can't download any new books yet as I'm in the UK.
Anyone know if this is possible yet?

Thank you buddy. Quite ingenious.
The "uninstall updates" option isn't there for my Xoom, probably because it's the UK wifi only version and it didn't have Books installed by default...
I now have the mobile version installed, any ideas how I can get this to be the tablet ver?
I'm using CM7 off of an SD card, and I thought I'd load the B&N reader app and consider buying a book to read. Since CM7 doesn't provide the app, I went to the AppBrain market and it shows me a "Nook for Android by B&N", and then the procedure is to click the 'market' button to try to download it, but it says 'the requested item could not be found'. If I search for it on the CM7 provided 'market', the app doesn't exist.
How do I get this app?
I installed it by searching for "nook" in the Market app. No muss, no fuss. Now, I did that before the recent update, but it certainly shows as installed when I search now.
First, instead of appbrain, try going to market.android.com. That's the official web based market run by Google.
Second, the Nook app was in the Market app on CM7.0.3 on my NC. I installed it with no problems. The app also shows up in the Market app on my Nexus One running CM7.0.3. You might want to try clearing the data on your Market.app, or some other remedies to get it working as it should.
Third - "Since CM7 doesn't provide the app..." I don't know why they would provide the app. It's not what they do.

Up until now I have always used the appbrain app or the market app in the NC. I did once look at the web interface, but since I thought the intent was to 'use the device to manage the device', I never paid too much attention to their corresponding web sites; however, I did once look at the appbrain web site.

Thanks, but a 'it works for me', doesn't help me any.
But your comment above about the web site, did give me a though of something to try.
Although the NC kept telling me the 'app could not be found', the market.android.com web site said something different. It said 'This item cannot be installed in your device's country'.
Considering B&N will sell books in the US and Canada, I am surprised that the app can't be installed in Canada. Maybe somebody, somewhere didn't get the memo about Canada being a friendly country! But at least that explains it, even though the other apps didn't give me a useful clue/explanation. Now the question is how to get around it. B&N were more than happy to accept my credit card # in their original app on the stock NC. But that was B&N, and this may be a Google/Android restriction, who knows?

I didn't mean any slight to the CM7 project or team... it was just the observation part of my sentence.
On the other hand, CM7 does come with phone, camera and other apps, that I can't use, and I can't (obviously/easily) uninstall.
I was going to mention, Nook app doesn't seem to like other countries other than US.
Here is the app ripped right from my device. http://www.mediafire.com/?ysjyohkj4onm1az
Edit: Forgot to mention, install via adb or move onto your SD and install through a file manager.
I use HotspotShield to fake an US ip address and that's it no problems buying stuff from B&N.
Thanks for the .apk file, that worked. Now for my new observations:
1/ I have to click many times before the 'go to shop'/'go to library' reacts.
2/ I've only ever been able to see the 'about' screen once, and the other
button on the top right of the screen 'do not seem to work'.
... but it _is_ progress!

I looked at that service. It seems to be a MS Windows or Mac only product.
So that doesn't help on the Nook, or my other Linux machines - unless HotspotShield
supports standard VPN'ish software without the need for their magic code.
(if so, how?)
How would I be able to trick the market into thinking I am based in the us? There are a few apps like Google books and even nook is not available for my country. With the phone I can slip in a t mobile similar and problem solved.
I have tried using market enabler but that is a no go.
For me my account is American, was created in the US and is backed by an American card. I don't "miss" any software that users outside the US do. Unfortunately, I live in Mexico. So while I have full access to the US market, it shows me prices in pesos, which pisses me off to no end. Not a huge problem, but annoying.
So to note: My A500 was bought in the US, my market account was made inside the US, with all US information, here in Mexico it works just like when I'm in the US only the prices are in pesos. Dunno how hard it would be to setup an account from outside to US to look like it was inside. Use a VPN while you set it up I suppose, look up some random business address and phone number if it asks for such. As far as buying a tablet in the US, well that'd be harder.

Thanks for replying. So basically I will need to reset from a fresh tablet using a bocom?
Seems like google does not give much love fire non us fans.will try to look for a vpn to find out.
Here's what I did:
Kill the market
Clear the cache
Remove my gmail account
Turn off all the location settings
Turn on airplane mode
Turn on wifi
Run market enabler
Restart market
re-enter my gmail account
Now the market shows me the books tab, and apps allow in-app purchases. None of these were possible before. Hope this helps.

Here's how I always do mine:
a. Root your device and install Market Enabler
b. Remove all synced accounts in your Tablet
c. Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Market and Clear the data of the Market App
d. Run Market Enabler and choose T-Mobile or Verizon
e. Open the Market App and it should prompt you to login a registered Google Account
h. Once logged in, Market should recognize your A500 as a T-Mobile/Verizon A500
Note that you need to do this every time you reboot your tablet. Additionally, the trick also works for the browser version of the Market (it should list your device as T-Mobile/Verizon registered).
Thanks Will try that, because when i tried it with just the vpn, it did not work. Quick question, have either of you upgraded to the leaked 3.1? because that seems to be "china/taiwan" rom.
I got this working on 3.0.1 and the leaked 3.1 China ROM.
I'm on Picasso custom rom right now but haven't tried it yet as I just changed ROM a few hours ago.
You also mentioned using VPN - no need for that.
Thanks. Got it working, but still cannot see nook, google books, earth and some others.could you see if you can see google books on yours?
The Books link shows up in my Market but does not contain any books on sale.
As for Google Earth, I was able to see and download it before (and Blogger app too). Same thing for other paid games like Dungeon Defenders and Pinball HD that did not show up in my region before. Not sure about Nook as I never looked for it but it should be there.
You can check the browser Market App to see if your Acer A500 is registered to Verizon/T-Mobile. It it's not, it's possible that the hack was not properly executed (items for sale in $ but you are not able to see region-locked apps).
Did you also turn off the location settings (no need to go on airplane mode) as advised by ill_dawg?
I can see the books tab, but not the books app. I am going to try to reboot, clear cache and start from there, turning off all location services and try.
Ok rebooted into recovery cleared cache and also dalvic cache for good measure. Start up, take away all sync apps, clear data on market app. launch market app and can see the google books tab, but still not the app. On the desktop browser, i can see the app, but cannot actually download to device, because it is still not verizon or tmobile. Have you actually got a 3G tablet? Thanks for help Panda, much appreciated.
Omg just Google for Market access.apk; if the device is rooted, u won't experience any problem setting a default location and backing data up.

i read in the moto section some time ago, it was enough to replace the build.prop with Verizon build.prop of xoom, but it didnt work.
so i used a VPN carrier (overplay.net) and instantly i got books and videos access so its for sure testing your origin by ip address.
and it worked with a A500 (PRIMEE!/asus) profile too.. as i tested videos (i just looked at its trailers)
but for me VPN is the only way it works, and if i disconnect vpn, i loose my web videos. i did not check if the books access also got lost as well, but the books remained on my bookshelf.
