[Q] Reset before selling a rooted Aria - HTC Aria General

Hi,
I am planning to sell my rooted Aria (FR008) and wonder if doing a factory reset through settings is sufficient to clean up the data without losing the root.
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Yes. Will wipe your SIM card too though...why not just take everything off your SD card, put a fresh copy of FR008 on there, wipe data, cache, dalvik in clockwork, flash fresh the fresh copy?

While we are on the topic does it also lock the phone? Do I have to get an unlock code with att again?

did you get your unlock code from att? how did you manage that?
no it will not lock the phone...or should not. once it's unlocked it should be perm unlocked. if it does re-lock it you can just reuse the same unlock code.

I told them I am going out of the country and they gave me. Thanks for the reply though.

Nope it doesn't but there is a much simpler way and it lets you keep your warranty.
I see you are with Rogers. You can try talking to them sometimes they give you the unlock code for free if you are a good customer.
If that doesn't work you will need to buy the unlock code from somewhere. Here is an example http://www.cellphoneunlock.net/ I believe they are $8
after they email you the code you must enter into your Xperia play. Here is a video of how it is done.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDFfP2Q7YXg
And there you have it a sim-unlocked xperia play with warranty and this unlock will never go away not even if you flash the phone.
Note: If your main reason to sim-unlock is to open the bootloader then I'm sorry this won't be able to do that.

Entering in unlock code for ROOTED Mytouch 4g

Hey you guys, I have a rooted mytouch 4g and I emailed tmobile about sending me the unlock code for my phone so I can switch over to at&t in a few weeks. I have the code and I even have a non tmobile sim card, a tracphnne sim card to be exact. I put it in and I do not get the option to enter in my unlock code.It just goes like normal. I'm sure its because of my awesome phone being unlocked, but is there another way for me to put my code in? Thanks.

I don't think your phone is compatible with Tracphone SIM cards.
not all SIMs are created equally.
I know.
I know, I really want to use it for At&t but I dont have a At&t sim card right now, so I want to use the tracphone to get it unlocked first.

My phone was already rooted when I bought it from my friend. I'm running virtious htc sense 3.0 on it right now, and its awesome.

Find out how it was rooted because if the gfree method was used it is already unlocked. Or even just go through the gfree process

How do I use and download the gfree? Is it a rom or a program?

Ehh its more of a file. You can find it right here. Read and follow the instructions to the t. Don't worry about the temp root part because you already have root.

Its going to work. You might get a little lost in the steps, as I did, but it works flawlessly & my opinion is the best way to root.

Unlocking...always wipes the data?

As stated, does unlocking the bootloader always wipe the device?
It did on mine. All unlocking guides have shown it to do that.

Wow, that blows. Well, I guess I am going stock for a while XD
Haven't got my nexus 7 yet, but I'm wondering why people say to do an OTA update before rooting. That's pointless if unlocking wipes the OS, as that's the prerequisite to root a device isn't it.

I don't understand this mentality. Just do it so that it's less of a pain down the line.

Doesn't wipe the OS, it wipes data (but not /sdcard); it's like a factory reset.

I unlocked the bootloader, relocked, and unlocked in a space of time.
After unlocking for the second time, EVERYTHING was gone, but my build.prop wasn't touched and I still had 4.1.1 (that I updated over OTA)

[Q] General Questions

Hello,
I have a NEVER ROOTED Motorola Droid Razr M XT709
In the end all I want to do is use my SD card to store app stuff, just the data would be acceptable ( entire thing would be best ). I am figuring I need to root my device to be able to do this but before I did I wanted to make sure I was capable of rooting it and UNrooting it as well. Here is a link to a screen shot from my phone with it's basic specs displayed under Settings > About Phone : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16564468/Screenshot_2013-11-23-09-44-00.png
So...
Can I move apps or app data to SD without rooting? If so, how? If not...
Can I root? If so, what would be the safest method?
Can I unroot? If so, what is the safest method?
Thanks!
-Reiz

Unfortunately, I can't open your links at work, but I did see your first pic last night and on that version, you would have been able to root. If you took the latest update, then you can't root it.

So essentially, even if I did a 'hard reset' , I am still boned?

I would assume that you're talking about a factory reset? Yes, you are boned, it will only revert back to the latest OTA, which you just did.

[Q] Unlock Code Question

I have a locked Galaxy S4 from AT&T but is rooted and flashed to custom rom. I did get the unlock code and it didnt. My question is do I need to be on the official stock rom first before using the code?
Usually you do. I'd flash back to stock, then try the code. Once you're unlocked it'll stay unlocked and you can flash a custom rom

I just flashed it back to stock rom using Odin 3.07. The code still isn't working. The email does say that I should wait 24 hours upon receipt. Could that be the issue?
Try this:

I have purchased and used many unlock codes, some require funny steps for one reason or another. Who knows why. Should be as easy as typing in the code when asked but sometimes u need to jump through hoops..

Crazily enough, this did the trick. I'm going to try to root it again and see if it sticks.
