Hello Dear,
everytime when the htc HD mini freezes, I must put battery off!
so isn't the phone had got a button to shutdown? (I mean Force Shutting down)
I know I simply press down the top button to shutdown, only when the phone freezes the shutdown message won't show?
Thanks
take out the battery ?
There is no other possibility than taking off the cover, remove the battery, replace it and reboot. There is no "shutdown" button like on a PC.
I don't think there is any phone that has this...

Yeah indeed, my very old HP hx2190 has a reset hole too And indeed, sometimes that's very handy
Dear Madmat & Others,
Many Phones has Buttons to Force Shutdown,
Like iPhone; Press the Top Button with Home Screen Button seconds; Will Shutdown Force.
But this htc HD mini seems doesn't have something to Force Shutdown,
So maybe not available? Right?

It is available. If you hold the power button it will ask you if you want to shut the device down. Just the same thing as the iPhone does. But we were talking about a situation where the device completely blocks. And then, just like the iPhone, the device does not longer respond if you hold the power button. If you have an Iphone, try it out
Madmat, I don't mean that... I mean if your htc HD mini Freezes; the message won't show or something else,
and what will you do if the your phone doesn't show the shutdown message?

Sometimes, the phone partially freezes. In some situations, you'll know it's about to freeze. Because more and more functions gets locked up.
Install "ResetMe" for these situations. It's a free app from Marketplace.
Use ResetMe and/or long-press power button. Half of the time, one of the two, or both, can work.
In situations of full freeze, the only remedy is to take out battery.
Your mini is offen freezes? I think the rom have big problem.
So you can flash the rom with a stable build.

Yes and that's the END of the story. I know what you meant, an accessible RESET BUTTON... but NOT available to the HTC HD mini, they forgot to install because they are always sleeping and until now when you contact their support their answers are sleeping.

Hi, I would like to reset Vista but I simply cannot!
I tried pressing F3 button on boot, I see the screen that says to press "Y" to confirm but when I press Y, it reboots by itselft without starting the process.
I have also tried from Vista Control Center, in Advanced Option, I click on the button to reset Windows (not SnapVue), the Shift reboot and Vista boots again...
Am I so stupid?!
Yes, I am so stupid that I have not red carefully what the Shift say:
"Do you want to TERMINATE the process?"
Obviously if I press Yes it exits!
Sorry for the silly post!
It is not so silly, I have this before. I took it to htc care center to fix!

I still get into this situation. That one is really catchy. I pressed Y instead of N few times even on the other day where I was messing around the system to break BT, SD Locks. I was unsuccessful in breaking the BT and SD locks though.
Thanks

!!
Take the battery out. Pop it back in. Hold down both volume up and down and tap the power button (don't hold the power button down though). You should then boot into a menu where you can do a hard reset.
On a similar note though I used to look after some old Windows CE devices that would do the same thing if you clicked too far away from the cross, never tried it on my HD though!

When you hard reset the device, everything is wiped on device apart from OS, so you need to align screen at start to be able to use device once automatic setup has completed.
There is another option as Throys latest roms, R6 & R7 has a complete automatic setup and there is no align screen. You could always try one of these

Is it possiable I can have softrest (cap) shortcut button ( instead of Powering off / press softrest button under cover / remove battery) on my t-mobile htc hd2 without installing non-official rom?
yes you have to instal one of this cab file.
search for xdaShutdown or Touch X reset

You can also install HButton (along with the xdaShutdown cab mentioned here), so you can map this app to a long press of the power button.

I dont understand this need for "reboot software" whats so hard about holding the power off button for a few seconds then hitting the power off button that appears on screen, then pressing the power button again once the phone is off?
If your phone is so fubar that you have to resort to pulling off the battery cover and poking the reset button, then a piece of software to reboot it likely wont be of any use.
I do remember trying out such software long ago on my MDA, and it always seemed the software just instantly rebooted, rather than doing a graceful shutdown. What are the chances of file system corruption by repeatedly doing instant reboots rather than graceful shutdowns? especially dealing with the larger file storage spaces we have now

d0ug,
I was thinking the same exact thing. Maybe out of some freak of nature, I got the only perfect T-mobile USA HD2 but, I have never had to do any type of forced hard reset or forced soft reset. I rarely shut it off, mostly running 24/7
Thank you,
Monnie

Ive not had any issues with mine either, other than the well documented SMS bug that starts slowing the phone down around 200sms messages or so.
Hopefully there will be a fix from HTC for that, in the meantime i just use PIMBackup weekly to backup all my SMS messages, and have created a "blank" message backup file that i use to restore over the message DB wiping out all the SMS.
For normal usage the phone has been great, ive only had to reset a few times after screwing around with some more advanced settings, nothing that would have been a problem for sometime just normally using the phone.
I've only poked my reset button under the battery cover once, mainly to see that it worked lol, basically the day i got the phone, going over all the functions of the phone to make sure everything worked.
HI I am new to android and HTC and last night i have put Android NAND using MGLDR. was working fine but for some reason when i want to lock the screen and i press the power button it shows more option menu instead to lock the screen. Before when i press once the pwer button it locks but if i hold the button it shows more options menu. Now i have to press twice the button to lock screen and when i wqant to unlock it will do the same it will show up the menu. I tryed to reinstal it again from my SD card using ClockWOrk, MGLDR, puting him back to factory setting but still soemtimes it does that. Now waht i want to do is to do task29 and to again everything. I have found on this site an exe by doloop for task29 but i get error cant connect to phone check USB connection. Run as admin on my win7 64bit and disabled driver signature but stillsame error. How to fix the unction of this button?
Android isntaled:
TyphooN_CM7_v3.6.8-MAGLDR.zip
I'm pretty sure that's an issue with your END button, rather than with Android.
Has your screen been unresponsive sometimes?

Are you sure? I'm 99% sure it isn't anything to do with the ROM, it sounds like your end key is getting stuck when you press it. I used TyphooN for ages (in fact, if I'm not mistaken up to that very version) and it never failed me, so I don't see how it wouldn't work for you. Try flashing back to WinMo and seeing if the same applies there.
I believe you're having the famous issue of HD2 with the 'end' button. Try another rom first to be sure, if that's the case, start using "Button Savior" or similar app...

Is it dificult to open it at home and see if is there something in it?Is there some maybe guide how to open it or maybe i take to some servis shop and hope for the best?

Hi guys,
I got some really annoying problems with my HD2 and can't find a solution for it.
My power button on the HD2 isn't working as intended.
If I power off the phone, I can boot it sometimes up using the power button, sometimes it doesn't respond to pressing it at all.
If I connect the phone to the computer or notebook it instantly powers up on it's own. same goes for the charger.
The strange thing is .. if the phone starts on its own (by being connected to the charger or computer) the power button is working flawlessly afterwards. Sometimes the button is working as intended, but suddenly stops working while trying to end a call or whatever.
I've currently installed Android on it .. I don't know if it's hardware or software related .... but it really drives me up the wall.
Maybe some of you are able to help me out
Best regards

Probably your END CALL/Power button is slowly dying(metaphorically speaking).
Being on Android(probably on Magldr) it's normal for your phone to start/boot up everytime is off and you plug it in(USB or charger).
IMO you should replace your hardware buttons flex or just leave it this way and avoid to use it.
Replacing it is not an easy job, I wouldn't recommend it to DIY unles you have a relevant experience on stuff like this or a very native skilled&lucky person!
Good luck!
thanks for the response.
I can't change the hardware buttons 'coz I already replaced the display and digitizer.
If I have to open the HD2 again the digitizer will separate from the display ....
too bad seems I have to bear with it
It's still hard to believe the power button is dying 'coz after the phone is automatically turned on by being plugged to a computer or the charger the button is working flawlessly.
and there are only a few seconds between it.
seems the phone has a problem recognizing the power on command if it's turned off

possible but still possible button board ...
Maybe worth trying other kernels & roms to rule out firmware issues ...
I'm trying a different battery now.
searched the internet and found someone with similar problems.
he fixed it by replacing the battery.
