It really is SO easy to get one! First thing's first, you must have your phone chevron unlocked. Then chat or call any microsoft representative. And the SECRET to this is to act like you really have no idea what they're saying! Lol tell them you got it as a gift, no receipt. You have no idea what an IMEI is, and you barely know the name of the phone (i told them mine was "an htc hd or somethin like that) Give them the main information like name, email, number and stuff like that. Then if they ask for details like IMEI, reciept, or anything else tell them you really don't know what that is and if they don't help you out, you will not hesitate at all to return the phone and buy a simple android that will not bother you with that b.s activation! Lol. Good luck to all of you looking for a code. If you REALLY want an IMEI, contact me or other members and we'll be able to help it's really easy to get a hd7 one.

so what happens if i lose my wizard and i didnt have IIWPO on it. i have my IMEI. is there any way of tracking it down or not???
What is IIWPO?
Unless you set your owner information to show up on resume, setup some tracking service, or affixed your information to the housing of the device, no. There isn't a tracking system built into the HTC Wizard (or any phone to my knowledge).
Unless someone uses one of those previously mentioned methods to contact you your phone is lost. You could, of course, backtrace your steps to find it, but these are commonsense things you should be trying anyways.
Nothing anyone here can do to help you, cept maybe sell you another.
Not really, you need (AFAIK) operator level equipment to track a phone by IMEI. And frankly, given that the IMEI changer is available on this site for free, it probably won't have the same IMEI for long. Just report to your operator and buy a new one.
Sorry for the loss tho!

is there a thread used for buying and selling phones? i am looking into the Hermes now so i am in need of buying 1 of these 2 phones very soon. do i just post in the main phone topic areas because i dont see a for sale/wanted area...
thanks anyway

hey I hope the admins don't get mad at me for posting this here but I cannot find a buy/sell section either.
Here is my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1065022&postcount=3
and my ebay listing:http://cm.ebay.com/cm/ck/1065-29296...site=0&ver=LCA080805&item=200053332070&lk=URL
OK,
I could understand griping at me if I just came here saying "Hay guise! I'm too
lazy to spend any time doing research and finding out how to do this on my
ownz. Could somebody just spoonfeed me something they spent hours
learning how to do?"
If that were the case I would deserve much scorn and derision but perhaps
you might hear my explanation and perchance give me a little help.
I recently bought an HTC Vogue that was sold to the original buyer through
Sprint. I have Cricket. Since I previously had an account with Sprint I thought
I could set one up again but no, they turned me down, don't know exactly
why.
I was buying the phone to replace my Sanyo that was going off the deep end
and thought I would learn to unlock/flash the new one over to Cricket on my
own. Much time was spent joining forums, reading conflicting advice and
gnashing my teeth. Then, joy of joys, the Sanyo craters all together and I
now have no connectivity at all. To worsen matters my cell line is how I get
business, being a handyman and I many people are reluctant to hire someone
who doesn't answer their phone. So, much to my consternation, I desperately
need to get my Vogue working on the Cricket network. I have the Vogue's
ESN registered as the phone on my account now and the guy was kind
enough to provide me with the min, mdn and SID numbers when I went in
to do the changeover but that's all I gots.
I have seen too many pages of data telling me the alleged definitive way to
get not only my voice service working on Cricket, but text, SMS, web AND
GPS as well but I am reluctant to try any of them because I can ill afford to
buy another phone because I bricked this one. Nor do I want to pay someone
to do it for me when I know that given the right info, I can do it myself.
I know it is stupid to lose business because I want to flash my own phone but
surely many of you out there feel the same way.
Here's what I am asking. Can a few of you kindhearted folks point me to the
ultimate and definitive guide to getting all of my services working on the
Cricket network? I really have put in a lot of search time but all I can say for
certain is that I believe that xda Devs is the site that is my best shot.
I would be very grateful if someone could help, I have also seen evidence of
many people saying that Android is the way to go instead of WM but I have
no idea if I should just stay with Windows Mobile 6, upgrade to a newer one
or switch to Android much less if I should make a change before or after I
flash the phone to Cricket. Uggggghhh.
Please good sirs (and ladies?) thy help would be most fortuitous at this
juncture.
Thanks in advance,
Tex
Adden-dumb
It looks like I figured out that since the phone was an insurance
replacement that it has Windows Mobile 6.1 on it, that solves
one riddle for me.
I've seen very few guides to doing this..and most of them from rather untrustworthy sites.
Basically because I believe the same information can be used to CLONE a cell phone, stealing someone else's service.
I'm afraid that's not of much help to you, but I looked into it once before, and was told basically unless the provider was willing to program it for me, it would be very difficult to do.
You have to change the ESN to the one of the Sanyo... which is illegal afaik
I have been using the xda developers website for YEARS ( from after getting my first T-Mobile SDA ) and theres always been at least ONE superhero to develop a cool method or utility to unlock these phones...
...WELL! the HD2 is here and now I need a another champion to step forward and crack this thing because I own a T-mobile HD2 purchased off ebay and I cant unlock this thing no matter how hard I try. Every website I have used has FAILED and I cannot believe that these websites know something about this phone that the XDA developer gurus do not.
This website has NEVER let me down before....and I know that unlockers dont appear overnight, but it would just be reassuring to know at least one of these people is on the case.
If you are reading this and thinking "why dont you do it?" alas, I lack the sheer awesomeness necessary to develop such things.
I am reading this thinking "cant you read and/or use the search functionality?"
??
okay, was that sarcasm or what? I have not seen any such unlocker mentioned in this forum or any other.
Please provide link to thread if you know of one.
Begging for such things is not a favourite pastime of mine so if you know, please show.
If there was a better tool to do it WITHOUT generating any codes, then people wouldn't have been discussing those sites in that topic, would they be?
You'll have to keep trying with unlock websites. You'll need that code.

I read something positive about http://www.htcgate.com/. Perhaps that one helps/works.
What are you trying to do exactly?
Network-unlock the phone so you can use any provider with it?
Unlock the device so that you can use any ROM from any country on it?
Maybe if you were a bit clearer with your request you would have got a better answer from me. Just because you know what you are on about when you are typing a post doesn't mean anyone else does!
Okay, perhaps I wasnt clear. What I was after was a sim unlocking method/utility to aid myself and others in similar circumstances of having purchased a locked HD2 only to be suffering a nightmare unlocking it.
I started this thread in really light-hearted fashion and now it doesnt appear to be going that way. Anyways my personal nightmare has ended as I emailed the hell out of the guy that sold this to me and he emailed me the unlock code so job done.
I still think its worthwhile for someone to develop a method/tool for the job and wish any others suffering this hell the best of luck.
BTW: if your locked HD2 is one from T-Mobile save your money and avoid the following sites:
"unlock codes 2u" FAIL
"HTCGate" FAIL
"leo.unlock-now" FAIL
"Unlock now" FAIL
"Unlock-it-now" FAIL
I have the same problem with hd2 locked on o2, no one is able to remove simlock. At least o2 itself provides unlock codes if you ask them, but I'm still waiting for the code....
I'm proud to have an Android on my HTC HD2 thanks to all of You developers !!

trust me, its going on ebay.com in america also.
And the local Craigslist in my area which is around $40 people charge to load Android!! I posted on my local Craigslist the link for people to load Android onto their phone for free and it was flagged for removal. I had one of these jokers come at me and say that people are dumb and need his service in order to load Android to their HD2. He compared it to people who don't know how to use a computer that would pay for someone to help them use the computer. Maybe that is correct from 10-15 years ago but I would think if someone purchased an HD2, they are pretty tech savvy to begin with and could easily follow what is found here. Well, I could be wrong?
Not really, there are people who just dont understand it. I've loaded Android on several peoples phone myself, although I didnt charge them for it. It's really the same thing as people charging to unlock / jailbreak iphones.

Post from Craigslist Miami:
Don't sell your HTC HD2. Turn your htc hd2 into an EVO (just about) and put android on your phone give it a new look. call or text 954-736-7890 954-736-7890 email [email protected]
Use it on SIMPLE MOBILE (like me) and pay only 60 bux unlimited everything. I know what i'm doing. I was the first person to start putting android on the HTC HD2. If you already have android on HD2 and its giving issues I'll upgrade your version for only $10

This guy is just another assuming and self proclaimed god...
This German guy is not the only one... I searched for accesories on ebay for my HD2 and i found several sellers that sells Android builds for 9.99 and they have a lot of buyers! Specifically the one of them sold about 30 builds! This is madness....Just report them on eBay and they will delete their profiles!
What we need to do is make Ebay accounts and post products but instead of charging for directions and links just put directions and links in the description. Thats what I did on Las Vegas Craigslist for Android on HD2.

And why should we post these Android products... It's not our builds! You mean for free; do you??
I suppose if people want to spend the money to have someone else do it for them, then that's their deal.
Now claiming that it's their build or they did it first is shady, I agree, but they're providing a service to people who want said service.
Nothing too wrong about that. People could fix their PC's but they either don't understand, or don't want to do it so they take it to someone else. Is that wrong too?
Thats all well and good, but none of the devs are getting any credit for their hard work. Its easy to steal someone elses work but its not so easy to make it yourself.
Also I don't believe these people would offer much in the way of support.
Then to claim you are the 1st person doing this....
These people are the reason sites like this may be potentially shut down... The companies who supply these OS's are surely monitoring these sites, hell they probably use some of the ideas.. However, this is done at no profit to the devs.. When people start charging money thats when the legal teams get unleashed. Because core coding may have been developed and used from here then this site, and others like it, become targets....
Selling android builds on Ebay is wrong. Doing it on Craigslist for $$ is wrong unless they give devs credit/sling them a donation out of that $$ they make. Claiming that they are "the 1st one to put android on..." probably is referring to that person being the first person to start putting android on the HD2 for $$ on craigslist, not necessarily meaning the first person to ever do it.

I agree on pretzdothack that some people don't know how to install it but.. come on.. They have an HD2 with their usb cable and instructions on the internet (xda, google search and youtube)....It's a drag and drop thing; nothing special really!
They must be really retards to go to ebay to install Android OS on the sdcard and pay for it! Sorry for the expression but that makes my mad!

the germany-boy isnt selling android-builds, he sells an tutorial as .pdf how to do it for people who are too lazy to google or for those who dont understand english^^
If people are stupid enough to pay for something they can get for free online if they took the effort to perform a 15 second search then that's their luck out.
However, claiming credit for other people's work is another matter entirely and he deserves ridiculing for that.
So theres this website (you can find the name and or link in mdj's cyanogen mod forum) that is selling a service that you send them your hd2 and they will put the cyanogen mod on your phone.....I called and asked to speak with a supervisor cause I thought it was wrong....its like 99 dollars but when I called he claimed it was 79 dollars....anyway he said hes not doing anything wrong because its open source etc etc. I said your wrong for taking someone elses work and selling it, then he said "im not selling it im just selling a service to rich people to put the mod on there phone"....then we argued some more and he said hes bringing xda a bunch of buisness by selling this service yada yada yada...he also said he has been a member here at xda for years....then I replied oh really then tell me your handle and he refused and then I said you know this is gonna piss people off and he said no it wont blah blah blah and then he had to go, and hung up.....Im probably being overly protective over something thats not mine but I was sure the xda peeps would think it was wrong.....just wanted to vent this to every one.
That was discussed many times before. He does nothing wrong because he is not selling the Rom. He sells the service to install a Rom for people who aren't able to do this or don't want to invest much time in this.

These people are NOT selling roms, they are selling their "time" to provide a service of rom installation.
There are some people out there who can not or do not want to go through the steps of installing a rom and would rather pay somebody to do it correctly and safely for them.
This is EXACTLY the same as if you take your car to a mechanic and ask them to fit a new *insert part name here*.
This is also EXACTLY the same as if you had taken your xbox 360 console to a modder and asked them to flash a hacked firmware to your dvd drive. ( I can do this myself but if I couldnt I would want somebody else to do it for me)
This is EXACTLY the same as if you had a virus on your computer and you asked somebody in a repair shop to clean it for you.

Maybe be 3 is applicable if and only if the technician is using his own skills and free, open source softs and not pirated ones.
Maybe for item 2 if you will still use games you bought legally.
And totally not applicable for 1. Why? You are the one who bought the part, unless it was stolen.
Yes, it is not illegal, but it shouldn't be abused also.

Instead of actually addressing my points and challenging them all you could think to do was reply with a childish cliché or trying to act like you are been patronising when its simply that you cant think of anything to say.
You asked for a discussion and you have got one, you have aired your opinion and I have aired mine, If you cant take a opposite opinion of yours then that is your problem and you probably shouldn't create discussion topics.
You are calling yourself an "adult" yet you use the word "dooshbagery", Grow up and talk like and adult if you expect to be seen like one.

@ MODS
Ok mods, changed my mind, close/delete thread if you wish, this guy obviously cant have an adult conversation.
I agree, he's not selling the ROM. He's obviously selling his time. The guy is taking full responsability (at least he should) for whatever happens to the device.
Just don't point this thread to jagpoag. Insulting is the only way of reasoning he knows.
You can build a full mail/web/whatever server you want using Linux. That doesn't mean you cannot charge for installing and configuring it.

Exactly.
This guy obviously doesn't like it when somebody has a different or better point them him.
Its simple logic really, He would be selling a ROM if he took the money and only supplied teh ROM files, he isn't. Hes taking money and going through flashing/config process instead of the customer having to, he selling a service.
If you dont know how to fix/change something on your car you got to a mechanic (or friend). Yes we may find it easy to learn this stuff (rom flashing) but others will not find it as easy. car repair/change and phone fix/flash same concept.
i guess.. people shouldn't do it.. because the guides r pretty easy that my 12 year old cousin can do it in like 1 hour. And if people don't have that much time and can pay so much just to get android, whatever installed.. I bet they can trash hd2 and buy d OS specific phone.. Just not morally correct even though it's not illegal.. Maybe it can drive the chef of the rom to think about even providing it to the general public in the first place.. just my 2 cents don't get hypered people..

Well you see tahts the point, some people will find it easy and some people will find it either hard or too daunting to try, or simply do not know how or know of xda etc.
Its the same as modding a xbox 360, its a pice of piss to flash its dvd drive but many many people do not know how or want to try so instead choose to pay somebody with more experiece.
lol, Im starting to sound like an agent for this guy
I just cant see how this guy or others are doing anything wrong, unless they overcharge ofcousre but if they was to charge something reasonable like £15 or something then that would be fine imo.
I cant see how you view this is immoral.
Exactly, simple logic. I don't think there's any way to bring down your argument so... don't expect a discussion
Believe me I've read hundreds of pages of people complaining because someone was charging for installing a map, rom, etc. and they just can't make a solid point about it.
Remember the Linux example, it's one of the best I ever heard off. You take free software and charge for your time when installing it. You can even make money installing paid software like Microsoft Exchange, Windows, etc. You're not stealing from M$. You're just offering a service for someone that cannot do it by his own.

Morally incorrect? Why? You think it's easy because you're used to doing it. You have experience while others don't.
Some people don't have the experience and don't even want to know about it. They just want the job done and that's how they work. It's called to "delegate tasks".
We cannot do everything by ourselves. That's why we study and learn different things in life and we search people to make the work we cannot do by ourselves.
He isn't really selling his work..Useless thread

That is a very good and precise point.
I myself know sweet FA about linux, what I do know you could write on a back of a stamp. If I wanted/needed a specific linux setup/configuration I would ask/pay somebody else to do it simply because I wanted it doing correctly without any hassle.
Some people didnt have a good enough education/or simply dont learn easily to be able to comprehend simple logic or concepts like this so like the OP they resort to childish responses like he did. I really did "lol" because after my point earlier I seriously did know that he would answer in that way, I could just tell, its typical of people to resort to that level of maturity when they cant think of a proper answer/challenge.
