Okay, so after corrupting my SD card over 12 times and replacing my phone twice I think I have found the answer.
I strongly believe that the reason we get faced with the SD corruption (The ones where it is fixable by a software reset at the service center) on our i9000m's is because we repart while flashing.
The 512,513,903 pit files might be okay on international models, but I suspect that the Canadian version uses some other partition structure.
So to keep it short here is a successful method to install froyo on the i9000m. I have flashed to froyo using this method and have been using it for over 20 days now without issues.
Make sure you get a brand new phone before flashing. If you have reparted using odin this might be useless.
Installation Steps:
1. Make sure your phone is rooted (You can root via OCLF in the market)
2. Download Rom manager and install Clockworkmod recovery (Instructions can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734166&highlight=clockwork)
3. Install Doc's froyo rom from here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703)
Once flashed it should work fine. When the phone starts make sure you first see the I9000M screen and then it switches to the I9000 screen and then the Galaxy and then into Froyo.
I have not tried just flashing froyo using ODIN without re-parting (Maintaining factory partitions). In theory it should work, if anyone tries it let us know.
P.S. I use Doc's rom as it allows to flash via clockwork. I am not endorsing this in any way.
I have personally flashed dozens of things through Odin with 512 and 803 pit, as well as tons of things through zip's like Doc's, with absolutely no problems on my Bell I9000M 16GB.
**Knocks on wood**
Do you lose your 850 Band doing it by this method. Please check by Activating WiFi while in your service menu (*#*#0011#*#*). You will see when you switch over from WiFi to 3G you Band should drop down to 850 from 1900.

Can you give more information on what happened.
Original ROM?
Froyo Version tried to flash to?
Which SGS ei (gt-i9000m or gt-i9000)?
I've re-partitioned in ODIN by flashing back to JH2 (2.1), then use Doc's ROM to 2.2. What should I do to enable 850Mhz? I already added WCDMA850 in *#2263#

1. UGJH2
2. I believe the one that it died on was XXJPM, after about 3 days. I've flashed XXJPH and XXJPK before that on that phone as well for a few days each, no pit/re-partition every time I flashed
3. GT-I9000M

I am an Indian & have an Asian 16GB SGS. Every time & have this urge to FLASH, I just pick the pit file, nothing else, check re-partition, let the phone reboot, remove battery, re-insert, go back to download & re flash.
Me n 2 friends bought it together from same bell store 3 months ago.
Friend 1 :
On his 2nd sgs.
Got it replaced because internal sd got corrupted.
He was on jpk w/ repartition done
Friend 2 :
Still on his original sgs.
Stock + voodoo (aka never used odin)
Me:
On my 3rd sgs (if u count replacing the pcb as a new phone)
First one was stock + voodoo (stock was flashed using repartition through odin)
Second one was jpk w/ repartition
Third one im running with stock + voodoo (aka following friend #2's approach)
Hope tht helps :\

Most of the time what I do is use Odin 1.3 Use an 803 PIT re-partition not checked at the same time select the PDA Phone and CSC since your 900MHz you should not have a problem using the GT-i9000-CSC-Multi-XXXXX.tar.md5 for CSC and the MODEM_i9000XXJPK.tar.md5 for Phone and your PDA will be JPM/JP6 or whatever rom you wish to install

Funny thing is I'm on 3rd SGS now too my first one I went crazy on Flashing everything as I had no problems with anything I did to it until JPM/JP6 I bought another SGS while I sent in the other one as a replacement for mine and as a gift for my wife after I get my SGS back from bell. The one I got for my wife died within 6 hours of flashing ROM's I use to have the 850MHz band on my original SGS throughout the whole flashing process but I couldn't repeat it with my wife's SGS. Now since I've buggered hers once already I'm now scared to do anything with this one. Although I still have the DOA warranty on it. I'm I crazy??? Probably more confused as I spent a lot of time reading on these forums and don't have an answer to what went wrong...
I have the Captivate and my girl has the I9000M. I am definitely not new in flashing, just find it very interesting that after flashing Doc's V6, the Bell APN still remained and the boot screen still has I9000M.
Did Bell do something to the phone to prevent people modding it?
So far, my gf didn't complain about corrupting SD. She got hers like 3 weeks ago and the battery production date is Oct 2010. The phone even has 3 button download mode working out of the box.
Okay so with all the excitement and multiple upgrades of docs rom I made a boo boo.
I flashed a wrong kernel (BLN) using CWM and the phone would not start and could not get into CWM. So I did a flash to UGJG8 and then restored to dock.
Things would work fine for a few hours and then I would get errors, my internal SD card was intact, however my internal available memory was 0. I repeated this process with the same issue, finally got fedup and reparteed with the 512 and it all worked for a few hours and then internal and external all said unavailable.
Now when I boot It goes to the 19000 screen and then shuts off.
However, when I load UGJG8 with my external SD it boots to android and none of the SD cards are available, but internal available says 1.85.
I am trying different things as I want to try and figure out whats going on, any suggestions?
P.S. I strongly believe it has something to do with odin and/or pit files, i.e. software fix.

Aren't those 2 the "Internal Sdcard Corruption" indicators ?
Boot into recovery. What do u see ?
Yup, I know it is the internal SD card corruption.
Ohh well.... back to the bell store
P.S. I want to highlight that all of this started once I used odin, till then I was using froyo for over a month without any issues. now it might be a coincidence but I dont think so!
I won't use odin if I don't have to. Il use cw instead

I've flashed JPK for Phone, CSD and the other one. 512 Pit.
I did it on 2 i9000M and never had problem.
I used mine exclusively with 3G Data only though. No Calling plan attached.
I used DJ05 but I just got back to DI01 because of 3G network availability. but once I got back in DI01 my fascinate doesn't detect 3G. the web only works on wifi. when I turn off the wifi button it does nothing. even 1g or 2g siganal didn't come up just signal bar shows on. I have no idea to fix it. does anybody can tell me what I need to do now?? without wifi zone it work like feature phone to me..
How exactly did you revert back? I'm assuming you used ODIN? If so, did you choose the Phone button or the PDA button to flash the image? If you used the Phone button, then your modem is dead, and cannot be recovered, so you will have to find some way to replace your phone.
Dial *228 and press 1 to activate/reprogram your phone. I had the same thing happen to me. It's just not activated anymore.

I just did it, and now I can see the triangle icon(roaming) same spot as 3G icon.
but still 3G icon doesn't come up, not available using internet without wifi.
how should I do... If I upgrade to froyo It will be fixed automatically?? haha

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, there is no known way to recover from modem failure caused by flashing with the Phone button in ODIN. I'm sorry, but it looks you will either have to buy a new phone, or find a way to convince Verizon to give you a warranty replacement.

+1 to that. Hope you have insurance, that is your only hope now. As an FYI, the DI01 package already contained the modem. It is called an AIO package for a reason.
There is no way to recover your phone if you used the Phone option instead of the PDA option in Odin.

I bought this phone from ebay and my carrier is pagepluscellular. so I don't have insurance and no supported carrier.. so sad....

Do phone calls work? Does anything via the 1X network work? You could try reflashing the DI01modem.tar via PDA, but that would be the only possible fix besides a new phone.

oh... If I failed to reflash via pda, nothing happen after then? I don't have to worry about fail via pda right??
Correct. You can't really hurt anything by flashing via turn PDA button.

Gunnermike, from here and Android central flashed in Odin using the phone button by mistake. He re-flashed the modem using PDA and reported that everything worked as it should afterwords.
At this point, you don't have anything to loose.
I made the same mistake (select phone instead of PDA) when I tried to install voodoo lagfix. After reading this thread I downloaded the modem.tar file for my version of Froyo and the PIT file. I entered the download mode and through odin I updated the phone modem using the modem.tar file and pit file. It worked like a charm. Now everything is OK. Be sure to remove the SIM card before update.
Thanks a lot for the ideea.
P.S. I used PHONE not PDA when I fixed my modem. And do not forget the PIT file.
I have a US sprint L720 I update to the stock 4.3 then wanted to teher so I put cyanogen 10.2 and yes I made sure it was for my phone spr. on it and it would boot up one time then after it would just sit at the Samsung screen only after I do a fresh flash would it boot back up I finaly fix that problem but no my phone has no sound at all sms txt messages work just fine but when ever I try to make a call or call my phone it will start vibrating telling me I am getting a call but the screen go blank I cant see who is calling or to even answer it and then when I hang up on the phone I was calling my cell on the phone gives me an error "phone isn't responding do you want to close it?" "with options wait or OK" music does not work at all it keeps giving me an error that "unfortunately, DSP manager has stopped" there is no sound on the phone or calls that worked before I fixed the problem of being stuck on the Samsung.

Let's pinpoint the issue. What recovery did you initially use? did you by chance play with mf9 firmware files?

well I have been useing TWRP v2.5.0.0 odin used to work before I updated OTA to 4.3 ever after odin gives me an error while tring to flash the mf9 back on the phone. no I did not mess with the files I had to flash mf9 images using odin moble which seemed to work but ever since that my WiFi does not work. it will only work on custom kernals and FW. but both have a problem with calling and any sound. I know the cell raido works becuse TXT work just fine. I tryed reflashing the raido images but no luck. I tryed all sorts of Roms but no luck one rom called "sacs" v8.0 but that one has problems with the TXT messages even. I cleeared every partion with TWRP hopeing this was just a bad or corupt information on the device. with no luck as well

hum I had to use network signal app because calls do not work on my cell phone at all it forecloses the dialer every time I press the send button but it tells me my bootloader is L720VPUEMJA
Raidio/serial L720VPUEMJA / 9225b7d2
so yeah they match this is so odd.
I consider my self an advanced user I am no coder but I know my stuff but I can't understand why this is not working. the radio works because I can send and receive txt and I can use the 3g internet on it but going stock I lose my wifi and the full phone is unstable in stock even txt crashes and then all of the sudden the sound completely stopped working on any FW I install even stock and even a TWRP backup from my phone before I upgraded to 4.3 works but with the same problems no sound no wifi and calling do not work at all..... so it begs the question what is the corporate here ? is it possible the "patch" Samsung did to the radio driver or possibly the new evil boot loader some how. the phone is running CFW 4.3.1 right now
also I just ordered another s4 so this s4 that is not working right I am willing to do anything too now > I am going take everything off of it let TWRP format all the parts of the phone. is there a way to to use odin to copy everything from the mf9 image file but not the boot loader in since it can not downgraded as of yet?

Check whether EFS folder is backed up by flashed rom in sdcard. If your lucky you can use backup file to get imei number back. Few posts also suggest that flashing back stock rom also get back imei. I am not sure of it. Better back up efs to your pc.

still need help here.
So a few days ago i downloaded a rom for my Telus SGH-i337m which gave me apps and the features from the S5. I installed it and all that, but then it failed. So i tried to use my back up but it was corrupted as well. So I thought i can go online and find a stock image, i found many, but then I think i installed the image for a GT505 by accident. This gave me my software back but then i could't use my wifi or my data. So i found a proper SGH-i337m rom and installed it, my wifi came back but my data didnt. I thought it was because of the wrong modem, so i installed a few different modems and nothing worked. But today when i downloaded a different modem and installed it using odin mobile pro. It was installing and it rebooted, but then it got stuck there with the ODIN logo. I removed the battery and turned the phone on but not it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue..... please connect to kies". I tried connecting to kies but couldn't.
if someone could provide me with fully stock firmware and modem with easy instructions i would appreciate it, I'm so cheesed of my phone not working now
Did you have a custom recovery installed? Have you tried to go into recovery? Vol up home power. Make sure Samsung drivers are installed on your computer. Save a rom on your computer that you know works and place it on the sd card of your phone. Install rom. Try a stock rom version. Maple leaf by ib4stid would be a good one.
I just reread. Sorry I don't think my suggestion will help. Good luck.

what do you mean? you need to create an account to be able to download. hope u got it sorted or by now
If you can give smoe more information about if you have a custom recovery installed (which one), can you connect to PC and move files to the external sd card, which modem you have installed and does the phone boot at all?
The procedure should be, root... download rom, ensuring it is for the i337m and not the i337 (2 different models) install custom recovery (I like TWRP (shouold be version 2.6 or lower.. some suggest 2.5 see mapleleaf rom OP..... others use Philz recovery... I don't have any experience with that).... install rom... let it boot up and run for a few minutes... then if you dont have the proper modem install the NC1 modem found on this forum...(I never flash the nonhalos file) I like to use Odin PC rather than moblie Odin... make sure you take off auto reboot as the flash takes longer than Odin allows before rebooting... You may need to enter your APN settings in settings... wrong APN's will result in no data...
As for roms, I would start with Maple leaf and see what you think... If you need to go back to stock, sam mobile roms are all Bell so you will see some Bell software (not to worry) and you will need to enter your APN's... then you can install a custom rom... again can't stress enough to choose one that is for i337m
The other thing you want to watch is bootloader versions.... once you go up in versions.. you can't go back...
Thanks for the help! I don't know how that I forgot the fact that I have a TelusS4 with a Wind sim in it, and cuz I formatted the phone and crashed the software, the bandwidths went to the stock Telus ones. But then I used a software and now I can use my wind sim on my phone!
Btw what are the best roms out there that look completely stock but provide tons of new features?

Stock roms, I use Mapleleaf, I have also tried Google Play edition by Danvh but went back to maple leaf. I take it you are now back to stock and rooted, before you flash a rom, make sure you do a backup of your current stock rom so you have a easy way to go back. Make sure you back up your imei files also... might come in handy some day... I did both a full backup plus a seperate back up og just the iemi file... like i said before.... if you entend on going backwards from 4.4.3 or 4.4.2 to anything else do not change your bootloader... before you flash a rom make sure it will not change your bootloader... if it is going to i suggest you unzip the rom, remove the bootloader file and rezip then flash... it is up to you though... there is no going backwards on bootloaders......
