help - Streak 5 General

my streak has a major problem but dont know what to do it says random errors and after i reset it it erases all info like if it goes factory reset ive tried diffrent steves roms but same thing. i tried going back to stock but read instructions on how to downgrade but only got as far as 2.1 and after that streak never recognize the other step and i also tried to do the qdl tool but i keep getting fails. please help i have white streak dont know if its the actual streak but how can i go back to stock so i can atleast ship it to dell to fix. thanks

Ok give.a.little more description like what version are u on when u had the issues, are u getting fc's? What methods u used, etc. u might not have to downgrade or send to dell.

I restored it with qdl tool but im still getting an error but this time it had an error with the settings and then I turned off the streak and it didnt want to load it would get stuck on the dell logo it wotks on average of about two days before I get an error message that makes it not load after the fcs.

Streak Not Booting After Flash... Please Help!

I just rooted my streak as normal and now it will not boot.
When I turn it on, it just displays ''dell'' but stays there forever.
I flashed it before and it was fine but now it is stuck.
Any way I can fix this?
i am no expert, but you'll have to give a lot more information than that
16.?
2.1 ?
versions
how did you flash?
how did you root?
to "fix" your Streak, reverting back to the Update.pkg should get you back working

2.1
Build 6267
How can I flash it when there is no superboot 6267 version yet?
Basically What happened is I upgraded my streak from 1.6 to 2.1
I downloaded root explorer but it would NOT work as my streak was not rooted.
I then rooted my streak using superboot but it was for the old version 3883.
The phone did not boot after this. I then tried superboot for build 4399, same thing the streak gets stuck on the dell logo.
I then looked for build 6267 which is what I have but it does not exist.
I wanted to root my streak with the new 2.1 version but it failed and ever since I'm stuck with the dell logo.
I know I can simply reinstall 2.1 but I will have to reinstall all my apps and set my phone up again.
Is there any way I can recover or somehow go back to the build of 6267 WITHOUT losing anything or reinstalling?
The last thing I want to do is reinstall 2.1 all over again...
I just reinstalled 2.1
Works fine now only I need to put all my apps back on as well as configure/setup all the settings...
I am noob in phone flashing. but after goin thru all sources online.. I tried flashing my Streak 5.
I tried rooting with "SuperOneClick2.2", but it was not detecting phone model or so.. So I tried Superboot... after android interface drivers installation.. phone was decteced in FASTBOOT mode and message in phone showed root installed.
After that, my phone is continually flashing the buttons & showing DELL's white logo on the black background.
All procedures were followed to the dot. However, as suggested in the post & elsewhere, I "factory-resetted" the device. Not worked. I then reverted back to the Android 2.2 "Update.pkg" I had in the sd card. Update was done as usual. But the phone just didn't get ON.
That was yesterday. Well today, all of a sudden, when I tried to on the phone, it started!!!!
But new problem, the phone is not rooted. Checked out with the Android emulator. Tried the whole procedure. Went through the same steps. Problem repeated. Solved. Again & again.. the phone refuses to be ROOTED!!!
What could be the problem?
First of all dont bump a year old thread,
secondly superboot will brick the streak as it's designed for a different rom,
thirdly use the guides on xda/wiki to reinstall with a update.pkg,
fourthly there's a guide halfway down the page currently in the dev section on how to root correctly
Use superone click
One click rooting methods are not infallible. The recommended way to root is to manually install StreakMod Recovery then Superuser.zip.

[Q] Streak failing to boot past Dell logo.

I am sorry if this is covered it other topics but after trying many different recovery images i guess im just over the issue
Story so far:
Baseband was GAUSB1A111100-EU
stock 1.6 streak
stupidly, i followed streaksmart.com/2010/11/how-to-get-official-android-22-update-on-dell-streak.html#more
This is where the fun began
tryed android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/314313/how-to-get-your-streak-back-to-factory-condition/#entry1355296
Using the following
~the the suggested pkg(that didnt have a pkg file in it!?)
~the mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A110100 renamed to Upgrade.pkg
When i run the upgrade, i do notice i have a different baseband (GAUSB1a110421). The Upgrade gives a FOTA model name mismatch.
i attempted to use Streak_104_4399_21.pkg renamed to update.pkg but the streak is now not reading the MicroSD card, it advises me to insert a card!
i loaded Stock recovery from android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/316229/19-aug-streak-2-1-downloads-how-tos-rom-superboot-recovery/
Every recovery image i have used loads but im back to square one.
After reading the sticky i kind of expect this to be either trolled or deleted but i have to take that risk
yay for a new error!!!
assert failed: write_raw_image ("/tmp/boot.img". "boot")
error in /sdcard/update.pkg.dec
(status 7)
if you can get it into fastboot then you can flash the files from modaco again. in the right order and all 3 of them. maby some corruption took place on your sd-card.
android.modaco.com search function didnt help,
only 6267 builds i could find are O2 branded.

i was referring to 2.2 android build which is 00 baseband so unbranded.
http://android.modaco.com/content/d...how-to-install-official-dell-2-2-upgrade-pkg/
sadly it now fails to load the recovery, in fastboot, it starts writing then i get 'flash write fail -i on the handset screen
tried hardreset prior to flashing ?

I am sorry if this has been asked before, but if you didn't have a clue about what you were about to do (which you obviously didn't) why didn't you just leave it alone
yes, it boots to the dell screen, the two lower buttons flash. then it resets and repeats.

as long as it talks to fastboot its not bricked , so it should be revivable somehow.
this kinda things happen often with new devices and it can be very usefull to help others with the same problems out of there misery.
I have the exact same issue! My Streak wont boot past the Dell logo
I was trying to upgrade to 2.2 (official) using the method posted by Steve over at Modaco but when it came to rebooting it just sits in the Dell logo
Ive tried doing it again and again and again...
Ive also tried a factory reset but this hasnt resolved it
Ive got a EU unlocked Streak bought directly from Dell
Baseband 00
Build 4399
As I can boot into fastboot im hoping theres still a chance I can recover it but need some guidance or a little push in the right direction

I always start from the 4399 o2 which is baseband 21.
Then go to 6267 baseband 00 snd then to the offiicial 2.2 package. Have you tried this route. Also when restoring the 4399 the script I use erases the boot system etc before flashing the recovery for the 4399...
Good luck. Dont give up ;-)

you can download modaco's official 2.2 upgrade rom files and push these with fastboot. this way avoiding hussle with different basebands/OS's

Does ANYONE know of a fix for this yet????

I have a new streak on the 6601 build and am following the steps to move to 4399, 8105, and hopefully get to here. However, i have hit a major roadblock. When I try to flash to 4399 everything goes smoothly until the progress bar gets half way and then tells me my "Software is up to date: Rebooting in 30 seconds"
I am not new to flashing and was putting a new rom on the captivate every other day, so I'd like to think I'm good at following directions and reading the forums for help. I have found several other threads from the past months with the same problem, but no one ever posted a fix!!! I've tried every combo I can thing of, flashed different recovery's, tried skipping 4399 all together, tried using clockwork and changed the .pkg to a zip file. I've never had such a hard time getting past one thing while flashing. I'm hoping I'm just missing something really obvious and it's an easy fix, but can someone please help me!! I have read and re-read the directions and can't find anything I am missing
have you tried the official 2.2 romfiles at modaco ? flash from a pc .

Yeah I was going to but several posts say they are stuck at dell logo when trying to go straight to 2.2 from 1.6. I appreciate the idea though! I still may try it in a bit. Any other thoughts?

you also need a modified loader (like clockwork) and root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598 to be able to flash rom files

[Q] Hello-Help with Streak after OTA 2.2 update

Hello-first time post for me.
I have a Dell Streak.I finally on Tuesday got the official Over The Air update notification for the 2.2 Froyo. That evening over wi-fi I downloaded the update and run it using the nero back up option.
After finishing,I had 2.2 Froyo running, which I was pleased about after having 1.6 for so long.
WELL....after switching the phone off,Wednesday morning the phone will no longer switch ON,It keeps looping ON and OFF back to the Dell logo.
It will not respond to no buttons or a Master reset with the volume and power buttons.
Any help will be appreciated.
Can anyone help
I have tried everything.Connecting to computer, looking at the sim card when in my usb stick, leaving battery out overnight, charging etc etc.
I can't believe a Dell OTA update has bricked my phone.
do some searches for recovering bricked dell streak.
im pretty sure you can fix it..
you could probably reflash the basband and fix it..
Thanks for the reply, but no joy.I am a complete newbie and novice to this so I don't want to try something I think may work and do further problems to the phone and void the warranty if I have to send it back(for the second time).
Can anyone give me a link that would allow me to follow step by step instructions to recover my phone from being stuck on the Dell logo after I done the official Dell 2.2 Froyo upgrade,if a recovery procedure is available that is.
As I stated I am completely new to this and would like to learn.

Need a little help restoring/Flashing my streak

Hey guys,
Im not new to flashing roms etc,
but this is the first time i have so much trouble with it.
I read the streak how to PDF and followed the instructions on installing superboot.
when i installed superboot, the phone reset itself, and when it turns on, the dell logo shows up and the "home and menu" led starts flashing on and off and the restarts again.
I tried following the instuctions on how to restore the phone, but none of it worked. i specifically followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805112
and when i try to flash the update.pkg, i get an error at the end about the boot bin or something like that.
anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
I heard something about a QDL tool i could use...not sure what that is and i couldnt find an exact answer searching the forums.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: found a guide on using the QDL tool, im going to try it now wish me luck lol
If u got yours from best buy u need to use QDL. Read carefully and just do as it says
thanks for the tip, it is indeed the best buy exclusive white one....running qdl as we speak
ok everything is good now!
i just need to figure out why when i try to install dj steves rom it gives me
"failed to verify signature"
ok so now i am having a hard time rooting the phone.
I am using the android 2.2 provided from QDL and am trying to root via universal androot which isnt working for me.
any other ways i can root?
note: im using a best buy dell streak
If you are updating to his 1.6 then you dont need to root it.
It it pre-rooted
thanks, I figured it out.
It turns out that the "how to pdf" (while an amazing guide) linked me to outdated versions of the the recovery which is why it would not work.
everything is working now,
running steves 1.6 and loving life. Thanks every one for your help!!!!!
