sorry if some of these questions have already been asked and answered. unfortunantely, my computer crashed due to a manufacturing flaw so I can only access google and this forum via my epic (which can be a pain sometimes). also, since heros threads are always deleted, I cannot ask these questions there. please, any feedback and help would greatly appreciated.
okay so I reflashed backed snack 1.6 w/ ultimate after testing some of the newest froyo builds. id rather wat until I get the official ota upgrade.
after reflashing 1.6 for some reason, android market doesn't appear to be installed. where can I download the application? I even tried reflashing 1.6 over itself but that didn't work.
also, I'm using the new gingerbread youtube but I signed in and now I get a constant fc when I try to open it. how can I fix this? if I can't, where can I download an earlier version of youtube?
another question. this time about battery. using 1.6 w/ ultimate, I get fairly decent battery. only problem is, my battery stats say that my display and standby are what is killing my battery the most. nothing ever runs in the background, every so often I unlock my phone to either check the time or texts or facebook real quick, brightness is on its lowest setting, silent mode, juicedefender running correctly (battery life: x1.56), no data running in the background, drm killed, battery calibrated and battery stats wiped, and everything else possible to to save battery.
and something I'm noticing now that the phone is charging, the battery is quite hot and I'm not even using the phone. it only overheats when its charging and I've also noticed that its only hot when I use certain roms/kernels. any insight on this issue? any way to monitor and regulate temperature?
once again, any help would be appreciated!

Ill take a stab at these. Reason for you market not showing, can't say? Did you wipe 3 times before flashing bs 1.6?
Also never sign in on gingerbread youtube on 2.1 build. I don't think anyone has got that working yet. Simply clear the cache for youtube and you should be set.
Lastly, I don't know what to say about your bettery.. what do you have setcpu running at? Do you have profiles to lower your phones speed when in standby? Couldn't hurt to give it a shot.
Sorry about your computer, all my info is based on personal experience don't really have a "dev" type answer for ya. But hope some of this helps.
Goodluck!

thank you for your reply.
yes I did wipe both data, cache, and davlik 3 times. I guess I will do that now and report back.
how would I go about clearing the cache for one specific app? I know I can do that when I open up my settings and go to app development but youtube doesn't show up in that list.
setpcu is oc at 1300 and uc at 200 conservative. profiles are as follows:
charging/full - 1000 and 200 conservative
battery < 15% - 800 and 400 conservative
screen off - 600 and 400 conservative
yeah, brand new computer too. all of a sudden it couldn't recognize the hard drive. and yes, most of my info is based on personal experience and creeping on forums.
edit: wiped everything 3 times and reflashed. market till not appear.

For youtube I just open it up without a data connection and step through the process of signing out only enabling data when needed.
If you're missing market then you need to flash back stock with odin then start fresh. Baked doesn't remove market at all. If anything it's the fastest responding market I've used.
Heat from the battery is usually caused by programs requesting cycles or data. Just restart the phone before bed after your initial battery calibration.

as I stated, I have no computer at the moment. so using odin to go back to stock is out of the question as of now. hopefully there's got to be another way without using odin. if not then I suppose I'm stuck in this predicament until I get my computer back from geek squad. and yes, I've never had a problem with heroes work before. but for some reason, this is happening.
and as I've stated before, no programs or data run in the background on my phone. after initial calibration I rebooted it. and after every boot, I toggle airplane mode on and then off. ill continue to moniter battery temps and see if the problem persists.

Sorry bout that, I did read over that you hadn't had a computer. I overlooked it though. It just sounds like you might have somehow of gotten a corrupt install somehow.
Maybe you can try reinstalling 1.6 over top of itself. I don't really see anything wrong with that, but as stated before though. Make sure you wipe cache and dalvichk 3 times each before you do so.

After the froyo update my phone has slow 30 sec delay moments. doing anything from opening the camera to opening the Internet. sometime pausing when scrolling Internet or phone menus. that kind of thing.
should i perform a reset?
I looked in the phone and it has an option:
factory data reset?
and some options backup my data
automatic restore
I did a titanium backup but there are a lot of backed up things, but i suppose i could work my way through.
My questions:
do i need to perform some sort of reset?
What kind (hard soft there seems to be a few options )
and how do i do it?
What do the backup my data /autobackup options in settings do?
Many Thanks
wipe data, wipe cache
then restore only user apps
and maybe user data
do not restore system apps/data
if it still give you problem after a while
repeat and only restore user apps, with no user data
it might be the user data that has gone corrupted
a way to find out if that is the case is by reading the logs....
any DEV guru will know what to look for (not me)
I was told i had DB corruption in another occassion when we were debugging a new app, and after killing everything and only restoring apps, the phone was stable and the random bugs were gone after that
Cheers for the extra info.
How do wipe the data and cache again?
No need to wipe?
Hi,
May be worth a try, i recently had the same issue on my stock galaxy s running froyo, after trying many things i read on a website about the galaxy s not being great on apps2sd, well as i have about 60 apps, i decided to move them all back to the phone and straight away it was fixed!!!! it used to freeze when i woke the phone up for about 20 to 30 seconds and while browsing and now its back to normal, if you have apps on your micro sd card, you can check this issue by installing os monitor, when it freezes open the os monitor and it is kswap0d that is using 70% to 98% of cpu causing the lag, don't know why this happens but it was very frustrating!!!!! hope this helps you anyway.

Boot into Recovery Mode
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S_Series#Recovery_Mode
Then select the option to wipe data, also wipe cache
Cheers for the extra info. I had a look at your wiki yesterday. I liked the links to the stress testing videos. I guess I can't use a craft knife as a stylus .
Just few minutes ago. I installed OCLF (one click lag fix) from the android market and it seems to sort everything out. And quadrant benchmark test.
Is oclf safe?
People are saying that the way the galaxy s stores data causes problems, that oclf fixes.
Hello everyone, as the title says I'd like to test out the ART runtime and maybe switch back to Dalvik if I need it. Since I've never done it would be nice to gather some feedbacks from you guys. Also I don't know if doing all of this switch will leave some junk in the memory. Thank you!
P.S. I asked in the worng section, sorry. Someone could move the post in the Q&A?
I went back and forth between the two on a few kitkat phones (inc. G GPE) with no issues really.
there was an issue with some version of Flipboard which would bootloop your device if on ART, think its solved by now, not sure though.
Better stay with dalvik for now we will switch to art once we get L.
Tried both . Could not find any noticeable difference.
when I switched to art, i noticed it takes more ram, about 100MB more or less. although, I never noticed any performance change, positive nor negative, only slightly longer battery. i think i still have problems with google hangout using as default SMS app but not sure if it is because of ART, it might be. as I said, almost no difference except of slightly longer battery and not working hanouts as SMS[which I didn't like in the first place]
I'm using a few apps and according to this site: http://www.androidruntime.com/list none of them are reported to not work on ART. Thanks to anyone for the fast replies. I'll give you feebacks when I give it a shot.
I'm using ART on my phone as default.
The only problem I ever had with ART, was the incompatibility with "Facebook Beta" apart from that, in my experience my phone is more responsive on ART than it is with Dalvik.
MeanDroid
In ART i could not move apps to SD. Now back to Dalvik it is possible again.
No Differance
i was running on Dalvik on 4.4.2 and once i updated to 4.4.4 , i reset my Phone and changed to ART, i did not find any reason till now to switch back to Dalvik, although i did not find any noticeable Speed improvement or Better battery life. no force closes except 2-3 times with Subway surfers in this 2 months.
I swiched to ART as soon as i got 4.4, didnt fine any difference
Hey, I'm also using ART, no problems, just I find the battery draining fast. 10 minutes disconnected from charger and battery went down 2%... hope to see any difference in battery when L arrives
i use art when i got an upgdate to 4.4.4 i noticed that all my apps when i open it fast... but sadly i return to dalvik again because everytime i update some application like facebook, gmail.. etc some other apps most of the time my phone restart everytime i make an update it will restart that's why i return to dalvik again

Hello,
You're right.
According "The SDCard Bible for Moto G 4G/LTE" (https://forums.motorola.com/posts/7e59cc7baf), "Move to SD card" doesn't work on ART.
And ART uses a lot more space than Dalvik.
So, unfortunately ART is not a good deal for Moto G 4G/LTE (XT1040), in my opinion.

I haven't found one application I use that wasn't compatible with ART. IMO, there is a noticeable difference between using ART over dalvik. This holds true on the Nexus 5 as well. The Moto G is very smooth with 4.4 Y2FS, and ART enabled. I was quite unhappy with my Moto G running stock with dalvik enabled, but I'm very happy with my current set up. It's nearly as fast as my Nexus 5.
So I don't spend much time in the Nexus 7 forum since I rarely use this device. Thus, I apologize in advance if this is brought up a lot.
I'll admit I haven't done much searching on the issue because the hits I found never seemed to apply to my situation.
No matter what ROM I flash, I always end up with massive, massive lag.
Seriously horrible lag.
Like, it can take 30 seconds just to open an app.
CPU Spy indicates I'm hitting all core frequencies so I'm not sure there is a hardware problem, but I haven't ruled it out either.
My flash procedure with TWRP is to wipe EVERYTHING. Data, system, cache, dalvik, etc.
One time I even wiped internal and then transferred the ROM over using ADB.
Then I'll flash the ROM and set everything up.
Tried different ROM's, different versions of Android and different GAPPs.
Any suggestions from the collective?
Hi there. There is a thread for the Solution of this known problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...arrotmod-speed-2012-nexus-7-emmc-fix-t3300416
Thank you. I have actually tried that and while it helped a little, I still suffered from massive lag.
I just found that Android 7 is available from DU for this tablet.
Gonna give this a try later this afternoon.
I still have lag on DU 7.0
have you tried the carbon ROM? thats the most lag free N 7 ROM. But these are still in development initial ROM. There would be some problems here and there
As you can see by the title, my S8 has been running very slowly recently. This problem has come up recently. Cleaning the memory through the settings only seems to be a temporary fix, and I would rather not root because I don't want to trip Knox. Is there any good apps or methods I can use to really get a good cleaning on my phone and speed it up?
Uninstall apps you don't use, use the device maintenance app built into the phone, clear cache and dalvik in recovery. That's pretty much all I can say without knowing exactly what you mean when you say "my phone is running slowly"
