Help, my phone is dying even though the battery still reads 9 percent left. I am using darkstones froyo build v3 and 2.12 radio. Is there some way to reset the battery to make it go down to 0 percent ?

turn off phone. charge up to 100% and then start windows. make sure the battery reads 100% after charging (with phone off), if it reads 100% then boot android. and let it fall to around 50% (take note of exact %) turn off, boot into windows and check if % is same on windows as it is in android. if so, w00t theres your problem solved. if not, well. thats it. nothing more to do.
also. this should have been posted in darkstones thread..... NOT POSTING A NEW THREAD IN DEVELOPMENT.
and if your finger was itching that badly to make a new thread. do it in the GENERAL OR Q&A FORUM!!! NOT DEVELOPMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same problem. Are you using Hastarin's v7.7 kernel?
I wasn't getting answers on darkstones thread and I wasn't itching for posting a thread. I was itching for an answer.
Thank you for the tip, but I've already done that. Ill check again.
And no, I'm not using that kernal. Are you?

same here
my phone just died it was reading 7% when it died. using the Nexus one build 1.5 and stock kernel 10.27.
Charge to 100% (as in: turn it off and make sure it reaaally is fully charged), then remove battery stats using a root explorer (Google for where exactly this file is stored), then let your battery run out completely. Afterwards, problem should be fixed.
The hastarin kernel didn't help. Same thing happened.
And do I let the battery run out in android or winmo after deleting the battery stats file? I removed it before with terminal emulator but didn't let the battery run dead in winmo. It died at 9 in android again.

Hello everybody! I've installed all CyanogenMod (6 and 7) and every time battery drains fast!
Now i'm trying CM7 RC3 and charged to 100% at 18.15.
At 20.00 battery is 84%!
I've installed some software with 3g and Wi fI but I think is not regular.
Any ideas?
Thank you all.
Clear batt stats under recovery.
Done on 100% charge. Nothing changes. Do I wipe when charhe is 0?

With battery wipe and charging phone swtched off seems to be a little bit better. Yesterday I flashed new radio and firmware and battery goes to 29%. On phone reboot battery was 50 %! Now is 8 and am approaching to wipe battery near 0. Thank you for your comments.

Could anyone help me. I'm finding my bettery life is very short, I fully charged my phone and went straight to the market to update some apps via 3g and within 2 minutes my battery was down to 96%. I turned the phone off after that to go to bed and turned it on when I got up and it was on 91%. I am very new to flashing ROMs and flashed darky's 9.5 about 2 weeks ago. Il list my baseband and kernel below. I don't think out should run down that fast.
Firmware: 2.2.1
Baseband: I9000XXJVE
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 hardcorespeedmod k13d 500hz
Build: Darky's v9.5XWJS8
Thanks

Battery life will be unstable after flashing a new rom, give it a while
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I find my battery drains badly when on Wi-FI. Now im on Ficeto JVH gingerbread. Very good standby time with wifi and 3g switched off.
I'm on JVH since a few days, and the Battery life is awesome! Before my battery was dead after max. 14h, more often after about 12h.
Now my phone is already running 29hours and still have 39% battery
phone usage as usual, when at home connected to wifi, else manually set to 2g, if needed switching to 3g. k9-Mail set to Imap-Idle, syncing only google-calendar/ contacts and facebook/twitter widget from LauncherPro Plus (every hour or if needed manually)
Il keep using it as normal for the next couple of days and see if it improves.
If it doesn't, how do I change my modem to a JVH?

Here`s some SS of my Jvh battery experience.
Right now, only used the phone to send 3 sms, 26h have passed and 93% of battery left.
Can I get a JVH modem without changing anything else then?

@rhadoo04
What rom/kernel do you have?
What programs for battery usage reduction?
What setup in general
Stock JVH Rom, stock kernel, no useless programs for battery reduction, everything stock, except for crt screen off animation, battery mod and root. HSDPA was on for about 2h while I played drag racing online.
My record was 7d and a few hours , with 2.2.1, using the phone only to talk. My average battery life is 3 days.
Hi guys,
Can someone share your experience regarding the version 2.3 rom for battery life ?
1) XGin v4
2) Hackdroid 85a
3) GingerCruzt 2.3.4
thanks!
I am using xgin and battery life is good

Its up to your phone activity.. at least if u keep data traffic on it will more draining.. im using gin v4 it almost a day battery life..

Depends on phone usage, if you leave the GPS and Wi-Fi connected all day, with the high screen brightness, battery will consume a lot ...
I'm using xCyanogen ShakiraV3, consumption is equal to a 2.2 ROM ...
26 hours on xgin v4 and that with wifi on all the time as I need it 4 work its a good rom I would give this rom 70/100 as I Have tested every rom out there 4 at lest 4days hope that help

Hey guys. I recently rooted my gt540 for the first time. Everything went smoothly, i installed a rom with fastboot, installed clockwork recovery and then the problems came. I installed swiftdroid 2.3.7 and i noticed the battery was draining too fast. The only thing that was on was wifi. I dont even use a sim in that phone. I left the phone at home and when i came home 5hours later it turned off. I thought this rom was to blame so I installed polish blood beta 6 ics rom. When i'm using the phone the battery is draining very fast. And also when i plug it in it is recharging too fast. It goes from 40% to 60% in a minute. Before I started installing these custom roms my phone could last weeks in standby mode with wifi on. Does anyone know the solution to this problem? Thanks in advance

You have two options, first from the android market download battery calibration, charge your phone to 100 % or when phone indicates "charged", run battery calibration and click calibrate, it will remove battery stats from the system (you need to do this every time you flash a rom, the second method, after your phone is fully charged, go into clockwork recovery (power + home), choose advance, and choose remove battery stats to remove it, restart and enjoy, hope it helps!

Our phone is not suitable for later versions on android, tha one you mentioned are roms which eat a lot of battery.......if you are lookin for battery performance switch to 2.1 roms.......

So then it's not just my phone. But it seems illogical that it drains so fast. If I used this phone as my personal device it wouldnt last me even two hours of active usage. What's the point of these ROMS if they cant get you at least through the day?

With sdsl 1 day and batt drain down to10%.
Thats the bill that you will pay by using custom roms xD

I am used to bad battery life (My optimus 3D barely lasts a day). I was just a little surprised with bad battery life on gt540 after installing a custom rom. Thanks for the answers.
