Hi, im using the default email client on the X10
Firmware version: 1.6
I want to know if there is a way of backing up the email messages?
I want to upgrade the firmware and then put the data back on. Stupidly I didn't use IMAP when setting up my profile, and I used POP3.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

There's a free app on the Market that I use called My Phone Explorer, it backs up everything to your PC. Also you can try My Back Up from the Market. I used both for redundancy...

Hi all, I've just upgraded my O2 Exec ROM, not being a PC user i assumed that activesync (using my flatmates PC) would back up everything, including MMS and SMS messages.
With over 300 SMS messages, a lot of them personal, others with important information in them, i would like to be able to recover them.
if theres any way to do this i would appreciate any help.
thanks,
brodie
Nope, you're f***ed. There's no recovery program at my knowledge.
did u make a backup? ...-if u made a full backup, just restore that.
no i think i just synced it. i saw no option for backup, only sync so assumed it would back it up.
I didnt really pay much attention to it, just checked all the boxes in active sync and synced it, upgraded the ROM and synced back again, but no sms.
Just looking now and my other email accounts havent appeared, am i missing something? does activesync not copy your other accounts either?
No, sorry to say but ActiveSync only copies you default outlook folders. No copy is made of SMS, MMS and other mailboxes that are set up. So sorry to say but I don't think you'll ever see the lost data again.
A little late for now but I'd recommend using a backup utility for future use. Which btw does not solve all of your problems as a backup made with a specific Rom can almost never be restored on an upgraded device with a different Rom. For SMS I use Jeyo Outlook Companion which creates a PST in outlook and keeps your SMS messages in sync. You can that also copy the SMS messages to any mail folder you'd like.
thanks for the replies all, looks like i shouldnt be so hasty and assume everything gets synced!
I'll look into backup utilities, have to wait until pocketmac or missingsync works with WM5!
I use jeyo sms outlook add on, for sms, and also look at personal vault, http://1800message.com/default.aspx to back up your phone I use Backup manager of sunnysoft, works like a treat.
Hi all. I just got an x01ht. Im using schapps 3.30 wm6 pro rom.
Just wondering if there is any way to use my old @k.vodafone.ne.jp mail on my new phone. I have my pc mail setup but everyone i know uses my old phone address.it'll be a pain to mail everyone and tell them to change to my pc addreess. And outlook doesnt show the message as soon as it is available.have to log on etc etc.
any help would be appreciated
One way is that you could download softbanks MMS mail program... but I dont sugest using it as it is slow, poorly thought out, clumsy to use and absoluty the worst user experiance application I have ever seen.
The other way, which i suggest is that you search the forum or internet for MMSLite.bld265 which will work with Outlook but you wont have the use of emoticons. This way is much faster and although outlook isnt the best UX program it is much better than the Softbank option.
cheers.its working now
Hey Hippo which option did you use?
Hi!
Does anyone know of a (preferably free!) PC application that will allow the archival of SMS messages?
What I would like to do is to copy all of my messages from my X1 to my PC then delete all messages from my X1 and then just restore a subset of them back onto my X1.
Any help would be appreciated!
Regards,
Alan
Hi. You can do that with the little app called SMS Import. This app allows you to export your stored textmessages into a *.xml-file. This file you can save on your PC, you can edit it with notepad and so you can also delete some messages before you re-import the messages to your phone.
Cheers

I'm using Jeyo Mobile Companion, which is standalone APP for SMS, calls,....... They also offer Jeyo Outlook Extender (not sure about the name right now) which integrates itself into Outlook.
The webpage is www.jeyo.com . Can recommend this, because it works flawlesly

It works. You have to save the file to My Documents. For some reason it can't save to SD Card (On my phone). I have also created an XSL Stylesheet for this applicaiton which will sort out all inbox messages (SmsImport stores ALL folders) and convert them to a proprietary XML format I designed myself, which allows you to store MMS as well (You have to manually add links to pictures etc though) and a further Stylesheet which will transform the XML to XHTML when you open the XML file and offer filtering functions with RegExp (Through JavaScript). Perfect way to manage everything for me.

This service is kinda weird. When I first synced my phone to the myphone service, it backed up all my data to the site (contacts, sms, pics, videos, etc.). But now I don't know how to sync from the phone to the myphone. Any changes you made from the myphone service will also change in your device as well.
Jeyo Mobile Companion works well

under programs there is a program called myphone that you use?
On my previous nokia, it came with a full software for the pc which allowed me to do a full back up of my phone, from contacts, to email account settings and set up, calendar, sms, games, the works.
HTC does not.
Is there a program that will allow this. I know our phone comes with two ways to back up emails and contacts, but not the actual account settings, or programs or even lay outs.
If I understand correctly doing an update will reset the phone back to day one.
On my old phone I was able to even place all the settings back, from ring tones to image files and back rounds.
Please advise if there is a good back up/ restore program available for our phones.
Thank you.
you can use Microsoft myphone to backup contacts and a few other things

Thank you for the response. that I know
I need something by a third party which does a better job, and will copy settings files, for example i have 4 non popular email clients runing on my phone. they are for my domains, not Gmail or yahoo or anything liek that.. and take time to set up with the servers and ports and funky passwords, so if there is an app that can copy all of it and store it, then restore after a flash, that would be great.
And im sure one exists, just need to find it.

No no, Exchange server, is microsoft's "google sync" i never used a windows phone, but i know in windows mobile i was able to backup my contacts to an xml file then used an online converter to convert it to vcd to be restored in android. And in windows mobile i used smschat to backup my inbox. Look in the windows phone store for any type of backup software and get back to me with them and i'll see what sort of conversions i can do.
