I have a friend in Brazil who just bought a Magician and he's having some problems with it. Basically, all his contacts in Outlook have the following format: +55 11 3333-3333 (country code, city code, number). When he tries to call anybody from his contact list the network doesn't complete the call because the phone is dialing the country code and the city code and the network (TIM Brasil) apparently only accepts local calls if you dial only the number, without city code or country code. He told me he tried changing the dialing rules and changing the regional settings but nothing seemed to work.
Anybody have a clue about a solution?
Thanks
M.
Same problem
I'm having the same problem. I live in Brazil and use TIM.
Plus we need to choose long distance carriers for every call.
DId you find any sollutions?
Tks a lot!
Hi,
If anyone has been supplied with the 8 digits SimLock code (from the provider) for Vodafone V1640 please post it in that topic!
We are trying to compare the relation between them in order to see
how the manufactures have calculate the algorithms.
Our acquired code starts with *2530* If someone has related code
from Vodafone starts with the above numbers please let us know; this
will be very helpful.
Thank you,
DiNoS
Does anyone know of a program that would allow me to send text messages to phones (any carrier) from an application? I have heard it mentioned in posts before, but no one has ever mentioned the applications name. This would save me the hassle of having to navigate to the carriers site in PIE.
My company has disabled text messaging because of the cost but does not care about messaging if it is free.
Merry Christmas,
Jared
You have to specify if you are prepared to pay for these text messages or not. Texts cost money. Hence you're going to pay, either in service or adverts.
Is data bandwidth an issue?

Well, I was hoping that there would be a program that simply acted as an interface with the carriers website. For example, teh program would allow me to send a text from my cingular phone through the interface on sprints website. Because I am using wifi for my data connection, there would be no charge. The only charge would be to the person recieving teh text (if applicable).
Sorry for not clarifying.
Jared
You can send an email to the phonenumber (at) thecarrieremail.com and it'll get sent to their phone as a text message for free.
For example:
T-Mobile: [email protected]
Virgin Mobile: [email protected]
Cingular: [email protected]
Sprint: [email protected]
Verizon: [email protected]
Nextel: [email protected]
You can also do a [email protected] and they will match the number to the carrier and send the text message. Pretty nice if you don't know the carrier of a particular number or don't want to have to remember the email addresses. I used to do this for Tmobile all of the time because receiving text messages was free. I'm still looking for a way to get free incoming text messages. I still use this for free outgoing text messages though.
Doc
Thank you
Thank you ver much.
Merry Christmas
nice doc_lee.. should be a sticky
Hate to bring an old topic back up, but does this method still work? Cingular has changed to AT&T now, so i figured that their e-mail address would change...
Has anyone seen the program?
There is a program that does all that for you floating around. You just type the text and the phone number, and it converts it to that e-mail you mentioned earlier. I read about it, but it was an old post in the beta, but I can't find the final. Wonder if anyone knows if ever got finished by anyone. Biggest problem with e-mail to text, when I do that, it is slow to get there.
e-mail to text list.
