[Q] different roms for different versions of HD2 - HD2 General

Hi,
As there is some difference between HD2 and T-Mobile HD2 i wanted to ask if there are also different roms or I can use all HD2 roms for either of them?
What is the benefit of bigger rom memory?
Is there a difference in roms sizes?
Thanks.

No sir like there are two different versions there are also two different ROM versions.
If you have a T-Mous device be sure that the Rom builder mention on his Rom-Thread that it is T-Mous compatible.
Also be aware to never install a x.xx.51.x Radio on T-Mous device; this will brakes your device.

Port 1 Gig ROM

Will it be possible to port the tmobile HD 2 ROM, with 1 Gig ROM over? What would be the advantages of the larger ROM?

Do you mean a replacement of the current 512 ROM NAND chip by the TMous 1012 Mb NAND chip? Can that be done for not to much money?
I'm a beginner as it comes to rom cooking, but I think that the advantage would be that one could create much larger custom roms.
If it is Rom related the n yes maybe. But I suspect the hardware is different. We already have TMOUS ROM's but they have not provided us with 1gb of ROM.

Is it LEO or TMOUS???

Had tried to search differences & compatibilities between the LEO & TMOUS, but not much luck on answers. I've noticed there's a LEO subthread and a T-Mobile US thread. I'm in the US and my HD2 is branded with T-Mobile logo on it. But when i sync my PC to my HD2, i get a sync folder on my PC with the "T-Mobile LEO" folder on my desktop.
So do i have a LEO or a TMOUS model? Reason i ask is so i can go to the right subthread to read what members posted to prevent any bricking or error while trying to run a cab or flash.
I have the following info from my HD2:
flash size...... 1024MB
data bus...... 32 bits
OS ver........ 5.2.21889
Manila......... 2.5.20121412.1
ROM ver...... 2.10.531.1 WWE
radio.......... 2.05.50.08_2
I used to have a HTC Tilt that i've flashed with HyperDragonIII rom. I'm kinda rusty and still a noob at this. So i'm trying to remember how to flash a rom for starter. Any advice or post would be GREATLY appreciated.
LEO is the codename of the HD2
TMOUS is the carrier

Then i assumed the reason why the 2 different model threads created is one for the UK and one for the US models?

One forum is for the europe/asia/australia model...the one you're posting right now (512mb ROM)
The other is specifically tailored for TMOUS (1024mb ROM)

I find better info in this one though, and I have a tmous model. You'll want to check them both... they are basicly the same, except the T-Mous has more ROM. You just have to be careful about what radio or roms you flash. Other than that, all the same apps work the same.
oh yeah, DEFINITELY will be checking here as well....... always good to have everything of both world
you have a leo branded under t mobile usa nerworks
Your is TMOUS
HD2 (Leo) with T-mobile Branding in US has 1024MB ROM
Look for the T-mobile word below your ear piece and the five button below the screen will be colored (One will be RED to disconnect the call and GREEN to pick up the call)
OFF Topic:
Just need advice. I have an EU version of the HD2. I'm seriously thinking of selling it and get a US version. Is the difference worth it?

Can i run the same roms and mods for unlocked hd2 on the tmobile hd2

I searched and did not find anything on this which suprised me but can i do all of the same stuff on the tmo version of the hd2 as i can on the original hd2? Like same roms, radios, mods dual boot and all that good stuff? Reason i am asking is because im looking to buy an hd2 but the tmo version is 100-150$ cheaper on ebay. Also if you know any good sites to buy the phone from that would be great!
Thanks

The ROM has to be TMOUS compatible, most chefs are doing this ...
As far as Radios, only x.xx.50.x radios on the TMOUS or it could brick ..
Most of the mods and such will work the same ...
The only exception I see that could cause you an issue, the TMOUS will not get AT&T 3G due to the Radio Difference ...
There is an EU model, and it escapes me now, that will ...
But the TMOUS version has 575mb of Ram and 1024 ROM where the EU version is I think like 480 and 512 ...
Hope that helps

Well there is no working android for hd2 yet, there are some test builds that run as an app, but no ROMs, same for Ubuntu ....
You should read some of the flashing tutorials in the ROMs thread may give you some insight ....

[Q] Is 1024leo (T-mobile) "backwards compatible" with 512leo (EU) roms?

The title says it all, I am in the market to buy an HD2 and plan on using NAND android and maybe even dual boot with WP7.
Currently, I have an open choice between the T-mobile and the EU version. 3G data is not a problem for me, nor is the extra 1.5mm in length.
If I do get the T-mobile version, which I am leaning towards, will it be able to run all 512's based roms or work only with those specified or custom made?
I am also fairly certain I won't be able to find an SD card more than class 4 or 6, so will the slow SD card be a major hiccup when using App2SD or Ext2SD?
Also, just to confirm; 1024leo's have their own radios... right?
Thanks a lot for answering my questions, and I did use search extensively but couldn't find anything specific to my question.
Not sure about which radio WP7 uses.
But i am running a DFT rom that is compatible for both the EU and TMOUS device.
Currently, many chef have been clear what their build is made for.if it isn't specifically stated, then most are compatible on both devices.
you can find roms that is customised for tmous only.
also, you might want to read up on flashing for the tmous device.its a bit different from the eu device.
oh yeah, jus so you know, tmous devices have a sim lock on them.if you plan to use other carriers, then u have to get it unlocked first.
Is the unlock easy? How much time will it take?
I guess the extra 512mb of ROM is worth the extra hassle... I wouldn't be missing out on anything I suppose.
Thanks
bump.......
You will be able to run only ROMS made to use for 512mb devices. And even after installing most ROMS you might run out of space on your phone to install apps. So you will have to use ROMs with APP2SD compatibility. If I would be there in your place. I would definitely get 1024 version.
Once sim unlocked, will i need to unlock it again after installing custom ROMs or nandroid for that matter...

Nope, you don't have to unlock it again....
Are you sure? Even after multiple flashes and SPL and radio flashes. I've been searching around, and people are mostly unsure about it.

Well I am mostly sure about it. Once you unlock your phone, you don't need to keep doing it again and again.
If you have a choice of a TMOUS version, go for it. double the rom size is worth all the hassle...if you got a friend living in USA and is in contract with TMOUSA, you can ask him/her to get you an unlock code from TMOUS CSR for free. or else, it's gonna be about 20-30 bucks to unlock it
guys you know the cyanogenmod 7 android 2.3 rom for HD2 is it compatible with the EU version of the HD2? I wannna try it but I don't really want to screw the phone lol
I am a noob so sry for the noob question

Best ROM there is IMO i haven't had anything else on my phone now in over 4 months and i used to flash ROM's every other week.
OK, i installed the ROM and it is great.
BUT,
How can i deactivate the hardware buttons and/or get a better Lock-Screen, if somebody calls me?
Second thing, the IMEI and the Device Info is wrong.
Does anybody has an answer on my questions?
