hi everyone, please try this method of flashing to see if it prevents SoD.it works for me on willy's rom...
1-task 29
2-flash ur stock WM 6.1 rom
3-flash ur cooked rom WITHOUT TASK 29
4-hardreset(with pressing 2 selection keys after 100%)
note
it doesn't fix the charging freeze
I tried on 826x rom,try other roms if it's working
my radio version is the stock radio(maybe it is important) it is 1.14.25.55
* I must say that it was willy's idea first,I tried & it's working so sharing it
share ur result
thanks...
I personally did an extra step, which was restoring back the stock SPL right after restoring the stock rom. Then hard spl again and then flash custom rom.
Don't know if that extra step was important but it worked, using Willi's recent testing rom, no freezes and no signal drops!
I've never task 29'd, never got an SoD with energyrom.

me neither, also didn't flash back to stock in between
you just need one hand to count the SoDs I had...
and I seem to remember a similar thread on the topic, maybe I can find it...

Well, pretty much. And whenever a new energyrom is released (every 2 - 3 weeks) I just reflash using the sd card method. It's worked out so far...

I have 2 softbank hermes phones and both of them have started freezing up on the splash screen. Both phones have hardspl and I've been using TAI's golden globe rom with no problems for a while now. But a few weeks ago my phone started getting errors and some of the program icons (like for device update, internet explorer, googlemaps, etc) were missing. If I soft reset it'll freeze on the splash screen. I had to re-flash a few times before it started working again but after a day or two the problem would come back. I tried a different rom but I still get problems with missing icons. I think it's a problem with the internal phone memory. Anybody experience the same thing? Any help would be appreciated.
Do a check for bad blocks...
Also, before reflashing a BS rom, flash a stock rom. That should stabilize the memory area.
Cheers...
Hi! Thanks for the reply! Have a few questions though (sorry noob )

Do I check my phone or microSD card for bad blocks? What software do I use?

Stock roms are shipped roms right?
Use the search function to find the tutorial on how to check for bad blocks, I have it in a txt file somewhere but not sure where it is. The bad blocks will be on your Hermes.
Stock roms are the shipped roms, yes... Best idea though, if you can find it, is to use the stripped down ATT rom found here somewhere. It has the Radio Rom stripped out so that you don't need to unnecessarily flash your radio rom .
Cheers...
My touchscreen is no longer working in either android or wm. I originally had the energy rom and since my Problem started have switched back to chucky rom and finally back to tmobile stock rom. I had radio version 2.12 installed and have tried 2.10 since. Any suggestions?

Eh thats what I am afraid of.
Seems a bit odd to me that reports of this seem to be surfacing only now? Could this not be linked to running Android?
I have the same issue btw.
I'm going to try a task29 see if that helps.

When you sent it back did you uninstall hardspl? if you did what was the exact process you used. I tried loading the nbh file from a stock rom but am not having success. Have tried a couple of different memory cards. Also, I wonder if this has been happening more with the energy roms.

you need to remove hspl before sending it back or else they may deny your claim.
solutions
1- use hspl3, run as admin, and reverse but if that doesn't work (didn't for me) do the following:
2- load bootloader manually (reboot holding volume down)
3- plug into usb
4- now run hspl3
this worked for me (thanks again to samsamuel!)
I don't know what I did but it has miraculously started working again. No idea. Really. Maybe in my failed attempts to remove hdspl I did something.

congrats! though i wouldn't be surprised if it comes back...mine was good for a day then it was over and done. funny thing was the hardware buttons worked (and i could flash different roms / etc.)
good luck!
Had the same issue week. i was running energy rom and darkstone's droid. Mine wouldn't work at all. t-mobile sent me a new one. Gave me a loaner phone. i stubbled across that my phone responded to touch and worked just fine as long as the sim card wasn't in the HD2. When re-inserted it work start freezing up again after a short period of time.
Same here touch screen does not work. I reflashed the ROM no help (energy rom) I even tried the stock rom no help removed SD card no help. Will be taking it back to TMobile after i uninstall HSPL

Maybe a bit early to set a pattern, but in all cases I have read in this thread, the not responding screen come after installing the following combination: Energy ROM + Android. Strange, just in case I will try to avoid that combination...
And I see another trend here! T-Mobile devices! Maybe there is some problem with the US HD2 Touchscreen?
Just had the same problem.
I have an unbranded HD2 running stock 1.66 WWE ROM. Had Android FroyoStone V2 running.
Have just sent my HD2 back to HTC after removing HSPL and reflashing with the 1.66 WWE ROM.
I did not install android on my device. Just the cookie ROM.
I reflashed the stock ROM and removed the HSPL and still no help. TMO told me to do a hard reset which didnt work either and they are sending me a new one 3-5 days to ship. Using a loaner phone.
I had the same problem last week. I was also running energy & android, reflash my HD2back to stock rom and got the screen replaced by HTC.
Don't know is it due to Android?
It happend to me yestorday, i dont have ganraty on my phone!!!!! dont know what to do!!! ;(
I had the same problem and I could not solve it . I dont know what to do. I allredy made un order for a new htc hd7 mobile from US.
I`ve got the Galaxy S I9000 for a week now, and I keep getting random freezes 2-3 times a day.
Tryed 4 diffrent ROMs and they all behave the same. Now I am on 2.2.1 JPY.
Could this be a hardware issue ? Is this a known issue?
Please help.
I feel like I am back to the TyTN days :-(
Thank you.
Which all roms did you try?
Plus did u try doing a hard reset? Or a repartition using odin?
Are you on an overclocked kernel?
Give more info. Cant say anything without it. The problem could be that 2.1 and 2.2 have lag probems that can be confused with freezing ( sometimes it will be unresponsive for almost 5 mins ). This is corrected in 2.2.1 JPU, JPX and JPY. But if u have an overclocked kernel it will also cause freezing. So tell me which kernel and rom ur using and u previously tried.
Hi, I am sure it is not lag, as it was frozen for more than 3 hours..
I got 2.2.1 JPY Custom Hebrew ROM, kernel: "k12n 250" according to the ROM supplier
How do I check if have an overcloked kernel?

Sure I have warranty, but I think it is a software problem (rom/kernel)

Try using repartition in odin and flash eclair 2.1
After that download darkys 9.1 and make sure u use the wipe edition. Flash it and let me know

A safer method would be to follow this post use Block 2 Odin method . Test after part one Eclair flashed .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818556
But as has been said brand new phone with problems and you messed with roms and invalidated your warranty .

Thanks, but I lost my patience and returned the phone. Back to the stable iOS!
Stable SGS OS with unstable users .

Hello
I have been roaming around for like a year or so now without registering cause i didn't had any problems following stuffs from here. But now...i have like a huge problem with my Wifi and BT. Around 3 weeks ago i flashed the BeatMod ICS ROM and everything worked just fine...then one day my phone started freezing at lockscreen...like it would start up, but after pushing the power button to lock my phone it won't turn on anymore (except soft buttons)...Then i went back to stock 2.2, made S-OFF, then ENG-OFF and flashed a radio (i can't recall which one) cause i tought that was the problem...indeed that seemed to fix my lockscreen problem..but then once my phone stucked and i had to remove the battery so i could turn it off...it started to freeze at bootloader and at one point simply turned on...it seemed okay....everything worked...or at least that's what i thought until i got home and tried to turn WiFi on...it kept saying error...same with BT...i have no other problem with it except those 2...here is a logcat screenshot with what it says when trying to turn wifi on...any help is welcome
P.S: i love u guys xD xda rocks :]
Seems your radio is bad, either a bad flash or a bad radio. Did you check the MD5 before flashing it?
You might want to flash a different radio and see if it helps.
yeah i did check the md5 checksum, ummm i have no idea...i flashed another radio too but that didn't helped so i restored the phone using a 2.2 WWE stock rom from shipped roms or how it's that site called...hoping that everything will work fine, but it didn't , i might just try to flash a radio again and see if that helps. Thanks for your answer
You can check in the development part of the forum and get the latest radio
Put the .zip in the root of your SD, boot in recovery it should ask if yuo want to update
There you go, should solve your problem
i just tried that yesterday...same thing...and the errno i get from BT in logcat is 19 and the wifi driver thing persists...attachment below...
How do you have flashed the radio???
CU AssiY2K
by ur screenshot i guess that u r still using ics. i had same problem with my wifi and bt. try latest ics rom and in last pages of ics thread is a patch regarding wifi problem apply that too. i hope it ll solve ur prob

i will try that patch...i reverted to stock before and i had the same issues...hope that patch will help (which ics rom thread? LC, Virtuous or BeatMod?)
Okay,
I would try another ROM, not ICS. If the other ROM works with WIFI, then will be the issue to ICS.

well try to install latest virtuous rom and then install wifi patch.
i went back to stock and then flashed various ROMs and i still have the same issue...oh and btw, my phone vibrates twice now before booting up the ROM, then when the ROM boots up it vibrates for the 3rd time....never happened like that until i flashed a radio for the first time...so idk...i think that most probably is a radio problem...and i have no idea what i could do to fix it...it's like over a month now without WiFi and it kinda kills me T_T
/bump /10chars anyone any ideas? QQ
The last time I've updated my SGS1 to ICS, it started after about 1 to 2 weeks, to slow down and it always ended in a bootloop. It just start to restart more and more often. I tried different ROM's, none worked. I tried to flash a Kernel after it starts to reboot - nope. Then I installed the original Samsung ROM, since it works.
Does anyone have any idea why the original ROM does and the costumer ROM does not?
Root? The kernel? Or maybe a hardware problem?
For about 2 years I use customer ROM's and have not had such problems. And you know, it is kind of hard to get back to GB... really...
Thanks for your ideas!

At a guess this is the datadata problem, usually caused when you have more than approx 150 apps installed, do a search for the various solutions

I had about 25-35 programms / games installed, less when the problem has started... i had no problem with the "memory full" error
Stable Baseband Firmware
Have you tried to use Odin to flash it with stable Baseband rom like XXJVS for Gingerbread Rom, after that try to Flash the new ICS ROM like The Nyx Rom, cuz it's stable and I'm using their Rom since they start the Beta.

Now iam on XXDJV1 - it should be the latest version of the original Samsung ROM's. I did flash it with Odin, after that i deletet everything on the phone, flashed a CWM, cleared caches, flash with the zip files (Clean AOKP was the latest).... but do you think it could be different when i start it from the edge? Is there something i can do in a different way?
I really was thinking about Hardware defects, viruses or problems with the root/kernel...
