HI
I have tested different android builds for the last 3 months
I have come to a conclusion
which would include:
best for gaming : Froyo X
best for battery life : Neopeek CM 6.1 Barebone (needs sd card partioned)
best for social (everyday use): Sense Klinux Fix
best all round : Froyo X
Some android builds will require your sd card to be partioned (dont worry i will state which ones are)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=904918&page=66
for more information
Later Use for FAQ
thanks,i was thinking about the same thing, can you go over >here< and post linpack score and info provided,so we can have one complete thread where users will see advantages and disadvantages of different ports
did you,and how did you get wifi to work under froyo x?

do the first boot with kernel provided in the download and then when the phone boots, shut it down replace kernel(zimage and modules) with new zimage and modules found here (1253) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869992
and that's it...wifi works (on froyo x 1.12)
now the 1.23 is out but right now i'm gonna play with 1.12 because it's much quicker than any other build i tried

I would consider myself one who just knows enough to be dangerous when ut comes to installing android on my WM6.1 phone. I have tried multiple versions of android releases but all seem to run slower than desired and I always end up back with WM.
Anyone with experience: which version would you recommend for my phone. Below are the specs. And, by the way, I'm still using the haret.exe; once I finally find a well-working platform, I'll do a full install.
Phone specs:
HTC Touch (verizon: VX6900)
WM 6.1 Prof
CE OS 5.2.19212 (Build 19212.1.0.3)
Processor: MSM7500-400MHz
Memory: 105.13 MB
4GB SD Card
I want a version that runs smoothly on my system and doesn't lag or freeze like a PC from 1992.
Thanks!!

If you want something smooth to use everyday, use one of Plemen's themed donut builds. Or you could even go back to one of the Ion builds. They all work fine.
SenseHero or Tattoo could also work, albeit a bit slower, but more flashy.
I'm currently running a themed build of 2.0.1 from the Kaiser forum.
+1 for Plemen's donut builds - they are all solid as a rock and speedy. They are faster than WM for me, but I am running NAND which is faster.
I got this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591104 installed on my Sprint Touch and I'm liking it so far. I might actually try flashing it sometime.
The one thing you didn't include in your stats is one of the most important stats for the speed of your haret experience, that is the speed of your SD card.
If you have a fast card (class 6) most of these builds will run well with a haret boot.
If you have a slower card, loading the build onto your NAND will increase your speed and stability substantially.
I would also recommend one of Plemen's donut builds for speed and stability.
Now, here's my second question: In my many attempts with different versions (from what I've read), something changed in my google account where I can't access/download unsigned versions of programs. Is there any way to overcome this without changing my google/gmail login??

Do you mean you can't download apps from the market? (Or at least that you have a limited selection?). If so I would suggest the Market Enabler.
And I agree with the previous posters, thus far Plemen's Donut builds have proven to be the most fast and stable. My preference would lie in his HeroBlend build, if only because I like the darker theme.
Plemen's HeroBlend build
Plemen's Eclair Themed build
Also, this Tattoo build looks really nice, and runs quite fast if you delete the Rosie.apk after starting it up. Too bad it's too big to fit in NAND though, at least for now.
I downloaded market enabler, but I still have missing apps...I've read bits and pieces throughout the net that copy protection on certain files is prohibiting me from downloading them.
Oh, and by the way...the recommended build is working VERY well

If you mean you want non-market apps, go to settings>applications> and allow unknown sources.

Installation
Use a Windows Mobile ROM that is known to work with Android (I am using Miri's WM6.5.x XtraLight for fast booting into Android)
Use a Radio version that is known to work with Android (I am using Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2)
Download one of the Android builds above
Extract it to the root of your SD card
Start "\Storage Card\haret.exe" (in fact haret.exe is BatchLaunch)
Android autoboot
Install Gen.Y DualBOOT for starting Android into your Windows Mobile
Reboot your Windows Mobile
If Gen.Y DualBOOT is not loaded on Windows Mobile boot create a shortcut of the Gen.Y tool and place it under "\Windows\Startup\", then reboot again
Switching Android builds without data loss
At first: INVEST THE COUPLE OF MINUTES TO MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR "\Storage Card\Android\" FOLDER!!!
Believe me, even if the strategy is perfect, there are other reasons to fail like filesystems and others.
HAVING A BACKUP IS THE BEST STRATEGY!
Method #1 (the simplest)
Replace everything in your "\Storage Card\Android\" folder but keep "data.img" as this is where your settings and market apps reside in.
Method #2
Use third party apps like described in this thread.
Bluetooth devices working/not working
Working:
Ford car system
Benchmark results
Quadrant BASIC build: 1485
Quadrant SENSE build: 1478
Reporting errors/problems
To have a fair chance of finding errors/problems you report with my builds please posts the build you are using and it's version.
This helps to give faster support and improve the builds.

Forget about the screenshots, just the simple HTC Desire style.
For the BASIC build, just think of the SENSE build but without all the HTC apps, so without the pull down unlock slider and very minimalistic.

Check back in about half an our or an hour. I am currently uploading to Rapidshare.
Any chance you could upload a version without the HTC theme? There are hardly any builds with the original light grey/green Android theme which I prefer.
Will check this out though, if only to see if the battery life is any good.
hey can u tell us the info about what is working or not and also the memory ram zimage that you are using? thanks

The same old well known limitations as ever:
- No 720p support with EVo Camera and Camcorder
- Neocore and some other apps can not be installed, currently investigating this with davlvik debugger.
Camera flashlight is working for me, Flashlight app is not. Will be exchanged in next version if I find a good flashlight app.

Take a look at the changelog info about the used kernel.
It's the latest official git kernel from today using full RAM.
Hey,
Thanks for this - going to make it my first (proper) Android on HD2 build I think as it seems the most up-to-date with Sense.
One request - could you mirror this on something other than Megaupload? For some reason I'm currently only getting 5kbps (dialup speeds!) from Megaupload, everything else is fine. I will help mirror it everywhere afterwards once I get it!
Cheers!
Edit: Just seen you've put RS links up as I posted this - on the case, thanks!

Patched Kernel for TS freeze?
Hi,
This looks awesome, however, the only thing still annoying me on other excellent builds, are the TS freezes, which occur sometimes, even after calibration.
I understand that Hastarin's 8.2 was patched for testing the TS freezes.
is this kernel also patched to avoid them?
Sorry guys forgot to place the media file in Android folder if u already had the file just copy your other Android media file and paste it in the SE V 3.2 Android file reboot .. Good luck.

Any info on non working sound?
Hi All,
I had upgraded HD2 from WM to Android 2.2, however it's unstable lately (rebooted occasionally).
I'd like to know:
1) how and which version I can upgrade to?
2) Is 2.3 more stable than 4.0 now?
Thx a lot.
Boku
Don't mess around and flash this one because HPD6 is the best one at the moment:

First of what a fantastic device. Actually sold mine back in the day, because i thought it was too big, oh how the times have changed. Now its actually considered small
Mine has Windows Mobile 6.5, i bet its the original rom. Most HTC Sense services seem to be down though. A shame, I actually like the launcher better than my current Huawei Android device
Would there be any idea in using Android on this device ? What Rom is to be recommended, that is still available?

Depends on what you want, I still run my HD2 with @dorimanx's rom installed
This
Or you could try @NRGZ28's Rom

What would be a good ROM for just the basics like phone calls and email? Don't need camera, music, games etc

Depends on how fast and stable u want it to be, on my old HD2 i run @dorimanx's ROM, cuz i find it to be the most stable and fastest android ROM for the HD2, if u want to use WM6.5 i recommend @CRACING's ROM, he was the best at cooking WM6.5
I got the other one you linked to, NRGZ28's, ROM working. First time it got stuck at the boot screen but repartitioned the sd card and it worked then. First ever ROM flashed to this phone for me! I always really liked the look of the HTC Sense stuff so that's why I went with that.
I must try that dorimanx's ROM though (I have another HD2). It's a pity all the screenshots for the different ROMs are gone now. I'm really late to the party!
