I have htc hd mini and the memory card inside is the original one that comes with the phone. Recently, i have been facing a problem with saving things on the memory card. The memory card is not formatting, deleting, or any other operations.
When I format it, after formatting nothing has been formatted. When I delete a file, it is still on the card and has not been delete it. When I put something on it, nothing has been put on it. This happens to the memory card inside and outside the phone, even with card reader.
Please, help!!!!!
what brand is your card?
SanDisk
micro SD
2 GB

Didn't I mention that it is not formatted on my pc too.
then there is no hope, just to replace it
format it in a camera...
before throwing the card, try formatting it in a camera.. it usually works, even if it doesn't work on a pc!

thanks, I will try this option.
maybe you didn't unlock the memory card physically if you use an adapter ?
there's a small button on the memory card adapter that is lock button. you have to change that mode.

I know this small button. thanks anyway.
Maybe your card reader is broken. I had this problem sometimes. Especially on those cheap card readers.

The data from my SD card became partly unreadable, some prgms could not be started and when looking at the root folder of my card I found some items named like ç!é”è((é§éç. Putting the card out and back in didn’t help, only a soft reset did the job. All data was still intact. This thing happened twice untill now. I use a Sandisk 1GB card.
Has anyone had this problem before? I remember reading about the same problem on a forum but couldn't find the posting.
I also experienced the same problem
I had this problem before. When I pulled my Sandisk 1 GB Micro SD and pushed it back in, the System did not recognize my Memory Card. I did it several times and suddenly it came back again.
The trick I used was pushing the Memory upward (against the back of the phone) until the memory was not completely inserted. Roughly about 1/10 of the memory sticks out of the memory slot
I believe this is a major hardware problem with the Memory Slot.
I have had this problem with my 2GB miniSD on my MDA Compact- the first time i had no choice but to re-format the card and start over but second time, re-inserting the card solved the problem.
May be something to do with the card not getting proper contact.
It doesn't work at all anymore!
I've had the same problem with my 1gb SD card since I bought it 2 years ago. It's crap, because copying a movie for instance through the phone (MDA compact) takes forever.
Now I reformatted it, and copied some stuff to it through my card reader. But after putting it back into my phone, the card now is not even seen at all by my phone, and putting it back in my PC doesn't work either... now it's not recognised anywhere anymore...
Anyone, now how to get this fixed?!
Thx!

Try using this utility (or similar) to format your card from a card reader:
http://www.sdcard.org/Downloads.aspx I've used it many times on various cards and seems to do the trick.

Hmmm, thx for hint, but that didn't work either. Since the drive isn't recognised, so does this tool... weird enough the adminstrative tools in windows (drive managament) does see a 1gb drive, but assigning a new drive letter causes an error.... damn... looks like I'll be buying a new SD card.
Does anyone know which brands/types (I now have a 1gb Kinston) have less problems with this, so I can copy files to and from my card though my card reader instead of my phone, without srewing my card up?
Edit: Ha! I formatted my SD card with my digital camera! Leaving just the problem of not being able to copy files to my card through my cardreader...
I'm having SD card issues. Suddenly the SD card isn't recognized; certain folders/files don't show up in the file manager. I also get a message when opening the camera, stating, "Please insert an SD card before using the camera." If I remove, then re-insert, the card reappears, but I get an error message that I removed it improperly. It reverts back to the initial problem soon after.
Please Help!!!
Unmount the SDcard,
Settings> SD card & storage > Unmount SD card
from there you'll click Format SD card..
You'll lose any data you have but since the card isnt reading anyways there isnt much else you can do to fix that.

This issue isn't a constant one; it reads the card properly most of the time. Is reformatting the only solution to this problem, or is there anything else I can try?
Well if it reads it some of the time the it seems like its a sd card slot that's the problem and not the card... MyTouch's have had some problems with fault sd card slots. You might look into sending it back to HTC and having it repaired seeing as it's most likely a hardware issue.

that blows! i've only had the phone a couple months. this issue started happening recently, not the entire time i've had the phone. is there a way for me to test the slot on my own, without having to send it out?
SD Card Data
Since I've bought the T-Mobile myTouch 3G (1.2/LE) I've had reoccurring problems with the 8GB microSD card that came with the phone. It would randomly say that the card was blank, but a quick pop in and out of the slot fixed the problem. The problem has turned permanent now; my pop in/out method hasn't worked (it still comes up blank). When I insert the SD card into my standalone SD card reader it goes unrecognized; nothing happens (which is the standard reaction when plugging in the reader without a card).
I have another 2GB microSD card which works fine (on my phone and with the card reader), so the problem isn't the card reading mechanism. While in the SD card settings on my phone I hit "Format" by mistake I then clicked the "Erase" button in the following prompt, however nothing happened! Something strange is going on, which leads me to believe that there's a chance I can recover the lost data on the card. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Adam

Probably a bad sdcard. It happens. Reformat and try it again. If that fails then get a new sdcard.
By the way, I'm merging with a similar post that you made a couple of months ago.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=692071
I'm trying to keep this forum clean and organized you know.
Now the 2GB card got erased! It was called "2GB," Now it's blank (besides a directory called "LOST.DIR" w/ nothing in it) and called "NO NAME."
Do you think the phone could be causing this to keep happening? This is how it started w/ the 8GB card until it eventually stopped being recognized at all. Is the SD format supposed to be FAT32?
Thanks,
-Adam
Morning gents,
My SD card arrived today from Play.com, it's a 16Gb Sandisk Mobile mircoSDHC Card (at least that's what the card says lol), I dropped it striaght in my HD2 (ginderbread), needed formatting, so off it went...
Then it said the card was damaged.........so into the PC it goes, would you like to format? yes.........it does it's business then says windows cannot complete the format as write protection is on.....
So I has a browse about on here and the Panasonic SD Formatter seems to come up a lot so (you can see where this is going....;-)
Sets it off formatting, full format, adjustment off (then on), and it comes back saying "The Memory Card is write-protected. Please release the write protect switch."
Trouble is it's plugged straight into my systems build in reader...so no adapter, no switch AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Help!!!!

Built in readers from my experience can be very whiny. Try removing and reinserting the card. Sometimes it takes being inserted just right to be mounted properly.

Nah it's still doing it, would a "plug in usb reader" be better?
Will try and find one, worth a try...
Also my misses has the desire, so will try formatting the card in hers, see if that helps things along........FFS lol
Right tried in the desire, that just says it's safe to un-mount....wierd, won't format...
running out of ideas here...lol
Edit: screw it i'm sending it back, see what the replacement one is like...
My Kingston 16GB, use all normal
I am using Imation 16GB Class10 works wonderfully!!!

Thread closed I think...
Hello, Im on 3.1 honeycomb on my Asus eee pad, and I put the memory card in and nothing happens. What do I need to do?
that's strange.
for me, I just stick the microsd card and a notification pops up.
Maybe you need to check what type of partition your micro-sd card(fat, ext, ntfs).
also, what memory card is yours: what manufacturer, what class, is it sdhc?
Its a HC sandisk 4gb that i got with my Nokia 5530. How can I check what type it is? And what type should it be to work?
Try reformatting the sdcard using the following application:

Yea either your card is broken or formatted wrong. More than likely formatted wrongly if it still works fine in your camera or whatever.
Either format, or get a different card. A 4gb card doesnt that THAT long. Probally less time than you've spent waiting on this post to produce magic.
I am experiencing something similar too. In my case I have a microsd that doesn't work in the microsd slot. When I put iit on my phone it work fine and when I put it on my microsd card reader it works fine, in both computer and dock. I have another microsd that works fine in the microsd slot. So I really don't know what is going on with that microsd card.
try formatting to fat32
mine is formated to fat32 and works in the dock but not in the microsd card slot.
I've got the same issue on 3.1 and 3.0 with a micro sd formated in fat 32. It works on my SGS and with the sd adaptater so i think it's more a harware problem. In fact when i plug the card and push it, the notification appears during 1 second when i release it.

Exactly same behaviour Here!! But strangely other microsd cards works. I will try to find more msd cards and confirm if this is a tf problem or card problem (or both ) .
My bad, my msd was formatted to ntfs. Apparently the tablet doenst like ntfs or ext.

hi,just tried my new 32gb sandisk & it wont stay on,i plugged it in & it says i can safely remove & when i mount it it appears as 29gb and then vanishes again, ive erased the card but still wont stay & also restarted phone ??? any ideas ? is the card a duff ?
bloody hell now my old card is doing the samething & all my data, music & videos etc are not showing ?
none of my cards will stay mounted & ive factory reset also, they just appear & disappear 16gb & my new 32gb sandisk ?
notification keeps coming up to safely remove sd card
There is a little switch that clicks down when you put the back down. Be sure the back cover of your phone is all the way one or it won’t mount.
Also once you change cards your old card will not work in your phone again (data wise).
The phone seems to marry to the card then forget the old card. I learned that the hard way when I put a smaller card in while I rooted my phone (all I did was format the other card at that point). Then I put my main card back in all my games had to be reinstalled.
You can copy all the data files from one card to the other and the phone will recognize both properly

Not that I know of. Like I said it forgot my SD after putting a new one in and formatting it. So i'm guessing one at a time.

Same, had the same issues at first, and this was the solution.
That feature is there so hotswapping your memory card won't cause data corruption.
