Cyanogen Nightly is back up folks. Get it while it's hot: http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic
Upon further review... this is a "new" build but it's Froyo Based.
Still waiting for a CM7 Gingerbased Build.

indeed....
coming from 6.1.2... nightly 222 so far is giving me slightly better battery life. with 1.6.2 i was getting around 10-15% drain (edit: per half hour) during constant use on wifi, now it's around 7-12%.
I'm running 6.1.2, is a full wipe required prior to installing this nightly?

full wipe always minimizes issues however it doesn't look like there are any major changes so a cache/dalvik wipe then flash should be fine. that's what i did (b/c i was lazy) and am having no issues.
I'll give it a shot then..thx
No, you will only need to wipe cache and dalvic cache going to an updated CM6.x. You will need to do a full wipe if you go to CM7, however.

Well I was looking for a new kernel the other day. I was getting tired of the lag of kingklicks kernels for gps. No offense king, Ive used your kernels since day one of my inc. So I went searching for a new kernel and tried out ziggys outrageous 1.28 lightspeed kernel which turned out to b false (really 1.15, somebody lied to him bout the code). Well on Oct 26th he came out with his new BFS kernel of the source code 2.6.32.24 with being overclock to 1.19. He uses this for bfs which king is still using 2.6.32.15. So far as using it no lag on gps and still get the same quadrant(1680) and linpack(40.223) as kings BFS. If you looking to try a new kernel heres the link. I hope ziggy471 dont mind but mad props to him.

I have used it on skyraider 3.3.2 now for the last 3 days with exceptional responsiveness and exceptional battery life. I heard people use the AOSP kernel for cyanogenmod and it has been worthy for them too. Difference is AOSP is for people who dont use SENSE UI in the rom. What rom are you using? Also did you clear dalvik cache and regular cache for. I downloaded the non-AOSP.
You can't be using one or the other kernel, either your running an AOSP rom or a Sense rom. That right there tells you which kernel to choose.

I hope this is in reference to the comment above my last one. Cuz I do know what kernel and rom Im running. I use the non-AOSP cuz my sense ui is still intact. NON_VANILLA
This is BFS with HAVS correct? How is the battery life/responsiveness?
Battery life is excellent, best I have had. Quadrant has been in the 1400's consistently (overclocked to 1.113), as apposed to others that are in the 1100-1200 range (including king's) with random moments of greatness into 1400.

Does it lag at all though? I installed King's CFS on CM 6.0.2 and it lagged alot. The 6.1rc2 kernel is very snappy
Nope, no lag. Just a good kernel. I am actually very pleased considering I have suffered with others.
After about 20 or so hours my phone has to be restarted, for some reason there is lag that occurs that can only be fixed with a reboot.
I've had this happen with other kernels too

This is why I stopped using Kings kernals, phone gets stuck at 100% cpu and needs to be reset.
That sucks this kernal does the same.
I just wiped Dalvik and system cache, installed and rebooted. It's seemingly stuck on the bootscreen. How long has it taken to reboot you guys?
Up to ten minutes after wiping Dalvik cache. Hang tight!
It's probably the BFS scheduler... even though the bfs faq says it's good to use in phones.. lol
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/bfs/bfs-faq.txt
I wonder if our phones would benefit from a higher tickrate when using bfs..

I use the same ROM 3.3.2 as you. I downloaded the non-aosp version of ziggy's kernal. I wiped my cache and dalvik...but no luck with this kernal. My phone just keeps rebooting. See my signature line below and tell me what is different from your setup. Are you using HBoot .92???
im using radio .07.28 and CMR 2.5.0.5 Difference in you your signature

Well, user "Panda Fuzz" is using this kernal okay with my radio version. Hmm.. Must be my 2.5.1.1 version of CMR. People have reported problems with SR 3.3.2 and 2.5.1.1, but not me. This will be the first problem I have encountered with it. Guess I will try going back to CMR 2.5.0.5 and give ole ziggy another shot.
I understand the newer nightlies are using the new kernel and need an update u-boot? If I flash within ROM manager will this be done automatically, or would I need to do that and the kernel flash manually? Been using 7.03 for a while but I would like to try the new stuff with the sleep fix if it's not overly complicated.
Also, if I go back to 7.03 can I just restore a backup in CWM or is there more to it since I've moved to a whole new kernel?

I am under the impression that nightlies beginning with 86 are including the new u-boot by default.

I am very interested in responses to this too--as I am running cm7.0.3, and would like to try the nightly route. what is the best way to move over to nightlys?
I believe just flash them. It worked for me and I jumped from 7.0.0 to 87!
Just went from 7.0.3 to 87 myself.
This is correct. Don't need to flash u-boot for n86 and on. Just flash the nightly itself, then the 5/23 OC kernel if you want to overclock.

You can just flash the latest nightly right over cm7.0.3, followed by the 5/23 OC kernel if you want to overclock. Did exactly that just today without any problems, and everything is now working wonderfully.
I wiped cache and dalvik cache before flashing, as I always do. Some say this isn't needed, but I always do it anyway. Only takes a few seconds and can't hurt anything.

Setcpu is pretty good if you're not using a rom with it built in (such as CM7)

First and foremost if your flashing anything always make a nandroid, you can never go wrong in that department. Wipe cache/dalvik 2x each (preferably with Amon_RA), Flash kernel, reboot... Rinse and repeat every time.
I might be the only one here with this, cause I've read through many posts....But CM7.2 has freeze problems on my green lens defy, which I have to reboot by removing the battery. CM7.1 when I use the Camera, hangs, and have to reboot. And sometimes the same thing happens with my music player: DoubleTwist.
I love the CM Roms.. but not having solved my issues, what is out there that works? Suggestions?

Try flashing a new base froyo and do the whole process again.
Also make sure to always wipe cache/dalvik.

I take it it's the 04/05 Nightly right and not the one that has (kobe)?
Well I installed this morning CM7.2 Stable and it has happened again....for instance when I power off, the phone lags for about 3 seconds, then it slowly animates the TV tube animation and shuts off.
I'm downloading the quark 04/05 nightly to see if that helps.
Cheers, and thanks

Hi,
that's weird. My Defy (MB525, Red Lens) works fine with 7.2 nightly. Used the Defy+ Version with 4.5.2-109_DHT-22 GB kernel. Works stable and fast...

Every rom out there will have bugs here and there. It's not always "clean". Most of the roms here are pretty much stable for daily use. If you find a build or any rom that you like and a new build comes out, stick with the old one if nothing funny comes up on your phone.

It amuses me when people say 'backup and wipe before every flash' because that's simply wrong. I've 'dirty' flashed ROMs for ages and never had an issue. All it does is wastes time. Sure you'll get a marginally higher chance of success, but you have to sacrifice a tonne of time (especially restoring apps if you use Titanium free).

i usually wipe one time when switching from stock to my preferred ROM and that´s it. never had any problems with dirty flashing new builds then.
some people also advice to wipe dalvik, format system, etc. when flashing a new build, useless as well, the updater script does it all for you
This is a Nexus, almost all roms can be considered "stable"

Seen that you asked about roms (plural) it looks like you are going to be flashing like mad anyway?
It's ok, you can come out. We're all flash & test junkies in here, we'll understand..
(I've tried: aokp pub, whitehawkx's, ele, rasbean, pa, liquid, now carbon. All very stable.)
