Thanks to all the developers - HD2 General

I've been a member of this forum for about 4 months now, and I just wanted to post a big thank you to all the developers out there in a thread that I think should highlight their work and for us to show our gratitude to them.
I bought my HD2 (T-mobile) used, through ebay (to the caribbean) and have been loving it ever since, primarily due to the development published in this xda-forums. It's good to know that google shows the xda site as the first sight when looking for apps and roms, tweaks, etc. for my HD2.
I'm technically capable, but haven't done programming in about 8 years, but I remember the struggles, and these guys here keep putting out new developments, one after the other to keep us up-to-date. I moved from stock ROM to EnergyROM- Dinik, then to Energy Titanium. Before the end of last year I was using dual boot with Android Froyo by Darkstone. For the new years, the developers again moved progress with us now being able to run NAND versions of Android on the HD2. I've so far installed and tried 3, finally sticking with the Prj Clean Desire ROM - Froyo version (I like room to add my own apps without clutter).
I try to support as much as possible, but sometimes I do miss.
I decided to start this thread for a single, simple reason. To give the respect, gratitude and thanks to all the developers on the xda-forums who continue to ensure that our HTC phones are well optimised and continually on the cutting edge of new mobile software, applications and platforms (I'm sure we have yet to see a Windows Phone 7 adaptation yet).
For me there are a few whose names/aliases constantly appear:
Cotulla (the god who gave us HSPL and magldr)
Dark Forces Team (DFT)
Darkstone
EnergyROM creators
Core ROM creators
Hastarin
Miri ROM creators
Cyanogen creators
Once again, mad props to you guys and the many other developers out there.
If I were HTC, Microsoft or Android, I'd be hiring you guys without question.
Keep up the good work.

Nice speech there mate! Without doubt we all show our graditute and we thank the developers for their hard work, imagination and dedication!
We also want to say THANK YOU to xda forum that made all of these possible!

Let's not forget dcordes, netripper, letama and markinus for getting Android for the hd2 where it is today. Without them starting the project and getting the Linux kernel ported, we probably wouldn't even have a working Android yet.

Yeah everything y'all do on this website is amazing, thank y'all so much!

[Collaborative ROM] Android 2.2 Yogurt

We must wait the AOSP stable release of Android 2.2 Froyo. After, we can start.

News:
19/06: The FRF72 Froyo Beta is out for the Nexus One.
19/06: New changes on the site by Sherry123.
18/06: +500 visitors on the official site. Thanks everybody.

i think it s a very GOOD idea !!!
every body work on 2.1 , but if every one goes on this idea , i think we can try froyo
a unique and comon good rom
but is every developer are going to work in a same and good rom ???? that is the question
they all have a good experience in 2.1 so why not a 2.2 ..... now
As far as I can tell this is allready happening with the abyzou rom. I recon 5-6 ppl are working on it, or atleast they have been.
2.1 that is, and so far it works perfectly with the exception of the camera, being worked on though
I can help make web.
where have u seen many artists painting one peace of art?
Programming is like an art! Everyone have it own style! I doubt it would be possible to make such a team, as everyone would like to put something from his own in it, while other one wouldn't like it!
Some developer can help other, like someone could help abyzou rom to get camera and sens! Then the person who helped could use working camera/sens for his own rom.
i can be one of your testers and if i've time i can try to study something to let it work on froyo
Work in such kind of things in teams its very hard if there is no leadder,no competiton and more than 2 or 3 people.
Frist of all the leadder has to set the objectives and asign each team member a work.
As i can see in the forum there is a big
cooperative spirit and i can asume than all of you visit tattoo forums frok your contries.
We are a lot of people.
We need someone to lead all of us, someone testing, programming or weathever...
But for teamworking is better to own a laedder.

I agree.
I will make team for making colaborative ROM. Just create the rules.
i'm here
ikxdf has just made a 2.1 nearly completely functional. Support him now and then we all could work on a 2.2 porting
I m ok for testing every thing
got tattoo and teamviewer for help ........
can format for windows or ubuntu ......
with froyo , we could have google earth on tattoo lol !!! nice
I can be the "leader", but i don't want to give orders.
But, i think the ROM must be basic...
Basic, i want to say no more apps installed (as Twitter, ...) just, basic apps.
Then, i think we cam make a team with a lot of developers even if each developer has his way of...
The Tattoo community is welded, i'm sure of that.
But everyone must play a whole...
What do you think honestly about that?
I'll modify first post if people are ok for try this big project...
I m ok for that
i have not lot "competences" but can help with the few one ......
so we got a leadder (gabsx23)
i thnik that your mission is give peaople work to do.
and fix the priority objectives, a kind of primary mission.
as the itilian developers team (alberto, ikxdf ... you know them all) is finish right now the eclair version (its awesome guys) i would focus on froyo...
i propose as primmary mission to do a bootable version of froyo...
what dou you think guys?
and gabsx ,it would be great to start with creating a froyo rom post start as soon as possible in a tiddy way.
(im sorry for my bad english...)
well dudes... lets start.
will you start from N1 update.zip?
We can but it's not the good release...
The good version of Froyo coming soon (Google say ^^).
But we can start with an other 2.2 official ROM and wait.
I just want already to make a good team for preparing that.
Do you think is it a good idea?
Yes, why do the job 2 times? better waiting for the "real" stable version..

Yes i think too
Would like to help, but why don't you wait until the froyo source comes out??
For already create and prepare a team for develop directly a good ROM with many people who want stable Froyo on Tattoo...
I don't know if you understand me? lol

Still only one Chef!

I can't belive the Dell Streak has been out nearly six months and we still only have one Chef!
The most awesome.... Stephen Hyde!
If it wasn't for this gent we would still be stuck with Dells own....which as we all know SUCKS!
I came from the HD2 where, after six months, there were about 20 Chefs and many many different ROMs!
Is this indicative of the Android cooking scene? On WinMo 6.5 devices there are always lots of Chefs and ROMs. On Android devices do you only usually get a couple of Chefs and ROMs? Is it harder to be a Chef on an Android device?
Anyway, I think we all owe Stephen a big round of applause and perhaps a donation for making our devices 500% better than when we got them!
(ooooo 666th post )
Absolutely!! Stephen is the man!!! I've owned the Streak for just a few days now, and I've already ditched Dell's own for Stephen's ROMs!
do we need anymore?
the hd2 may have many "chefs", but most of them were doing nothing more than repacking files with a different theme.. YAWN
android tends to need a bit more nouse, ok its not hard to be a repackager, but to do something useful needs more skill than that.
I could also release roms, but tbh I'd rather help steve with his and have one good one.
Whilst I agree with what your saying, I have to say that there were quite a few 'core' Chefs, and the ROMs they were cooking were significantly different from each others. Buut yes you did get the blokes that had just downloaded a Kitchen and cooked their own programs/themes into it.
Being able to pick and choose between many diffrent ROMs pleased me somewhat
Not Android Development Please Post in the Correct Forum Thanks
Moved to General
I've wondered about the dearth of chefs as well. Love DJ_Steve, no doubt. I guess this speaks somewhat to the low adoption of the Streak. Stupid Dell, you go and create an awesome phone but then you continually screw up the launch and everything after.

HD2 Lossing the Great Developers

Hi All this is for all of us and our wonder full HD2
We are losing our developers Due to Our or someone else mistake. In very recent past 3 to 4 dev's has sopped working for or HD2 we should try and stop that trend to keep our HD2 Live latest one dorimanx and xylo if any other please add the name I am very much thankful to all the developers and Cookers who cook's the ROM for US.If we can get back the DORI and xylo both had given us very best of their work.
With full respect to all the past developer's I had given name of only very recent Developers please don't misunderstand My post Thanks
You are 100% rigt.
+1 for support.BECAUSE OF THEM OUR HD2 IS MUCH BETTER PHONE, AND WE KNOW THAT SHOULD 100 AND 100 OF HOURS AND MANY NIGHTS TO DEVELOP ROMS, KERNELS AND THE OTHER GREAT THINGS FOR HD2.

Dunno about Dorimanx but Xylo is definitely still active on the HD2 forums, so I don't know what you're on about there. Yes, development for the HD2 is decreasing but it's because the phone's three years old, not because of the community. I'm not quite sure but I reckon you won't be able to find any other phone which is this old and still has this much activity. Even so, the HD2 probably has another half a year of life at the most before development completely ceases, so we may as well enjoy it whilst it lasts and face the truth that sooner or later this phone will die.
+1 as well dorimanx is in my opinion the best dev on here no disrespect to other devs but he is hands above the others in relatiin to his kernel work with zram and swap and the frequency with which he used to update his rom us unsurpassed making my hd2 faster than then my friends stock sensation. we all miss him here his dev status in my opinion and the opunion of others should never have been revoked. i was told by a moderator that they answer questions within 24hours but am still awaiting answers to questions in my thread reinstatement of developer status which i posted for dori to be given his dev status back in questions and answers.
so hail the MAESTRO DORIMANX and please return we need you. if u are nit going to return please open your rom and kernel in some other forum and we will leave xda and follow you once again.
I believe that all the developers are worthy of respect. all have made the development of hd2 possible, every one for own characteristics and knowledge.
perhaps they are of part but dorimanx for me it is the number one for when it concerns the innovations brought on our telephone, I speak of the data2ext, of the swap, of the zram. Is Tytung one of fathers founders of the rom android on hd2, which rom android has not had one kernel of his? I believe anybody (the dorimanx has not perhaps had never it).
I believe to speak for the good of everybody, because they don't put on all together with to work for a rom android that perhaps that official are even able of eguagliare.
you think only to imagining xylo + tytung + rick_1995 + dormanx, and many I have forgotten of it, that work for a rom that could remain for a long time perhaps on our telephones.
you excuse for the English
Isn't this the same thing people posted about a few months ago

i disagree tbh it still as a 4" screen thats the main reason its still up there ,back in the day apple said there screen was big enough now the min screen is what the hd2 has got so id say long as the devs still want to they will as it still outsrtips a lot off phones out there on spec ,off topic but shame the devs never got in to the hd7
I'm delighted to have found this website! I got my HD2 and at first I quite liked the W6.5 on it, slowly getting used to it and them BAM! I can't use the Windows Marketplace, that was the only/final straw for me, what the hell is the point in having a marketplace on the phone when you can't even use it! I started looking into getting android on it and managed to stumble across this site and thanks to the helpful guides on how to flash my phone I've managed to get it how I like it! Keep up the good work guys as I am here for a while now, can't see me getting rid of my HD2 for a long time and will always be checking here for updates!
you want developers? spare hd2's for new ones(not noobs, ones without hd2, i mean).
simple.
many thanks for all their great works
I'm very happy Tytung is making HD2 roms again. Thanks to him, my HD2 now runs ICS perfectly. He released his last ROM yesterday, his previous ROM last week. He always was my favorite developer.
We salute you, Tytung!

Team Legacy

Now recruiting everyone, and i mean everyone from devs, themers, rom porters, testers, everyday users, everyone that loves their old phone and wants to see the development live on.
The only requirement is to work toward the common goal of seeing our old HTC devices live on.
Team Legacy: Greasing the Wheels for HTC Android Legacy Devices.
We may not have the newest, spankiest devices, but by god we just wont quit.
If anyone can think up a logo or a new motto, please do.
Between the eris, the hero, and the heroc, we are all in this together.
Great idea. At this stage there are so few developers working on legacy devices, with some devices having no active development at all.
It makes sense to have a 'pool' of Developers brought together; able to work on multiple devices.
Give people the option to donate a second-hand device to 'Team Legacy.' This could be done by either someone sending a device they no longer want, or starting a fund and having people donate what they can to buy a specific device for the team. That device could even be circulated among them by post if necessary.
Progress might take months instead of weeks, but at least we would have progress!
Motto idea: Development requires skill; not new hardware.
I'm in this! We should keep the old devices pumping!
Reviving old good roms, building on stock, sense, froyo, gb, ics, it doesn't matter, as long as we have something to flash - everyone is happy!
I will soon make a sense 2.0 rom (stock one, with lots of customizations and tweaks that hopefully will make the greatest sense rom stock ever) and I will need testers and/or developers/modders that want to give an idea or a mod to this project!
I'd love to be a part of this, and with my new CM9 rom, i think we have a stable and fast ICS rom for all legacy devices
And ill be sure to port over your paranoid android rom and add the tweaks from my CM9 rom to boost speed significantly!
So who's in team legacy so far?
Also i have an extra htc hero gsm if anyone would be willing to trade for a hero cdma or Eris?

In my opinion this idea needs to be cross-posted for all HTC Android Legacy Devices to get maximum attention and to attract contributors to the project.
It would be also great to see this stickied in the Development section for all those devices.

This would be great for all armv6 devices
We could use aroma installer in order to get one rom booting on several devices, this would mean we have more devs working on the same rom
I could create the aroma scripts with help from whoshotjr2006 regarding porting help.
jordfaz,
that was exactly what i was thinking of when i posted this lol. aroma is one hell of a tool, and if we could create 1 rom instead of 3, and just use aroma in order to make it work on all 3 devices, then that would be one heck of an ideal situation.
1ceb0x, jordfaz and lost101, welcome to Team Legacy!
benjamingwynn had posted .sense a while back, and while it didnt work on heroc, (not sure about hero) he had a great idea. one grand unifying rom that encompasses many devices, instead of 10 different roms for 10 different devices.
some early possible candidates for inclusion into Team Legacy are the G1, and the wildfire(buzz), and we already have eris, hero and heroc.
Also the way i see it is we already have many honorary members, such as the guys we ported from. Membership is just a matter of being a team player. Everyone that uses our devices in any way is a member already, we all just didnt know it until now lol.
As a policy, i would like to have open arms for any old devices, just so long as they have at least one guy to port/dev roms. that way since its hard for us to get other devices, everyone is represented in the process. Samsung, LG, Moto, they are all welcome.
It should work alright. We need a place to talk. Gtalk?

And has anyone created a logo for team legacy yet? I tried and failed :silly:
Im interested in joining Team Legacy. I have an HTC Hero GSM, im trying to port MIUI v4 on it, and later probably MIUI v3
welcome to team legacy! we are glad to have you. im cooking up something in the works that will hopefully help out the way roms are installed right now, and more details will come hopefully very soon.
any way you can contribute, we are glad to have you!
It would be cool to make a team legacy social group here on XDA, we had one on HTC Tattoo. So all devs can make a thread there on their alpha builds to be tested or ask for help off forums.

can u suggest me a android rom for my htc leo:hd2

Hello, I m using htc leo:hd2, and its now converted to android, but the problem is about phone is showing my phone is htc bravo android v.2.2.1. Please guide me to find a suitable ROM for my phone... and how can i get it?
There is a Android HD2 NAND development section you know.
try LOOKING there
its not hard you know, looking
try this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25781675#post25781675
I think by now, we are tired of seeing the exact same thread pop up over and over again.. A simple google search of "best android rom" would result in a plethora of hits that would have solved your problem faster than making a new, but redundant thread.. One size does not fit all, and you will have to try out various roms before you find one that you like..
Thanks a lot

This one has been really good for me.
look for one of the miui roms
Welcome to forums. I'll give you a few brief tips on what I've learned over the last six months about android, hd2, and android.
With a typical nand install, the bootable system is installed on your internal nand, irrespective of your sd-card being present. Some may relate to the following comparison to a microsoft windows based system: your nand is like your internal hard drive "master" that contains your "C:" drive.
Your system folder on your nand has files specific to your device as required for it to boot and run properly. To access the market (google play) as well as have various hardware functionality, there is a file "build.prop" that is a small file with a text list of various descriptors. Being that the hd2 was not shipped with android, some of these descriptors name other devices as opposed to the actual device. In this case the "leo" or hd2 is using a ported version of android from a "bravo" or desire HD. So your system isn't malfunctioning describing another device name, rather, it could be looked at as "masquerading" as another device. I'm certain that is a severe dumbing-down of the technical details, but it's been helpful for some to look at it that way.
As for xda, I hope you spend an enormous time reading and not posting, as I have done all year. I have not posted at all and have literally read damn near every single post in the hd2 section and many more useful posts in other sections. After over six months and countless hours experimenting/flashing/customizing/etc on my own I am beginning to post now, attempting to contribute a bit in the forums that aren't still restricted for me because I feel comfortable enough to begin working towards contributing my input in the developer forums.
Most forums online have a similar attitude towards the plethora of posts like this, which bluntly request a quick answer for what is best determined through spending time reading and researching.
Hopefully you read the above and didn't skip to the end here where I wholeheartedly recommend the xylograph paranoid android ics rom. Cheers, and best of luck getting this amazing phone to fight well.
Amen to that. Nonetheless for starters go soft on your first rom get the CM7 of tyween. It's light and works well. But it's your choice. Indeed, look at me, just joined yesterday spent also almost six months reading the posts and relevant dev threads. Why am I posting, need it now to be able to complete my ten......
I can say for myself only. By my opinion, AOKP has best combination of settings and tweaks which really make life easier. Battery life and speed of this rom are very very good. But unfortunately this rom was not very stable for me, I experienced hot reboots regularly.
So I switched back to NexusHD2. It has comparable battery life and speed, but less tweaking possibilities. Stability of this rom has always been out of question for me. It is solid rock.
TyphooN CyanogenMod ROM was my first rom on HD2 and I have only positive impressions of it. Switched to ICS just because this phone let me do that. Prefer newer versions when possible.
