Any problem with official update on rooted streak? - Streak 5 General

I read online somewhere that you may not qualify for the official froyo update if your streak has been rooted. Did anyone with a rooted streak have a problem getting the update?
I apologize if this has been asked and answered, but you can't really search this question since nearly every post contains the words "rooted" and "update"
Fingers crossed for the update next week!

Not sure if there is a way to learn if a device is rooted or not remotely...

I have a UK O2 Streak that is rooted and it updated to the official O2 2.2 froyo with no problems. In fact it was a weirdly smooth transition... everything actually worked as it was meant to and I didn't have to do anything to start using it again except get rid of the stupid Stages and install Launcher EX

UK I9000 official firmware upgrade

All,
I just got a prompt from Kies. There is an official upgrade! It offers JM1 firmware.
What firmware have you got now?
Stock - JF3
That's it? That's their fix is it? A beta firmware called JM1, where quite a lot of people have already updated to JM2 and JM5?
It does not solve a thing. The underlying problems still remain. JMX firmware merely dampens things down and is a bit more intelligent in drawing a path. It doesn't solve GPS stability issues, lock or anything else.
If this is the direction Samsung are going, then I think this sends a signal that the issue is not fixable and this is just a fudge.
Roll on October for a HTC Desire HD.
Hi All
I have upgraded to the new firmware but now i am unable to download some apps from the market place
I had myplayer on my phone before the upgrade and now when i search for it on the market its not there
Does anyone know why i cant see it my mate can see myplayer on his htc desire phone.
Ha, I bloody knew it would be one we've already seen! Unless someone can confirm this actually fixes anything I'm not letting it anywhere near my phone.
It makes sense that it's a previous leak, the official releases are always going to lag behind the leaks we get.
Presumably they thought JM1 was enough of an update and stable enough for release to justify making it official.
There'll be more, just got to wait
But this was supposed to be "We have a fix guys, yeah, we'll release it in Beta" kind of attitude.
It's not fix at all, just a flaming fudge.
No lag-fix at all? Very, very disappointed!
No one said it was a fix, just an official firmware update. Fixes will probably come out in betas first. Thanks OP for the info.

What waste the hours on 2. 1 where they should spend it on 2.2.?

hey at least they came through with their hold up to ship new inventory using the new ROM
1. how do I figure out what firmware I am on? ( not in phone status)
2. Do I have to instal kies to update it?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I dont give a damn for any Kies notification as long as its not about an official Froyo release. Not that we all wouldnt have it by that time on our SGS already...

Use the *#1234# code on your phonecall-keyboard to see what firmware ur running on.
Kies isnt the only way to upgrade ur firmware version, its just the official way. I've used ODIN3.

I am on JF1...is that older than JF3?

Is there any way for us to know if this JM1 is exactly the same as the "unofficial" one?
It would be interesting to see if anyone could compare this official release to the beta release to see if any final changes have been made

I think there was a rush to get DHD on market before win7 phones.
In the rush not everything could be tested so as each problem arises (HTC do look at XDA forums among others) HTC bring out a fix, and the great thing about Android is the OTA patches rather than having to keep searching XDA forums for ROMs or cracks that fix problems.

OS 2.2 update and fix

hello I just recieved my ztreak today rogers so its 1.6 , am wondering if I can just dl update.pkg and run it from the phone, I dont have access to comp right now. Also what app for root?
Thank you
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
Coming from x10, I love this thing. I have already booted into recovery, is it as easy as dl update.pkg and running it from recovery?
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
Sorry multiple posts, working off cracked x10. My baseband is 11732-Us. And my build is 7921. Any help appreciated
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
Well, read around and came to conclusion its not doable because i need to change baseband. But am on the streak now and love it. I am using better keyboard due to the stock one seeming small. Love the screen size, make my x10 look mini. LoL

rogers streak is rootable , check my thread in this section ,
i have it rooted with 2.1 on it ,
its pretty simple i will make a guide for it right now
I just used universal androot. Worked like a charm.

I upgraded mine to 2.2 stock an I've been workink for days with it without issues (well it slows down once in a while but I still have to try the fix to accelerate 2.2 to see if that helps) anyways I'm happy overall with it.
The way I did it was following the tutorial to change baseband to 00 and after that with the US stock rom I followed another guide to upgrade using the stock 2.2 pkg. Was not that hard really... I got a little lost when I was changing the baseband to 00 but in the forum with the tutorial for that there is a post with some instruction to clear your existing packages and apply another recover... This did the trick for me and after that evrything was smooth update.. In overall took me like 3 hours with all the research and reboot necesary... But here I'm happy Froyo swiping in 2.2
Good luck!

On GB 588...up to 59x worth it?

After much gnashing of teeth and unbelievably patient assistance I upgraded to a stock rooted GB.
I love it. I admit it...I was wrong:GB is THAT MUCH better than froyo.
So...
Is there any reason to bare the slings and arrows of outrageous sbf-ing to pop up to 595 or 6 or 1?

I was on .588 for a few minutes today from .340 and after upgrading to .595 it seemed a bit snappier. During my time on .588 the sync icon would not go away on my taskbar and the lockscreen took a few seconds to unlock. I'd say the upgrade to .595 is worth it just because you're set to get the OTA from it.

You shouldn't need to sbf at all to go from .588 to .595.
So I'm hearing that of the various 59x versions its 59FIVE that I wanna move to for compatibility with an OTA upgrade ? And there's a flash method via droid2 bootloader?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Premium App
No... You will need to be stock froyo in order to receive ota according to p3droid
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I would stay with .588. I have heard it is a little harder than sbfing back to froyo. Also the .596 ota is coming out soon and it looks like the bootloader is changing. Once you make the switch to it there will be no way back to froyo. And currently there is no root for .596. I know I can easily sbf back to froyo from .588 so when a rooted version of the ota is released then I will make the next switch. If you are stable and happy stay where you are. If there are a few bugs that are bothering you. You might think about going to .595. Just read about getting back to froyo if you choose that route.

I was on. 595 for around ten minutes before I bootlooped my phone and the linux sbf worked like a charm.
Sent from my Xoom the way it should be, rooted and with SD card.
Would be nice if the new bootloader would be unencrypted...but that'll only happen in my dreams.

I am staying with the apex beta on 591 because it is aosp based and there is no bloatware to slow down my phone. I will update when the roms update.
i see no reason to switch as you cannot switch back to froyo.... not that i have any intention of going back I just have no desire to switch to the new version until a deodexed + rooted version slides out... i think its silly to even consider atm but thats just my opinion.
if you want OTA fine, but this is XDA... i thought we were all here because we DIDNT want the easy way.
I am more-or-less stable and happy on 588. So I'll just sit tight . But when the OTA upgrade becomes available from Moto Ill have to be back on Froyo ? Or is the jury still out on this?
Thx for getting back

The problem as I understand it is that Verizon wants that bloatware on there, it's a revenue stream for them. Especially the Verizon app store - pops up on my screen every time I plug my phone into my computer.
I have read that in the new Gingerbread release, it will be the first icon in the tray because the icons will no longer be in alphabetical order. That will make finding the correct icons so much easier in the menu.
I can't wait.
So Buttes says 595 will ota to 596, but owenbeales reports thar p3droid says unrooted froyo s necessary to OTA .... Anybody got clarification ?
Also...any opinions on ota596 with bloatware performance compared to the previously released 59x rooted stocks?

Hello

Hi guys, just got me a Droid X today, this is my first Android device, I previously had a Windows Mobile smartphone.
Glad to have you here. If you plan on going on to forums there are a few apps you should get. Try droid forum app and droid x forum app. Those will keep you in to loop on everything. So are you on gingerbread yet ? Do you plan on rooting?.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Thank you, i've looked in the Droid X forums before, I don't exactly remember if I went to the Droid forum before though. I'll get them. I'll eventually root but I have to learn how to. My old Dash 3g had a custom rom on it, and I flashed a custom rom on my fathers Dash, it's a better phone with it. I'm still on 2.2.
Welcome. And do not take the ota to gingerbread, install a pre-rooted version your self. That is the only way to maintain root access on GB...

Yeah, if you want Gingerbread and Root then follow the instructions on the thread below. It's easy and it works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139865
I rooted my phone today, and right now i'm running Cyanogen 7(pre-release candidate?). I might see about getting this rooted Gingerbread.
when i got my dx a week or so ago i thought ill try this stock gb.... oh what a waste of time. cm nightlies are the best out there now
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Is it me or does my touchscreen seem like it's not as responsive as it should be in the app menu?(i'm on Cyanogen 7 Nightly 23 if i'm not mistaken) I'm back on Cyanogen but i'm going to go back to the rooted GB and see if it acts different. I don't know if it's something I should do, but in the app menu on my sisters EVO seems smoother and acts more responsive, and its harder to make a mistake opening an app.
i believe the last nightly should resolve this
