Can unused home screens be deleted in MYT4G?
In vibrant, I did several times to edit/delete home screens.
I don't think you can delete homescreens just add 2 more. A fast solution is just get a home replacement like ADW or LauncherPro, other than that I'm not sure how you can (if you can) lower the amount of screens with SenseUI.
Replacing launchers is the only solution. Sense only supports 5 or 7 screens.

Ok, see here is an idea/question I had, and I don't see asked elsewhere...
So, lets say that on my normal stock home screen, I have a weather widget running the main screen, then a clock on the 1st screen, and 2-3 widgets on the 3rd.
Now, how about I install a home replacement like Home++. On THIS home screen, I put a clock on screen 2, network widget on screen 3, and a few widgets on screen 1...
When I am using Home++ and have these widgets running, are they the only ones taking up memory/battery/etc, or are the widgets from the stock home screen running as well.
In other words, when Home++ is running, does it shut down the stock home and all it's widgets/apps, or is Home++ an overlay, and the other ones are still running?
Thanks
well if you dont want the widget running on the stock home, just clear defaults and force stop on the setting>application info
I've heard different answers on this. I've heard that the widgets on stock home do not run with a home replacement, but I've heard a few people say that the home replacement ran faster after nixing the widgets. Try it out yourself and see!
Is there a way to remove a home screen (one of the seven) after I have deleted all the apps/widgets off of it? I find that I really only need 4 or 5 of therse screens. Thanks!

The only way I know to do this is remove roise and that gives you 5 screens. You can then install any custom launcher and set how many screens you want. I dont think custom launchers work with sense but i may be wrong. I have made my own rom with no sense and use custom launcher. Runs a lot faster.

you could get a new home replacement on the market that will let you customize how many screens you have.
some ppl reported they don't see some launchers in market..
search for "Launcher" and try these out:
LauncherPro Beta
HelixLauncher
ADW.Launcher
For 2.1 Tag Home
They are all customizable (screens, docking shortcuts, programs layout, etc)
NOTE: Sense Widgets are built into Sense, so if you're gonna use different launcher some widgets will disappear..
I have an Evo and some of the launchers don't show up, which is rather annoying...it would be nice to have LauncherPro as an alternative to the stock Launcher (hard to get to on the Evo but you can enable it) or Sense.
Is there a way to add more panels to the home screen?...I could use 2 more....I looked under ADW settings and did not see the option. Thanks....

I think the max is 7. Were you looking for more? You can have 1-7 under ADW's settings.
For me, I've actually been doing fewer screens. I prefer to fit more in less screens. Less flipping around that way.
There are several apps that let you fit more apps into less space via clever widgets. I use FolderOrganizer the most; and Multicon and a few others.
ADW changed the way you manage screens. It's no longer just a 'setting'.
launch the screen preview (usually set on the home button) and then hit the menu button. You can then add or edit your screens. It's a bit of a complicated interface, but allows for moving screens (say you want to move your right-most screen over to the left most spot, etc), deleting screens, adding screens, and setting which one is the 'home' or default.
Yeah I figured it out last night.... Its under the EDIT heading...Slowly figuring this out Is there a way to modify the Framework.res or a similar file to get the stock 2.2 cube 3d app window in ADW? Not a requirement, but would be cool. Working on theming and want to make that a part of my theme

You would not edit the framework for that... you would edit the ADW .apk. Everything that you see on your home screen is in ADW.Launcher .apk. Unless.. you're not using ADW of course.
Ok. Just decompile the ADW.apk and find the that screens info and replace with 2.2 3d? Any help is appreciated. I'm learning this stuff
Holy cow I feel like such a noob BUT my.home screen (the one you snap to when you hit the home button) is the center screen when I had 7 screens. So it's screen #4 for those keeping track. BUT! I got rid of 2 screens (7 was just too much) so now I have a total of 5. HOWEVER the home screen is still screen #4! I tried adding and deleting additional screens but it stays at #4. Now, I did this before when I had 5 screens and it was #3. I obviously forgot what I did before to change it... bleh....
are you using the stock launcher?
I know for sure that Launcher Pro, ADW and Zeam let you choose which screen you want to be your home screen. I don't think the stock launcher can be customized like that.
Yeah I know. It's cake on adw and launcher pro. But noooooo, not on Touchpiss...
I've heard ppl complain about the fact the home screen is always #4 (don't know if there's a way to change it). But what I don't understand is, why not just use #4 for whatever you want your "main" home screen to be? E.g., if you use 5 screens, keep 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (so 4 is the one in the middle)... if you have 3 screens (like me), use 3, 4, 5... etc. (That's assuming you want your main home screen in the middle -- but if not, just adjust accordingly.)
[EDIT: I guess I can see how if you want your main screen to be the one on the far left or far right -- not the middle -- and you're using more than 4 screens, it would be an issue.]
This issue has been talked about. I too was looking for a resolve on this. Unfortunately there is no solution other than launcher pro or adw. Sucks I knoe. I wanted to get rid of 2 extra but like you said. It goes to 4 no matter. Hope this gets fixed with 2.2

You can't change it in the current TouchWiz launcher. Maybe they'll change that in one of the upcoming versions (I hope so).

there is an app that allows you to change the default screen in the stock launcher
search on the market for SGS Screen Changer.
Hello guys, I am new to this forum and I bought a XPeria Arc the other day and let me say its the best phone ever made. Nothing beats it. So anyway I have been going through its never ending features and found out that the phone has more than one home screen. However I want only one or two. So I removed the timescpae app and the other widgets and emptied three out of my five home screeen to keep it short and simple. My problem is the empty home screens are still there and wont go and wont go. SO when I press the home button I am taken to an empty home screen with just a wallpaper. So my question is how do i remove empty unwanted home screens and just have one or two?
your only option is to use another launcher such as launcher pro or ADW from the market as you can specify how many home screens you use. These are great launchers and have their pros and cons when compared to SE launcher.
Best thing is to try them and see what you think
but as for your issue with pressing the home screen and going to an empty screen, you need to move your widgets to that screen. The home button centers your screens on the middle one
I think you may have your widgets on the wrong screen you need to have them on the 3rd screen/middle screen.
