[Q] CID for Goldcard - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Is it possible to obtain your CID without the phone being connected to the PC? I tried to install a new Froyo (Yoshi 1.6) and now my phone won't boot at all.
I have an SD card with the sappimg.nbh and run from HBoot and get the damned wrong Model ID error.
As I said, I can't enable USB debugging and all that because I have no working OS on my phone.
I need my CID number!

Can't you boot to recovery?

Either I can't or don't know how to boot to recovery. Like I said I can't make it past the splash screen or connect via USB

What do you think the difference is between General Q&A and Development?

adp not working

hello everyone,
im having some trouble with my 32b vodafone magic. im hoping someone might be able to help me with.
i tried to update the rom to the jachero, but i didnt update the SPL first. now when i turn on the phone it just goes to the hero/htc splashscreen and keeps looping that. the phone wont load up fully.
i did some searches and found out that i could use the adb program in the android sdk, however when i load it nothing is showing in the devices list. i think this is because usb debugging is not enabled?
i can get into fastboot OK and cyans 1.4 recovery as well.
would it be possible for me to go into the console and type a command in there that would enable usb debugging? if so what do i need to type and how do i get the keyboard to appear in cyans recovery console in the first place? - (i have the usb drivers already installed on windows from the sdk)
other then that i was thinking i could just buy a micro sd card reader and copy the spl onto it that way and then update? and then update the ROM.
ive tried restore/wipe but that doesn't work for me either, i still keep getting stuck on the splash screen.
any help would be very much appreciated.
thanks a mill,
luke
hi again,
i thought id give some more info that might be of use, hopefully.
my current spl is 1.33.0004 and the radio is 2.22.19.26I
i tried using fastboot but everytime i try to flash a file onto the device i get remote: signature verify fail
thanks,
luke
hiyas, just a quick update, i went and got an sd card reader and updated the spl and then put the rom on it and its flying now.

Wont boot

I tried flashing my first ROM on to the GSM unlocked HD2, the rom came with both the RUU and the nbh files, however, after i finished the onscreen wizard from the ruu, when i went to boot up my phone, it is stuck at the HTC screen.
I can boot into serial mode, and can do a system restore. But it is still stuck at the HTC screen when booted.
What should I do to get the ROM on to the device and have it boot normally?
any help is appreciated
you can still boot the phone into the bootloader correct?
when in bootloader connect your phone to your computer with your usb cable
once the connection is established it should change from 'serial' to 'usb' in the bootloader
now from your computer, flash your phone's stock rom
if you are on tmo us make sure the rom is compatible with the US version
also make sure if you are tmous that you do not flash a radio with .51 in it
you didn't say what phone or what rom, but I suspect you need to flash a matching radio.
read the thread of the rom you flashed and there will likely be a recommended radio.

G1 unlock bootloader

So I have T-mobile G1 model phone. It has firmware 1.0 with RC29 in the build number. I would like to update it to some version of cyanogenmod.
There are a couple of problems I am having when i try to follow the instructions at wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
1. I am unable to unlock the bootloader using fastboot. I have Android SDK installed on my PC.
2.As far as I can tell, I cannot get into bootloader mode by pressing trackball and Power ON. The only way I can get into bootloader mode is through Power ON + Camera. I can get the "three skating androids" and i have the following showing on my screen:
DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT 0.95.3000
CPLD-4
radio 1.22.12.39
serial 0
The device freezes at this point. I have to pull the battery to restart the phone.
Any help, links etc would be greatly appreciated
That's because you're following instructions on unlocking the bootloader for the Nexus One, not the G1. *facepalm*
Attempting to flash the wrong files can brick your phone. If you were careless enough to not realize you were following instructions for a completely different phone that entire time, you should think twice about rooting your G1! You could end up bricking it.

Gotcha back!!!!!
Well, can you still use fastboot? If so, search on XDA Developers for the man himself EzTerry. He has a nice tutorial for installing a new Radio and SPL for the HTC Dream (dont worry, not the Nexus One, i've checked it ) Follow that and you can flash your recovery again, your ROM (Even CM7) and as a bonus: You get more then 10 mb of RAM!!!!!!! BUT if not, you'll have to put the DREAIMG.nbh (google it) to your sdcard and install it using the bootloader BUT you'll be back where you started, with Android 1.0!!!!!! (No root access, no nothing, but a standard recovery) AND, a bricked phone won't start up, won't go to recovery AND to bootloader and the most common reason for bricking your phone is: 1. Not seeing what file you are downloading AND flashing it
2. Putting it in the right order!!!! SO easy but SO many bricks!!!! That's all you need to know!!! Good luck!
HTC Dream
u r missing the part where BEFORE GOING INTO FASTBOOT U HAVE TO DO:
1. format ur SD card in fat32 format (u may need a laptop with an adapter to perform this becouse u actually cant do it from the phone since it doesnt start up). FOR ME IT DIDNT WORK UNTILL I FORMATED FROM INSIDE THE PHONE TOO BAD IT THAT DOESNT WORK OUT FOR YOU =/
2. place this file RC29 DREAIMG.nbh (google it becouse i cant post links) into ur just formated SD card (just paste it and do not place in any folder)
3. turn on ur phone by pressing and holding camerabuttom + ON(red one)
4. it should go from the colored screent to a kinda gray one with some instructions... and then u just have to follow on screen instructions.

HD2 SPL wont go into USB mode and Radio -v2 doesn't flash via SD.

I just got my HD2 back from repair. (It needed a new USB powerblock.) It booted up fine, I was able to use the connect the USB cable inside Android and cpoy some files to the SD fine.
However, I wanted to change the rom and go back to MAGLDR, so I went into bootloader mode, and started Task29.
Task29 failed, and I could no longer boot up my phone, or get the bootloader to go into USB mode.
So I decided to try SD flash. This failed when trying to flash the radio (Not the RSA fail, just fail.) so, since I stilled had HSPL, I cooked a rom with RevSkills that didn't have the Radio in.
This rom managed to flash there SPL, but I still cant get into USB mode, and I still can't boot.
Any suggestions?
when you try to boot keep the power button pressed until maglr loads and sort it from there
What you have to do is to just install ActiveSync (for WinXP) or Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center (for Vista Win7) and you will be able to go into usb mode
The post above me is correct you need the appropriate program depending on your version of Windows on your PC. The programs have the USB drivers in them your computer needs to communicate with your HD2 while in bootloader mode. Or you can download and install the HD2 NAND Toolkit and download the drivers from the Download Drivers button in the toolkit, you still have to extract them and run the installer after you download them though.
Now as for you not being able to flash via SD card. Can you please tell us what your HD2 says at the top while in bootloader. And also what ROM version is the ROM you are trying to flash based from? Something tells me your device ID is not correct, or you were trying to flash a ROM that is not compatible with your device.

[Q] help with updating recovery only

I have an Htc magic already rooted and with clockwork recovery running cm6.0.0 I want to update it to a newer Rom, a fast froyo or fast Gb, all of the root work wasn't done by me, I don't know much about this particular device, anyway when I try to do a backup cwRecoverysays 0 Mb on sd card, Wich is not true, I think it may be a problem of the old version of cwRecovery (2.5) so I don't know what if the best method for changing just the recovery.
By the way this 32a is running spl 1.33.2010 and 3.22 radio
Anyone? anyone?
Anyway... I now understand how to flash the recovery without damaging the rest, I'm trying to use the tool that changes radios and recovery, but the phone wont get recognised in fastboot, when I plug the cable windows recognizes the device fine but when I type fastboot devices I get none listed, maybe it has something to do with the usb drivers I'm using windows 7x64
