[Q] Whats does "mounted as r/o and r/w" means? - Galaxy Tab General

Whats does "mounted as r/o and r/w" means? in root explorer?

read only and read write

r/o = read only, you cannot modify, move or delete files.
r/w = read/write, you can modify , move and delete files -> be carefully ;-)

[Q] Pushing files to read only location

Want to push a file to /system/customise/resource but i believe it is read only. What command do i use to make it read/write then push a file?
Thanks
i use root explore to push files, just mount root explorer as read/write by pressing the mount button in top right corner an if your having permission problems with the file ,you can long press on a file, go in permissions an tick the right box's

System file is READ-ONLY

I'm on Root Explorer, and trying to install a app that needs to be on system/apps
but when i try to move that app and paste it in system/apps i get
"SYSTEM FILE IS READ-ONLY...
and then can't paste?
am i doing anything wrong?
is there a way to manually do it?
Look for and tap the "Mount R/W" button. Then it no longer read-only. Don't forget to click the button again (changes to Mount R/O) after you're done to make it read only again.
ooooooohhhhhhhh
k thanks so much man

[Q] How to mount R/W in...

Hi I have a little question to make, and I haven't find anything about it...
My cellphone has root and i'm able to mount R/W in a most folders with root explorer, but I can't mount R/W in "cust" folder. Inside is a folder called "entel" and there are the modified boot animations and stuff.
There is the Swype.apk too, but it hasn't any dictionaries and I'm not able to install them too (I don't know why)... So when I try to change the apk for another one, i can't mount R/W.
And when i try to install normally i can't.
Is there a way to mount r/w in that folder or change the swype?
Why you don't just copy the files you need on another folder on sdcard and try to manipulated there?
Also this folder sould be in /cust_backup/custom_data. Did you tried from there?
I try to manipulate them in another place but then I can't replace the new files...
And i don't know why... but the folder is "cust", i know there is another one ".cust_backup" but inside is only the image folder with amss.mbn, boot.img, cust.img, emmcboot.mbn and recovery.img.
My cust folder includes a lot of subfolders, first one called "entel", then another subfolder "cl" and then i have folder called "app" (inside is only the Swype.apk"), lib, logo, media, nv, ons, prop, wallpaper and xml.
I Can't mount R/W in any of the cust folders, but I can do it in ".cust_backup"
:S
I don't know If you can mount this folder as rw.
Try to open command prompt on pc(and give the command adb shell) or a terminal emulator(in this case give the command su to take root rights)
and then give the command
cat/proc/mounts
to see which partitions have and where they mounted
Then, if the custom partition exist give the command
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/
followed with the mmc...(something that I dont rember) number of partition
e.g mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmwhateveris12
to mount it.
It didn't worked...
What if change something in the apk to make the system think that isn't swype?

Removing unneeded stock apps and installing Swype for your own language

This is only for B528 + Atmel Fix installed U8800
Root required.
Download this file. That rar archive contains modified boot.img
http://www.karakazan.com/dosya/ufukyayla/b528_boot.rar (It's my own domain, and it's safe)
Extract rar and copy the boot.img to your sdcard.
Copy that file to "/.cust_backup/image" folder and replace orginal boot.img.
---------------------------------
Skip if you know how to replace boot.img
1. Install "Es File Explorer"
2. Es File Explorer > Setting > File Settings > Check "Show Hidden Files"
3. Exit "Es File Explorer"
4. Install "Remount" (Stephen Stericson) from market.
5. Run "Remount"
6. Select "/.cust_backup"
7. Select "rw"
8. Click "REMOUNT"
9. Run "Es File Explorer"
10. Go "/.cust_backup/image" folder and backup orginal "boot.img" to sdcard.
11. Copy downloaded "boot.img" to "/.cust_backup/image" folder
---------------------------------
Restart
Now, you have read/write right to cust folder.
You can remove stock apps in "/cust/hw/default/app" folder.
If do you want to install swype (for your own language);
1. Just delete "/cust/hw/default/app/Swype_U8800_euro.apk"
2. Install a kind of swype what you want.
Thanks, but what have you changed/deleted?
EDIT: Sorry, my bad, I read it wrong.. You have modified the boot.img so we can remove the apps we don't want Shame on me!
I just modified two lines in init.rc (ro --> rw)
mount vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /.cust_backup ro wait
mount ext3 [email protected]_backup/image/cust.img /cust ro
to
mount vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /.cust_backup rw wait
mount ext3 [email protected]_backup/image/cust.img /cust rw

Factory mode is enabled
do this:
you must be rooted.
using root explorer or file explorer or what else,
open file "factorymode" in efs/factoryApp directory, it probabely says "off", change to "on" (yes "on" is the correct setting to turn it off), then save
reboot
sent from my Galaxy

I'm typing exactly as you put "mount /efs" but i'm getting the following sintaxe error: "Usage Mount...[-r] [-w] [-o option] [-t type] device directory"
And yes, i'm rooted, with CF Auto Root...
Just adding...
I was using ES Explorer app to check the efs folder, and it was giving me empty as response. I changed o Root Explorer App and EFS folder seems ok. Now i think will be easier to fix.

Man, its done... Many Thanks..
After i was able to see the EFS content on Root Explorer app, i tried to change the factorymode status, but it was denied. Then, on the terminal emulator i changed the file permissions (chmod) e put it ON. Reboot and everything is OK.
Again many thanks...
