Hi, iam also from Indonesia, you can download google maps 5.0 from forums..
But you cannot experience 3d view in maps of Indonesia in this new update. The only new thing available is the rotating compass view. Anyways have fun..
Cheers...
3D maps are only available in 200 cities for now

no need to throw tantrum guys. its indonesia. what do you expect.. most of 3rd world country also don't have turn by turn google map road navigation. the only solution is get out from there, work and live at places like Singapore, or US.
i thinks we cannot buy apps from market as well at indonesia right?
can you give me the link?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
im in indonesia just installed 5.2, navigation and 3d not working. Just google the link mate.

ada link nya ga? mau donwload niii,,, haha
There are simpler way, just root your phone using z4root, download market enabler and set to T-Mobile [us], then you can download latest google map, new market, and it's update without having to search the .apk everytime.
Related
I remember at the launch party in London, they mentioned that you could preload maps, which you could then use in case you're in an area where you have no internet access.
They also mentioned that the maps would be free for download.
Does anyone have anymore information on this or how we can download the maps?
I'm sure this is in the user manual...
Open locations, then go menu > upgrade > download maps
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Does the upgrade to Premium also enable the Navigation button in the Car Panel. Mine is greyed out.
Yes, turn by turn nav is chargeable. Anyone seen the news that tomtom maps are coming to the dhd and desire z? Interesting!
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I hope you are right Dazultra
The map data is from tomtom who own teleatlas maps. It does not imply the tomtom application is coming to the hd.

Actually the current maps are route66. I didn't say the tomtom app was coming, just that other maps by tomtom are. Was on engadget.

How many maps can we download??
I've read that we are entitle to 3 free maps, is this right?? And that those 3 maps are all taken account your location, 1 is the map from where you are and the other 2 are from two countries near your country. Is this right? if Yes, does it matter where I bought the phone or not?!? If I buy a phone from England I would get a map from England and two other countries near England or do I get a map from Portugal (my location) and two other from countries near Portugal?!=!
Please, someone answer me, cause I really need to decide where I'm going to buy the phone...

I'm in the UK, and the phone came preloaded with UK, Ireland and France maps. I believe you can download any other maps for free, its just the turn-by-turn navigation you pay for.
I'm going back to New Zealand for Xmas and have already downloaded the maps for there.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
How much do we pay for the turn-by-turn navigation?
Is it subscription based? Any time limit like X euro for Y days?
Is the turn-by-turn "intelligent" provided by TomTom or HTC Locations?
Yes it is subscription based and the prices vary a lot. You can do it per month, per year, or for life. Traffic and cameras are separate and again, per month or year.
What do you mean by intelligent?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
charging for navigation?
what a step backwards...
i swear htc dont want people to buy this phone.
such a shame because i REALLY wanted to get this phone. it seems so good.

You can still use Google Maps or any other mapping app out there. I'm not sure how it's really a step backwards, at least the options there.
The locations app is very nice, but its missing postcode lookup.
Which is really weird for a paid navigation system.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Is there any price list somewhere? I am interested in the "for life" price for WESTERN EUROPE.
At least: Benelux + Germany + France
What I meant with "intelligent" is the navigation app ... the logic behind the turn-by-turn routing. Is it provided by TomTom or HTC?
I meant, if TomTom "only" provide the maps ... that could mean the navigation app is created by HTC.

Western Europe for life is 50 dollars US.
I don't know who does the intelligence. I think the current maps are provided by route 66, and tomtom will be providing alternatives (for a healthy profit I assume!)

Hi
Does anyone got Google Maps update to 5.x on Legend. Just wonder if I'm restricted to version 4 due to region or HTC rom...
N.B. I don't see Google maps at the Market so can't update manually.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
It's the country you live in, not the device. I live in Bulgaria and Maps updates are not available to me for download from the Market. Yet, when I put a UK sim card in the same device, it works just fine and I have downloaded the latest 5.something update.
I suspected that... and you know why frustrated? Users of latest devices (e.g. Desire S) got it - same country and operator, so it seems like somebody just doesn't care to enable it... for Legend

Download MarketEnabler and it will trick the market into thinking you have an American sim card.

But first you need to have root
I think he can use temproot(VISIONary r13) + MarketEnabler.
Until recently here in Croatia we were stuck with v4.5 which forced me to install v5.1 for a downloaded .apk Imagine my surprise when the 5.5 update went live for download on the market
Google maps with Navigation.

Hello! I will go on a trip from Tg-Jiu, a city from Romania, to Antalya (Turkey). I want a GPS app that I can use even if I don't have a data connection. I want an off-line GPS application. I found a few, but I don't know what is the best and if their maps are the most accurate. What app do you recomand to use?
1. IGO
2. Sygic GPS Navigation
3. Copilot
4. Mobile Navigon for Europe
5. WisePilot
6. Other (if is an other app that i miss)
So, what's your choice and why?

Navigon MobileNavigator!
It have better maps that iGO?
I like mavrick (no navigaation but usable)... not in your list.

NavDroyd is awesome because maps' size is really, really small (only 20mb for my country as I remember).. you can use both - only maps with determination of your location, and navigation if needed.
NDRIVE is the BEST OFFLINE navigator
Using it in INDIA..
Are there any other free offline Navigators for android.??
I cast my vote for iGO, but that's because I never used any other offline solution. iGO served me well outside the country (in Bulgaria, to be precise). The phone handles the application very well, you only need recent maps.
Navit:
+offline maps
+offline calculation of routes
+support for computervoice
+free
-big maps (completly offline)
-no nice GUI
LG P500
mik's CM7 6.5.7
Francos Kernel 19.2 BFS
691/245 smartass
Sorry for my english
n drive ftw +1 ;-)
Enviado desde mi LG-P500 usando Tapatalk
Keep in mind that I am interested in an application for Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Maybe your apps are better for your country, but in Romania and Bulgaria it have no coverage.
Navit uses OpenStreetMap, you can download maps for all the countries you want.

Ndrive the best in my country Egypt, working offline map
Ndrive rules
Aura Sygic, offline map
Sigyc Aura is the worst choice for Bulgaria! VERY beautiful and VERY limited map. I recomend Copilot, or sygic mobile maps 10 v8.24.
Copilot premium is awesome - also has custom settings for smaller screens like our optimus
Sent from my VM670 using XDA App
for me, iGO
+1 for Ndvrive because it works very well offline =)
Ok, I got it. I chosed iGO. The latest map for Romania is 98% accurate and 95% for Bulgaria. God job! Ndrive is not for Eastern Europe!

To make iGo even better, try installing the Amigo Skin, it adds some new configs to menus.
Im going to America in july for about a month and will need a sat nav app to use offline as i will be in airplane mode with gps on.
Preferably free or cheap
Leave me your recommendations.
I can't comment on east coast coverage... But I've used copilot for a couple years. It's relatively cheap and works well enough. A lot of people like sygic too.

Download the area in Google maps app(menu -> make available offline) and you won't need data connection later. There won't be any live traffic info but at least navigation will work.

Can use them for Navigation?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
yes, you can navigate, but area you can save is limited to somehow size of a larger city. I'm looking as well to something like Nokia have, where you can download whole countries and be done with. If you travel outside your country chances are you won't have good data plan and your Google's maps are useless when needed most. Even in your own country how can you anticipate which location has poor service and you need to download data ahead, especially with limited size. it offers.
Don't know in which continent you are living, but you can try MapFactor from the playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mapfactor.navigator or Navfree (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=navfree navigator)
Hello, try Maps with me pro or Osmand +, it works perfecty for me
Re
Hi you can try google maps offline mode which is in beta now.
