U stands for UMTS. Does yours switch back and forth between U and H a lot?

I just catch it every now and then on my phone so I'm sure it does

[Q] really ez question just need a bit more info

So my question is that ever since the launch of the MyTouch 4G I had it n loved it, but I never saw "HSPA+" or "HSPA" under settings> about phone> phone status > scroll down and I look at mobile networks and it always says "HSDPA"!? Basically I'm asking if HSDPA is the so called 4G, or am I not in the 4G coverage area? I live in Washington DC! I went to T-Mobile.com already and checked the 4G coverage area, and it seems that I should have 4G! Sorry if this was a dumb question!

did u tried with other sims
Sent from my SONY WALKMAN using JellySony Rom
I did it like this:
1.go to settings ->wireless & networks ->mobile networks -> network preferences & switch to WCDMA only
2. Uncheck 'use only 2G networks'
3. Now wait for sometime till signal changes & u will see H instead of E on the status bar
4. If the signal vanishes after switching to 'WCDMA only' switch back to 'GSM only'
Feedback is welcome, try & give feedback here:beer:

Yes it is.. On this device 4g = LTE
With T-Mobile H and 3g are the same thing.
H+ is what some call 3.5 G . its faster and almost 4G.
4G depending one your device may represent H+ or LTE .

4G is definitely not LTE.
Just because this device has a "4G" doesn't mean it's on LTE.

With the stock ROM, LTE is displayed with the 4G icon. Hspa and Hspa+ are displayed with H.

Apart from being rom dependent, what you see will also be carrier dependent. On AT&T, when out in the sticks, I may see G for gsm or E for Edge and when in the city, I will see H for 3G, hspa, and hspa+.

G and E are not at&t specific. I get edge in my house.. And GSM on long road trips through crappy service areas. Both represented with a G and E

G is GPRS, and E is EDGE. GPRS is much slower than EDGE (Which I didn't know was possible until I managed to get GPRS for like 1 minute)
I have never seen H+ I get H and its 20-30mbps
R<G<E<3G<H<4G
Those are the only ones that show up on the signal bar

My bad, I meant G=GPRS, but I wasn't trying to imply those are AT&T specific. I was pointing out that I never see 3G on my phone. It still shows H for 3G service.
